POCO has just revealed the Indian launch date for its upcoming C55 smartphone model. The company had recently confirmed that the handset will be arriving in the Indian market, and now, its official release date has also been revealed.

As per the latest official tweet, the Chinese smartphone maker is planning on launching the new POCO C55 in India on 21st February 2023. For those unaware, it is a budget grade handset and will be a part of the company’s C series of smartphones. Based on what we know so far about the upcoming phone, the C55 is expected to feature a dual camera setup on the rear. It will have a large camera island module that also houses a rear mounted fingerprint scanner as well for added security.

Furthermore, previous teasers has also hinted at a leather like back panel design as well. The company has yet to reveal any finer details regarding the C55, although, this model is believed to be a rebranded version of the Redmi 12C, but with a new rear design. Meaning, the internal specifications are likely similar if not identical. The Redmi 12C was launched in China back in January and sports a tall 6.71 inch HD+ display and a 5 megapixel selfie shooter on the front.

Under the hood, it is equipped with the MediaTek Helio G85 SoC that is paired with up to 6GB of RAM. The primary camera on the rear is a 50 megapixel lens, which is paired with a 2 megapixel depth sensor. A large 5,000mAh battery pack powers the device but supports the standard 10W charging. Poco recently finished launching the Poco X5 and Poco X5 Pro smartphones in India as well as several global markets. The company may add another member to the series, dubbed Poco X5 GT. But while we wait for that, Poco has confirmed that it will soon be launching an affordable C series smartphone in India. The handset in question is called Poco C55 and reports claim it will be a rebranded Redmi 12C. Let’s have a look at the details.

Poco took to Twitter to confirm the India launch of the new Poco C55. The brand didn’t specify the exact date but said the handset is coming soon. The tweet did not reveal the specifications or the design of the smartphone. However, previous reports have suggested that the C55 will be a rebranded Redmi 12C, which was launched in China on New Year’s Eve.

The Poco C55 is expected to be a follow-up to the recently launched Poco C50. It could arrive as a budget smartphone with decent specifications and design. The handset may be priced under Rs. 10,000 in India.

A leaked image shared by tipster Yogesh Brar shows the handset will have a leathery finish on the back with the brand’s signature camera bar. We can see the Poco C55 has a dual camera sensor and fingerprint sensor on the back. The smartphone is pictured in forest green and looks quite pleasing.

It could arrive with a 6.71-inch LCD display with an HD+ (1650 × 720 pixels) resolution. Under the hood, there may be a MediaTek Helio G85 processor with up to 6GB of RAM and 128GB onboard storage. Fueled by a 5,000mAh battery, the device is expected to support 10W charging. It could get a 50MP main cam on the rear and 5MP selfie shooter on the front.
