The brand is all set to release its first phone in over 1.5 years tomorrow, called the Poco X2. The X2 isn’t exactly the successor to the incredibly popular Poco F1 flagship that was announced in 2018. The Poco ‘X’ series will be placed below the ‘F’ series in India, aimed at the mid-range segment. Since we are all excited for the device launching tomorrow, let’s take a quick look at what we know about the Poco X2.

Poco X2 is going to be a rebranded Redmi K30 4G

If you think the Poco X2 is going to be anything more than a rebadged Redmi K30 4G, then you are in for disappointment. From all the teasers and the rumors we’ve heard so far, the X2 is basically a rebranded Redmi K30 4G model. If you are still not convinced after seeing the teasers, know that the Redmi K30 was certified on India’s BIS under the Poco branding.

The K30 was first announced in December 2019 in China. While the K30 is no flagship, it’s still an impressive smartphone. So even if Poco’s first smartphone doesn’t directly succeed the flagship Poco F1, it will still be an incredibly value for money device.

And since the Poco X2 will be a rebadged Redmi K30 4G, we know almost everything about the device.

Poco X2 Design & Specification

Poco has confirmed a couple of features on the X2. First, the phone will feature a 120Hz high refresh rate. Traditionally, high refresh rates are reserved for smartphones that are placed in the upper mid-range segment, so it’s a pleasant surprise to see a mid-ranger get this particular feature.

Opinion: If Poco X2 turns out to be a rebranded Redmi K30, I’ll be disappointed

Another feature confirmed by the teaser is the Sony IMX 686 sensor. This new 64MP sensor from Sony is expected to provide slightly higher resolution photos than the 48MP IMX 586 sensor found on a number of mid-rangers last year. In fact, the IMX686 could potentially be used in the upcoming Huawei P40 Pro camera flagship too!

The side fingerprint sensor was also confirmed by a recent teaser video. The image showed off the sides of the violet / purple colored Poco X2. If you recall, the Redmi K30 4G also had a violet colored variant. And the fingerprint sensor on the device is also placed on the side.

Poco X2’s fast charging speed was also confirmed in one of the teaser. The brand revealed that the phone can charge quickly from 0% to 40% in just 25 minutes. We can expect a large 4500mAh battery on board, the same capacity battery found on the Redmi K30. And in case you are wondering, yes, the K30 supported 27W fast charging too. Which means the Poco X2 should charge to 100% in just around 68 minutes.

The company has also confirmed liquid cooling on the X2, for extended gaming sessions. This shouldn’t come as a surprise as the K30 features a 5mm copper tube liquid cooling that can bring the the temperature of the phone down by up to 7 degrees. The headphone jack is also confirmed at the bottom of the device.

Here are the expected Poco X2 Specs (based on Redmi K30 4G)

208 grams weight and 165.3 x 76.6 x 8.8mm dimensions

6.67-inch IPS LCD 2400 x 1080p display with Corning Gorilla Glass 5

120Hz screen refresh rate

Qualcomm Snapdragon 730G with Adreno 618

6GB/ 8GB RAM with 64GB /128GB ROM UFS 2.1

Quad cameras: 64MP f/1.9 primary camera with 8MP f/2.2 ultrawide sensor, 2MP f/2.4 dedicated macro lens, and a 2MP f/2.4 dedicated depth sensor

Dual Selfie cameras: 20MP wide-angle shooter with a 2MP depth sensor

4500mAh battery with 27W fast charging

3.5mm headphone jack

Android 10 based MIUI 11

Side-mounted fingerprint sensor

NFC, BL 5.0, Wi-Fi ac

Will there be any difference between the Poco X2 and the Chinese Redmi K30 4G?

This is the real question that’ll be answered tomorrow. As of now, all teasers show that the Poco X2 is identical to the Redmi K30 4G model.

Poco X2 Pricing & Availability (Expected)

We have no official word on pricing or availability of the Poco X2. Rumors are putting the starting price somewhere between Rs. 14,999 and Rs. 18,999. The Chinese Redmi K30 4G variant starts at 1599 yuan for its 6GB + 64GB model. This comes to around Rs. 16,000 in India. So, it’s possible that the Poco X2 launches around this price tag in India.

Honestly, I think the Poco X2 could launch at Rs. 16,999 to directly take on the Realme X2 that features similar specs including the exact same Snapdragon 730G chipset. The Realme X2 starts at Rs. 16999 for its 4GB RAM model. So, Poco’s X2 could undercut the Realme mid-ranger if it offers its 6GB RAM variant at this price.

As for availability, we can expect the phone to go on sale a week or two after the launch event tomorrow. However, we’ll have to see if the recent coronavirus outbreak has any effect on its supply.

Screenshots showing a trademark application for “POCO F2” were shared on twitter by @_the_tech_guy. The images show the application was filed on the 4th of December, 2019 at the China Trademark Office and has application number 4280005.

[envira-gallery id=”300285″]

For those wondering why the trademark was filed in China seeing as the POCO brand isn’t available there, it will interest you to know that Xiaomi filed a trademark application for the POCO F1 in its home country too in June 2018 before it launched in August 2018.

The trademark application is proof that there is a successor to the POCO F1 (POCOPHONE F1) in the works. However, there is still no info on when the POCO F2 will launch, though we presume it may arrive in February or March seeing as the POCO F1 arrived two months after its trademark application.

That date also makes sense, especially for India. There are reports the Mi 10 series will launch next month but unfortunately, Xiaomi will not launch the Mi 10 and Mi 10 Pro in India. So, announcing the POCO F2 flagship killer in India between February and March is plausible.

The POCO F1 was a huge success as it offered flagship specs at an affordable price. It launched with the same processor as other flagships such as the Samsung Galaxy S9 and the OnePlus 6T but sold for significantly less.

Xiaomi is finally rolling out MIUI 11 Stable release for POCO F1 users across the world. Users on Reddit have reported that their smartphones are being updated to the new MIUI version via OTA. Notably, this new MIUI 11 stable build is still based on the Android 9 Pie version.

Apart from the new MIUI 11 features (complete list here), the update also brings the latest October 2019 security patch to the POCO F1. We have reports of at least one user in Italy getting this stable build but users across the globe should eventually get this update in the next few days.

Source: TheMariacho (Reddit)

The update is likely going to be rolled out in stages. So you might have to wait a while before you receive the OTA update notification. And if you don’t want to wait around, download and flash the stable ROM from here. Note that it is a large file (over 1.8GB in size), so it is recommended that you download and install it over a Wi-Fi connection.

While this is based on Android 9 Pie, POCO F1 is confirmed to receive an Android 10 update, eventually. There’s no word on an exact schedule for its release, but users could probably get it by the end of this year. Note that Redmi Note 7 Pro and Redmi 7 users have already received the stable MIUI 11 update a few days ago.

However, we haven’t really heard much about POCO in the past few months and there have been rumors floating around that Xiaomi could kill off this brand. Now, an IDC analyst reveals that scrapping the POCO lineup could be in the cards after the release of the affordable Redmi K series in India.

POCO’s first model F1 was a hit in India

POCO had established a very unique segment in the smartphone industry. The POCO F1 featured the flagship Snapdragon 845 processor at a never before seen sub-$300 segment. However, this year, Redmi seems to be keen to take over this market segment with the launch of the new Redmi K20 series. Given that the K series also focuses on bringing the latest Snapdragon flagship processor to the affordable market, it could be said that the new lineup replaces POCO in its market segment.

“Poco was launched to give high-end chosen few specs at mid-range prices, with clear compromises on design language. It was launched as an upgrade option for large Xiaomi base without breaking bank required to buy a flagship phone. It saw a mixed response really,” said Navkendar Singh, research director at IDC India to The Economic Times.

“But now, with this aggressive pricing of K series by Xiaomi with its absolute flagship specs, hardware, and design, the reason for the existence of Poco as a brand is in doubt,” he added.

Jai Mani, head of POCO, recently quit the company. This further adds fuel to this speculation. However, Xiaomi continues to deny this and a recent reply from the Xiaomi spokesperson said: “nothing changes because of an executive leaving and work will go on as planned”.

First is Donovan Sung who is the company’s Global Spokesman and Director of Product Management and the second is Jai Mani, head of product of the POCO division.

Donovan Sung took to Twitter early today to reveal that this will be his last month at Xiaomi. The Chinese American joined Xiaomi five years ago and has been a part of the team that helped with its expansion into new countries.

In the stream of tweets announcing his exit from the company, he revealed he will be joining Google in Singapore to help with the advancement of their payment system (Google Pay) in emerging markets.

On the other hand, Jai Mani who used to be the product manager of the POCOPHONE brand didn’t make any announcement but his Twitter bio now says ex-Product Manager of POCOCPHONE and Xiaomi India.

According to Android Central, Jai Mani has also been with Xiaomi for five years. He was hired by Hugo Barra who was once the global VP of Xiaomi. He played a key role in the development of the phone that took 2018 by surprise. There is still no news of a successor and with the product manager gone now, things look bleak.

His Twitter bio reads that he is interested in healthcare + technology with a focus on mental health. He also stated that his DM is open which means he is yet to have a new role somewhere else.

We wish both of them the best in their future endeavors.

Soon after the launch, users started complaining about several issues related to the phone, but most of them have been addressed by the company.

Now the company is addressing questions related to future Android updates. The phone runs Android Oreo out of the box and is all set to receive the Android Pie update soon. Ahead of the Android Pie rollout, Jay Mani, Head of Product for Pocophone (POCO), has confirmed that the phone will also receive the next major Android update — Android Q.

It’s good that Xiaomi has now promised Android Q update for the POCO F1 but it’s not surprising given that most phone manufacturer provide atleast two major Android releases. While the Android Q for POCO F1 is confirmed, it will be a very long wait to receive this update.

The Android Q is likely to be available as a developer preview next year and given that Xiaomi is extremely slow is releasing major Android versions to its device, we are likely to get the Android Q much later after Google officially releases it.

Recently, Xiaomi revealed that it is working with Google and Qualcomm to soon release an update which will bring the widevine L1 support to POCO F1. The update is expected to be rolled out to MIUI Beta ROM users first by Q4, 2018, i.e. by the end of this year.

The company had recently released an update to fix the notification icon issue on the status bar. Xiaomi is also developing 4K 60fps support for the rear camera. Additionally, users of POCO launcher will also have an option to customise desktop grid size and icon size in the future.

The Poco F1 features a 6.18-inch Full HD+ IPS LCD display which is protected by a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass. The phone is powered by Qualcomm‘s Snapdragon 845 processor and comes with LiquidCool technology.

It has a 12-megapixel Sony IMX363 primary sensor, coupled with a 5-megapixel secondary sensor on the back panel. On the front side, there’s a 20-megapixel selfie camera powered with AI for capturing enhanced selfie shots.

The phone’s listing appeared on B&H Photo Video’s website, with a price tag of $370 for the 6GB RAM model carrying 64GB of internal storage while the 128GB storage model is priced at $399.99. Unfortunately, the global version of the Pocophone F1 is incompatible with the CDMA networks of Verizon and Sprint and also lacks the LTE bands to operate on AT&T and T-Mobile’s 4G networks.

The Pocophone F1 flaunts a 6.18-inch Full HD+ IPS LCD display which offers 2246 x 1080 pixels screen resolution and 18.7:9 aspect ratio. The display supports up to 500-nits brightness and a high contrast ratio of 1500:1. For protection from minor scratches, there’s a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass on top.

Under the hood, the handset is powered by Qualcomm‘s flagship Snapdragon 845 processor and comes with LiquidCool technology. The company says that it decided to place a copper heat sink above the chipset which helps in dissipating the heat generated by it, allowing the phone to transfer heat at a faster rate of 300 percent.

Coming to the camera department, the phone comes with a 12-megapixel Sony IMX363 sensor with a massive pixel size of 1.4micron coupled with a 5-megapixel secondary sensor on the back panel. The device comes with a well-studded specs lineup which includes a Snapdragon 845 chipset. Not all features of the Poco F1 has been revealed by Xiaomi after all. Poco India has revealed a couple of details we did not know about the model. A couple of tweets by the new brand showed that the Pocophone F1 comes with splash resistance and supports Quick Charge 4.0.

https://twitter.com/IndiaPOCO/status/1039491890029256706

This is the first time since the launch of the Poco F1 over three weeks now that Xiaomi is revealing these details. In the wake of monsoon, the F1 is a perfect smartphone to take with you while on the go without fear of damage by water. The phone should be able to handle water spills but won’t likely be able to survive a long drop in water. We should note, though, that the device doesn’t have an IP certification. Instead, it is certified splash resistant by P2i (<s>@</s>P2iLabs) which Xiaomi says is a global leader in liquid repellant nanotechnology.

Perhaps, more surprising is the disclosure that the Poco F1 features support for Quick Charge 4.0. This is because the phone’s listing on Xiaomi website only indicated the presence of QC 3.0 support. The charger which ships with the device only support QC 3.0. However, F1 owners who can find a QC 4.0 charger will get the opportunity of charging their phones even faster. Qualcomm had hinted that the Quick Charge 4.0 is up to 15% faster than previous versions.

The Poco F1 was spotted on GeekBench with a large 8GB RAM. This isn’t the first time the Pocophone F1 is appearing on Geekbench database but the previous model only appeared with 6GB of RAM as against 8GB RAM on this new device.

That clearly is an indication that the device will have a 6GB RAM and 8GB RAM version. Surprisingly, the CPU performance of this 8GB RAM version on the single core and multi-core tests are slightly different. The 8GB RAM version scored 2451 points on the single-threaded test while it manages a multi-core test score of 8998 points. The single and multi-core scores of the 8GB RAM model are on similar levels with other Snapdragon 845-powered phones like the OnePlus 6, Xiaomi Mi 8, HTC U12+ etc. On the other hand, the Poco F1 with 6GB RAM had scored 9081 points in multi-core performance, over classing flagships such as OnePlus 6, Xiaomi Mi 8 and Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus, while it scored 2467 points in single-core performance in which the only better device is the Samsung Galaxy S9+.

On the specs angle, the Poco F1 is expected to pack a 5.99-inch IPS LCD display with Xiaomi’s Face scanning tech inside the notch on the front. The device packs a vertically aligned, dual rear camera setup placed in the middle. The rear camera is a 12MP + 5MP combo while the selfie shooter is a 20MP sensor. The body is said to be made of plastic despite packing an SD 845 chipset and 6GB / 8GB of RAM. The F1 will also have a 4,000mAh battery.

A reliable leakster has recently leaked the different storage and color variants of the Poco F1.

The new leak reveals that the base model of the Poco F1 will be equipped with an internal storage of 64 GB and 6 GB of RAM. It is expected to arrive in colors like Red, Grey, Blue and Gradient.

There could be another 6 GB RAM variant of the Poco F1 that may feature an inbuilt storage of 128 GB. It is also rumored to arrive in colors like Red, Grey, Blue and Gradient. It is speculated that the 128 GB Poco F1 will be carrying a price tag of around ~Rs. 25,000.

The highest configuration variant of the Poco F1 is expected to feature an internal storage of 256 GB and 8 GB of RAM. It could be available in colors like Grey, Blue, Gradient and Kevlar. There is no information available on the pricing of this model. However, it can be used that it could be priced around ~Rs. 29,000.

Xiaomi’s Mi MIX 2 and Mi series flagship phones haven’t received good reception in India. Hence, it seems that the company has decided to launch affordably priced flagship phones under the Poco brand name. The specifications of the Poco F1 suggests that it is a cheaper version of the Xiaomi Mi 8 that was announced in China in May.

Read More: Xiaomi Mi 8 Indian launch could be nearing

Rumors have it that the instead of AMOLED notched screen available on the Mi 8, the Poco F1 will be equipped with a notched LCD panel. Also, instead of the glass rear on Mi 8, the Poco F1 will be arriving with a polycarbonate back panel. The F1 is expected to support Full HD+ resolution of 2246 x 1080 pixels. The Snapdragon 845 SoC will be powering the phone. Xiaomi has reportedly added liquid cooling feature on the Poco F1 to regulate its internal temperature.

For photography, it will be arriving with 12-megapixel + 5-megapixel dual camera setup and a front-facing selfie camera of 20-megapixel. The handset will include 4,000mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0. The handset is expected to be exclusively through Flipkart.

Unlike its other phones which launch under the Redmi or Mi brand, this upcoming device will launch under a new brand called POCOPHONE. The device is called the POCOPHONE F1 and it has gotten its Bluetooth certification.

The Bluetooth certification page which confirms the phone’s model number as M1805E10A and its processor as the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor with a liquid cooling system also reveals some important details about its cameras.

According to the description, the POCOPHONE F1 has a 12MP + 5MP dual camera setup on its rear. The primary sensor has a 1.4µm large pixel size and dual pixel autofocus. This camera configuration is lower than that of the Mi 8 which has 12MP + 12MP dual cameras.

For the front camera, the POCOPHONE F1 will have a 20MP sensor along with a technology called SuperPixel. SuperPixel combines details from four different pixels into a single large one. The result is supposed to be a picture with less noise, more light, and an overall better quality. It also mentions being great in low-light conditions.

Another info mentioned in the description is that the phone has an infrared illuminator and an infrared camera for face unlock. This is the same unlock mechanism on the Mi 8, so it will work the same way. With the infrared illuminator and infrared scanner, you will be able to unlock your phone in the dark just as you do in broad daylight.

A leaked hands-on video already confirmed the phone will have a notch. The notch will house the camera and the IR setup for face unlock as well as other sensors and most probably a notification LED. The certification page also confirms the POCOPHONE is running MIUI 10 and not MIUI 9 like the version that was submitted at the FCC.

FCC documents have revealed the POCOPOPHONE will come with 6GB of RAM and 64GB/128GB of storage. It is also expected to be one of the cheapest Snapdragon 845 phones in the market according to leaker Roland Quandt.

Earlier this week, he revealed the pricing in Eastern Europe is put at €420 (~$490) for the 64GB model and €460 (~$537) for the 128GB version. Compare that to the OnePlus 6 (6GB + 64GB) that sells for €519 (~$605). However, that isn’t the cheapest price for the POCOPHONE F1.

So. Pocophone F1 might be even cheaper than I said before. Eastern EU dealer has it for less than 390 Euro – which sounds insane, if it really is using an SDM845.

The first phone under the brand has been certified at Taiwan’s NCC and has also been seen at the FCC. It is also among the five Xiaomi phones that got certified at the ECC last week. Now the selling price of the phone in Europe has been revealed.

The info comes from popular leaker Roland Quandt (@rquandt) who posted a tweet revealing the details. In the tweet, he said the POCOPHONE F1 is actually pretty cheap based on its price tag. In Eastern Europe, the 6GB RAM + 64GB ROM model is priced at about ~€420 while the 6GB RAM + 128GB model is priced at ~€460.

Xiaomi Pocophone F1 will seemingly be cheap as chips… listing in eastern Euroland for ~420 Euro (6/64GB) and ~460 Euro (6/128GB) (prices converted). If it really has an SDM845 that pricing would be really impressive for a device with a 5,99in 2160x1080px screen.

— Roland Quandt (@rquandt) July 23, 2018

The base model is significantly cheaper than the OnePlus 6 which sells for €519 for the 6GB RAM + 64GB model. Even though the POCOPHONE F1 doesn’t have 8GB of RAM, the €460 price of the 128GB version is still a very good offer as against the 8GB RAM OnePlus 6 that sells for €569.

The POCOPHONE F1 surfaced in a hands-on video last week and the video showed revealed a few details. First, the codename of the device is “Beryllium” which is the fourth SD845-powered Xiaomi phone expected to launch this year and also be sold in India.

[embedyt] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WqtJ6T-27q4[/embedyt]

It also revealed the phone has a 2.8GHz processor, runs MIUI 9 based on Android 8.1 Oreo, and has 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. With respect to design, the phone has a notch similar to that of the Xiaomi Mi 8 but a different rear camera design.

The dual rear cameras sit in the middle and not on the left like Xiaomi’s recent releases. The design is also the same as that of the sketch at the FCC.

With all the new info popping up in such a short time, there is a possibility that the phone may be announced soon. Notwithstanding, Xiaomi has an event tomorrow in Spain and it has confirmed it will announce the Mi A2 and Mi A2 Lite.

Then, it started expanding in other continents and now it has a consistent presence even in Europe. But only a few of its products have been launched in the Old Continent if we consider its whole portfolio. Recently, the EEC (Eurasian Economic Commission) has certified five upcoming devices from the Chinese giant. The fact that they have been certified by the Eurasian Economic Commission means that all of these five handsets will land in Europe.

The devices certified by the EEC are Xiaomi Mi A2, Mi A2 Lite, Mi Max 3, Mi 8 and POCOPHONE. We already reported the certification of Mi A2, Mi A2 Lite and Mi 8, while Mi Max 3 and POCOPHONE are new on the list. The first will officially debut on July 24 and probably its Lite variant will join it in the same presentation event. It will be the successor of the first device by the company with Android One installed. It will have the same specifications as the Mi 6X (recently launched in China with prices going from $253 to $316) with Android One instead of the MIUI as the main difference. So we should get a notchless display with a 5.99-inch size and a Full HD+ resolution, as well as a Snapdragon 660 SoC by Qualcomm paired with 4 or 6 GB of RAM and 32, 64 or 128 GB of internal storage without an expansion slot.

The Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite will be a lower-end model which should offer the same specs as the Redmi 6 Pro, with a notched display and a Snapdragon 625 SoC paired with 4 GB of RAM. The Mi Max 3 will be the biggest Mi phablet and it will be official on July 18. It will be released with a 6.99-inch Full HD+ display and probably an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 chipset, as well as a very big 5000+ mAh battery. POCOPHONE is expected to come as the first smartphone from Xiaomi’s sub-brand and it is still shrouded in the mystery.

However, most of its smartphone released in the country are under the Redmi line. When it comes to flagships, the 2017 Mi MIX 2 is the only one available for purchase on its official website. That may be changing soon as firmware files have revealed a Snapdragon 845-powered phone is heading to India.

The discovery was made by @FunkyHuawei who got his hands on firmware files containing the details. According to XDA Developers who first reported the news, they were already aware of the device’ existence a few months ago.

Their findings revealed then that Xiaomi was working on a number of Snapdragon 845 mobile phones for release this year. The codenames for the devices are “Polaris” which launched as the Mi MIX 2s, “Dipper” which launched as the Mi 8, and “Ursa” which launched as the Mi 8 Explorer Edition. The fourth device is codenamed “Berrylium” and is the one that may be heading to India. A fifth device codenamed “Shark” was also seen and that launched as the Black Shark gaming phone.

“Beryllium” Specs

The firmware files reveal the device known as “Beryllium” will have a Snapdragon 845 chipset, an Adreno 630 GPU, and have an LCD display with a notch. It will come with dual rear cameras with optical zoom, run Android 8.1 Oreo, and pack a 4000mAh battery.

Although details about the RAM and storage were not made available, the phone will not have a microSD card slot. It will have a fingerprint scanner but not an in-display type.

XDA adds that the firmware files which revealed the above specs were built back in March, so there is a possibility they might have changed. However, the device is still in development seeing as it has a global beta version of MIUI 10 available.

Proof “Beryllium” will launch in India (and globally)

So what’s the proof that this device is heading to India? As you can see above, there is a global beta MIUI 10 ROM for the device which points to an international availability of the device and the firmware files are said to have two branches – “Beryllium” and “Beryllium Global”. Proof of it heading to India is found in the latest MIUI camera app. The explanation is a bit technical.

There are two proofs or method as XDA puts it. They are called “isIndiabeautyFlter” and “getDualCameraWaterMarkFilePathVendor”. Both are said to check a build property called “ro.boot.hwc” that only returns as true if it is “India”.

For the first method, it checks the build property if IS_E7S or IS_E10 are true. When IS_E7S is true when the device is “whyred” (Redmi Note 5 Pro) and IS_E10 when the device is “beryllium”.

For the second method, it checks the build prop if “ro.boot.hwc” is set to “India” and IS_E10 is true.

What device will “Beryllium” launch as?

If we are to go by the specs of the device and also recent leaks, Beryllium won’t launch as the Mi MIX 3. The Mi MIX 3 according to leaked photos doesn’t have a notch.

However, there is a possibility that it may launch under the new “POCOPHONE” brand. FCC documents from a few days ago have shown that the model number of the first smartphone under the POCOPHONE brand is M1805E10A. E10 in the model number corresponds to the values in the proofs mentioned above.

Xiaomi Beryllium may launch as the first phone under the POCOPHONE brand

We presumed the first phone under the POCOPHONE brand will be a mid-range phone but recent FCC documents spotted by Android Authority reveals the phone will come in 6GB RAM + 64GB and 6GB RAM + 128GB models. This configuration may point at a flagship device, so its possible it is Beryllium.

Nevertheless, this isn’t conclusive yet. The specs above may change and the device may launch under Xiaomi’s already existing brands. Other than this phone, Xiaomi is also expected to launch the Mi 8 SE in India later this month, though it has been tipped to arrive as the Mi 8i.

When we first covered it, we mentioned the first phone under the brand already got certified at Taiwan’s NCC. The phone has now been spotted at the FCC.

The POCOPHONE phone has the model number M1805E10A but the model name in the cover letter provided by Xiaomi says the model number is M1805D1SG. However, the FCC-ID (2AFZZ-XMSE10A) for both devices are the same.

[envira-gallery id=”200100″]

The cover letter also mentions a few specifications. The phone will support both 2.4GHz and 5GHz Wi-Fi bands and Bluetooth. It will also support LTE Band 40 but will be disabled by software, since it isn’t used in the US.

The FCC documents also include dimensions and a sketch of the device. The POCOPHONE will be 151mm long, 76mm wide, and measure 163mm diagonally. The sketch also shows it will have dual rear cameras.

With the phone getting certified left and right, we may soon see it appear on a benchmark site or even China’s TENAA database.

A new report says it has applied for a trademark for a third brand. The new brand is called “POCOPHONE” and its first phone is on the way.

According to the source, Xiaomi applied for an EU trademark for the name POCOPHONE at the end of May. So there is a high chance phones released under this new brand will make it to Europe.

Other than the trademark filing, Xiaomi is already working on the first device to launch under the new brand. A certain phone with model number M1805E10A is reported to have been certified by Taiwan’s NCC last week.

According to the NCC listing, the device is manufactured by Xiaomi Communications Technology Co., Ltd but instead of Redmi or Mi as the brand name, POCOPHONE is what was filed in the document.

Xiao

The specs for the device are unknown but the NCC document reveals it supports FDD-LTE bands 3, 7, and 8. It also has support for GPS, GLONASS, and BeiDou.

There is no report of the name being used for devices other than phones, so we don’t expect to see it on mobile accessories.
