Last year, POCO India brought many budget devices to India, sold them well, and continued it with the POCO M3 recently. After sharing the device’s initial sales data, the company is back with more details.

In a tweet, POCO India has confirmed that the POCO M3 has sold over 500,000 units in India. The company also said that the device achieved this in just 45 days from the first sale. Earlier, the first sale had clocked around 150,000+ units which is a substantial number considering the device is limited exclusively to Flipkart.

POCO India became the third-largest online smartphone brand in the country towards the end of last year. Thanks to devices like the POCO C3, POCO M2, POCO X3, the company has managed to outsell the expectations every time.

Going forward, with the resurrection of the flagship killer in the form of POCO X3 Pro, it can very well break all the previous sale records in the near future. The company has a new ‘Made of Mad’ mascot to take on the rivals and is probably looking to expand its portfolio further.

POCO M3 is a budget smartphone retailing at a starting price of ₹10,999 in the country. Before launching in India, the device appeared first in global markets with a launch price of $129.

For the price, the device offers a refreshing design with a leather-like finish on the back, 6.53-inch FHD+ display, Snapdragon 662 chipset, 6,000mAh battery with 18W charging, triple-cameras with 48MP f/1.79 main lens, and more.

POCO India is a bit unique from the Global division. Recently, the company announced a new ‘Made Of Mad’ mascot. Also, it has not only brought more budget-smartphones to India but has managed to sell out more units in a short span of time. The latest to join the list is POCO M3 with its sale numbers on Flipkart.

POCO in a press note said that it has already sold over 250,000 units of POCO M3 in under two weeks(10 days to be precise) of online sales in India. If you recall, the company announced the budget smartphone in the country on Feb. 2. However, it went on sale for the first time only a week later.

This also comes after the company’s official announcement about selling 150,000+ units on the First sale that happened on Feb. 9. POCO also says that it has raked over 30 lakh POCO Fans and customer response on Flipkart.

In case you don’t know, POCO has been selling its devices(incl. POCO M3) online exclusively via the e-commerce platform Flipkart. Considering this a single channel, we can only imagine the numbers going up if it were more.

POCO M3 launched with specs like 6.53-inch FHD+ display, Snapdragon 662 chipset, 6,000mAh battery, and Leather-finish rear panel starts at ₹10,999($151.87). Although the price compared to the other regions is a bit steep, it’s definitely a good value compared to rivals in India.

That said, if you are someone who failed to grab yourself a POCO M3 fear not as the next sale is Tomorrow i.e., February 23 at 12 PM IST(UTC+ 05:30). It comes in Yellow, Cool Blue, and Power Black color variants and has 6GB RAM, 64/128GB storage options.

POCO M3 is a smartphone that is slowly crawling its way up to the other markets from Europe. Recently, the company launched it in Indonesia and Taiwan too. Finally, POCO has teased the arrival of the smartphone in India.

POCO India has posted a new YouTube video with the Title ” Watch at your own risk | #POCOM3″. The video begins with a guy dressed like a PUBG character asking opinions about the new device’s performance to a bunch of youngsters.

All of them are spotted playing a Battle Royale Game. In the video, the respondents quote words like “KILLER, OVER PERFORMER”, etc and we also get a glimpse of its gaming performance. Also, the presenter straight-up shows and confirms that all the color variants– Black, Blue, and Yellow will make it to India.

Although the video ends with a “COMING SOON” tag, rumors say that it could be very soon in February(maybe Feb. 2 or 4). If we recall, this Feb.4 is the same date when POCO India launched its first smartphone last year after becoming independent from Xiaomi. Anyway, this is just our guess and let’s wait for the final confirmation from the POCO team.

POCO M3 India- Specifications (Expected)

We can expect POCO M3 to be the same as Indonesian and European versions. Accordingly, it will feature the 6.53-inch FHD+ LCD display with Dot-drop notch, 2340x1080p resolution, 395 PPI, 19.5:9 aspect ratio with Gorilla Glass 3 protection.

Under the hood, Snapdragon 662 SoC will power the device paired with 4/6GB RAM, 64/128GB storage. You will also get a microSD card for storage expansion up to 512GB. For Cameras, the device will have the same 48MP f/1.79 main lens, two 2MP macro, and depth sensors.

Other features include an 8MP f/2.0 front camera, a 6,000mAh battery with 18W charging,  Type-C, 3.5mm audio jack, dual-Speakers, dual-SIM 4G, Wi-Fi 5GHz, Bluetooth 5.0, FM Radio, GPS, and MIUI 12 based on Android 10.

POCO Indonesia has finally launched the budget M3 smartphone in the country. This device has already debuted in Europe back in November. Starting at Rp.1,799,000 in Indonesia, it features Snapdragon 662 chipset, 48MP Triple-camera, and more.

POCO M3 Indonesia – Price, Availability

POCO M3 will be available in two storage variants in Indonesia- 4GB RAM, 64GB storage, and 6GB RAM and 128GB storage options. You can take a look at the official pricing below:

• POCO M3(4GB + 64GB)- Rp.1,899,000($136)
• POCO M3(6GB + 128GB)- Rp.2,299,000($164)

However, POCO has an introductory Online offer for both the variants. Accordingly, 4GB RAM will be available for Rp.1,799,000($129) and 6GB variant for Rp.2,199,000($157). The first sale of the POCO M3 will be on January 26 at 10:00 WIB(UTC+07:00).

As for availability, POCO says that users can purchase the device online via mi.com(Indonesia), LazadaLazadaLazada, Akulaku, and Mi Authorized stores across the country. The device will also be available on erafone and other Mi Authorized retail shops soon.

POCO M3 Specifications

POCO has retained the same build and color of the POCO M3. That is, it sports a faux leather finish on the back and comes in POCO Yellow, Cool Blue, and Power Black color options. The larger all-black housing that hosts the rectangular triple-camera layout has a POCO logo beside it.

It features the 6.53-inch FHD+ LCD display with Dot-drop notch, 2340x1080p resolution, 395 PPI, 19.5:9 aspect ratio. The display also covers 70% NTSC color gamut, has 1500:1 contrast ratio, TUV Rheinland certification for Low-Blue light emission, and is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3.

Under the hood, Snapdragon 662 SoC powers the device paired with LPDDR4x 4/6GB RAM, 64GB(UFS 2.1), and 128GB(UFS 2.2) storage. You also get a microSD card slot to expand the storage up to 512GB. For Cameras, we have the same 48MP f/1.79 main lens, two 2MP macro and depth sensors.

Other features include an 8MP f/2.0 front camera, a 6,000mAh battery with 18W charging(22.5W charger in-box), Type-C, 3.5mm audio jack, dual-Speakers, dual-SIM 4G, Wi-Fi 5GHz, Bluetooth 5.0, FM Radio, GPS, and MIUI 12 based on Android 10.

POCO’s super-cost-effective strategy has always been the reason for its immense popularity. Not long ago, the brand launched the POCO M2, and 130,000 units were sold in India in just a few minutes. And today the company is bringing its next generation model in the M series – the POCO M3. Will it continue to sell exceedingly well like the Poco M2? There’s still time to find that out but let’s see what the new model has to offer in this Poco M3 hands-on.

POCO M3 Box Contents

First let’s take a look at the box. The exterior of the box still comes with POCO’s iconic yellow design. Open the box and take out the accessory set. There is a SIM card pin, protective case and manual, so your usual stuff. Then you can see the Poco M3. The packaging film gives you a glimpse of its main selling points: a triple-camera setup led by a 48mp camera, an ultra-large 6000 mAh battery, a 6.53-inch teardrop screen and a Snapdragon 662 chipset. We’ll talk about them in detail, later. Underneath the phone there is an USB A to C charging cable and an 18w fast charger. And that sums up what’s inside the box.

POCO M3 Hands-on: A Youth-Centric Design

As a super affordable model, it’s not surprising that the phone features a 6.53-inch waterdrop screen, which is also the same size as what we usually have on a mainstream phone. It’s one of the few phones to come with a dot-drop display in 2020, especially after seeing a hoard of hole-punch display models this year.

Although it features the standard 60Hz refresh rate, we have to say that its color representation is still impressive at first glance. The fingerprint recognition is on the side. An IR transmitter, dual speakers and a 3.5mm headphone jack are also available.

Coming to the back, its design is much more recognizable, which should be one of the most unique designs for a phone in 2020. This design is indeed refreshing on such an inexpensive model.

The cover and the frame are made of one-piece plastic. We’ve seen a lot of phones in the same price range using the similar plastic cover. But unlike those phones, the plastic cover is textured to a fine leather finish. And the creative design does make the cover look more elegant than most smartphones. In addition, the leather-like plastic design should be more resistant to slip, fingerprint and scratches than glossy finish, while still keeping costs under control.

The camera module is also unique. A large piece of glossy plastic is used for aesthetics. The triple camera module is arranged on the upper left and the POCO logo is on the right, which is still recognizable even among most models in the market. Compared to the plain front, the rear design of the M3 is much more impressive.

POCO M3 Hands-on: Camera & Hardware

When compared to the Poco M2, the camera module has gone from a quad-cam setup to a triple camera combination. However, it doesn’t mean that the whole camera performance is downgraded.

Likely to keep the cost down, the ultra-wide-angle lens was sacrificed for a better-quality primary lens. Actually, from a practical perspective, we were impressed with the 48MP main lens and it did perform very well under most conditions. The lack of wide-angle camera could be a drawback in case of wide-open scenarios, such as landscape photography, but the fact is that most wide-angle lenses equipped on such inexpensive models are useless because of their poor quality.

The other two lenses are the macro lens and the portrait depth of field lens. It can help you shoot close objects and portraits better.

The POCO M3’s processor uses Snapdragon 662, which is about the same as the M2’s MTK Helio G80 in performance, but Qualcomm’s processor will be better optimized for camera performance. So that should be also the reason why the M3 uses the 662 chipset.

Meanwhile, the M3 comes with a super-large 6000mAh battery, which, when working with the low power consumption design of the Snapdragon 662, guarantees a really long battery life. No matter how you use it, the M3 would support sufficient power for at least a whole-day use. But you may need a little patience to get to full charge, as it only comes with 18W charger.

Like the M2, the POCO M3 is also worth its price, and there are some fine upgrades on the M3 that makes it an interesting option, such as its rear design and the large battery. Considering POCO’s previous track record we feel this one should sell well too as it ticks most of the features that you want in its price segment.
