The Realme 12 makes its global debut in India. The product is positioned below the Redalme 12 Plus, which also got announced in the country.

The vanilla model is the only phone in the Realme 12 series to feature an LCD screen. It also does not flaunt leather back but retains the same watch-inspired design

As the base model in the lineup, it comes with downgraded specs but matches with the competition.

Realme 12 Specifications

The smartphone sports a flat farm design and a circular camera module. It is built around a 6.72-inch centered punch-hole display. The FHD+ (2400 x 1080 pixels) LCD screen offers up to a 120Hz refresh rate, a 240Hz touch sampling rate, and a 950 nits peak brightness level.

The device is run by a MediaTek Dimensity 6100 Plus SoC paired with LPDDR4x RAM and UFS 2.2 storage. It is backed by a 5,000mAh battery and supports 45W wired charging.

The handset has a dual camera setup on the rear comprising a 108MP primary sensor and a 2MP depth sensor. While on the front, it has an 8MP snapper.

The phone arrives with a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and Realme UI 5.0 based on Android 14. Last but not least, its connectivity options include dual SIM, 5G, WiFi 5, Bluetooth 5.2, GNSS, and USB Type-C.

Realme 12 Price in India

The Realme 12 comes in the following memory configurations in India

6GB + 128GB – ₹16999 (~$205)
8GB + 128GB – ₹17999 (~$215)

It can be availed in either Twilight Purple or Woodland Green color options.

The sale starts at 3 PM today (March 6). Buyers will get a free pair of Realme Buds Wireless 3 until March 10.

The Mobile World Congress 2024 just ended, however, new phones keep coming. Four brands have scheduled launches for the next week.

Almost all of these handsets are budget and mid-range models. The companies that will debut new devices are Samsung, Nothing, Realme, and Vivo.

Samsung and Realme will announce budget 5G smartphones. Nothing will introduce its first budget phone. Finally, Vivo will unveil new V series handsets.

Let’s take a look at these devices one by one.

Upcoming Smartphones Next Week

Samsung Galaxy F15 5G

The Samsung Galaxy F15 5G is set to launch in India on March 4 (Monday). The phone will go official at 12 PM IST.

The device will come with a 6.5-inch FHD+ 90Hz Super AMOLED display, a MediaTek Dimensity 6100 Plus chip, a triple camera setup, and a 6,000mAh battery. It is expected to offer 4 years of Android updates.

The product is tipped to cost below ₹15,000.

Nothing Phone (2a)

The Nothing (2a) is scheduled to launch on March 5 (Tuesday). The event for the handset will start at 5 PM IST.

The smartphone will retain the transparent design and Glyph lights from prior models. It will arrive with a 6.7-inch FHD+ 120Hz OLED display, a MediaTek Dimensity 7200 Pro chip, a 50MP primary camera, and a 5,000mAh battery.

The product will be priced below ₹30,000 in India.

Realme 12 and Realme 12 Plus

The Realme 12 and Realme 12 Plus are planned to launch in India on March 6. They will be announced at 12 PM IST.

The Plus model is already official in other markets. It comes with a 6.67-inch FHD+ 120Hz AMOLED display, a MediaTek Dimesnity 7050 SoC, a 50MP main camera, a 16MP selfie camera, a 5,000mAh battery, and 67W charging support.

On the other hand, the Realme 12 is expected to arrive with a MediaTek Dimensity 6100 Plus chip, a 6.72-inch FHD+ 120Hz display (LCD), and a 5,000mAh battery.

Vivo V30 Series

The Vivo V30 series is set to launch in India on March 7 (Thursday). It will be unveiled at 12PM IST.

The company will debut two devices in the country, namely Vivov V30 and Vivo V30 Pro. Both of them just recently went official in Indonesia.

The duo comes with the same design, a 6.78-inch 120Hz curved AMOLED display, a 5,000mAh battery, and 80W charging support. The vanilla model is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 chip, while the pro version houses a MediaTek Dimensity 8200 SoC.

Additionally, the V30 Pro arrives with Zeiss optics consisting of triple 50MP sensors paired with wide, ultrawide, and 2x telephoto lenses.

Realme 12 Series Pre-orders Goes Live in India today

Realme is gearing up to unveil the new Realme 12 series in India soon. But just ahead of the official announcement, the company will be putting up the Realme 12 and Realme 12+ 5G for pre-orders. So here are all the details.

Realme 12 Series Pre-Orders

To recall, the Realme 12 and Realme 12+ models will be announced in India on 6th March 2024 at 12 PM IST. However, both of these devices will also be available for pre-orders starting today (29th February 2024) at 2 PM IST. For those interested, you can head to the brand’s official website to pre-order a Realme 12 series smartphone.

Just yesterday, the camera and chipset details regarding the Realme 12+ 5G model were confirmed. The device will pack a Sony LYT600 primary sensor on the rear, which is paired with an ultra wide angle lens and a portrait shooter with 2x zoom. Under the hood, this model is equipped with the MediaTek Dimensity 7050 SoC that is paired with 12GB of RAM. On the front, the Realme 12+ sports an AMOLED display that offers 120Hz refresh rate. A large 5,000mAh battery pack powers this device, which supports 67W wired fast charging.

On the other hand, the base Realme 12 was recently spotted on the GeekBench database. This listing revealed that the smartphone is equipped with the MediaTek Dimensity 6100+ SOC, which is paired with 8GB of RAM. Based on what we know so far, the vanilla version also offers a 5,000mAh battery pack and features a 108-megapixel primary sensor on the back. Other notable features include Android 14 OS, side mounted fingerprint scanner, a 6.72-inch IPS LCD panel with a 120hz refresh rate, and more.

Realme is set to launch the Realme 12 and 12+ smartphones in India on March 6th at 12:00 PM, following the successful debut of the Realme 12 Pro series in the country. This news comes from tipster Sudhanshu Ambhore, who previously revealed the specifications of the Realme 12+.

The Realme 12 Pro+ and 12+ 5G models are also scheduled for release in Malaysia on February 29, 2024, with the Realme 12+ 5G expected to be introduced in several other countries as well.

Details about the Realme 12+ suggest it will feature a 6.67-inch AMOLED display with a 2400 x 1080 resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. The device is expected to be equipped with a triple camera setup, consisting of a 50MP main sensor with OIS, an 8MP ultrawide camera, and a 2MP macro lens. A 16MP camera will serve for front-facing photos.

The Realme 12+ is anticipated to be powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 7050 SoC, accompanied by a 5,000mAh battery supporting 67W fast charging. The smartphone will likely offer up to 12GB RAM and 256GB storage, running Realme UI 5.0 based on Android 14. The device dimensions are expected to be 163 x 75.5 x 7.9 mm, with a weight of 190g.

Upcoming Smartphones in February: Xiaomi, Oppo, Vivo, Nothing, and more

MWC 2024 is scheduled for February 26-29. However, most smartphones will likely go official ahead of that. Gone are the days when Mobile World Congress used to be the destination of hot new phone releases.

Around 12 brands are expected to announce new phones. Only a couple of them fall under the premium category. While the rest of them are either mid-rangers or budget models.

Almost all of these handsets will be unveiled for global markets. The companies that will debut new smartphones are Xiaomi, Huawei, Oppo, Vivo, Realme, iQOO, Nothing, HMD, Honor, Tecno, Infinix, and Itel.

Let’s check out these devices one by one.

Upcoming Smartphones in February 2024

Xiaomi 14 Ultra

The Xiaomi 14 Ultra is tipped to launch by the end of February at either MWC or earlier. Unlike its predecessors, it is expected to see a wider global release.

The device is said to arrive with a quad 50MP camera system. The primary camera will be a Sony LYT-900 with variable aperture. It will be paired with an ultrawide unit, a telephoto shooter, and a periscope telephoto snapper.

The phone will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip and draw energy from a 5,180mah battery. It will support 90W wired and 50W wireless charging standards.

It is anticipated to carry a higher price tag due to a rise in BOM (Bill of Materials).

Huawei Pocket S2

The Huawei Pocket S2 is rumored to launch on February 27. It could get announced at MWC.

The device is said to be powered by an underclocked version of the HiSilicon Kirin 9000s chip. Unfortunately, that’s all the information we have on this handset.

The Pocket S2 will succeed the original Pocket S from late 2022, which was introduced as the company’s most affordable foldable smartphone at the time.

Oppo F25 and Reno 11F

The Oppo F25 is tipped to launch in India in February. The device will also go by Oppo Reno 11F in Southeast Asia.

The phone is expected to arrive with a 6.7-inch FHD+ 120Hz OLED display with an in-screen fingerprint sensor and a MediaTek Dimensity 7050 chip. It will draw energy from a 5,000mAh battery and support 67W wired charging.

The handset will sport a 64MP (wide) + 8MP (ultrawide) + 2MP (macro) triple camera setup and a 32MP selfie camera. It will be IP65-rated for splash resistance.

Vivo V30 Series, V40 SE, and V40 Lite

The Vivo V30 series is officially set to launch in February. The lineup is expected to include two devices, namely Vivo V30 and Vivo V30 Pro. They are anticipated to be accompanied by Vivo V40 SE (aka Vivo V40 Lite).

The Vivo V30 is said to be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 chip. It will flaunt a curved OLED display and support 80W wired charging.

On the other hand, the Vivo V40 SE will succeed the Vivo V30 Lite. Its specs are not known, just like those of Vivo V30 Pro.

Realme 12 Series

The Realme 12 series will debut in China in February. Apart from Realme 12 Pro and Realme 12 Pro Plus, the region will also get the vanilla Realme 12 and Realme 12 Plus.

As for Realme 12 Plus, it will feature a similar design as the Pros but will arrive with downgraded specs. It is expected to come with an unnamed 2.6GHz chip, a 50MP (wide) + 8MP (ultrawide) + 2MP (macro) triple camera setup, a 16MP selfie camera, and a 5,000mAh battery.

Unfortunately, we have no info on the vanilla Realme 12.

iQOO Neo 9 Pro

The iQOO Neo 9 Pro is scheduled to launch in India on February 22. The pre-bookings for the phone start from February 8.

iQOO Neo 9 Pro

The handset will succeed the iQOO Neo 7 Pro. It will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC and draw energy from a 5,160mAh battery with support for 120W wired charging.

The device will sport a 6.78-inch OLED display with a 1.5K resolution and a 144Hz refresh rate. It will come with a 50MP Sony IMX920 primary sensor, an 8MP ultrawide unit, and a 16MP selfie camera.

It is expected to cost around ₹30,000.

Honor X9b

Honor X9b is set to launch in India on February 15. Since the handset is official in several markets, everything about it is already known.

The phone arrives with a 6.78-inch FHD+ 120Hz curved display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 chip, a 108MP primary camera, and a 16MP selfie camera. It is backed by a 5,800mAh battery and supports 35W wired charging.

The product is expected to compete with the Redmi Note 13 series and Realme 12 Pro lineup in the region.

Nothing Phone 2a

The Nothing Phone 2a is anticipated to go official at MWC. It will be the brand’s first budget smartphone.

The handset is tipped to come with a 6.7-inch FHD+ OLED display and a MediaTek Dimensity 7200 SoC. It will feature a circular camera module headed by a 50MP primary sensor surrounded by Glyph LED lights.

The product will support 45W wired charging and is expected to cost under €400.

HMD Smartphone

Recently, HMD (Human Mobile Devices) confirmed to introduce its self-branded phones. At least one of them is expected to go official at MWC.

This device is tipped to sport a 108MP primary camera. Nothing else is known about this product.

Tecno Pova 6 Series

The Tecno Pova 6 series is confirmed to go official at MWC. The handsets will support Dolby Atmos.

The Pova 6 Pro is expected to be powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 6080 chip. It will sport an FHD+ display and boot Android 14.

Unfortunately, that’s all the information we have on the lineup.

Infinix Note 40 Series

The Infinix Note 40 series is anticipated to go official at MWC. The lineup is expected to include vanilla and pro models.

Interestingly, both of them will be powered by the same chipset — MediaTek Helio G99. They will sport a centered punch-hole FHD+ display on the front and a triple camera system on the rear.

The pro variant will support 70W wired charging while the standard variant will be limited to 40W. However, both of them will support 5W wireless charging.

Itel Power Series

Itel is tipped to launch three Power series smartphones in India in February.

The first one is said to ship with Android Go Edition. The second model will support fast charging. Finally, the third handset will arrive with an exclusive India-first memory feature.

Realme 12 and 12+ inch closer to launch, spotted on Indian certification platform

The upcoming Realme 12 and 12+ smartphones have surfaced on the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) certification platform, indicating their imminent launch in the Indian market.

While the Realme 12 Pro series launch is scheduled for January 29, 2024, these non-pro models appear poised to follow soon after.

Indian certification confirms arrival

Both the Realme 12+ (model number RMX3867) and Realme 12 (model number RMX3868) received BIS certification on January 24, 2024. This confirms their official entry into the Indian market, though an official launch date remains unannounced.

The Realme 12+ has also been cleared by the US Federal Communications Commission (FCC). This reveals some exciting features and design details.

The FCC documents show that the Realme 12+ will look a lot like the Realme 12 Pro, measuring about 162.9 mm by 75.5 mm. It will have a round camera setup on the back, likely with three cameras, including a possible periscope telephoto lens.

The phone is set to have a 5000 mAh Li-ion polymer battery (technically 4880 mAh). It’s also expected to come with Realme UI 5.0, which is probably based on Android 14.

Besides the BIS and FCC, the Realme 12+ has received certifications from other global authorities including MIIT, TDRA, NBTC, SIRIM, and SDPPI.

As previously announced, the Realme 12 Pro, and 12 Pro+ are scheduled to launch on January 29, 2024. With the non-pro models’ BIS certification and leaked specs, it’s reasonable to expect their launch to follow shortly after.
