The recent launch of the Redmi Note 9 series may end up being a blessing in disguise for the Poco X2, Poco’s latest smartphone. Recall that the Poco X2 was launched in India last month after a hiatus from the Xiaomi-nurtured OEM following the release of the Poco F1 in 2018. The Poco X2 has been well-received even with a design that is practically the same as the Redmi K30.

It has now emerged that Poco X2 has been crowned as the highest-rated smartphone on Flipkart. The device scored an average user rating of 4.6 out of 5 to outshine other rival brands that have more than 10,000 user ratings in just a month after it was released. The product page shows that the X2 has received rave reviews and top ratings from over 20,000 users as of March 13, 2020.

POCO announced its first phone since the brand went solo last week. The POCO X2 went on sale for the first time today and we expect the device to be a hot-selling one. For folks that are still not convinced about making the X2 their next smartphone, the camera samples that have been obtained from early reviews may just turn out to be the deal sealer.

The POCO X2 features a dual-LED flash assisted quad-camera system where the main camera is a Sony IMX686 64-megapixel main lens, teaming up with an 8-megapixel ultrawide lens with a field-of-view of 120 degrees, a 2-megapixel dedicated lens for macro shots and a 2-megapixel depth assist sensor. The POCO X2 offers plenty of camera features such as raw camera capture, bokeh, 4K video shooting at 30fps, HD video shooting at 960fps, video blogging mode, ultrawide video recording.  The camera performs impressively both under low light and bright lighting conditions.

The selfie camera also performs well in capturing beautiful shots. As a reminder, the X2 is equipped with a 20MP+2MP dual camera setup at the front. The front cameras support AI portrait mode, screen flash and full HD video recording at 30fps.

We’ll still wait for more reviews, especially DXOMark’s to know where the POCO X2 stands in the ranking of premium midrange phone cameras. Find more camera samples shot by the POCO X2 from below.

The countdown to the POCO X2 launch is left with just hours as the device is billed to be officially unveiled in India on February 4. The event is highly anticipated by fans, mostly because the X2 will be the first phone the brand will be releasing after it split from Xiaomi. The device is equally the first model after the record-breaking POCO F1.

The discovery that the POCO X2 is practically a rebranded Redmi K30 has done little to change the level of interest fans still show the upcoming event. The launch event will kick off at 12 pm local time (6.30 AM GMT) and is expected to be streamed live on POCO’s official social media channels.  The official social media channels of Poco are expected to host the live stream of the launch. Users can follow the launch event on POCO India’s account on YouTube, Twitter, or Facebook to see the live stream of the Poco X2 launch. Also, find the YouTube channel embedded in this post so you won’t have to search for it.

If Poco X2 turns out to be a rebranded version of the Redmi K30 4G, the phone will have the same specifications as the latter. The Poco X2 could run MIUI 11 based on Android 10 out of the box and since it is a Poco phone, we can expect the Poco launcher to power the user interface. The Poco X2 could also sport a side-mounted fingerprint sensor and backed by a 4,500mAh battery with support for 27W fast charging. The phone could also sport a 64MP+8MP+2MP+2MP quad-rear camera setup and a 20MP+2MP dual front-facing cameras placed in a punch-hole display.

The teaser basically erases any doubt that the upcoming model is a rebadged Redmi K30. The video shows what looks very much like the Redmi K30 purple variant. The video lived up to its billing as a teaser since it didn’t allow us to have a focused look at the design., However, the side-mounted fingerprint sensor which doubles as the power button. The rear camera arrangement is also similar to what the K30 utilised.

This discovery really shouldn’t hit anyone as a surprise. The cues have been everywhere this past few days. Even though we have seen the signs, some still wish they were untrue. The Poco X2 is coming two years after the company first launched the Poco F1. So, we had expected an upgrade. That befitting upgraded model may still be in the works.

The Poco X2 has already been revealed to come with a 27W charging support. The display will also have up to 120Hz refresh rate. It is expected to be sold exclusively on Flipkart.

The Poco X2 is almost confirmed to be a rebranded Redmi K30 4G. That will be a disappointing first outing for the Poco brand which announced its independence from Xiaomi recently. Fans have been waiting for a new model from the brand since the Poco F1 was launched in 2018. The company have got the Poco F2 in the works with a flagship lineup. Who knows how long we’ll have to wait for that one?
