Rumored to be released in March, a new image of the phone has been leaked online showing it sporting a new design.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">When the first set of images of the Mi 5C were leaked online back when it was still called Xiaomi Meri, the device featured a physical home button. However, this new image leaked on Weibo by @strong machine and said to have originated from a Foxconn factory lacks the physical home button. Another difference is the position of the front camera which has been moved from the right to the left.</p>

<figure id="attachment_118414" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-118414" style="width: 600px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-118414" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/02/Xiaomi-Mi-5C-Old.jpg?x10805" alt="Xiaomi Mi 5C Old Leak" width="600" height="800" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/02/Xiaomi-Mi-5C-Old.jpg 600w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/02/Xiaomi-Mi-5C-Old-225x300.jpg 225w" sizes="(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /><figcaption id="caption-attachment-118414" class="wp-caption-text">Xiaomi Mi 5C Old Leak</figcaption></figure>
<figure id="attachment_118413" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-118413" style="width: 600px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-118413" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/02/Xiaomi-Mi-5C-Old-2.jpg?x10805" alt="Xiaomi Mi 5C Old Leak" width="600" height="800" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/02/Xiaomi-Mi-5C-Old-2.jpg 600w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/02/Xiaomi-Mi-5C-Old-2-225x300.jpg 225w" sizes="(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /><figcaption id="caption-attachment-118413" class="wp-caption-text">Xiaomi Mi 5C Old Leak</figcaption></figure>
<p style="text-align: justify;">This new device is better looking and the front bezels are thinner but since there is no picture of the rear we can&#8217;t confirm the position of the fingerprint scanner. The front also lacks the groove of the ultrasonic fingerprint scanner in the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2016/09/27/ultrasonic-fingerprint-scanner-xiaomi-mi-5s-visible/">Mi 5S</a>. So we can&#8217;t say if there is one embedded underneath the display.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">We might have to wait until more leaks surface or until the phone is eventually released in March. The Xiaomi Mi 5C is rumored to have a 5.5-inch display, 3GB RAM, 64GB of built-in storage and a 12MP Omnivision 12870 rear camera. The front camera is an 8MP shooter and there is a 4500mAh battery in it. Since MIUI 9 is not out yet, it should ship with MIUI 8 based on Android 6.0. Price is said to be about ¥1499 (~$218).</p>

The latest rumor has it that the iPhone 8 would not feature a home button up front.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/apple-iphone/"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-116028" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/01/apple-iphone.jpg?x10805" alt="apple-iphone" width="950" height="534" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/01/apple-iphone.jpg 950w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/01/apple-iphone-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/01/apple-iphone-768x432.jpg 768w" sizes="(max-width: 950px) 100vw, 950px" /></a></p>
<p>KGI Security analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, released a research report which contained details of plans by Apple to remove the physical home button on the iPhone 8. The analyst further hinted that there would be a thumb-print sensor embedded in the screen instead.</p>
<p>Before this recent disclosure, it had earlier been rumored that the next gen iPhone would come with a bezel-less, edge-to-edge screen design which would make the presence of a physical home button impossible. This has been known before now but the analyst went further to give details of how the new home button will look like.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/2017/01/18/iphone-8-concept-model-includes-rumored-features-like-glass-glass-design-wireless-charging/introduction/" rel="attachment wp-att-115720"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-115720" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/01/Introduction.jpg?x10805" alt="iPhone 8 concept - Introduction" width="1024" height="576" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/01/Introduction.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/01/Introduction-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/01/Introduction-768x432.jpg 768w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></a></p>
<p>Also, recall that Apple shifted to an underglass touch ID on the iPhone 7 but according to Kuo, Apple&#8217;s current &#8220;under glass&#8221; capacitive fingerprint recognition tech won&#8217;t cut it if the phone has the full-screen, button-free design. Instead, the ID reader will need to shift to an &#8220;under panel&#8221; setup, which would require optical ID tech. In this case, the optical sensors will need to be compatible with flexible OLED panels.</p>
<p style="text-align: center"><strong><span style="color: #ff0000">Read Also:</span> <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/2017/01/11/apple-iphone-8-aluminum-unibody-stainless-steel-frame/">Apple iPhone 8 to Ditch Aluminum Unibody For Stainless Steel Frame</a></strong></p>
<p>In addition, there might also be facial tracking sensor to verify users&#8217; faces as a way of identification. This rumored feature is said to likely replace the fingerprint ID  technology that was supposed to sit on the home button. But the analyst did not leave out the possibility that both technologies could be used on the device.</p>
<p>Whatever it is going to be, the iPhone 8 is still a long way from going official, so we&#8217;ll definitely get more details on this.</p>

The configuration of the navigation buttons.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify">The images show that Nokia is settling for capacitive buttons as we can see the back and recent apps buttons on the left and right respectively. But instead of the circular home button, there is a cut-out for what appears to be a physical home button which we presume will also double as a fingerprint scanner.</p>
