<p>Razer’s new Android-powered gaming handheld, the Razer Edge, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2023/01/06/razer-edge-gaming-device-launched/">was launched earlier this January.</a> With its launch, the company is back in the smartphone game. This device boasts a sleek design, as seen in the newest teardown video by PBKreviews. It is essentially a<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/tablet"> tablet</a> with a detachable Razer Kishi V2 Pro controller, and when clubbed together, it offers a compact, Switch-like gaming handheld device that can play <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/android/">Android</a> and cloud-based games. What sets the Razer Edge apart from a smartphone is the absence of a rear camera. The only camera is located on the front &#8211; along the edge of the display, making it suitable for landscape use.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-embed aligncenter is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper">
<iframe loading="lazy" title="Razer Edge Gaming Handheld Teardown Disassembly Repair Video Review" width="696" height="392" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/UsAlmz_kxpc?feature=oembed" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share" allowfullscreen></iframe>
</div></figure>

<p>The early stages of the teardown revealed a card slot, which can accommodate both a nanoSIM and microSD card. The device comes in two models — Razer Edge (Wi-Fi) and <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2022/10/16/razer-edge-5g-launched-with-6-8-inch-amoled-144hz-screen-snapdragon-g3x-gen-1/">Razer Edge 5G</a>. The teardown video also highlighted the missing mmWave antenna found in the 5G model since the device in the video featured Wi-Fi 6E connectivity.</p>

<p>The Edge features a combination of passive and active cooling. As seen in the teardown video, a graphite film is placed on the plastic back panel, while mesh-covered vents and a small fan inside work together to pull heat from the chipset. A vapor chamber on the other side of the board expels heat through the display. Concluding the teardown, PBKreviews gave the Razer Edge a repairability score of 6.5/10, citing the limited availability of replacement parts as the main complaint.</p>

<p>Under the hood, the device is powered by the Qualcomm<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/12/02/qualcomm-snapdragon-g3x-gen-1-gaming-platform-announced/"> Snapdragon G3X Gen 1</a> processor, which is built for gaming purposes and promises active cooling during prolonged game sessions. The Razer Edge is currently the only device in the market to be powered by this new chipset. The device packs 8GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 128GB of UFS 3.1 internal storage, which can be further expanded up to 2TB using a microSD card. The Razer Edge Wi-Fi model is priced at $399.99, while the 5G model is priced at $599.99.</p>

<p>The inception of online game streaming services appears to have put new life in the somewhat stagnant handheld gaming industry as a few major OEMs have launched Android-based consoles for exactly this purpose. <p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/razer">Razer</a>, a company known for making gaming products, has now launched its new handheld gaming device at the ongoing Consumer Electronics Show (CES 2023), dubbed Razer Edge.</p>

<p>The device is essentially a <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/tablet">tablet</a> with a detachable Razer Kishi V2 Pro controller and when clubbed together, it offers a compact, Switch-like gaming handheld device that can play Android and cloud-based games.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="576" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Razer-Edge-1024x576.jpeg?x44794" alt="Razer Edge" class="wp-image-507058" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Razer-Edge-1024x576.jpeg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Razer-Edge-300x169.jpeg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Razer-Edge-768x432.jpeg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Razer-Edge-696x392.jpeg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Razer-Edge-1068x601.jpeg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Razer-Edge-746x420.jpeg 746w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Razer-Edge.jpeg 1146w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /><figcaption>Razer Edge</figcaption></figure></div>

<p>The Razer Edge features a 6.8-inch AMOLED display with a screen resolution of 2400 x 1080 pixels and a 144Hz refresh rate. Under the hood, the device is powered by the Qualcomm <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/12/02/qualcomm-snapdragon-g3x-gen-1-gaming-platform-announced/">Snapdragon G3X Gen 1</a> processor, which is built for gaming purposes and promises active cooling during prolonged game sessions.</p>

<p>It is currently the only device in the market to come powered by this new chipset. The device packs 8GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 128GB of UFS 3.1 internal storage, which can be further expanded up to 2TB using a microSD card.</p>

<p>There&#8217;s a 5-megapixel <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/camera">camera sensor</a> on the front side of the device with 1080p support at 60fps. It also supports 2-way speakers with two digital microphones and THX Spatial Audio.</p>

<p>On the software front, the device runs the Android 12L operating system, offering access to millions of apps and games from the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/google">Google</a> Play Store. As the handheld device is focused on cloud gaming, it comes pre-installed with launchers for Xbox Cloud Gaming, Nvidia GeForce Now, and Steam Link, and more.</p>

<p>The device comes in two models &#8212; Razer Edge (Wi-Fi) and Razer Edge 5G. The <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/wi-fi">Wi-Fi</a> model, priced at $399.99, will be exclusively available for purchase in the US through Razer.com and RazerStore locations. On the other hand, the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/5g">5G model</a>, priced at $599.99, will be exclusively available through Verizon. The device is all set to go on sale in the United States from 26th January.</p>

The company has today announced a new concept laptop that it tagged Project Valerie. This new concept laptop is unique not just for its sturdy hardware but for the fact that it comes with not one, not two but three displays.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/razer-project-valerie/"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-114283" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/01/razer-project-valerie.jpg?x44794" alt="raze project valerie" width="1600" height="1069" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/01/razer-project-valerie.jpg 1600w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/01/razer-project-valerie-300x200.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/01/razer-project-valerie-768x513.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/01/razer-project-valerie-1024x684.jpg 1024w" sizes="(max-width: 1600px) 100vw, 1600px" /></a></p>
<p>The Project Valerie may likely tow the line of Project Fiona, its earlier concept laptop that later came out as Razer Edge. As for the specs and hardware, each of the three displays measures 17.3 inches in size and they all have 4K resolution each. The two side displays retract and deploy from behind the central display automatically and they align side by side to create a 180-degree viewing area. The implication of this is that they all don&#8217;t show one image unlike other display connections. Rather you get a continuous display as if it&#8217;s all on one display.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/razer-project-valerie-7/"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-114289" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/01/razer-project-valerie-7.jpg?x44794" alt="Project Valerie" width="1600" height="1067" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/01/razer-project-valerie-7.jpg 1600w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/01/razer-project-valerie-7-300x200.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/01/razer-project-valerie-7-768x512.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/01/razer-project-valerie-7-1024x683.jpg 1024w" sizes="(max-width: 1600px) 100vw, 1600px" /></a></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>This awesome ability is powered by NVIDIA&#8217;s Surround View technology, which enables programs to spread a single image across multiple monitors. Also there are no issues of wires clogging up as the screens retract and deploy because all the wiring are internal.</p>
<p style="text-align: center"><strong><span style="color: #ff0000">Read More: </span><a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/2017/01/05/samsungs-first-folding-smartphone-galaxy-x-arriving-q3-q4-2017/">Samsung’s First Folding Smartphone, the Galaxy X, Arriving Q3-Q4 2017</a></strong></p>
<p><a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/razer-project-valerie-2/"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-114284" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/01/razer-project-valerie-2.jpg?x44794" alt="Razer Project Valerie" width="1600" height="1067" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/01/razer-project-valerie-2.jpg 1600w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/01/razer-project-valerie-2-300x200.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/01/razer-project-valerie-2-768x512.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/01/razer-project-valerie-2-1024x683.jpg 1024w" sizes="(max-width: 1600px) 100vw, 1600px" /></a></p>
<p>Curiously, Razer left much to our imagination as they didn&#8217;t disclose much about the specs like the processor, GPU and memory. They did disclose, though, that the Project Valerie uses an all-aluminum case and Razer&#8217;s short-throw keyboard suitable for hard core gaming. Also the device has a hardware lineup suited to meet the requirements for using HTC Vive and Oculus Rift with it. As stated earlier, Project Valerie is a concept gadget and so may not see the light of day, just like many products that would be unveiled at CES 2017. Except the product is received with los of enthusiasm and backing, then we might just see the device materializing into a consumer product.</p>
