<h3><strong>POCO M3 Review: Design &amp; Display</strong></h3>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">First, let’s look at its design. When compared to most budget phones, the M3’s design definitely deserves the word ‘VALUE FOR MONEY’ and features excellent build quality. We’ve seen a lot of budget models that share very similar designs. But the rear design of the M3 is much more unique and recognizable. Although the back cover isn’t glossy or made out of metal, it does not feel cheap at all. The textured leather cover finish is a nice touch, which at first glance makes the phone stand out from boring budget model designs.</span></p>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Poco-M3-review-01.jpg?x96852"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-355986" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Poco-M3-review-01.jpg?x96852" alt="Poco M3 review 01" width="2048" height="1152" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Poco-M3-review-01.jpg 2048w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Poco-M3-review-01-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Poco-M3-review-01-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Poco-M3-review-01-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Poco-M3-review-01-696x392.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Poco-M3-review-01-1068x601.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Poco-M3-review-01-747x420.jpg 747w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Poco-M3-review-01-1920x1080.jpg 1920w" sizes="(max-width: 2048px) 100vw, 2048px" /></a></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">And the camera module is arranged on the left side of the upper embedded glass. To achieve visual balance, Poco’s logo is shown on the opposite side. The model in our hand is the black edition. Thanks to the One-piece molding of the back cover and the frame, the elegant black appearance brings a sense of unity.</span></p>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Poco-M3-review-05.jpg?x96852"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-355990" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Poco-M3-review-05.jpg?x96852" alt="Poco M3 review 05" width="2048" height="1152" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Poco-M3-review-05.jpg 2048w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Poco-M3-review-05-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Poco-M3-review-05-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Poco-M3-review-05-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Poco-M3-review-05-696x392.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Poco-M3-review-05-1068x601.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Poco-M3-review-05-747x420.jpg 747w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Poco-M3-review-05-1920x1080.jpg 1920w" sizes="(max-width: 2048px) 100vw, 2048px" /></a></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">When you turn the phone around, the front face reminds us of its </span><span style="font-weight: 400;">budget placement &#8211; featuring a water-drop 1080P LCD display. Of course, the display isn’t really crisp but for an affordable phone, we are not complaining.</span></p>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Poco-M3-review-09.jpg?x96852"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-355994" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Poco-M3-review-09.jpg?x96852" alt="Poco M3 review 09" width="2048" height="1152" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Poco-M3-review-09.jpg 2048w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Poco-M3-review-09-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Poco-M3-review-09-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Poco-M3-review-09-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Poco-M3-review-09-696x392.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Poco-M3-review-09-1068x601.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Poco-M3-review-09-747x420.jpg 747w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Poco-M3-review-09-1920x1080.jpg 1920w" sizes="(max-width: 2048px) 100vw, 2048px" /></a></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The consolation is that the screen-to-body-ratio is well controlled without leaving an unpleasant chin. To be honest, we were a bit worried about the display quality at the beginning, but the moment that we turned on the phone, its good color representation restored our faith in the M3.</span></p>
<h3><strong>POCO M3 Review: Hardware &amp; Specs</strong></h3>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">In this price segment, hardware compromises are common due to cost reduction. Although the Snapdragon 662 SOC running inside the Poco M3 is not a power-packed performance choice, users still can have a complete and fluid experience using the global version of Xiaomi Mi UI 12 OS. Besides, the Snapdragon 662 is an upgraded chipset from <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/snapdragon">Snapdragon </a>660 and has been optimized for better camera performance.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">According to the benchmark results on Geekbench 5 and <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/antutu">Antutu</a>, the Poco M3’s CPU performance is almost equal to some models running the snapdragon 665. So we can at least say that the software optimization of this chipset is pretty good. Another detail that’s worth noting is the multi-core performance, which is relatively impressive when compared to its single-core performance.</span></p>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Poco-M3-review-12.jpg?x96852"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-355997" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Poco-M3-review-12.jpg?x96852" alt="Poco M3 review 12" width="2048" height="1152" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Poco-M3-review-12.jpg 2048w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Poco-M3-review-12-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Poco-M3-review-12-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Poco-M3-review-12-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Poco-M3-review-12-696x392.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Poco-M3-review-12-1068x601.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Poco-M3-review-12-747x420.jpg 747w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Poco-M3-review-12-1920x1080.jpg 1920w" sizes="(max-width: 2048px) 100vw, 2048px" /></a></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Given this chipset, we were curious whether the phone could fluently run popular games like PubG Mobile. When running PubG, the game doesn’t allow players to turn on HD or higher graphics on this phone &#8212; it only can run at a Medium-frame-rate option under balanced graphics. But the frame rate can go higher under smooth graphics settings. In order to access its highest performance, we broke through the frame limit in the PUBG China version to 60fps with a third-party tool. Under balanced graphics mode, although the running is not completely smooth, we still were able to get a good gaming experience with an average framerate at 50.22fps. When we shifted to smooth graphics, the M3 could smoothly run the game at above 50fps with less fluctuation. And surprisingly the average framerate of 58.19 is better than what we expected before.</span></p>

<h3><strong>POCO M3 Review: Camera </strong></h3>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">And now let’s look at its camera performance. Likely to keep the cost down, the ultra-wide-angle lens was sacrificed for a better-quality 48MP primary lens. Although somehow, it’s a kind of compromise, in light of past experience, we do prefer a more practical camera module led by a better main camera rather than a relatively useless wide-angle camera with poor quality.</span></p>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Poco-M3-review-18.jpg?x96852"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-356003" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Poco-M3-review-18.jpg?x96852" alt="Poco M3 review 18" width="2048" height="1152" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Poco-M3-review-18.jpg 2048w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Poco-M3-review-18-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Poco-M3-review-18-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Poco-M3-review-18-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Poco-M3-review-18-696x392.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Poco-M3-review-18-1068x601.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Poco-M3-review-18-747x420.jpg 747w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Poco-M3-review-18-1920x1080.jpg 1920w" sizes="(max-width: 2048px) 100vw, 2048px" /></a></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The other two cameras, the macro lens and the portrait depth of field lens complete the camera setup on the phone.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Among these three cameras, the main camera is the one that gave us the biggest surprise. From the samples shot from the main camera, we can see that under good lighting conditions, the images presented decent colors with good dynamic range. And thanks to the 48MP original resolution, the main camera could shoot high-resolution photos with rich details, and even for normal modes, most samples also had good clarity. </span></p>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Poco-M3-review-03.jpg?x96852"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-355988" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Poco-M3-review-03.jpg?x96852" alt="Poco M3 review 03" width="2048" height="1152" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Poco-M3-review-03.jpg 2048w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Poco-M3-review-03-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Poco-M3-review-03-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Poco-M3-review-03-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Poco-M3-review-03-696x392.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Poco-M3-review-03-1068x601.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Poco-M3-review-03-747x420.jpg 747w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Poco-M3-review-03-1920x1080.jpg 1920w" sizes="(max-width: 2048px) 100vw, 2048px" /></a></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">But due to the lack of <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/OIS">OIS</a> anti-shaking, users have to be careful to hold the phone firmly when shooting photos in low lighting conditions. </span><span style="font-weight: 400;">Another problem is that sometimes the exposure strategy is too aggressive in some complicated scenes, which could lead to detail loss of some extreme brightness in the corners.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Most of the time, the main camera has stable performance in capturing good night photos with its useful night mode. Most of the night shots showed good control with a balanced exposure.  </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">But when we moved to extreme dark scenes, the drawbacks of this sensor were exposed. For example, to offer more detail in extremely dark conditions, the exposure is so aggressive that the whole image turned out to be much noisier.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">But overall, we did admire Poco’s efforts in optimizing the camera software as it has already shown a lot more potential than what we expected from the hardware.  </span></p>
<div id="su_slider_6a9a4959edb49" class="su-slider su-slider-centered su-slider-pages-yes su-slider-responsive-yes su-lightbox-gallery" style="width:100%" data-autoplay="3000" data-speed="800" data-mousewheel="true"><div class="su-slider-slides"><div class="su-slider-slide"><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/POCO-M3-Macro-3.jpg?x96852" target="_blank" title="POCO M3 Macro (3)"><img src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/POCO-M3-Macro-3-640x640.jpg?x96852" alt="POCO M3 Macro (3)" /><span class="su-slider-slide-title">POCO M3 Macro (3)</span></a></div><div class="su-slider-slide"><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/POCO-M3-Macro-1.jpg?x96852" target="_blank" title="POCO M3 Macro (1)"><img src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/POCO-M3-Macro-1-640x640.jpg?x96852" alt="POCO M3 Macro (1)" /><span class="su-slider-slide-title">POCO M3 Macro (1)</span></a></div><div class="su-slider-slide"><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/POCO-M3-Macro-2.jpg?x96852" target="_blank" title="POCO M3 Macro (2)"><img src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/POCO-M3-Macro-2-640x640.jpg?x96852" alt="POCO M3 Macro (2)" /><span class="su-slider-slide-title">POCO M3 Macro (2)</span></a></div></div><div class="su-slider-nav"><div class="su-slider-direction"><span class="su-slider-prev"></span><span class="su-slider-next"></span></div><div class="su-slider-pagination"></div></div></div>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">As for the macro lens and the portrait one, their performance is not as impressive as the main camera, although they did make macro and portrait shooting much easier. The macro samples have close focus and good color presentation but didn’t present satisfactory clarity. In portrait mode, the phone allows users to edit the original photo with the reselected focus and aperture. But from the samples, we found that the edge detection was not accurate, especially when you look closely at the samples. </span></p>
<div id="su_slider_6a9a4959ee3cc" class="su-slider su-slider-centered su-slider-pages-yes su-slider-responsive-yes su-lightbox-gallery" style="width:100%" data-autoplay="3000" data-speed="800" data-mousewheel="true"><div class="su-slider-slides"><div class="su-slider-slide"><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/POCO-M3-Portrait-1.jpg?x96852" target="_blank" title="POCO M3 Portrait (1)"><img src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/POCO-M3-Portrait-1-640x640.jpg?x96852" alt="POCO M3 Portrait (1)" /><span class="su-slider-slide-title">POCO M3 Portrait (1)</span></a></div><div class="su-slider-slide"><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/POCO-M3-Portrait-2.jpg?x96852" target="_blank" title="POCO M3 Portrait (2)"><img src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/POCO-M3-Portrait-2-640x640.jpg?x96852" alt="POCO M3 Portrait (2)" /><span class="su-slider-slide-title">POCO M3 Portrait (2)</span></a></div></div><div class="su-slider-nav"><div class="su-slider-direction"><span class="su-slider-prev"></span><span class="su-slider-next"></span></div><div class="su-slider-pagination"></div></div></div>
<h3><strong>POCO M3 Review: Battery</strong></h3>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The 6000mAh battery of the M3 far exceeded our expectations for an affordable device. To check its battery life in daily use, we did a power-consumption test to simulate our daily use.</span></p>
<p><a style="text-decoration-line: underline;" href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Poco-M3-review-20.jpg?x96852"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-356005" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Poco-M3-review-20.jpg?x96852" alt="Poco M3 review 20" width="2048" height="1152" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Poco-M3-review-20.jpg 2048w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Poco-M3-review-20-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Poco-M3-review-20-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Poco-M3-review-20-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Poco-M3-review-20-696x392.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Poco-M3-review-20-1068x601.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Poco-M3-review-20-747x420.jpg 747w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Poco-M3-review-20-1920x1080.jpg 1920w" sizes="(max-width: 2048px) 100vw, 2048px" /></a></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">In one-hour of PUBG gaming, it consumed 14% of power. Another 12% power dropped after an hour of camera use; 6% after one hour of social media use and a further 6% drop in the battery after one-hour of video playback. After the test, there was 62% of power left.</span></p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-356004" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Poco-M3-review-19.jpg?x96852" alt="Poco M3 review 19" width="2048" height="1152" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Poco-M3-review-19.jpg 2048w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Poco-M3-review-19-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Poco-M3-review-19-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Poco-M3-review-19-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Poco-M3-review-19-696x392.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Poco-M3-review-19-1068x601.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Poco-M3-review-19-747x420.jpg 747w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Poco-M3-review-19-1920x1080.jpg 1920w" sizes="(max-width: 2048px) 100vw, 2048px" /></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The Poco M3 is equipped with 18W charging efficiency, which is not really a remarkable fast charging solution for an Android phone. It took us over 2 hours to fully charge the phone, which doesn’t really match its super large battery capacity. But considering the latest iPhone is also using an 18W fast charging solution, we are not gonna complain about this affordable model.</span></p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-356006" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Poco-M3-review-21.jpg?x96852" alt="Poco M3 review 21" width="2048" height="1152" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Poco-M3-review-21.jpg 2048w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Poco-M3-review-21-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Poco-M3-review-21-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Poco-M3-review-21-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Poco-M3-review-21-696x392.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Poco-M3-review-21-1068x601.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Poco-M3-review-21-747x420.jpg 747w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Poco-M3-review-21-1920x1080.jpg 1920w" sizes="(max-width: 2048px) 100vw, 2048px" /></p>
<h3></h3>
<h3><strong>POCO M3 Review: Verdict</strong></h3>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Overall, after all the tests we’ve done on the Poco M3, we can definitely recommend this phone in its price segment. Although the phone could not be praised for its performance and charging, some features like its excellent build quality, good camera performance, and long battery life, makes it stand out from the boring budget phones.</span></p>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Poco-M3-review-24.jpg?x96852"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-356009" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Poco-M3-review-24.jpg?x96852" alt="Poco M3 review 19" width="2048" height="1152" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Poco-M3-review-24.jpg 2048w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Poco-M3-review-24-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Poco-M3-review-24-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Poco-M3-review-24-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Poco-M3-review-24-696x392.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Poco-M3-review-24-1068x601.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Poco-M3-review-24-747x420.jpg 747w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Poco-M3-review-24-1920x1080.jpg 1920w" sizes="(max-width: 2048px) 100vw, 2048px" /></a></p>

Not long ago, the brand launched the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-poco-m2/">POCO M2</a>, and 130,000 units were sold in India in just a few minutes. And today the company is bringing its next generation model in the M series &#8211; the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/poco-m3">POCO M3</a>. Will it continue to sell exceedingly well like the Poco M2? There’s still time to find that out but let’s see what the new model has to offer in this Poco M3 hands-on.</p>
<p><iframe loading="lazy" title="POCO M3 Unboxing &amp; Hands on: This is what the M3 looks like" width="696" height="392" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/_iIJQhkQewY?feature=oembed" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe></p>
<p>By the way, our full review about the M3 is in progress and will be uploaded soon.</p>
<h4><strong>POCO M3 Box Contents</strong></h4>
<p>First let&#8217;s take a look at the box. The exterior of the box still comes with POCO&#8217;s iconic yellow design. Open the box and take out the accessory set. There is a SIM card pin, protective case and manual, so your usual stuff. Then you can see the Poco M3. The packaging film gives you a glimpse of its main selling points: a triple-camera setup led by a 48mp camera, an ultra-large 6000 mAh battery, a 6.53-inch teardrop screen and a Snapdragon 662 chipset. We&#8217;ll talk about them in detail, later. Underneath the phone there is an USB A to C charging cable and an 18w fast charger. And that sums up what’s inside the box.</p>
<h3><strong>POCO M3 Hands-on: A Youth-Centric Design</strong></h3>
<p>As a super affordable model, it’s not surprising that the phone features a 6.53-inch waterdrop screen, which is also the same size as what we usually have on a mainstream phone. It’s one of the few phones to come with a dot-drop display in 2020, especially after seeing a hoard of hole-punch display models this year.</p>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Poco-M3-review-04.jpg?x96852"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-355989" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Poco-M3-review-04.jpg?x96852" alt="Poco M3 review 04" width="2048" height="1152" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Poco-M3-review-04.jpg 2048w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Poco-M3-review-04-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Poco-M3-review-04-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Poco-M3-review-04-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Poco-M3-review-04-696x392.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Poco-M3-review-04-1068x601.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Poco-M3-review-04-747x420.jpg 747w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Poco-M3-review-04-1920x1080.jpg 1920w" sizes="(max-width: 2048px) 100vw, 2048px" /></a></p>
<p>Although it features the standard 60Hz refresh rate, we have to say that its color representation is still impressive at first glance. The fingerprint recognition is on the side. An IR transmitter, dual speakers and a 3.5mm headphone jack are also available.</p>
<p>Coming to the back, its design is much more recognizable, which should be one of the most unique designs for a phone in 2020. This design is indeed refreshing on such an inexpensive model.</p>

<p>The cover and the frame are made of one-piece plastic. We’ve seen a lot of phones in the same price range using the similar plastic cover. But unlike those phones, the plastic cover is textured to a fine leather finish. And the creative design does make the cover look more elegant than most smartphones. In addition, the leather-like plastic design should be more resistant to slip, fingerprint and scratches than glossy finish, while still keeping costs under control.</p>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Poco-M3-review-02.jpg?x96852"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-355987" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Poco-M3-review-02.jpg?x96852" alt="Poco M3 review 02" width="2048" height="1152" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Poco-M3-review-02.jpg 2048w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Poco-M3-review-02-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Poco-M3-review-02-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Poco-M3-review-02-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Poco-M3-review-02-696x392.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Poco-M3-review-02-1068x601.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Poco-M3-review-02-747x420.jpg 747w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Poco-M3-review-02-1920x1080.jpg 1920w" sizes="(max-width: 2048px) 100vw, 2048px" /></a></p>
<p>The camera module is also unique. A large piece of glossy plastic is used for aesthetics. The triple camera module is arranged on the upper left and the POCO logo is on the right, which is still recognizable even among most models in the market. Compared to the plain front, the rear design of the M3 is much more impressive.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<h3><strong>POCO M3 Hands-on: Camera &amp; Hardware</strong></h3>
<p>When compared to the Poco M2, the camera module has gone from a quad-cam setup to a triple camera combination. However, it doesn’t mean that the whole camera performance is downgraded.<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Poco-M3-review-05.jpg?x96852"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-355990" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Poco-M3-review-05.jpg?x96852" alt="Poco M3 review 05" width="2048" height="1152" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Poco-M3-review-05.jpg 2048w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Poco-M3-review-05-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Poco-M3-review-05-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Poco-M3-review-05-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Poco-M3-review-05-696x392.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Poco-M3-review-05-1068x601.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Poco-M3-review-05-747x420.jpg 747w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Poco-M3-review-05-1920x1080.jpg 1920w" sizes="(max-width: 2048px) 100vw, 2048px" /></a></p>
<p>Likely to keep the cost down, the ultra-wide-angle lens was sacrificed for a better-quality primary lens. Actually, from a practical perspective, we were impressed with the 48MP main lens and it did perform very well under most conditions. The lack of wide-angle camera could be a drawback in case of wide-open scenarios, such as landscape photography, but the fact is that most wide-angle lenses equipped on such inexpensive models are useless because of their poor quality.</p>
<p>The other two lenses are the macro lens and the portrait depth of field lens. It can help you shoot close objects and portraits better.</p>
<p>The POCO M3&#8217;s processor uses Snapdragon 662, which is about the same as the M2&#8217;s MTK Helio G80 in performance, but Qualcomm&#8217;s processor will be better optimized for camera performance. So that should be also the reason why the M3 uses the 662 chipset.</p>
<p>Meanwhile, the M3 comes with a super-large 6000mAh battery, which, when working with the low power consumption design of the Snapdragon 662, guarantees a really long battery life. No matter how you use it, the M3 would support sufficient power for at least a whole-day use. But you may need a little patience to get to full charge, as it only comes with 18W charger.</p>
<p>We&#8217;ll put detailed camera reviews and performance tests in our full-review video, which will be updated in a couple days. If you&#8217;re curious about its camera quality and gaming performance, keep an eye out for our follow-up review.</p>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Poco-M3-review-03.jpg?x96852"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-355988" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Poco-M3-review-03.jpg?x96852" alt="Poco M3 review 03" width="2048" height="1152" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Poco-M3-review-03.jpg 2048w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Poco-M3-review-03-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Poco-M3-review-03-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Poco-M3-review-03-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Poco-M3-review-03-696x392.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Poco-M3-review-03-1068x601.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Poco-M3-review-03-747x420.jpg 747w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Poco-M3-review-03-1920x1080.jpg 1920w" sizes="(max-width: 2048px) 100vw, 2048px" /></a></p>
<p>Like the M2, the POCO M3 is also worth its price, and there are some fine upgrades on the M3 that makes it an interesting option, such as its rear design and the large battery. Considering <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/poco">POCO</a>’s previous track record we feel this one should sell well too as it ticks most of the features that you want in its price segment.</p>
