Google is making a big change for Pixel 6 and Pixel 7 series users by extending software and security updates to five years. Previously, these devices were slated for just three years of OS updates alongside five years of security patches. This policy update covers key Pixel models. The Pixel 6 series, originally launched in October 2021, will now receive updates through Android 17, with support ending in October 2026. Meanwhile, the Pixel 7 series and the first-generation Pixel Fold will get updates through Android 18, with support running until 2027. Even the budget-friendly Pixel 6a benefits, with updates extended until July 2027, potentially covering Android 18.

Regular “Feature Drops” further improve this experience, bringing exciting new tools and improvements between major Android updates. The glossy camera bar gets a brushed finish thanks to the Scotch Brite scrubbing pad

The user has shared the images of his Pixel 7 Pro and Pixel 8 Pro through a Reddit post. He has used a Scotch Brite scrubbing pad (an abrasive pad that watchmakers / restorers use to remove the glossy finish in favor of a brushed look) to give a brushed finish to the camera bar.

“Unpopular opinion: resale be damned, I can’t stand the glossy camera bar on the P7P or P8P. So I used Scotch Brite pads to do what Google should have done,” noted the user.

Although, he didn’t mention whether he used a protective film on the lens cover. But the back panel of the Pixel 7 Pro is scratched heavily. You can see it in the image. If the scrubbing pad rubs against the lens cover, the scratches will not only affect the look but will also severely affect the image quality.

Users of the two devices who are willing to use the phone without a case can use skins. It does not make the phone bulky, protects the surface from scratches and fingerprints, and also offers a different look to the device. In addition, this kind of modification may cause you trouble in claiming the warranty. Using a skin does not have any such problem.

In a recent performance test conducted by “In Depth Tech Reviews,” the Galaxy S23 Ultra has emerged as the clear winner, outperforming its competitors, the iPhone 14 Pro Max and Pixel 7 Pro. The test involved running a 30-minute extreme performance test to evaluate the speed, battery life, and thermal performance of each device. The tasks included running a meeting on Microsoft Teams, running a 4K YouTube video in P2P mode, running Google Maps with Navigation, and playing Asphalt 9 simultaneously.

The Galaxy S23 Ultra completed the performance test without any issues, while the iPhone 14 Pro Max and Pixel 7 Pro failed at the 19-minute and 14:24-minute mark, respectively. The Pixel 7 Pro dropped the network two times and gave a thermal warning, while the iPhone 14 Pro Max had extreme lagging issues.

iPhone 14 Pro was the first to drop the brightness at 4:28 minutes while the Pixel 7 Pro dropped the brightness at 5:24 minutes. Galaxy S23 Ultra is a clear winner here which dropped the brightness at 11:05 minutes.

The Galaxy S23 Ultra had the best temperature reading of 47.4 degrees Celsius, while the iPhone 14 Pro Max had a temperature reading of 49.5 degrees Celsius. The Galaxy S23 Ultra also had the highest battery usage, using 10% of its battery during the test, while the iPhone 14 Pro Max used only 7% of its battery.

These results demonstrate the Galaxy S23 Ultra’s superior performance capabilities and its ability to handle heavy usage without any issues. The device was able to maintain its performance levels and keep the temperature low compared to other devices tested.

On the other hand, the iPhone 14 Pro Max and Pixel 7 Pro struggled to maintain their performance, with the higher temperature reading of the iPhone 14 Pro Max suggesting potential throttling under heavy usage. The Pixel 7 Pro’s performance was also below par, failing the test within 15 minutes. Although the Pixel 7 Pro tried to recover a bit later after cooling down.

Overall, consumers who prioritize high-performance devices that can handle heavy usage should consider the Galaxy S23 Ultra over its competitors. Its performance, low temperature, and moderate battery usage make it an ideal choice for power users. The Galaxy S23 Ultra sets a new standard for smartphone performance, showcasing its superiority in the highly competitive smartphone market.

After months of wait, Google is finally rolling out a 5G support software update for its compatible devices in India. The update is a part of the search giant’s March Pixel feature drop. This means that with the latest software version, Pixel 7, 7 Pro, and Pixel 6a users can now experience and enjoy the latest-generation cellular network. 

While 5G was launched in October last year, a host of OEMs finished the rollout of the 5G support update for their devices by December. With the latest Pixel March feature drop update, the Pixel 7, 7 Pro, and Pixel 6a are now compatible with 5G networks on Indian carriers such as Airtel and Jio. Pixel users on Twitter also confirmed about the same. 

The March Pixel feature drop update weighs 457MB in size. Users need to download and install this on their devices. Additionally, users need to ensure that they use Airtel or Jio SIM on their compatible Pixel device as Vi and BSNL do not support 5G in India. To activate 5G go to Settings > Tap on Network and Internet > Choose a SIM that supports 5G  and tap on Network preferences. It will then show three options – 5G, LTE, and 3G out of which 5G is to be selected. 

Apart from the 5G support update, the March Pixel feature drop update also brings features like night sight, magic eraser, health connect, and direct call features to older Pixel devices. It also allows users to enable 2 eSIMs simultaneously on the Pixel 7 and 7 Pro without using a physical SIM, however, this is only compatible with select carriers or networks.

Since the launch of the Google Pixel 7, the phone has received rave reviews from critics with regard to its camera setup. In the past, users have faced bugs such as the camera app freezing, and another bug causing auto-rotate and tap-to-wake to stop working. As per reports, the latest bug doesn’t let users save images that they capture while they are zoomed in on the camera app.

Pixel smartphones have encountered a bug that prevents users from saving photos taken while using periscope zoom, with reports coming in from various users of the Pixel 7 and 7 Pro phones. When users take a photo using periscope zoom and try to save it, the camera app hesitates for a while, but ultimately nothing happens. It has been found that the issue occurs with phones that have version 8.7.250.494820638.44 of the Google Camera app, and is likely due to HDR functionality. 

However, there is no real danger, and users need not worry about anything serious, such as their phones freezing or spontaneously combusting. Google has not yet commented on the issue, but a fix is expected to be available soon. The company might even ship the fix with the new QPR2 update (or the feature drop) coming later this month,  While Pixel phones have had a few bugs in the past, their ever-growing list of features continues to make them some of the best Android phones available.

The video in question is a 4K HDR movie clip, and the issue seems to be limited to the Pixel 7 series, though some Pixel 6 and Pixel 6a users have also reported experiencing the problem. Users who have attempted to open the video using the YouTube app have reported spontaneous reboots. Some Pixel 7/7 Pro users have also lost cellular connectivity after their device has rebooted. However, restarting the phone appears to resolve this issue.

While some Reddit users have compared this to the infamous wallpaper crash that affected Samsung and Google phones in 2020, others think that there may be an issue with HDR processing on the Pixel 7 series. Google Pixel 7 series debuted back in 2022 with top-notch hardware, including a new Tensor G2 chip, improved cameras, better display, and a lot more. However, it is being reported that devices fall short in 5G connectivity. According to a report, the Pixel 7 and 7 Pro models only support 5G Release 15, the initial 3GPP standard, instead of the latest 5G standard. Let’s look at the details.

The 3GPP, an engineering organization that develops protocols for mobile telecommunications, is responsible for deriving standards for 5G connectivity. These standards are made available as “releases”. Back in 2018, the organization launched Release 15 as the first 5G standard, which was followed by Release 16 in 2020. Now, as per a 9to5Google report, the latest Pixel 7 models are still on the older 3GPP Release 15.

Other major flagships, such as the latest Galaxy S23 series, can support the newer Release 16. The Release 16 supports the Snapdragon X65 and last year’s X70 modem. According to Qualcomm, Release 16 brings a number of enhancements to the foundational aspects of the 5G system, in terms of coverage, capacity, latency, power, mobility, reliability, ease of deployment, and more.

According to Samsung, the Exynos 5300 modem included in Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro phones is capable of supporting Release 16. Therefore, it is reasonable to expect that these smartphones will receive support for the latest 5G standard with the upcoming Android 14 release later this year.

It’s important to keep in mind that 5G Release 17 has already been launched, announced in July 2022. Furthermore, the upcoming Release 18 is expected to arrive sometime in 2024. Qualcomm has recently announced the Snapdragon X75, which includes support for both 5G Release 17 and 18, just earlier this month.

Some users stated that the button fell off after only a few weeks of use, while others said that it fell off after several months. On several occasions, the button has come off while the phone was in the user’s pocket, causing damage to the device or making retrieval difficult. The issue was initially brought to light by Android Central’s Nick Sutrich, who posted about it with his Pixel 7 Pro. Sutrich discovered the tragic discovery after removing his phone from his pocket and noticing the volume rocker on his Pixel 7 Pro had disengaged.

Furthermore, 9to5Google discovered that Google personnel warned some consumers that an issue like this is not covered by the device’s warranty. Sutrich did, however, receive word from Google that the “staff is aware of the situation” and would be in touch with him soon. A new report talked about how much it costs to manufacture one single unit of the Search Engine giant’s top end flagship model. For a simple answer, Google spends around 413 US Dollars for a single unit. This figure was calculated based on the pricing of components and other costs. However, this report also uncovered a very interesting detail. The 128GB variant of the Pixel 7 Pro has around half of its components being made by the South Korean tech giant, Samsung.

The company was the one who manufactured its tall 6.7 inch AMOLED display, which has a 2K resolution. This panel alone accounts for 20 percent of the Pixel 7 Pro’s total cost. But the screen isn’t the only major component sourced from Samsung. Google’s proprietary chipset on the Pixel 7 Pro, the Tensor G2 SoC, was developed in cooperation with Samsung, which adds another 7 percent in terms of cost.

Google’s new flagship has won the hearts of many for camera performance, and lo and behold, Samsung is also one of the suppliers for its rear cameras. The South Korean brand’s ISOCELL GN1 sensor can be found on both the Pixel 6 Pro and the Pixel 7 Pro. This isn’t the only sensor from Samsung, since its 5x telephoto lens and selfie camera is also made by the company.

Google has been behind the branding of Android smartphones for 13 years now, with the company only starting to manufacture its own handsets in 2016. Despite seven years of self-manufacturing and six years of Nexus co-branding, Google is not yet a global leader in the mobile hardware market. However, the latest quarterly earnings call reveals that the company has broken its own sales records, with the Pixel 6a, 7, and 7 Pro being the “best selling generation of phones” ever launched by Google, according to CEO Sundar Pichai.

The primary selling point of Pixel smartphones has been their cameras and bloatware-free UI, thanks to stock Android running on all Pixel devices. Pixel cameras perform exceptionally well in low-light conditions, with AI doing most of the work rather than the hardware itself. Plus, Google promises to deliver security updates and new features to Pixel phones for three years from the date of release. The devices also integrate seamlessly with Google’s suite of services, such as Google Assistant.

Although Pichai did not mention the exact quarterly shipment figures, it is clear that the Pixel 6a is a hit among consumers. Pichai credits the success of the Pixel phones to features such as Magic Eraser and Photo Unblur, which help the Pixel phones stand out from other devices on the market. In Q2 2022, Google was already the fifth-largest smartphone vendor in the US, with a 2% market share.

Google’s focus on the Pixel family and the hardware department’s overall cost structure suggests that the company is quite dedicated to improving and growing its presence in the smartphone market. Although the specifications for future generations of the Pixel are largely unknown, the leaked information about the Pixel 7a, including its 6.1-inch display with 90Hz refresh rate and 8GB RAM, indicates that it will be the most powerful A-series smartphone by Google. Considering the success of the Pixel 6a, a good price point will contribute a lot towards the success of the upcoming Pixel 7a.

In France, the global fight for the right-to-repair received a defining boost two years ago with the implementation of a mandate that required electronics and appliance manufacturers to provide their customers with repairability scores from 1 to 10, with 10 being the easiest to repair. This provides consumers with important information if they decide whether to fix their products themselves or hire someone to do it. Furthermore, smartphone manufacturers must now publish detailed documentation for their products, specifically repair manuals. The Pixel 6a manual was released last year in 2022. As per the latest reports, Google has published instructions for the repair of the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro.

The support page containing the repair manuals is restricted to users outside of France. However, those who are interested can bypass the restriction by using a VPN. It’s worth noting that these geographical restrictions were not present when the Pixel 6a manual was released last year. Customers in the US and Canada can take advantage of Google’s partnership with uBreakiFix for out-of-warranty and in-warranty Pixel repairs, and customers in other regions can find authorized repair partners from this Google support page.

In April 2022, Google introduced its self-repair program for users in the US, UK, Australia, and Europe, allowing Pixel owners to order authentic device parts from iFixit. Fortunately for Pixel 7 series owners, the program was extended to the Pixel 7 lineup devices last month. It is worth noting that inexperienced users and beginners are advised not to attempt repairs due to the potential risks.

Despite efforts by tech companies to introduce concessions into right-to-repair bills, the fight for the publication of repair manuals without requiring the purchase of parts continues in regions where new laws are being considered. Other smartphone manufacturers such as Apple and Samsung are also offering self-repair services for their customers. Nonetheless, kudos to France for taking a bold step in support of consumer rights.

We have already reported on the Pixel 7 series suffering from an odd issue that causes the phone’s rear camera glass to shatter. However, the number of the people that have been facing this issue is growing but it seems that Google is refusing to acknowledge this issue under warranty claims.

In our previous report, it was found that the Pixel 7 and the Pixel 7 Pro users were suffering from an odd issue that caused the glass on the rear camera to crack and shatter. Back then, there was no official statement from the Search Engine giant regarding this matter. Now, it appears that the number of Pixel 7 users that have been facing this issue has grown but it seems that Google is refusing to take responsibility for it.

Some Redditors took their complaints to the company but to no avail. According to rsaxena699, they fought with Google over this issue. The Redditor added that they “have been struggling to get them to cover this spontaneous shattering under warranty despite sharing countless Reddit articles, google support case IDs, etc. proving that they have covered it under warranty for some customers who have faced the exact same issue. They keep saying they don’t cover “physical damage.”

As of right now, it is still officially unclear what causes the rear camera glass to crack and shatter on the Pixel 7 series. Although there have been reports going around that claim that the issue is caused by the metal camera module frame that surrounds the Pixel 7 series’ cameras. The issue was initially thought to be caused by video quality limitations within Google Meet, but it has also been reported to affect other apps.

To corroborate the observation, a Redditor produced three screen captures from a Google Meet call, one from a Pixel 7, one from an iPad Pro 2018, and one from a Pixel 3XL, and the comparison showed that even the dated Pixel 3XL produced a much better picture quality than this year’s Pixel 7.

It is widely speculated that certain apps do optimize video for certain phone models, however, this doesn’t seem to be the same issue as it is more noticeable in Google Meet, an app created by Google, that if anything should be optimized to work better with Pixel phones. This issue has been reported since October, and it is hoped that Google will address it in a future software update. In the meantime, Google Pixel 7 series users may want to consider using alternative video call apps or devices to ensure better video call quality.

Google has faced a rocky launch cycle with its Pixel 6 series of smartphones. The 2021 flagship lineup were riddled with bugs soon after launch and also faced various other issues. In the past, we have reported on the Pixel 6 series suffering from an issue that made its under display fingergrint scanner slow or unreliable at times. Owners of the Pixel 7 phones have now taken to Twitter and Reddit to show that their device’s rear camera module’s bar glass has began cracking.

According to one of the tweets stated that, “Not even a month, no drops just regular use. Have a case on the phone. Been told Its my problem. Is this really the quality control backed by google? It’s clearly a manufacturing defect, and I know I’m not the only one. Please fix this google!” In other words, it appears that the company’s units might have a defect considering the rear camera glass is shattering without any physical damage.

Similarly on Reddit, a user said that “I pulled my phone out of my pocket and the back camera glass was broken. I must have hit a corner while it was in my pocket. Has anyone else had this problem? I called around to the phone fixing stores and nobody has the replacement parts yet. Don’t really want to have to mail this phone in to have it fixed as it’s currently the only phone I have.” These aren’t far and few in between either since there were multiple reports that faced a similar issue. We have another fresh leak regarding the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra. The smartphone in question is set to be the company’s next gen top premium S23 series model and now we have leaked sample shots that showcase its photographic capabilities.

The news arrives from known tipster Ice Universe who shared the new sample camera shots on Weibo (a Chinese microblogging website). Looking at the initial social media post, we can see that the tipster has shared three images of a zoomed in shot of a pumpkin without any other details being revealed. He also asked Weibo users to vote on which picture is the best, out of the three, with the S23 Ultra taking the win. Ice Universe later revealed that the camera samples were taken from the S23 Ultra, S22 Ultra, and the Pixel 7 Pro.

In other words, this was one of our first looks at camera samples from the Galaxy S23 Ultra as well as an early comparison with Google’s current flagship, the Pixel 7 Pro. Taking a closer look at the images, it is clear the upcoming S23 Ultra model retains the best details and offers the most vibrant shot. Meanwhile, last year’s Galaxy S22 Ultra also offers an image with almost the same level of quality. Lastly, the Pixel 7 Pro’s camera sample retained a fair amount of details but lacked overall vibrancy.

Earlier reports have revealed that the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra will feature a 200 megapixel primary camera that will reportedly be paired with a folded 10 megapixel 10x periscopic zoom sensor, a 12 megapixel ultra wide angle lens, and another 10 megapixel telephoto sensor on the back. The Apple iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max had just recently been launched in the global market. It is the company’s latest flagship grade handset, and it appears that the device has managed to beat some other high end competitors in a battery life comparison.

This battery comparison test was done by PhoneArena on its YouTube channel. In the test, the tech publication compared the new iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max to other flagship grade smartphones. This includes the like of the Google Pixel 7 Pro, Pixel 7, Pixel 6 Pro, and even the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra. While this is admittedly not a very diverse lineup, the Pixel 7 Pro is one of the latest premium device, and the Galaxy S22 Ultra is one of iPhone 14 Pro series biggest competitors in the ultra premium segment.

Here, we can see the new 2022 iPhones dominating the list in multiple tests. The first had the smartphone put through a simulator to replicate typical web browsing. Both iPhone 14 Pro models were hours ahead of the competition. Taking a look at the results:

The top end iPhone 14 model recorded 11 hours of playback, while the Pixel 7 Pro had 9 hours and 39 minutes. Base iPhone 14 Pro offered around 9 hours and 14 minutes of runtime. While one would assume that its because both iPhones have the biggest batteries, but in actuality the two models have the smallest battery capacities in the entire list. So, Apple has clearly managed to offer a stellar battery life performance on its latest smartphones.

Google recently launched the Pixel 7 and 7 Pro globally, and it looks like they are selling pretty well this year. The devices pack some solid upgrades in terms of display, camera, and software. The search giant also promised battery life improvements with the new Pixel smartphones, but a new report suggests otherwise.

According to XDA Developers, the Pixel 7 Pro’s display adversely affects its total battery life. While testing the device, they noticed that its display consumes a lot of power as the brightness increases to maximum. It was found that the battery of the phone dropped by 10% after just fifteen minutes of screen time.

The report states that the power consumption of the Pixel 7 Pro is between 3.5 and 4 watts at 600 nits of brightness. But at the maximum brightness of 1500 nits, it goes up to a massive 6W, resulting in a significant battery drain.

For comparison, the publication says the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra uses 4W at 1000 nits of brightness, whereas the Pixel 6 Pro consumes 4W of power at around 800 nits of brightness. This indicates that the problem is only with the Pixel 7 Pro. There doesn’t seem to be a similar issue with the vanilla Pixel 7.

It is worth mentioning that using the phone indoors and at a low brightness will likely not cause such battery drain, and users may only notice it while using the device at a higher brightness for a longer time. Google can easily fix this problem with an update if it is a software issue. However, it will not be possible to make the panel more efficient if the problem lies in the hardware of the device.

Google launched its flagship Pixel 7 series last week. The lineup included a regular and Pro variant. Now the Pixel 7 Pro has bagged the top overall score in camera ranking according to benchmarking platform DxO Mark. The smartphone scored 147 points globally and the Honor Magic4 Ultimate also matched the same score. This means that both Pixel 7 Pro and Honor Magic4 Ultimate are tied at the number one spot. Last month’s iPhone 14 Pro Max came second in the last by just a point short. 

Google’s Pixel phones are known for photography prowess. The Pixel 7 Pro managed to score 147 and 143 points in the photo and video categories respectively. As per DxO Mark, the smartphone packs significant improvements over the last year’s Pixel 6 Pro. The latest generation features software tuning that is said to contribute to better zoom and video quality. The device holds the top score in the benchmark platform’s Friends and Family use case with strong contrast preservation, skin tone reproduction, and better exposure. The smartphone delivered a consistent camera experience across all usage cases and features. 

DxO Mark also states that the Pixel 7 Pro offers fast and accurate autofocus capabilities along with face tracking. The zoom performance has also been improved with good details at all zoom distances. Apart from the upsides on the Pixel 7 Pro’s camera performance, there are a few downsides as well. Video performance tends to be underexposed in low light with the main camera. There’s also a slight loss of detail and image noise at close-range zoom. The front camera also produced out-of-focus images when shooting at close range. 

To recall the camera specifications, the Pixel 7 Pro sports triple rear cameras. The setup comprises a 50MP main snapper with OIS, a 12MP ultra-wide-angle lens, and a 48MP telephoto unit with 30x zoom. There is an 11.1MP selfie snapper.

DESIGN

The Pixel 7 Pro and the Pixel 6 Pro might look quite similar to each other. But there are some differences that set the new device apart from its predecessor. 

The basic design of the Pixel 7 Pro is still inspired by the Pixel 6 Pro’s horizontal camera bar. But this time around, Google decided to upgrade the camera bar to polished aluminum. To recall, the horizontal camera bar on the Pixel 6 Pro was made out of glass, which made it more prone to scratches. So this is a welcome change for most users and gives the Pixel 7 Pro a more premium look. 

The back and front get Corning’s Gorilla Glass Victus protection on both devices. The Pixel 7 Pro comes in Obsidian, Snow, and Hazel color options. On the other hand, the Pixel 6 Pro offered Sorta Sunny, Cloudy White, and Stormy Black color options last year. Both the devices are IP68 certified, so they are dust and water-resistant. 

Coming to the dimensions, the Pixel 7 Pro at 162.9 x 76.6 x 8.9 mm is slightly narrower than the Pixel 6 Pro but is a few millimeters taller. They weigh around the same figure, with the Pixel 7 Pro weighing 212 grams vs 210 grams on the Pixel 6 Pro model. 

Clearly, if you look at the design alone, the Pixel 7 Pro looks a bit more refined and premium than its predecessor. But for many users, this difference might not be very significant and it’ll depend upon an individual’s preference to decide which phone is the better-looking model.  

DISPLAY

The Pixel 7 Pro comes with a large 6.7-inch pOLEd panel with QHD+ resolution and a high 120Hz refresh rate. The Pixel 6 Pro has an identical display, but there’s one major difference. Google has increased the peak brightness on the Pixel 7 Pro to up 25% when compared to its predecessor and now boasts up to 1500 nits. Like its predecessors, the Pixel 7 Pro also comes with an Always On Display.

One of the biggest upgrades this year is the use of a new under-display fingerprint sensor on the Pixel 7 Pro. To recall, Pixel 6 Pro’s fingerprint sensor had a lot of complaints, which the new model will not suffer from. 

Overall, both the displays are very good for their price, and you can’t really go wrong with either one of them. 

SPECS

Hardware is one area where the two phones differ significantly. This is because the Pixel 7 Pro comes with the latest Google Tensor G2 chip inside with Titan M2 security chip, bringing better performance over the first-generation model, especially in AI and ML tasks. The Tensor G2 comes with 2 x Cortex-X1 cores, 2 x Cortex-A78 cores, and 4 x Cortex-A55 cores. It may not be the fastest chip in the market, but it’s powerful enough to handle intensive apps with ease.  

In comparison, the Pixel 6 Pro comes with the first-generation Tensor chipset, which is also good but lacks support for some of the newer features found on the latest Pixel 7 series. 

When it comes to the RAM configuration, the Pixel 7 Pro maxes out at 12GB of RAM, with up to 512GB of UFS 3.1 storage on board. This is identical to what was offered on the Pixel 6 Pro last year. 

The Pixel 7 Pro runs on the latest Google Android 13 OS. While being a year-old device, the Pixel 6 Pro can also be upgraded to the new Android 13 version. Also, since Google has promised at least three OS updates and 5 years of security updates on both devices, the Pixel 7 Pro should get Android version updates till 2025 while the Pixel 6 Pro’s major Android updates should last until 2024.

CONNECTIVITY

In terms of connectivity, both phones come with Wi-Fi 6e support, Bluetooth 5.2, aptX HD codecs support, NFC, and a USB-C 3.2 port at the bottom. They also feature dual SIM via nano and eSIM. 

You also get an under-display fingerprint sensor along with other sensors like gyro, proximity, compass, and barometer.

CAMERAS

The Pixel 7 Pro comes with a similar camera setup as its predecessor. It still features a triple-camera module with a 50MP primary shooter, with 12MP ultra-wide camera, and a 48MP telephoto camera. While on paper the Pixel 6 Pro has very similar specs, the new model brings a wider ultra-wide camera (125-degree FoV vs 114-degree FoV), and a better telephoto lens with support for up to 5X optical zoom (vs 4X on the Pixel 6 Pro) and 30X Super Res Zoom. 

The Tensor G2 chip also enables some new features on the Pixel 7 Pro like Macro Focus, Photo Unblur, and even Cinematic Blur. Other camera features common to the two devices include Magic Eraser, Real Tone, and Face Unblur. 

Another big change is in the video recording department as the Pixel 7 Pro can now record videos in 4K 60fps using all three sensors on board. It also adds a 10-bit HDR mode. 

As for the front camera, you get a 10.8MP sensor on the Pixel 7 Pro, while the 6 Pro had an 11.8MP shooter. 

BATTERY

The Pixel 7 Pro comes with a large 5000mAh battery with 30W wired and 23W wireless charging. This is the same capacity and charging speed as the Pixel 6 Pro. 

Note that in most regions, Google doesn’t ship a charger inside the box. 

PRICE

The Pixel 7 Pro starts at $899 in the USA. This price is similar to the starting price of the Pixel 6 Pro but being a year-old device, its available for a much cheaper price now around $649.

In India, the Pixel 7 Pro will cost you INR 84,999, but the Pixel 6 Pro is already available on Amazon for less than INR 60,000 pricing. 

Google Pixel 7 Pro vs Pixel 6 Pro – VERDICT

The Pixel 7 Pro brings considerable upgrades in the processing and camera departments, so it makes sense to pay a few hundred dollars more to get the latest model over its predecessor. However, if you already have the Pixel 6 Pro, the upgrades may not be significant enough to purchase the new device.

Google announced the new Pixel 7 series at one of its biggest product events of 2022, Made by Google on October 6. As a result, we have two very competitive smartphones in the market, the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro. Both look very good on paper and are priced a few hundred dollars apart. One of the biggest highlights of the two phones is that they are powered by the powered by the second-gen Tensor G2 processor, which is an upgrade over last year’s Tensor chip. Notably, they will also have a long software support cycle, with Google promising at least three OS updates and 5 years of security patches.

While the two phones look very similar, they have slightly different dimensions and display sizes. Naturally, the Pro will have a bigger footprint over the regular Pixel 7 which focuses on a more compact form factor. Even the cameras and battery capacities are quite different between the two phones, so we decided to compare the two models, the Pixel 7 vs Pixel 7 Pro today. 

Let’s see how these models are similar as well as dissimilar in different departments. 

Google Pixel 7 vs Pixel 7 Pro

DESIGN

The Pixel 7 series doesn’t bring any significant upgrades over its predecessor. So you get the same horizontal camera bar at the back as the Pixel 6 series. However, they are a few upgrades in this bar design, like now it’s made of aluminum and curves into the sides. Notably, this camera bar at the back has a matte finish on the Pixel 7, unlike the glossy one of the 7 Pro. The back is made out of Corning’s Gorilla Glass Victus, so you get a pretty good level of durability too. 

Overall, the Pixel 7 series looks a lot more refined and premium this year, and with choices for up to 3 colors, you likely won’t be disappointed with its design. The Pixel 7 and 7 Pro come in two similar colors, Obsidian, and Snow. But the Lemongrass (Pixel 7) and Hazel (Pixel 7 Pro) are exclusive to their respective models.  Note that they are IP68 dust and water-resistant too. 

When you look at the exact dimensions, the Pixel 7 is a lot more compact than its Pro sibling. It measures 155.6 x 73.2 x 8.7mm vs 162.9 x 76.6 x 8.9 mm on the Pro model. So the Pixel 7 Pro is both taller and wider than the standard model and may not be suited for one-handed use. The standard model is lighter too at 197 grams vs 212 grams of the Pro model.

It’s clear that Pixel 7 is targeted at users who want a more compact experience, while the Pro brings the benefit of a much larger display. 

DISPLAY

The two phones also differ in terms of their displays. The Pixel 7 comes with a smaller 6.4-inch OLED panel with Full HD+ resolution and a 90Hz refresh rate. On the other hand, the Pixel 7 Pro features a large 6.7-inch pOLEd panel with QHD+ resolution and a higher 120Hz refresh rate too. Another big difference is in the style of their displays. The Pixel 7 comes with a flat panel, while the Pro model brings a curved edge panel on the front. There’s a slight difference in the peak display brightness too, with the Pixel 7 Pro maxing out at 1500 nits while the Pixel 7 getting a 1400 nit screen. 

SPECS

In terms of hardware, the two phones are very similar. They both come with the new Google Tensor G2 chip inside with Titan M2, bringing identical performance. The Tensor G2 comes with 2 x Cortex-X1 cores, 2 x Cortex-A78 cores, and 4 x Cortex-A55 cores. It may not be the fastest chip in the market, but it’s powerful enough to handle intensive tasks with ease. 

In terms of the RAM configuration, the Pixel 7 Pro maxes out at 12GB of RAM, while the Pixel 7 comes in a single 8GB RAM option. The UFS 3.1 storage goes up to 256GB on the Pixel 7 while the Pro takes it a level further with 512GB of ROM. 

It shouldn’t come as a surprise that both models run the latest Android 13 stock version. Google has promised at least three OS updates and 5 years of security updates on both devices, which will ensure a very long life for these phones, much like their predecessors. 

CONNECTIVITY

In terms of connectivity, both phones come with Wi-Fi 6e support, Bluetooth 5.2, aptX HD codecs support, NFC, and a USB-C 3.2 port at the bottom.

You also get an under-display optical fingerprint sensor along with other sensors like gyro, proximity, compass, and barometer.

CAMERAS

As for its camera module, the Pixel 7 features a dual-camera setup, while the Pro version adds a third 48MP telephoto lens at the back. 

The Pixel 7 comes with a 50MP primary camera and a 12MP ultra-wide sensor. On the other hand, the Pixel 7 Pro has a 50MP primary shooter, a 12MP ultra-wide shooter, and a 48MP camera with up to 5X optical zoom. Both phones are capable of recording 4K videos at 60 fps. 

As for the front camera, you get a 10.8MP sensor on both devices for selfies and video calls.

BATTERY

The Pixel 7 comes with a smaller 4335mAh battery with 30W fast charging and 15W wireless charging. On the other hand, the Pixel 7 Pro features a larger 5000mAh battery with the same charging speeds for both wired and wireless charging as the standard model. 

Note that in most regions, Google isn’t shipping a charger inside the box. 

PRICE

The Pixel 7 retails at $599 while the Pixel 7 Pro starts at $899 in the USA. In India, the Pixel 7 is priced at INR 59,999 while the Pixel 7 Pro will cost INR 84,999. But there are pre-order offers on both devices in multiple markets, which should bring the price down at the time of purchase.

If you want a compact device with a good set of cameras and processing power, the Pixel 7 looks like a good choice. On the other hand, if you want more features in the camera department, it might make sense to get the Pro version for a few hundred dollars more.

The Pixel 7 Pro is powered by a new 5nm Google Tensor G2 chipset paired with LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 storage. It boots Android 13 with numerous Pixel-exclusive software features powered by AI and ML.

The device flaunts a 6.7-inch 120Hz LTPO curved AMOLED display with a QHD+ (3120 x 1440 pixels) resolution and a peak brightness level of 1,500 nits. The panel is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus and it houses a fingerprint sensor underneath it.

The handset comes with a triple camera system comprising a 50MP primary sensor, a 48MP 5x periscope camera, and a 12MP ultra-wide unit. On the front, it sports a 10.8MP snapper for selfies and video calls.

The main highlight of the device is the Samsung Galaxy ecosystem experience. It comes with features like Dex, Samsung Pay, Quick Share, Bixby routines, guaranteed 4 Android updates, and more.

The camera setup is not as powerful as the Pixel 7 Pro’s. But it does arrive with a capable triple camera system comprising a 50MP primary snapper, a 12MP ultra-wide unit, and a 10MP 3x telephoto shooter.

In India, the Samsung Galaxy S22 Plus is priced at ₹84,999 and ₹88,999 for 8GB + 128GB and 8GB + 256GB memory variants, respectively. However, it can be purchased at a much lower price from almost all retailers across the country.

Apple iPhone 14

Though the iPhone 14 does not bring a major upgrade over the iPhone 13, it is still a good buy for those coming from much older iPhones and even older Android smartphones.

The USP of the 2022 iPhone includes a 12MP f/1.5 primary camera, a 12MP selfie camera with autofocus, and a slightly larger 3,279mAh battery. Apart from these major differences, it is almost the same as the 2021 iPhone.

In India, the iPhone 14 costs ₹79,900, ₹89,900, and ₹1,09,900 for 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB memory variants, respectively.

The Google Launch event on October 6 has seen the expected unveiling of the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro smartphones. The new pair of smartphones come with some improvements in their camera setup and are powered by the second-gen Tensor G2 processor, an improvement over last year’s Tensor chip. Both smartphones will receive at least three OS updates and 5 years of security patches.

Display & Specs – Pixel 7

The Pixel 7 is the smaller model and less expensive. It is slightly bigger than the Pixel 6a and has a 6.3-inch display. It has a flat AMOLED panel with FHD+ resolution and a 90Hz refresh rate. The Pixel 7 has 8GB RAM paired with either 128GB or 256GB of storage. It comes with a 4,355mAh battery with the Extreme Battery Saver Mode giving up to 72 hours of activity. Power efficiency is great with the Pixel 7 as its battery can last up to 31 hours on normal usage.

Display & Specs – Pixel 7 Pro

The flagship Pixel 7 Pro comes with a 6.71-inch AMOLED screen with a variable refresh rate of up to 120Hz. The screen is protected by Gorilla Glass Victus. The Pixel 7 Pro sports a distinctive image and offers several security features. It is also expected that the Google Pixel 7 Pro will enjoy extended software support. Its camera setup consists of 50MP wide, 12MP ultra-wide, and 48MP telephoto modules. The ultra-wide sensor comes with autofocus for macro.

The Google Pixel 7 Pro retains the same CPU as its predecessor but with marginal improvements in clock speed. The new Tensor G2 chipset uses Samsung’s 4nm process, which is a little improvement over the 5nm node. The GPU is a Mali-G710 MC10 that offers a 35% performance boost over the G78 in machine learning tasks. A new Tensor core and modem are also part of the Pixel 7 Pro.

A 12GB RAM is on offer for the Pixel 7 Pro in combination with 128GB/ 256GB/ 512GB storage options. An in-display fingerprint scanner provides an additional layer of security for the Google flagship. A 5,000mAh battery is embedded in the smartphone with support for fast charging.

The Google Pixel 7 starts at $600 while the Pixel 7 Pro will retail from $900. Both models are now available for pre-order and sales begin on October 13. A free pair of Pixel Buds Pro and a free Pixel Watch respectively are offered as pre-order incentives.

Ahead of the October 7 Made by Google event, a tipster has leaked two ads for the upcoming Google Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro smartphones. Tipster Snoopy Tech released a pair of 30 seconds ads via Twitter and the videos show some innovations in the two models.

As per the leaked videos, the Pixel 7 Pro comes with a new Macro Focus feature that allows for snap close-ups. The Super Res zoom in the Pixel 7 Pro is much improved from its predecessor, the Pixel 6 Pro. We now have 6x optical zoom and 30x hybrid zoom. The new Macro Focus feature is however lacking in the Pixel 7. Both models feature Cinematic Blur, similar to the iPhone’s Cinematic Mode. The Cinematic Blur functionality allows the camera to shift between two objects while keeping one sharply focused and the other image blurred in the background.

The Extreme Battery Mode of the new models allows for up to 72 hours of activity on a single charge. However, most of the apps are disabled although the user can choose the apps that can be running under this mode. You can choose the apps that you want to run under the mode by assessing the settings menu and navigating through the Extreme Battery Saver option.

As of writing this article, three brands had scheduled launches. Whereas, the remaining phones on the list are based on leaks and rumors.

Anyway, we expect almost every handset on the list to go official in October. In fact, even more devices that are not on the list could also release.

These forthcoming phones are spread across different price categories. Unsurprisingly, they are also targeted at different consumers.

With that out of the way, let’s take a look at all the expected handset launches in the next few weeks.

Upcoming Smartphones in October 2022

Xiaomi 12T Series

The Xiaomi 12T series is scheduled to launch on October 4. The two phones, namely Xiaomi 12T and Xiaomi 12T Pro will be announced at an event planned for 2 PM GMT+2.

The Pro model is said to arrive with a 200MP Samsung ISOCELL HP1 camera, Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 SoC, 120Hz OLED display, and 120W fast-wired charging support. On the other hand, the vanilla version is expected to feature a MediaTek Dimensity 8100-Ultra chipset and a 108MP main camera.

The handsets are also anticipated to offer dual stereo speakers tuned by Haram Kardon, an IR blaster, a liquid cooling system, and more.

Infinix Zero Ultra

The Infinix Zero Ultra is set to go official on October 5. As per teasers and leaks, it will be the most feature-rich Infinix smartphone to date. The brand has partnered with Royal Museums Greenwich for the launch.

The phone is expected to come with a 200MP primary camera, MediaTek Dimensity 920 chip, 6.7-inch 120Hz curved AMOLED display, 5,000mAh battery, and 180W fast wired charging support.

The device is tipped to boot Android 12 and will be available in black and white color options. 

Infinix Hot 20 Series

The Infinix Hot 20 series will be announced on October 6. The smartphones will make their global debut in October. The conference will begin at 4 PM GMT+7.

According to leaks, the standard Hot 20 model will arrive with a 6.78-inch FHD+ 120Hz display (LCD), MediaTek Helio G96 chip, 8GB RAM, 5GB virtual RAM, and 128GB storage. Unfortunately, we don’t have further details on the handset as well as the Pro or any other version. 

Anyway, rumors suggest that the Infinix Hot 20 series could be identical to the Infinix Hot 12 series in terms of features.

Google Pixel 7 Series

Google has its annual fall launch event called Made By Google scheduled for October 6. The search giant has confirmed to unveil the Pixel 7 series at this conference.

According to leaks, the Pixel 7 series will come with Tensor G2 SoC, Titan M2 chip, Android 13, 50MP main camera, 12MP ultra-wide camera, 10.8MP front-facing camera,in-screen fingerprint sensor, 30W fast wired charging support, wireless charging support, dual stereo speakers, and IP68 rating.

The vanilla model will feature a 6.3-inch FHD+ 90Hz flat OLED display and a 4,700mAh battery. Whereas, the Pro variant will offer a  6.7-inch QHD+ 120Hz curved LTPO OLED display, a 48MP 5x telephoto camera, and a 5,000mAh battery.

Redmi A1 Plus

A few weeks back, Xiaomi launched the Redmi A1. As per leaks, the company may soon release a variant of this phone called the Redmi A1 Plus.

The Redmi A1 Plus is basically a Redmi A1 with a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor. Apart from this single change, it will retail all the features of the original model.

Hence, it will arrive with a 6.52-inch HD+ display (LCD), MediaTek Helio A22 chipset, Android 12 Go Edition, 8MP rear camera, 5MP front-facing camera, 5,000mAh battery, and 10W wired charging support.

Redmi Note 11 Pro 2023

The upcoming Redmi Note 11 Pro 2023 is nothing but a rebranded Redmi Note 10 Pro (aka Redmi Note 10 Pro Max) from 2021. The exact launch date is not known but it is expected to go official in the next few weeks.

According to leaks, the Redmi Note 11 Pro 2023 will come with a 6.67-inch FHD+ 120Hz AMOLED display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 732G SoC, 108MP primary camera, 8MP ultra-wide camera, 5MP telemacro camera, 16MP selfie camera, dual stereo speakers, side-mounted fingerprint sensor, 5,020mAh battery, and 33W fast charging support.

There’s only a ‘global’ variant of this smartphone. Hence, it may release in markets like Europe and Southeast Asia.

Tecno Pova 4

Tecno Pova 4 is tipped to launch around mid or late October. It will be somewhat similar to the Tecno Povo Neo 2.

The handset will have a  flat frame design. It is said to feature a 6.82-inch HD+ 90Hz display (LCD), MediaTek Helio G99 chipset, 50MP main camera, 6,000mAh battery, and 18W fast-wired charging support.

It will boot Android 12 and will offer features like Panther Engine 2.0 and Game Space 2.0.

Unlike the last few weeks, there will be multiple smartphone launches next week. Four different brands have scheduled events. Some of these conferences will witness the announcement of more than one phone.

The companies that have confirmed to debut new handsets in the coming days are Motorola, Xiaomi, Infinix, and Google. The Motorola announcement will be limited to India, while the presentation by other brands will be global.

All of these forthcoming phones are either mid-ranger or flagship. But none of them will be foldable.

With that out of the way, let’s look at these devices one by one.

Upcoming Smartphones Next Week

Motorola Moto G72

Motorola has confirmed to launch the Moto G72 in India on October 3. The handset will be announced at 12 PM via social media.

According to leaks and teasers, the device will arrive with a 6.55-inch 10-bit 120Hz pOLED display, MediaTek Helio G99 SoC, 108MP primary camera, 16MP selfie camera, dual stereo speakers, 5,000mAh battery, and 33W fast wired charging support.

In Europe, the 8GB + 128GB variant of the phone is tipped to retail at around $300. Hence, it is expected to be cheaper than that in India.

Xiaomi 12T Series

The Xiaomi 12T series is in the news for a very long time. The lineup is finally set to go official on October 4. It will be unveiled at an event scheduled for 2 PM GMT+2 in Munich. The conference will be live-streamed on YouTube and other social media.

The Xiaomi 12T Series will include a vanilla and pro model. The latter will feature a 200MP Samsung ISOCELL HP1 primary camera and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 chipset. Whereas, the former will feature a 108MP main camera and a MediaTek Dimensity 8100 chip.

These smartphones could be accompanied by Redmi Pad, Xiaomi Band 7 Pro, and Redmi A1 Plus.

Infinix Zero Ultra

The Infinix Zero Ultra is scheduled to launch on October 5. Unfortunately, the brand hasn’t revealed the time.

As per teasers and leaks, the handset will come with a 6.7-inch 120Hz curved AMOLED display, 200MP primary camera, 8MP telephoto camera, 8MP ultra-wide camera, 32MP selfie camera, MediaTek Dimensity 920 SoC, 5,000mAh battery, and 180W fast-wired charging support.

The device will boot Android 12 and it will be available in two colors, namely black and white. The brand has partnered with Royal Museums Greenwich for the launch of this smartphone.

Google Pixel 7 Series

The Google Pixel 7 series will be presented at the Made By Google event scheduled for October 6. The conference will begin at 10 AM ET and will be live-streamed on YouTube.

The Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro will offer minor upgrades over their predecessors. They are said to come with a slightly tweaked design, Tensor G2 chip, 50MP main camera, 12MP ultra-wide camera, in-screen fingerprint sensor, Android 13, and 33W fast-wired charging support.

The Pro model is tipped to feature a larger 6.7-inch QHD+ 120Hz OLED display, a 48MP telephoto camera, and a 5,000mAh battery. Whereas, the stand version is expected to arrive with a 6.3-inch FHD+ 90Hz OLED display and a 4,700mAh battery.

These phones will be accompanied by Google’s first smartwatch: Pixel Watch.

The rumor mill is now actively spilling information about the Pixel 7 series ahead of its Oct. 6 global launch event. 91mobiles recently published to release the press renders of the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro. Now, well-known tipster Evan Blass has shared press renders of the Pixel 7 duo. Unlike the previously seen images, the new images do not have a watermark.

The Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro have a similar design language. Both phones have a punch-hole display on the front. While the Pixel 7 has a flat screen, the Pro model’s display has a slight curvature.

There is a protruding camera bar on the backside of the Pixel 7 and 7 Pro. The vanilla gets a dual-camera system, while the company is offering a triple camera unit on the Pro variant. The Pixel 7 and 7 Pro come in Obsidian (black) and Snow (white) colors. The vanilla model will also come in Lemongrass, whereas the Pro edition will arrive in Hazel as well.

Google Pixel 7, Pixel 7 Pro specifications, price (rumored)

The Pixel 7v will arrive with a 6.3-inch FHD+ OLED 90Hz display, whereas the Pixel 7 Pro will be equipped with a 6.7-inch QHD+ OLED 120Hz screen. Both phones will feature an in-display fingerprint scanner. The Tensor G2 chip powers both smartphones. Both models will come preloaded with the Android 13 OS.

The Pixel 7 Pro will have a 50-megapixel main camera, a 12-megapixel ultra-wide lens, and a 48-megapixel telephoto snapper on the back. The Pixel 7 will feature the same main camera and the ultra-wide on its rear shell.

The Pixel 7 series will come with up to 12 GB of RAM and up to 256 GB of storage. The vanilla model will house a 4,700mAh battery, while the Pro model will pack a 5,000mAh battery. Both smartphones will support 33W fast charging and wireless charging. Both models are expected to start at $599 and $899, respectively.

Google Pixel 7 series is set to launch at the ‘Made by Google’ event on October 6th. The search giant had already revealed the Pixel 7 and 7 Pro at its annual I/O Developer conference earlier this year. The upcoming offerings have been subject to a lot of leaks and rumours leaving almost nothing to the imagination except the smartphone’s front fascia. Now publication 91Mobiles in collaboration with reliable tipster Ishan Agarwal has shared high-quality renders of the Pixel 7 series.

The Google Pixel 7 series will debut as the successors to the last year’s Pixel 6 series. They are confirmed to pack upgrades and improvements over their predecessors. In the latest leaked renders, the Pixel 7 and 7 Pro don’t look much different from the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro The upcoming offerings have the same centre-aligned punch-hole display with symmetrical bezels on all sides. The Pro variant has slightly curved edges. There is a volume and power rocker button on the right side. 

The most notable change on the Pixel 7 series is the design of the back panel and camera module. The next-generation flagship offerings from Google will ditch the dual-tone design found on previous generation Pixel phones. Compared to the Pixel 6 series, their successors are confirmed to come with an aluminium horizontal bridge on the back panel housing dual cameras in a pill-shaped cutout and a third lens paired with LED flash outside. The camera visor protrudes above the flat back panel. 

Apart from this, the Pixel 7 and 7 Pro’s key specifications have been leaked recently and both devices are expected to pack incremental upgrades. We will know more details about the devices at next week’s launch.

Google is planning on launching its latest flagship Pixel 7 series for the global market soon. The lineup includes the new base Pixel 7 and the higher end Pixel 7 Pro models. The launch is believed to be set for October 6, and the pre-orders for the more expensive variant will also be going on pre-order on the same date.

As per the Search Engine giant’s promotional video, it was revealed that the new Pixel 7 Pro will go on pre-order starting from October 6. In other words, the company is planning on making the device available on the same day it gets officially announced in the market. While this doesn’t sound like notable news, there are some manufacturers that typically delay the pre-orders like Apple.

The Cupertino based giant had announced the iPhone 14 series back on September 7, but the pre orders did not begin by September 9. Furthermore, the original promotional video only refers to the Pixel 7 Pro specifically. However, it is believed that the entire Pixel 7 series will be available for pre-orders during the same date. But, we will have to wait for the official September 7 announcement to know all of the details.

Keep in mind that the vanilla Pixel 7 model might be made available in the market a bit later, since smartphone makers also roll out their latest launches in a staggered manners as well at times. An example being Apple making the iPhone 14 Plus available for pre orders on the same day as the rest, but did not its delivery.

The Search Engine giant took to its official Twitter handle for Japan and shared a tweet. However, this tweet wasn’t a simple announcement post. Rather, the Google Japan Twitter handle shared a link to its website that showed four different colorways that linked to different kinds of potato chip flavors. Looking at these colors, there is an Hazel Onion color for the off green color, Salty Lemon for the lime green option, Obsidian Pepper for the black variant, and Snow Cheese for the white version.

To put things simply, the brand basically revealed the color options for the Pixel 7 Pro in a very unique manner that included potato chips of all things. Notably, Google’s images have also revealed that the base Pixel 7 model will launch in Black and Lime Green option, so it appears that the off green and white color variants might b exclusive to the higher end Pro variant.

Although, this is still not confirmed and these colors may not be locked to just a single model. Furthermore, the tweet while weird isn’t exactly something that Google has pulled for the first time. It has used actual foods to advertise its smartphones before, with the Pixel 4 devices in fun cereal box style packages.

Google has confirmed that it will launch the next generation of Pixel smartphones, aka the Pixel 7 series, on October 6 at 10 a.m. ET. The camera and display specs of the devices have already leaked. Now, known tipster Roland Quandt has leaked the storage options for the European variant of the devices.

According to Quandt, both the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro will be offered in two storage options – 128GB and 256GB. It is likely that more regions could also be limited to these two options.

Google Pixel 7 series specs (expected)

The Pixel 7 series will look similar to the Pixel 6 series.  The Pixel 7 will be equipped with dual cameras, while the Pixel 7 Pro will be outfitted with triple cameras. A 50MP main camera (Samsung GN1) and a 13MP (Sony IMX38) ultrawide camera are rumored to be included in the phones. The 7 Pro will also have a 48MP telephoto camera (Samsung GM1). Both variants are anticipated to feature a 10.87MP (Samsung 3J1) front camera.

While the Pixel 7 Pro will have a 6.7-inch 120Hz OLED display, the Pixel 7 will have a 6.4-inch 90Hz OLED panel. The latest Google Tensor G2 processor will power both devices. We can expect both devices to ship with Android 13.0 as far as the software is concerned. Other details are likely to emerge as we get closer to the October 6 launch date, so stay tuned.

We could be in for a raft of product launches from search engine giant Google. The Google Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro, together with other models, have appeared on the FCC website. These devices join the previous Google products listed earlier this week on FCC like the Nest WiFi Routers yesterday. The Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro are expected to launch on October 13.

The Pixel 7 series on the FCC radar have model numbers GE2AE, GP4B6, GVU6C, and GQML3. The current Pixel 7 series models are all compatible with 5G network connectivity. There are slight differences in terms of the network bands available in the GQML3 and GVU6C. The GQML3 has 5G n250 and n261 bands in addition to what obtains for the GVU6C. There is also a minor difference between the GE2AE and GP4B6 with the 5G n259, n260, and n261.

The Google Pixel 7 series also supports Wi-Fi 6E in addition to Wi-Fi 2.4 and 5GHz. The series also supports Bluetooth, NFC, GSM GPRS EGPRS, HSDPA, HSUPA, and WPT connectivity. As per the FCC details, the GQML3 and GVU6C are the Pixel 7 devices while the GE2AE and GP4BC are Pixel 7 Pro models. The Pixel 7 models are basically unchanged from their predecessors, the Pixel 6. Up to 8GB of RAM is available in the models and 128GB of internal storage. The Pixel 7 Pro has a triple rear camera setup while the Pixel 7 has a dual rear camera module.

The Pixel 7 Pro has a 6.7-inch OLED display, slightly larger than the 6.4-inch display with a 90 Hz refresh rate of the Pixel 7. Much of the details about the Pixel 7 series have been through leaks, as Google is yet to provide a comprehensive outline of the upcoming flagships. The FCC listing of the devices, however, indicates an imminent launch.

An Android 13 Beta source code has provided some confirmation that the Google Pixel 7 Pro will have a brighter display than the Pixel 6 Pro. Previous leaks have indicated that the Pixel 7 Pro has the S6E3HC4 display panel. This puts the Pixel 7 Pro at par with its predecessor in terms of resolution. However, the source code shows that in manual mode, the Pixel 7 Pro can reach 600 nits of brightness ahead of its predecessor.

Both the Pixel 7 Pro and Pixel 6 Pro have resolutions of 3120 x 1440 pixels. The Pixel 6 Pro has the S6E3HC4 panel compared to the S6E3HC4 for the Pixel 7 Pro. While the Pixel 6 Pro can achieve a maximum of 500 nits of brightness in manual mode, the Pixel 7 Pro is 100 nits higher at 700 nits. In Auto mode, the Pixel 7 Pro gets up to 1,000 nits compared to 800 nits for the Pixel 6 Pro. The numbers stated above are for all-white displays (100% APL). At lower levels of the APL, the brightness can be higher.

Thanks to the source code, some additional features of the Pixel 7 Pro were revealed. We now know that it will have an HDR10 display with support for HGL imagery. It also has a 1080p mode to ensure lower power consumption. There are no indications yet that the Pixel 6 Pro’s panel will support HDR10+.

There are no official confirmations yet on the rumored October 2022 release date for the Pixel 7 lineup. There are more leaks that could surface relating to the Google Pixel 7 series. We are at least three months away from the launch and much is still unknown about the Pixel 7 series.

Samsung is once again working with Google to create the next 2nd Generation Tensor SoC that will be underpinned in the upcoming Pixel 7 and 7 Pro, as per a report. The upcoming Pixel phones are expected to be launched later this year.

Naver News, citing sources, has reported that Samsung is collaborating with Google to create the Tensor 2 SoC and the South Korean tech giant will begin mass-producing Google’s second-generation Tensor chipset on the 4nm process from June. The Tensor 2 chip will power the Pixel 7 series which is expected to be released in October.

It is to be noted that Samsung Electronics also manufactured the first-generation tensor chip used in the Pixel 6 series. It will also power the Pixel 6a, which will launch in July. The previous Tensor chip was made using a 5nm process, however, the second-generation tensor is said to be made using Samsung’s 4nm approach.

The report also mentions that the chip will be manufactured using panel-level packaging (PLP) technology. “PLP is a packaging technique in which chips cut from a wafer are placed on a rectangular panel. It is possible to minimize the discarded edges, thereby reducing cost and improving productivity,” as per the report.

Samsung has already supplied Google with DRAM and NAND flash components, as well as the chipsets used in Waymo’s autonomous vehicles. The company is also said to be in talks with Google to create chips for additional purposes, such as Google’s own server processors.

As mentioned, the Google Pixel 7 series is going to launch later this year. The smartphones will feature the same display as the previous generation models and run Android 13 out of the box. The smartphones feature a bar-shaped rear camera module made of aluminum.

Google will be announcing the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro flagship phones in October of this year. However, a new report by 9to5 Google suggests that the company could be working on another high-end Pixel flagship phone. It appears that this device may come equipped with a high-end display.

The upcoming Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro have “Panther” and “Cheetah” codenames. The “P10” and “C10,” found in the AOSP, are shorthand versions of the Cheetah and Panther devices. Recently, the publication found a code in the Android Open Source Project (AOSP) that revealed display details of both phones. It was found that the Pixel 7 supports a Full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels and up to a 90Hz refresh rate, whereas the Pixel 7 Pro offers a Quad HD+ resolution of 1440 x 3210 pixels and up to a 120Hz refresh rate. It was also found that the Pixel 7 and 7 Pro were using the same Samsung panels that were made available on the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro smartphones.

Fresh information shared by the publication reveals that it has found details of two other Pixel devices that have “Felix” and “Lynx” codenames. It is speculated that the Felix device could be the Pixel 7a, while the identity of the other device is yet to be confirmed. The Lynx device could probably be the delayed Pixel Notepad foldable phone, which is expected to feature the Google Tensor 2 chip.

The publication further mentioned that it found display details of another device that was tagged “G10” in AOSP. It appears that the G10 device is powered by the Tensor chip. However, it does not seem to be a part of the Pixel A-series, since it carries support for up to a 120Hz refresh rate.

The G10’s display is made by China-based BOE instead of Samsung. It measures 71 x 15mm in size and supports a Quad HD+ resolution of 1440 x 3120 pixels. The display size of the G10 indicates that it is not the Pixel tablet that is poised to launch in 2023. The preliminary details that have appeared so far suggest that the G10 could be similar to the Pixel 6 Pro / 7 Pro.
