<p>A new interesting detail has now emerged about the photographic prowess of the iQOO 8 Pro. Vivo shared a fresh teaser revealing some features of the camera setup. The poster shows the iQOO 8 Pro will pack a 50-megapixel main shooter paired with a 48-megapixel ultrawide camera sensor which happened to be the main sensor on the iQOO Pro launched in 2019. The main camera is expected to have Vivo&#8217;s VIS five-axis stabilization, covering all the possible movements<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/iqoo-8-camera.jpg?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-405109" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/iqoo-8-camera.jpg?x44794" alt="iQOO 8 Pro camera" width="450" height="810" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/iqoo-8-camera.jpg 450w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/iqoo-8-camera-167x300.jpg 167w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/iqoo-8-camera-233x420.jpg 233w" sizes="(max-width: 450px) 100vw, 450px" /></a></p>
<p>The iQOO 8 will come with a triple camera setup but details of the third camera weren&#8217;t teased. However, it could possibly be a mid-zoom option that can go up to 60mm or about 2.5x.</p>

<p>Apart from the poster, Vivo also shared a couple of samples shot using the iQOO 8 Pro. The pictures are not in their original sizes as they have been reduced in size so they can be uploaded on the web. The pictures were also captured under controlled lighting. However, the samples shows the iQOO 8 Pro camera holds some promises.</p>

<p>The company had recently launched the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/01/21/chip-battle-snapdragon-870-5g-vs-dimensity-1200-which-flagship-killer-chipset-is-better/">Snapdragon 870</a> and it is not yet known how the upcoming chipset will differ from the SD870 SoC. However, the chipset is likely to be based on the 5nm process and meant for markets where 5G is still not available.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-357623 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/Qualcomm-Snapdragon-888-1024x576.jpg?x44794" alt="Qualcomm Snapdragon 888" width="1024" height="576" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/Qualcomm-Snapdragon-888-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/Qualcomm-Snapdragon-888-1024x576-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/Qualcomm-Snapdragon-888-1024x576-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/Qualcomm-Snapdragon-888-1024x576-696x392.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/Qualcomm-Snapdragon-888-1024x576-747x420.jpg 747w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></p>
<p>Additionally, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/qualcomm">Qualcomm</a> has also started working on the Snapdragon 888 successor which is internally known as &#8220;Waipio&#8221; and has a model number SM8450. It is expected to get launched by the end of this year.</p>
<p>Roland Quandt <a href="https://twitter.com/rquandt/status/1368887813891104772">says</a> that the company is testing samples compatible with 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 256GB of storage. What&#8217;s interesting is the camera capabilities of the chipset which is expected to get a major boost.</p>
<p>It is being reported that the upcoming flagship chipset from Qualcomm will come with <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/leica">Leica</a> technology and for this, both the company has entered into a partnership. Currently, they are testing on a module named &#8220;Leica1.&#8221;</p>
<p>For those who are unaware, Leica is a German company that manufactures cameras, lenses, binoculars, rifle scopes, microscopes and ophthalmic lenses. Huawei has been using the Leica lens for its flagship devices since past few years and has been appreciated for its camera performance over the years.</p>
<p>The current-generation flagship chip &#8212; Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 is manufactured by <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/samsung">Samsung</a> using the 5nm process. It remains to be seen if the company opts for a 4nm node for the production of its successor.</p>

<p><img loading="lazy" class=" wp-image-369698 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/20210205105225_8047.jpg?x44794" alt="ZTE" width="446" height="670" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/20210205105225_8047.jpg 333w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/20210205105225_8047-200x300.jpg 200w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/20210205105225_8047-280x420.jpg 280w" sizes="(max-width: 446px) 100vw, 446px" /></p>
<p>While the Axon 30 is the Chinese tech giant&#8217;s next gen flagship for 2021, it was yet to be officially confirmed to feature the new camera technology. But an official announcement through the company&#8217;s official Weibo account, a Chinese microblogging website, confirmed it earlier this week. The ZTE Axon 30 series will be the flagship lineup for this year and will sport top notch specs and features.</p>
<p>At the moment, the company has yet to officially reveal any specific details regarding the premium grade handset&#8217;s hardware, but it will likely feature a <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/snapdragon-888/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Qualcomm Snapdragon 888</a> SoC. In other words, the device will not only be the first flagship series successor to feature an under screen front camera, but also the first Snapdragon 888 powered device to arrive with the new camera technology.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-368419 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/01/ZTE-Axon-30-Pro-5G.jpg?x44794" alt="ZTE Axon 30 Pro 5G" width="680" height="383" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/01/ZTE-Axon-30-Pro-5G.jpg 680w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/01/ZTE-Axon-30-Pro-5G-300x169.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 680px) 100vw, 680px" /></p>
<p>The company had achieved to equip this on its flagship handset by using ultra-high transparency micron-level materials, with an independently driven display chip, and an integrated circuit design. We can expect the company to offer additional improvements and tweaks to the camera technology for the successor. Although, it is still too early to provide any concrete statements regarding the matter. So stay tuned for more, as we will be providing updates when additional information is available.</p>

<p>While Qualcomm had announced its latest Snapdragon 888 chipset last month, smartphones powered by the same are now getting launched. Xiaomi Mi 11, the first phone powered by the SD888 went on sale a few days ago and another device, iQOO 7, is <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/12/30/iqoo-7-with-snapdragon-888-is-launching-on-january-11/">all set to go official</a> this week.</p>

The company is also working on Exynos 2100.</p>
<p>Samsung is set to launch its next-generation flagship smartphone &#8212; <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/galaxy-s21">Galaxy S21</a> lineup on 14th January and those phones are expected to come powered by the Exynos 2100 chipset, which is believed to be revealed at the same event.</p>

<p>Qualcomm and <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/samsung">Samsung</a> are trying their best to capitalize on the hills of Huawei&#8217;s absence because of the newly imposed sanctions on the Chinese giant by the United States. Samsung, which so far used to reserve its chipset only for its own smartphones, is now giving it to other mobile makers.</p>
<p>However, in terms of total chipset shipments in the third quarter of 2020, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/mediatek">MediaTek</a> emerged as the leading brand with a 31 percent market. <p>The news arrives from the known tipster @数码闲聊站 on Weibo, a Chinese microblogging website. As per the report, Redmi might be following Xiaomi&#8217;s footsteps in launching its own flagship with Snapdragon 888, although, this handset could possibly be one of the cheapest in the market to sport the latest Qualcomm processor. As per the Weibo post, the device also arrived with the code name Haydn model K11.</p>

The Mi flagship is expected to launch as the first Snapdragon 888-powered smartphone. Before now, a couple of leaks have emerged giving some hint of what to expect. A new leak has emerged, this time, pictures of the tempered protective glass of the M 11.<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/mi-11-screen-3.png?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-361144" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/mi-11-screen-3.png?x44794" alt="Xiaomi Mi 11" width="600" height="399" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/mi-11-screen-3.png 600w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/mi-11-screen-3-300x200.png 300w" sizes="(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></a></p>
<p>The picture which appeared on Weibo shows the device will utilize a curved screen and will have a punch-hole on the top right corner of the display. This is similar to the punch-hole design utilized on the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-mi-10">Mi 10</a>, Mi 10 Pro, and Mi 10 Extreme Edition.</p>
<p>Xiaomi had previously confirmed that its third-generation under-screen camera technology will be mass-produced and commercialized in 2021. However, going by this leaked tempered glass, the Mi 11 may likely miss out on this technology. <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/mi-11-screen-2.png?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-361143" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/mi-11-screen-2.png?x44794" alt="Xiaomi Mi 11" width="600" height="420" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/mi-11-screen-2.png 600w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/mi-11-screen-2-300x210.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/mi-11-screen-2-100x70.png 100w" sizes="(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></a></p>

<p>In terms of core configuration, in addition to the Snapdragon 888 flagship processor, the Mi 11 is also expected to pack 8GB of RAM and have <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/12/08/alleged-xiaomi-mi-11s-3c-certification-suggests-55w-fast-charging-support/">support for 55W fast charging</a>.</p>
<p>It is worth noting that there are reports that the Mi 11 series also has a high-end version, which will feature a Samsung 2K AMOLED screen and have support for a 120Hz refresh rate. The high-end version is also expected to support 120W ultra-fast flash charging.<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/mi-11-screen.png?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-361142" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/mi-11-screen.png?x44794" alt="Xiaomi Mi 11" width="600" height="752" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/mi-11-screen.png 600w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/mi-11-screen-239x300.png 239w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/mi-11-screen-335x420.png 335w" sizes="(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></a></p>
<p>For the optics, the device will have a triple camera setup on the back along with an LED flashlight. This is horizontally stacked inside a squircle housing. <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/12/04/xiaomi-mi-11-render-offer-look-at-next-gen-flagship/">As per the concept renders</a>, the layout will also have a Blue Gradient color with a chamfered bump. <p>The initial reviews point in the direction that this latest offering by Qualcomm comes well recommended for high performance. The tests were carried out on a reference device powered by the Snapdragon 888 and conducted up to three times with average scores computed for the various performance metrics.</p>
<p>The benchmarks tested by the chipmaker include AnTuTu, GeekBench, GFXBench Aztec Normal and Manhattan 3.0, Ludashi AiMark, AITuTu, MLPerf and UL Procyon.</p>
<div class="su-note" style="border-color:#e5e5e5;border-radius:3px;-moz-border-radius:3px;-webkit-border-radius:3px;"><div class="su-note-inner su-u-clearfix su-u-trim" style="background-color:#ffffff;border-color:#ffffff;color:#333333;border-radius:3px;-moz-border-radius:3px;-webkit-border-radius:3px;"><strong>Editor&#8217;s Pick: <a title="Xiaomi Mi Watch Lite with up to 9 days battery power launched for the global market" href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/12/09/xiaomi-mi-watch-lite-9-days-battery-power-launched-global-market/" rel="bookmark">Xiaomi Mi Watch Lite with up to 9 days battery power launched for the global market</a></strong></div></div>
<p>Starting off with AnTuTu (version 8.3.4) the Snapdragon 888 obtained an average score of 735,439 points which is a milestone score on the platform. The reference device, Huawei’s Mate 40 Pro+ chalked 698,654 points while the highest performing Snapdragon 865 phone so far was Xiaomi’s Mi 10 Ultra with 671,045 points.</p>
<div style="width: 640px;" class="wp-video"><video class="wp-video-shortcode" id="video-361018-2" width="640" height="360" preload="metadata" controls="controls"><source type="video/mp4" src="https://fdn.gsmarena.com/imgroot/news/20/12/sd-888-ofic-benchmarks-qualcomm/gsmarena_001.mp4?_=2" /><a href="https://fdn.gsmarena.com/imgroot/news/20/12/sd-888-ofic-benchmarks-qualcomm/gsmarena_001.mp4">https://fdn.gsmarena.com/imgroot/news/20/12/sd-888-ofic-benchmarks-qualcomm/gsmarena_001.mp4</a></video></div>
<p>The Geekbench (version 5.0.2) tests revealed 1,135 points in the single-core test and 3,794 for the Snapdragon flagship, marginally higher than that of SD 865 at about 900 on the single-core test and 3,400 points in the multi-core test. This result puts the SD 888 ahead by about 20% and 10% in single-core and multi-core performance, respectively compared to its predecessor, the <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/snapdragon-865">SD 865</a>.<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/sd888.jpg?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-361020" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/sd888.jpg?x44794" alt="" width="1200" height="699" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/sd888.jpg 1200w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/sd888-300x175.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/sd888-768x447.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/sd888-1024x596.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/sd888-696x405.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/sd888-1068x622.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/sd888-721x420.jpg 721w" sizes="(max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px" /></a></p>
<p>Further details show that the SD 888’s Adreno 660 GPU averaged 86 frames per second on the Aztec Ruins Vulcan test and 169 fps on the Manhattan 3.0 test, both done at a resolution of 1080p offscreen. This result outclasses that of the Snapdragon 865+ whose maximum score was 133fps on Manhattan 3.0 runs.</p>

<p>The Galaxy S20 Ultra equipped with Exynos 990 was found to consume 55-percent of the battery during a “test project”, while the Galaxy S21 Ultra, fitted with Exynos 2100 lost only 22-percent for a similar test.<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/20201009142558_65337.png?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-346963" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/20201009142558_65337.png?x44794" alt="Samsung" width="1204" height="560" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/20201009142558_65337.png 1204w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/20201009142558_65337-300x140.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/20201009142558_65337-768x357.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/20201009142558_65337-1024x476.png 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/20201009142558_65337-696x324.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/20201009142558_65337-1068x497.png 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/20201009142558_65337-903x420.png 903w" sizes="(max-width: 1204px) 100vw, 1204px" /></a></p>
<p>Further details of the test project were not provided by Ice Universe although it seems to be based on the phone&#8217;s energy usage for specific tasks under certain conditions. The <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/04/04/samsung-exynos-990-is-as-powerful-as-snapdragon-865/">Exynos 990</a> is a 7nm processor, while the Exynos 2100 will be a 5nm chip.</p>
<p>In comparison, the Snapdragon 888 is also a 5nm processor. Those two chips will be direct competitors in 2021, and Samsung will use both in its smartphones.</p>
<div class="su-note" style="border-color:#e5e5e5;border-radius:3px;-moz-border-radius:3px;-webkit-border-radius:3px;"><div class="su-note-inner su-u-clearfix su-u-trim" style="background-color:#ffffff;border-color:#ffffff;color:#333333;border-radius:3px;-moz-border-radius:3px;-webkit-border-radius:3px;"><strong>Editor&#8217;s Pick: <a title="Google, OPPO, Vivo and Xiaomi to launch foldable phones in 2021" href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/12/10/google-oppo-vivo-and-xiaomi-to-launch-foldable-phones-in-2021/" rel="bookmark">Google, OPPO, Vivo and Xiaomi to launch foldable phones in 2021</a></strong></div></div>
<p>The Exynos 2100 will power Samsung’s high-end smartphones in Europe and the Indian sub-continent, while the Snapdragon 888 will apply for products produced for US and Chinese markets.</p>

<p><script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script></p>
<p><a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/qualcomm">Qualcomm</a> has a record of outclassing Exynos processors with their own offerings. It is yet to be seen whether this trend will change in 2021. What is obvious is that Samsung was certainly not oblivious of its rating with Qualcomm&#8217;s chips and could have gone the extra mile in research and development to berth the Exynos 2100.</p>
<p>Initial reports and projections have already put the Exynos 2100 a considerable step ahead. Samsung may indeed have realized the shortcomings of its processors, and made significant improvements and modifications with its latest chip. this time around.</p>
<p>It remains to be seen how accurate these claims are. The Exynos 2100 <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/12/09/samsung-teases-announcement-for-december-15-might-be-for-the-exynos-2100/">will likely come on stream by mid-December</a> although Samsung has not put out a definitive statement to this effect.</p>
<p>Samsung is expected to announce the launch of its <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/samsung-galaxy-s21-5g/">Galaxy S21 series</a> in mid-January 2021, and they are likely to be the first phones to come with the Exynos 2100 processor.</p>

The company during the event <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/12/01/qualcomm-announces-snapdragon-888-mobile-platform-with-an-integrated-5g-modem/">unveiled the Snapdragon 888</a>, its next-gen flagship mobile platform. While it did provide a list of OEMs that would utilize the chipset on their phones next year, Qualcomm didn&#8217;t indicate the model we&#8217;ll be seeing with an SD888 SoC. However,  Xiaomi&#8217;s CEO Lei Jun has disclosed via a Weibo post that the Mi 11 will be the first model to launch with a Snapdragon 888.<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/Xiaomi-Mi-11-Snapdragon-888-2.png?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-357624" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/Xiaomi-Mi-11-Snapdragon-888-2.png?x44794" alt="" width="594" height="457" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/Xiaomi-Mi-11-Snapdragon-888-2.png 594w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/Xiaomi-Mi-11-Snapdragon-888-2-300x231.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/Xiaomi-Mi-11-Snapdragon-888-2-546x420.png 546w" sizes="(max-width: 594px) 100vw, 594px" /></a></p>
<p>The 5nm Snapdragon 888 teams up with the 3rd generation Qualcomm Snapdragon X60 5G modem which enables global compatibility as it offers mmWave and sub-6 across all major bands worldwide. The modem also supports 5G carrier aggregation, global multi-SIM, standalone, non-standalone, and Dynamic Spectrum Sharing.</p>
<p>Further, the SDM888 flagship processor also comes with the new 6th-gen AI Engine. The hexagon processor brings a considerable leap in AI performance, 26 tera operations per second (TOPS) compared to the last generation. It also comes with a 2nd generation Qualcomm Sensing Hub which “incorporates low-power always-on AI processing for intuitive intelligent features.”<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/Xiaomi-Mi-11-Snapdragon-888.jpg?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-357622" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/Xiaomi-Mi-11-Snapdragon-888.jpg?x44794" alt="" width="800" height="885" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/Xiaomi-Mi-11-Snapdragon-888.jpg 800w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/Xiaomi-Mi-11-Snapdragon-888-271x300.jpg 271w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/Xiaomi-Mi-11-Snapdragon-888-768x850.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/Xiaomi-Mi-11-Snapdragon-888-696x770.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/Xiaomi-Mi-11-Snapdragon-888-380x420.jpg 380w" sizes="(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px" /></a></p>
<p>Apart from Xiaomi with the Mi 11, other brands such as Black Shark, Nubia RedMagic, OPPO Find X series, Realme, LG, Vivo, and iQOO as well as OnePlus are expected to launch models with Snapdragon 888 in the first half of 2021.</p>
