Realme 12+ 5G & 12 Pro+ 5G devices scheduled to launch on February 29 in Malaysia

Realme is set to launch its Realme 12 Pro+ 5G and Realme 12+ 5G smartphones in Malaysia on 29th February 2024, with pre-orders starting from 16th February at a starting price of RM 12 (~Rs 200). This announcement follows the brand’s successful sale of 150,000 units of its Realme 12 Pro series earlier in the year.

The Realme 12+ 5G will feature a 120 Hz AMOLED display for smooth visuals, powered by a Dimensity 7050 5G chipset for efficient performance. It will include a LYT-600 OIS portrait camera, an 8MP ultrawide, and a 2MP macro sensor for versatile photography, along with a 16MP front camera for selfies. Running on Android 14-based Realme UI 5.0, the device ensures a user-friendly experience and is equipped with a 5000 mAh battery supporting 67W SUPERVOOC charging for quick power-ups. It will be available in Pioneer Green and Navigator Beige.

The Realme 12 Pro+ features a 6.7-inch AMOLED display with FHD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. For security, it incorporates an under-display fingerprint sensor and runs on Realme UI 5 based on Android 14. The device is guaranteed to receive two Android OS upgrades and three years of security updates.

Under the hood, the Realme 12 Pro+ houses the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 chip, LPDDR4x RAM, UFS 3.1 storage, and a 5,000mAh battery with 67W fast charging. For selfies, it has a 32-megapixel front-facing camera, while the back panel boasts a 50-megapixel Sony IMX890 main camera with OIS support, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide lens, and an OIS-assisted 64-megapixel periscope telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom.

Realme is said to be working on the Realme 12+ 5G for global and Chinese markets. Reports have revealed that the Realme phone bearing the RMX3866 model number will be called the Realme 12+ 5G when it debuts globally. A similar model number Realme phone having the RMX3866 model code that has appeared in Chinese certification platforms like 3C and TENAA recently is believed to be the Chinese variant of the Realme 12+ 5G. In a new development, the Realme 12+ 5G’s global version has appeared on Geekbench benchmarking platform. As usual, the listing has revealed the chipset, RAM, and Android version of the device.

As per the Geekbench listing, the Realme 12+ 5G will feature the MT6877V/TTZA model number. The CPU and GPU details of the chip suggest that the device could be equipped with the Dimensity 7050 chipset. The listing further reveals 12 GB of RAM and Android 14 OS, which is likely to have the Realme UI 5 skin on top. In the single-core and multi-core tests, the device scored 958 and 2346 points, respectively.

It is speculated that the Chinese variant of the Realme 12+ 5G may launch along with the Realme 12 Pro and 12 Pro+ later this month in China. The Pro models have already launched in the global market. Hence, it is likely that the 12+ may break cover in March for markets outside of China. Here is a look at the rumored specs of the device.

As per the TENAA certification, the purported Realme 12+ 5G will feature a 6.67-inch AMOLED display with FHD+ resolution and possibly a 120Hz refresh rate. Under the hood, it may feature a 2.6GHz octa-core processor and a 5,000mAh battery with 67W fast charging. In China, the device may arrive with up to 16 GB of RAM and up to 1 TB of storage.

The Realme 12+ 5G is expected to feature a 16-megapixel front camera and a 50-megapixel + 8-megapixel + 2-megapixel triple camera unit. For security, it may feature an in-screen fingerprint scanner. The device will measure 162.95 x 75.45 x 7.87 mm and weigh 190 grams.

Realme 12+ gets certified in the UAE, launch seems near

The Realme 12 Pro series is set to launch in the Indian market later this month. But recent reports have hinted that the numbered series will also include non-pro models as well. Now, the Realme 12+ model was sighted in a certification listing in the UAE, which hints at its imminent release.

Realme 12+ surfaces on TDRA

The Chinese brand’s Realme 12+ was spotted in the TDRA database, which is a certification platform in the UAE. The smartphone was found carrying the RMX3867 model number. This is in line with our previous sighting. To recall, the Realme 12+ 5G model was certified in Thailand on the NBTC platform last week. Similarly, the device even bagged multiple other certifications earlier this month.

These platforms include SIRIM, TKDN, SDPPI, FCC, and even CameraV5. Notably, a Realme smartphone model carrying the RMX3866 model number was approved by China’s 3C certification. This listing revealed the supprot for 67W wired fast charging. Based on the similarities of the model number, this version could be the China exclusive variant of the Realme 12+. All of these sightings basically point at the launch of the device being right around the corner.

Based on the previous FCC listing, the Realme 12+ will run on the Android 14 OS based Realme UI 5 custom skin out of the box. It supports 5G networking along with dual SIM and NFC support. A large 5,000mAh battery pack is expected to power this device, with its power adapter having the VCB7CAAH model number. Pictures shared FCC showcase a device with a triple camera setup on the back. The Realme 12+ 5G is gradually receiving approval from different certification platforms. A fresh development reveals that it has been approved by Thailand’s NBTC regulatory body. While the Realme 12 Pro series is set to launch globally on Jan. 29, it appears that the Realme 12+ 5G’s launch could also be around the corner.

The Realme 12+ 5G’s NBTC certification shows that its model number is RMX3867. Earlier this week, the same device was certified by Malaysia’s SIRIM regulatory platform. In the recent past, the device has also been approved by the Indonesian TKDN and SDPPI bodies, the FCC, and TUV Rheinland. In addition, it is speculated that the RMX3867 phone, which was spotted in China’s 3C database recently, could be the Chinese variant of the Realme 12+ 5G.

Reports have so far revealed that the Realme 12+ 5G will have a 16-megapixel camera on the front. The back panel of the device may feature a 64-megapixel primary camera and an 8-megapixel auxiliary lens. It may pack a 5,000mAh battery with 67W fast charging.

The Realme 12+ 5G may run on Realme UI 5-based Android 14. In addition, it is expected to have support for NFC connectivity. The other details of the device are yet to be revealed.

In related news, the Realme 12 Pro+ was recently spotted with the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 chipset and 12 GB of RAM on Geekbench. It is speculated that Realme has opted for the Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 to power the Pro model. Both devices are expected to feature a 6.7-inch FHD+ 120Hz AMOLED display and a 5,000mAh battery with 67W fast charging. The 12 Pro will have a 16-megapixel front camera and a 50-megapixel (IMX890, with OIS) + 8-megapixel (ultra-wide) + 32-megapixel (telephoto) triple camera unit on the back.
