After recently launching the Realme UI 5.0 early access program for the Realme 11 Pro and 11 Pro+ devices, the brand is now inviting users to participate in the second round of the early access program. This exclusive beta opportunity allows users to preview upcoming changes to their devices with the Android 14 update.

The realme UI 5.0 Early Access brings several enhancements aimed at refining the user experience and device functionality.

Key updates include the introduction of the Pantanal Service featuring Fluid Cloud, offering dynamic information at your fingertips. The Smart Efficiency upgrade introduces File Dock for seamless content transfer between apps and devices.

Cross-device connectivity sees improvements with added widget recommendations on the Shelf. Security and privacy concerns are addressed through enhanced permission management for photos and videos, ensuring safer app access. Performance optimization takes center stage, promising improved system stability, faster app launches, and smoother animations.

Aesthetic updates include the Aquamorphic Design enhancement, offering a more comfortable and clear color experience. The update also introduces Aquamorphic-themed ringtones and revamped system notification sounds. For environmentally-conscious users, a carbon tracking Always-On Display (AOD) visualizes carbon emissions avoided by choosing to walk over driving.

Known Issues and Important Information:

However, users should be aware of a couple of known issues. When using floating windows, there might be difficulty sliding the desktop, which can be resolved by pulling down the status bar. Additionally, the Glance Lock-screen feature is not yet available in the Early Access release but is promised in future versions.

Realme emphasizes that the Early Access program is a beta initiative, cautioning users about potential bugs and app compatibility issues. The company recommends avoiding installation on primary devices due to the unpredictable impact it may have on daily use.

How to Join Early Access:

The application channel for Early Access opened on December 25, 2023, with limited seats available. Interested users need to ensure their device meets certain criteria, such as having 60% or more battery, the required UI version (RMX3741_13.1.0.545(EX01) for the 11 Pro+ and RMX3771_13.1.0.546(EX01) for the 11 Pro. Lastly, Developer Mode should be enabled before updating.

Applying is straightforward: users navigate to Settings, click on the “realme UI 4.0” banner, select Beta program, then Early Access, and finally, apply by submitting their details.

Realme 11 Pro 5G gets Early Access to Realme UI 5.0 based on Android 14

Just like the Chinese smartphone manufacturer Realme promised in the Early Access timeline, the Realme UI 5.0 arrived on time for the Realme GT 2 Pro. Later, the update was rolled out for Realme GT Neo 3 and GT Neo 3 150W.

Now, the brand continues to release the Early Access of Android 14 for Realme 11 Pro 5G users in India. With this major update, Realme’s number series smartphone, the Realme 11 Pro 5G, now has early access to all the features of Android 14.

The users may enroll in the update by heading to Settings > About device > Click on the “Realme UI 4.0” banner at the top > Click on the three dots in the top right corner > Beta program > Early Access > Apply Now > Submit your details and finish the apply.

But before that, users must update their device to the required UI version: RMX3771_13.1.0.546(EX01). Then, you will see an Early Access enrollment option over there. Make sure to read the application and tips, and review the update carefully.

Realme unveiled its latest number series in China last month, with the introduction of the Realme 11 Pro and Realme 11 Pro+. These models have also recently made their international debut, starting with a launch in India. Both phones offer an appealing design and impressive specifications at an affordable price. In the most recent update, these Realme smartphones are now available for purchase across Europe. Here’s what you need to know.

Realme 11 Pro series price in Europe

Realme 11 Pro and Realme 11 Pro+ are now available for pre-order in Italy and France. Shipments for these countries are scheduled for June 30 (Via GSMArena). Realme 11 Pro Series Update Disables Contentious ‘Enhanced Intelligent Services’ feature, Revamps Description

Realme was recently accused of collecting personal user data through a Realme UI 4.0 feature known as “Enhanced Intelligent Services.” The description of this feature explicitly mentions that it collects data like device information, app usage statistics, location data, calendar events, and statistics related to SMS messages and calls. What really sparked the controversy was the fact that this feature came enabled by default.

Rajeev Chandrashekar, Union Minister of Electronics and Technology said that the government would investigate and verify the claims. Realme later clarified that the feature is there for optimization purposes and the data in question is stored and processed locally. Now, Realme has rolled out a new update for the newly launched Realme 11 Pro 5G and Realme 11 Pro+ 5G which disables this option. The updates come with firmware version RMX3771_13.1.0.524(EX01) and RMX3741_13.1.0.524(EX01).

The update improves system stability and optimizes the power consumption of the camera. In order to prevent additional controversy, the update has also revised the “Enhanced Intelligent Services” feature’s description and has turned it off by default. The description now says that the feature focuses solely on improving the user experience by analyzing device usage patterns. Regarding the optimized charging functionality, it will now utilize local data and app usage statistics directly on the device, while obtaining permission for location information.

The Chinese smartphone maker has announced that it is making a new warranty extension plan that brings an additional one year of warranty period for the Realme 11 Pro series. The announcement was first shared on Twitter and it states that users can avail “Unlimited number of repair requests up to the benefit value can be availed under this plan.” Notably, the brand will even cover any manufacturing defect or electrical issues on your registered devices that are being sold in India through official channels.

For those interested, you can head to the company’s official stores or websites to buy the new warranty extension plan or even go to select e-commerce platforms in the region. To avail this new plan, customers need to purchase the service for a 1,299 INR. When claiming this warranty to get your device services, the users only need an invoice.

Realme 11 Pro Review: Premium-looking smartphone on budget

Recently, the Realme 11 Pro was released in India alongside the Realme 11 Pro Plus. The two smartphones are almost identical with a few differences.

There’s a price difference of ₹4,000 (~$50) between them. This sum is considered high in developing nations like India but you do get some notable upgrades for the asking price.

Further, the lineup goes head-to-head with the Redmi Note 12 Pro series, which also consists of two phones. In fact, it undercuts with cheaper pricing.

This makes the Realme 11 Pro priced at ₹23,999 the cheapest of all four handsets. So the question arises whether it is worth buying as you would be saving some money that could be either spent on accessories or some other stuff.

Having used the Realme 11 Pro for the past few days, courtesy of the Indian division of the brand, I have the answer to the above question. Before I share my thoughts, I would like to let you know that Realme had no editorial input in this article.

With that out of the way, below-listed are the reasons why I think you might or might not consider buying the Realme 11 Pro.

A design like no other

Usually, budget and mid-range smartphones are known to sacrifice design and build to accommodate other features. There are only a few handsets on the market that focus more on the look part, and Realme 11 Pro is one of them.

In my view, the Realme 11 Pro is the best-designed smartphone under ₹25,000 in India right now. It succeeds the Oppo F21 Pro which was released a year ago.

It comes in two variants, one with a faux leather back and the other with a plastic rear panel. The brand sent me the former in beige color. You can get the leather version in green as well, while the plastic variant is limited to black.

The phone feels comfortable to hold and does not feel heavy despite weighing around 191g. It also does not seem thick though it has a thickness of about 8.7mm due to its curved design.

The handset not only has a curved back but also a curved display on the front. The rear is dominated by a giant circular camera island which gives it a premium look.

The power key and the volume rocker are placed on the right edge. While dual SIM card slot, primary microphone hole, USB Type-C port, and main speaker grille can be found at the bottom. Finally, the top side only has a secondary speaker grille and another microphone hole.

The only thing that takes away the premium feeling is the cheaped-out vibration motor present inside the device. The haptics are not up to the look and feel of the product.

Pleasing display and speakers

The Realme 11 Pro sports a 6.7-inch centered punch-hole curved OLED display with a reliable optical fingerprint sensor underneath it. The 10-bit panel comes with a resolution of 2412 x 1080 pixels (FHD+), a 120Hz refresh rate, and a 360Hz touch sampling rate.

You get five color modes, and by default, it comes with ‘Vivid’-enabled. If you are into true-to-life colors, you can either opt for ‘Natural’ or ‘Cinematic’ modes. On the other hand, if you want punchier colors than the default profile, you can select ‘Brilliant’.

The display gets enough bright under direct sunlight and very dim in a dark environment. The 2160Hz PWM dimming further elevates the experience of using the phone in different lighting conditions without straining your eyes.

The refresh rate automatically switches between 60Hz, 90Hz, and 120Hz depending on the content on the screen without any stutters. You can also force the panel to refresh at either 60Hz or 120Hz.

The palm rejection for the curved screen is really good as I rarely faced any accidental touches. However, despite supporting HDR10, HDR10+, and HLG, the panel cannot play HDR content on streaming platforms, except for YouTube.

The display is paired with a good set of dual stereo speakers. They don’t support Dolby Atmos but sound fine nevertheless.

Lasts longer and charges faster

The Realme 11 Pro is backed by a 5,000mAh battery. It can easily last a day on a full charge.

If you are not a heavy user, you can use it for more than a day without any hassle. The device’s battery is well-optimized to use for a longer period of time.

At the same time, it charges quickly at a maximum rate of 67W. It takes about 45 minutes to reach 100% from 20%.

The handset ships with an 80W charger and the required cable.

Fewer yet capable cameras

The Realme 11 Pro only has a single usable rear camera though the module looks gigantic. It arrives with an OIS-assisted 100MP primary sensor paired with a 2MP depth sensor. On the front, it has a 16MP snapper.

The main camera can output decent pictures under good lighting conditions. The colors are punchy (non-natural) with boosted red/green. Most consumers would like these eye-catchy images that are social media-ready.

HDR processing can be a hit or miss. You never know whether you would get balanced, overexposed, or underexposed pictures.

The image quality takes a hit under low light. However, you mostly get blur-free pictures, just like during the daytime. Enabling ‘Night’ mode can result in slightly better output.

As for the front-facing camera, it outputs good images only when the lighting is perfect. If you have a strong light source directly hitting on your face, you will get an unnatural picture.

There’s a ‘Street’ mode for the rear camera offering two focal lengths, such as 26mm (1x) and 52mm (2x). In this mode, you can enable ‘Auto zoom’ to zoom into a specific object in the frame by simply tapping on it.

But I enjoyed using the customizable aperture the more. You can click macro and product shots using this feature. The images do lack details as the feature uses digital zoom.

Simply put, Realme has tried to balance the lack of additional cameras with software. But it only works to some extent. I did miss the ultra-wide camera during my time with the product.

Finally, video recording is average like most of the mid-range smartphones on the market.

Good enough performance

The Realme 11 Pro is powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 7050 SoC. Though the chip sounds new, it is nothing but a renamed Dimensity 1080.

This chipset is paired with LPDDR4x RAM and UFS 2.2 storage. You can check out the screenshots to know how the device performs on benchmark apps.

As far as real-world usage is concerned, I did not face any stutters. I am not a gamer but do play Pokemon Unite at times. The game plays in ‘High’ graphic settings by default, which is a step down from ‘Highest’.

The thermals are well-controlled. The phone does not heat abnormally. But the 5G reception left me wanting more. The speeds are very slow (~1Gbps) at my home compared to what I get on other devices (~2Gbps). Even the mobile hotspot performance is not up to the mark with bandwidth fluctuations.

Questionable software practices

The Realme 11 Pro boots Realme UI 4.0 based on Android 13. The brand promises two Android updates and three years of security updates. Basically, it runs a slightly customized version of ColorOS like OnePlus phones.

I personally rank ColorOS as the second-best Android skin after One UI. The software is smooth and responsive.

But the implementation of promotions (ads) in Realme UI is as shady as what I experienced on Funtouch OS-running iQOO Z7.

There is no straightforward option to turn off app scanning, which triggers after the installation of apps from the Google Play Store. When this happens, a full-screen recommendation page is thrown on the screen.

To stop this from happening, you have to disable a system app called ‘SecurityAnalysis’ under Settings. Regular consumers wouldn’t know these things and will experience unwanted ads on the product they have already paid for.

Almost all first-party applications also spam you throughout the day with multiple notifications. You have to disable the notifications and never open these apps to safeguard yourselves.

Finally, there are a ton of pre-installed applications. But thankfully, you can uninstall most of them.

Closing Remarks

As you can grasp from above, the software is the Achilles’ heel of Realme 11 Pro. If you can forego that, it is a stellar product with little to no shortcomings.

The closest competitor is Redmi Note 12 Pro, which is ₹1,000 costlier. The Redmi handset neither has an attractive design nor feels good in hands. It also has poor thermal management and average battery life.

But the Redmi Note 12 Pro has a better display and speakers. In fact, along with Redmi Note 12 Pro Plus, it is the best media consumption device under ₹30,000. Additionally, it offers better 5G performance as well.

Therefore, if you consume so much content on mobile devices, the Redmi Note 12 Pro is the one you should buy. Whereas, if want a sleek smartphone and save some money, the Realme 11 Pro is the one for you.

Either way, we suggest you try these phones in person before making a decision.

Smartphone launches are expected to slow down in June 2023. After two months of busy releases, it will be comparatively calmer for a while.

As of writing this article, only a few brands have officially confirmed to debut new phones. These companies are Motorola and Samsung to name a couple.

On the other hand, the Realme 11 Pro+ will arrive in two configurations, such as 8 GB RAM + 256 GB storage and 12 GB RAM + 256 GB storage. Realme has finally announced the highly anticipated Realme 11 series of smartphone in its home market of China. The company had been teasing its latest entries in its popular numbered series for a while, and now, the Realme 11, Realme 11 Pro, and Realme 11 Pro+ models have been officially launched. Realme 11 series: Design & Display

With the new 11 series, the Chinese smartphone maker has made a major redesign compared to its predecessor. Unlike the more boxier look on the last gen models, the Realme 11 series features a more curvier design on the corners and edges. Furthermore, one of the biggest changes is undoubtedly on the back, with the 11, 11 Pro, and 11 Pro+ model featuring a large circular camera island. It also arrives in brand new color options with one of the more notable ones being Sunrise Beige.

This version is available for the top end model and includes a faux leather and a vertical gold and silver stitching along with a golden frame for the camera module. This aesthetic was co designed with Matteo Menotto, who is a former designer for the popular luxury brand Gucci. The Realme 11 Pro series sports a tall 6.7 inch AMOLED display that offers Full HD+ resolution and 120Hz refresh rate. The flagship 11 Pro+ model even comes with 2160 PWM dimming, 100 percent DCI P3 color gamut support, and a curved panel on the front. The Realme 11 Pro series are quite similar in many ways and this includes most of their internal specifications as well. The two models are equipped with MediaTek’s newly unveiled Dimensity 7050 SoC. This is basically a rebranded version of the existing Dimensity 1080 SoC. On the other hand, the base variant will be powered by a Dimensity 6020 chipset. The higher end Pro models will feature up to 12GB of LPDDR4X RAM and up to 1TB of internal storage, while the base version features up to 12GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage.

Talking about the cameras, the Realme 11 Pro features a dual camera setup that consists of a 108 megapixel primary sensor and a 2 megapixel portrait shooter. It houses a 16 megapixel selfie camera on the front. On the other hand, the 11 Pro+ model features a triple camera setup on the rear, which consists of a 200 megapixel primary sensor (Samsung ISOCELL HM3) that has a 2.24μm large pixel size.

The GPU features a Mali-G68 MC4 and supports LPDDR5/4x memory as well as UFS 3.1/2.1 storage standards.

Geekbench’s benchmark test results show that the Realme 11 Pro+ achieves scores of 838 and 2303 points in its single-core and multi-core tests, respectively.

The Realme 11 series is expected to offer massive storage and memory options, with up to 16 GB of LPDDR4x RAM and 1 TB of storage. Both the Pro and Pro+ models will house a powerful 5,000mAh battery. The Pro model is expected to come with 67W fast charging, while the Pro+ may come with a higher capacity of 80W or 100W fast charging technology. The vanilla model is likely to feature 33W fast charging according to a 3C listing. As for software, all three devices are expected to debut with Android 13 onboard.

The month of May will be as busy as April if not more in terms of smartphone launches. Only 3 events are officially confirmed so far. But there are multiple other expected conferences, the dates for which should be revealed in the coming days.

We are looking forward to new product releases from a whopping 12 brands. Apple and Samsung are the only major companies that might not debut new phones. Though the latter may introduce certain already announced handsets in newer markets.

These forthcoming devices will be spread across different price segments. Most of the phones on the list are being launched ahead of the 618 shopping festival in China, which annually occurs during mid to late June.

That does not mean there won’t be any global releases. In fact, we will be witnessing the debut of some of the most anticipated smartphones of 2023.

The Realme 11 series is scheduled to launch in China on May 10 at 4 PM GMT+8. The lineup is said to consist of three handsets, such as Realme 11, Realme 11 Pro, and Realme 11 Pro Plus.

However, the brand has been only teasing the ‘Pro+’ variant. This version will not only have a leather back but also an OIS-assisted 200MP main camera and a curved display. It will be powered by the newly announced MediaTek Dimensity 7050 chipset.

For the first time, the revived Razr lineup will have two models in a single generation. They are said to be called Razr 40 and Razr 40 Ultra. The latter will have the largest cover screen on a clamshell foldable handset to date.

Whereas, the Edge 40 will be a toned-down version of Edge 40 Pro with some interesting features. It will come with a leather back, water resistance, a MediaTek Dimensity 8020 chip, a 144Hz OLED display, a 50MP primary camera, a 4,400mAh battery, 68W wired charging, and 15W wireless charging.

Honor 90 Series

The Honor 90 series is tipped to launch in May, however, its release could be delayed until June. The successor of the Honor 80 series is rumored to bring upgrades in the camera and performance departments.

The higher-end model in the lineup is said to arrive with specs, such as a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 SoC, a 1.5K resolution curved display with high-frequency PWM, and a 200MP Samsung ISOCELL S5KH3 camera.

More or less, the top model will be almost the same as the Honor 80 Pro that was released in late November 2022.

iQOO Neo 8 Series

The iQOO Neo 8 series is anticipated to make its debut in China in May. There will be a standard and a pro variant. The iQOO Neo 8 Pro will be the first pro model in the Neo series.

These phones will arrive with a unique rear design. The vanilla, pro, and premier variants will be powered by MediaTek’s Helio G85, Helio G99, and Dimensity 1200 chipsets, respectively.

We already know that Realme is gearing up to launch its Realme 11 series of smartphone on May 10 in its home market of China. Now, a new report has even revealed that the lineup will also be arriving in the Indian market around the same time, and apparently, there is also a new Narzo model that will be unveiled as well. Apart from this, the Narzo N53 model is also expected to arrive in May as well. The report revealed the storage configurations of the higher end Pro models on the upcoming 11 series phones. The 11 Pro will arrive in three storage options, namely 8GB RAM + 128GB storage, 8GB + 256GB, and a 12GB + 256GB variant.

On the other hand, the Realme 11 Pro+ model will launch in just two options, including an 8GB + 256GB and a 12GB + 256GB option. The report also revealed color options for both of the Pro models as well. The 11 Pro series will reportedly come in three color options, including Astral Black, Oasis Green, and Sunrise Beige. Moving forward, the Chinese smartphone maker is apparently planning on launching the Narzo N53 model in India next month as well. Since the Realme 11 Pro and Realme 11 Pro+ have already received approval from China’s TENAA authority, both models are also expected to launch in the next month. A leak that surfaced at the beginning of this month claimed that the Pro models would feature the Dimensity 1080 chipset. However, according to a new Weibo post by well-known tipster Digital Chat Station, the Realme 11 Pro+ will feature a completely new Dimensity 7-series chipset, which works at 2.6GHz.

The Realme 11 Pro and 11 Pro+’s TENAA certifications show a 2.6GHz chip, which suggests that the same SoC may power both devices. Recently, Vivo unveiled the Vivo V27 5G with the all-new Dimensity 7200 chipset onboard. Realme has been working on its upcoming device, the Realme 11 Pro, which has recently passed the TENAA certification with model number “RMX3770” in China. This certification has revealed some key features of the device, including a circular camera module and a centered punch-hole curved display.

As per the renders shared on the TENAA website, the Realme 11 Pro will come with a centered punch-hole display with a curved screen. Moving to the back of the device, it will sport a circular camera module with the primary camera sensor placed in the center, accompanied by two secondary lenses on either side and an LED flash above them. The design of the camera module is a departure from Realme’s previous rectangular camera modules, adding a new and unique look to the phone. The Realme branding is also there in the back panel.
