Recently, there have been PlayStation 3 games that have surfaced on the PlayStation 5‘s store. This has raised rumors of Sony possibly planning on rolling out backwards compatibility for older games for the current gen consoles.

According to a VideoGamesChronicles report, certain PS3 games have been spotted on the PS5’s store. Usually, searching up PlayStation 3 games on the PlayStation’s 5 store would direct users to their listings towards the PlayStation Now. However, looking up Dead or Alive 5 brings users to a 7.99 Pound listing. Similarly, users have taken to social media after spotting other similar listings.

This includes the PS3’s Bejeweled and Prince of Persia series’ The Forgotten Sands and The Two Thrones. All of these games are listed with their respective price tag. However, users are not able to purchase these PS3 titles from the PS5 store at the moment. In other words, there is still a possibility that the listings might be an error. But, Dead or Alive 5 for PS3 isn’t available on PlayStation Now in Europe.

Notably, the listings also arrive after a Sony patent had recently surfaced which is titled “backward compatibility through the use of spoof clock and fine grain frequency control.” This means that the Japanese tech giant is basically working on a solution to allow users to play older games on the latest PS5 game console. Keep in mind that this is still just an unconfirmed report so take it with a pinch of salt for now.
