But in the video, Zack noted that the display is dustproof; however, the hinge is “definitely” not, as you can hear a nasty crunch, which likely caused finer particles to make their way inside the folding mechanism.

Things also get worse when we get to the bend test. The Pixel 10 Pro Fold is reportedly keeping the same pricing: $1,799 for 256GB ($2,399 CAD), $1,919 for 512GB ($2,569 CAD), and $2,149 for 1TB ($2,869 CAD).

Previous leaks also suggest hardware upgrades. The Pixel 10 Pro Fold may feature a 6.4-inch outer screen, an 8-inch main display, a more durable hinge made from multi-alloy steel, and an aluminum body. It may be the first foldable to carry an IP68 rating, and is expected to offer up to 72 hours of battery life with Extreme Battery Saver.

The Pixel 10 Pro and Pro XL are expected to retain their 6.3-inch and 6.8-inch screens, include a 50MP main camera, a 48MP ultra-wide with autofocus, and a 48MP 5x telephoto with 100x Pro Res Zoom and 8K video. Battery life may reach 100 hours.

So here’s a detailed breakdown of everything we know so far.

Google Pixel 10 Pro: Design & Display

In terms of design, Google isn’t bringing a major facelift, so its body appears similar to the Pixel 9 Pro Fold. Although, one of the earlier reports did suggest that the brand would make its next-gen foldable slimmer and more durable this year. The hinge mechanism is reportedly getting thinner, with perhaps the biggest upgrade being an IP68 rating. This is a big deal for foldable since the Pixel 10 Pro Fold would be the first of its kind to offer the high Ingress protection. In comparison, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 offers an IP48 rating.

The cover screen is getting slightly larger, measuring 6.4 inches, while the primary panel retains its 8-inch size. While finer details for these displays are still at large, the peak brightness is getting a bump from 2700 nits to 3000 nits. But both screens likely offer a 120Hz refresh rate and HDR support.

Performance

Similar to the rest of the Pixel 10 lineup, the Search Engine giant’s premium foldable is also getting the latest Tensor G5 SoC. This is a 3nm chipset that is based on TSMC’s advanced N3E process, which marks a shift away from Samsung Foundry. Overall, this chip is faster and more power efficient than the Tensor G4, while also offering improved AI performance that allows for on-device machine learning.

A GeekBench listing also showed this chip alongside 16GB of RAM and Android 16. Even the battery size is getting bigger with the Pixel 10 Pro Fold rumored to house a 5,015mAh cell. To recall, the Pixel 9 Pro Fold housed a 4,650mAh battery pack.

Camera

For photography, Google’s flagship foldable may offer a 50MP (main) + 12mp (telephoto, 5x optical zoom) + 12MP (ultra wide) on the rear, while the front could be a 10MP shooter on both screens. Notably, this is the same large Samsung GN8 sensor on the primary camera, while the ultra wide and telephoto are identical to the base Pixel 10.

Pricing, Color, & Launch Date

The Pixel 10 Pro Fold will debut alongside the rest of the Pixel 10 next month, possibly on August 20. It may arrive in two color options, namely Moonstone and Jade. Google’s gearing up to launch its Pixel 10 series, and like last year, it’s bringing a foldable companion along for the ride. While we already expected the standard Pixel 10 and Pixel 10 Pro, a fresh leak has now detailed nearly everything about the upcoming Pixel 10 Pro Fold.

First off, battery life is getting a massive upgrade. The Pixel 10 Pro Fold is reportedly packing a 5,015mAh cell, making it not just larger than last year’s 4,650mAh Pixel Fold but also comfortably outpacing the Galaxy Z Fold 7’s 4,400mAh battery. 

Interestingly, Google is sticking with a lithium-ion battery, unlike the newer silicon-carbon cells used by some Chinese foldables.

Not much of an upgrade in design

In terms of design, the Pixel 10 Fold doesn’t stray far from its predecessor. The outer cover display is now slightly larger at 6.4 inches, while the main inner screen stays at 8 inches. One upgrade for the display is that it is expected to reach a peak brightness of 3,000 nits vs 2,700 nits on the predecessor.

Both the inner and cover displays house 10MP selfie cameras, while the rear camera array includes a 48MP main sensor, a 10.5MP ultrawide, and a 10.8MP telephoto lens with 5x optical zoom.

Under the hood, Google is expected to debut its first 3nm Tensor chip—the Tensor G5—paired with 16GB of RAM and storage options ranging from 256GB to 1TB. 

And perhaps the most impressive upgrade is that the Pixel 10 Pro Fold is tipped to be the first foldable phone with an IP68 rating. That means it’s both dust- and water-resistant. For comparison, the Fold 7 has IP48 protection while the Vivo X Fold 5 is IP58/IP59+ rated.

The Pro XL increases display size to 6.8 inches at 2992 x 1344 resolution, starts at 256GB, and offers a 5,200mAh battery with 39W charging.

Both models support 1Hz–120Hz adaptive refresh rate, peak brightness up to 3000 nits, and come with a 42MP selfie camera. Rear setups include a 50MP main, 48MP ultra-wide, and 48MP periscope lens with 5x zoom. Wireless charging at 15W using Qi2 is also supported.

Google’s Pixel 10 series isn’t expected until later this year, but a new leak from reliable tipster Arsène Lupin has already revealed what buyers can expect in terms of color and storage variants across the lineup. The leak covers all four rumored models: Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, Pixel 10 Pro XL, and the Pixel 10 Pro Fold.

Pixel 10 keeps 128GB as base, 10 Pro starts at 256GB

The standard Pixel 10 will reportedly ship in two storage options, 128GB and 256GB, keeping it in line with previous entry-level Pixel phones. As for the color options, it will be available in Obsidian, Frost, Lemongrass, and Indigo. Lemongrass and Indigo shades. 

The Pixel 10 Pro will offer considerably more variety. Its storage options include 128GB, 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB. Whereas, users will get a choice of Obsidian, Porcelain, Moonstone, and Jade for colors. 

Moving up the ladder, we have the Pixel 10 Pro XL. According to Lupin, it will skip the base 128GB option and start at 256GB, with additional 512GB and 1TB options. The color options are the same as the Pixel 10 Pro. 

Finally, the Pixel 10 Pro Fold is expected to be available in 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB variants. However, color options for the foldable are limited to just Moonstone and Jade. That means, unlike last year, there’s no black or white version this time around. 

Google typically reveals its new Pixel phones in October, so these early details might still change. However, Arsène Lupin’s track record with accurate leaks adds weight to this report. With launch season approaching, more concrete details are likely to surface soon.

If this report is true, then the Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold is the first foldable phone with such a rating. A typical foldable phone forgoes dust proofing but features water resistance like an IPX8 rating. Samsung’s new flagship foldable, the Galaxy Z Fold 7, is also bringing an IP48 rating for upgraded resistance to the elements. This makes the Google foldable one of the toughest of its kind. For those unaware, the “6” in IP68 means a dust tight body, while the “8” refers to the ability to withstand water submersion up to one meter for 30 minutes.

As we are inching closer to the official unveiling of Google’s Pixel 10 series, leaks are also revealing certain aspects of the devices under development. According to a recent report, the base Pixel 10 would finally snag a telephoto lens, aligning it with the Pro models. Now, thanks to insider documents viewed by Android Authority, we’ve got the full camera specifications of all models—and it’s a mixed bag of upgrades and compromises.

The addition of a telephoto in the Pixel 10 is accompanied by downgraded main and ultrawide

Since the Pixel 6, the base models have included only wide and ultrawide lenses on the back, while Pro models pack an additional telephoto lens. The Pixel 10 series rewrites that script. The base Pixel 10 gains an 11MP Samsung 3J1 telephoto—borrowed from the Pixel 9 Pro Fold.

But here’s a catch: its primary sensor swaps the hefty GNV (1/1.31″) for the smaller Samsung GN8 (1/1.95″), and the ultrawide drops from an IMX858 (1/2.55″) to a Sony IMX712 (1/3.1″). Notably, these are the exact same sensors the Pixel 9a uses, which is a bit disappointing.

Smaller sensors have weaker low-light performance, a trade-off Google’s AI and algorithms can only soften, not erase. The selfie cam holds steady from last year, but the rest feels like a Pixel 9a remix with an added telephoto.

Meanwhile, the Pixel 10 Pro and Pro XL keep their camera hardware unchanged, leaning on the Tensor G5’s custom ISP and fresh algorithms to squeeze out improvements. The Pixel 10 Pro Fold gets a minor tweak, ditching the Sony IMX787 (Pixel 8a) for the GN8 (Pixel 9a), but it hardly deserves a headline.

Google is widening the gap between its base and Pro tiers, a trend that kicked off last year. The Pixel 10’s camera downgrade—swapping bigger sensors for smaller ones—likely offsets the cost and space of that new telephoto lens. Later this year, we’ll see if Google’s gamble pays off. Despite the smaller main and ultrawide sensors on the base model, the final output may not differ much compared to the Pixel 9—since image processing plays a major role and can improve independently of the sensors.

Looking at these leaked renders, the Pixel 10 Pro Fold appears to have a design that is nearly identical to last year’s Pixel 9 Pro Fold. We can see the dual pill shaped camera modules in the large camera island that houses the triple rear cameras and LED flash module.

For selfies and video calls, you can see a punch hole cutout on the main and cover display. So those who were fans of the Pixel 9 Pro Fold, you’re getting more of the same but you’re out of luck if you don’t like its squarish design. While it does resemble the last gen model, the Pixel 10 Pro Fold could be getting thinner than its predecessor. To recall, the Pixel 9 Pro Fold measured 5.1mm when unfolded. However, this won’t be getting an impressive thinness like the one offered on the Oppo Find N5, which measures just 4.21mm.

Google’s Pixel 10 Pro fold could likely be equipped with the Tensor G5 SoC, which is expected to be manufactured by TSMC. There might be improvements in the battery size or even support for 4K 60fps recording as well. Just last month, the Pixel 10 Pro XL had its renders leaked and doesn’t appear to be getting big changes either.
