Earlier this week, the Realme 12 Pro and Realme 12 Pro+ were unveiled in the Indian market. The new smartphones’ first open sale is set to kick off on 6th February 2024, however, the early access sale was already live. Now, the company has announced that the Realme 12 Pro series has set the fastest sales record for its price segment in the region.

Realme 12 Pro series breaks fastest sales record in India

To recall, the pre-orders for the new devices went live soon after their announcement offering benefits of up to Rs 5,999. In a tweet, the Chinese smartphone maker confirmed that the latest handsets were quite popular as they broke sales records in India. The Realme 12 Pro series managed to achieve the fastest sales record in the Rs 30,000+ price segment during its early access sale period.

Unfortunately, no official sales numbers were revealed on X (formerly Twitter). Although, it manages to retain the same momentum as the Realme 11 Pro 5G, which also set a new record for the highest first sales in the Rs 20,000 to Rs 30,000 price range in the past. For those unaware, the Realme 12 Pro and Realme 12 Pro+ models sport a tall 6.7-inch OLED display with FHD+ resolution, 2160Hz PWM dimming, and a 120Hz refresh rate.

Under the hood, the former is equipped with the Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 SoC while the latter has a Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 SoC. A large 5,000mAh battery pack powers both devices, which supports 67W fast charging. These models also run on the Android 14 OS based Realme UI 5.0 custom skin out of the box.

Realme 12 Pro Series to offer 120x Super Zoom feature

The Chinese smartphone maker shared the new teaser on its official X handle (formerly Twitter). A short video teaser was also shared that showcases the Zoom functionality. As per the teaser, the Realme 12 Pro series will support 120x Super Zoom, which likely blends optical and digital magnification. The teaser states that the device will enable users to capture images of subjects that are very far away.

To recall, the lineup consists of the Realme 12 Pro and Realme 12 Pro+ models. Although, recent rumors have also hinted at a Realme 12 Pro Max model as well. The brand is set to announce the device on 29th January 2024, with availability for the entire series confirmed on Flipkart. Realme previously revealed that the DSLR grade camera offers an 80mm focal length for 3x optical zoom, 6x in-sensor zoom, and 120x super zoom.

Based on what we know so far, the Realme 12 Pro series features a Sony IMX890 as its primary sensor with OIS support (Optical Image Stabilization), along with an OV64B periscope telephoto shooter. A third model is also set to be unveiled, which will be dubbed the Realme 12 Pro Max. This could be the lineup’s top end model, so let’s have a look.

Realme 12 Pro Max Tipped

According to known tipster Yogesh Brar, the Chinese smartphone maker is working on a new Realme 12 Pro Max 5G model. As the name suggests, it is a part of the upcoming 12 series in India, which are set to release in the country on 29th January 2024. In the tweet, Brar shared an image that reveals the marketing material of the 12 Pro Max model, revealing key details like pricing, specs, and more.

The Realme 12 Pro Max is listed to launch with two storage configurations, namely 8GB + 256GB and 12GB + 256GB variants. Pricing for these models was also listed on the leaked marketing material. The 8GB variant has a 33,999 INR (roughly 409 US Dollars) price tag, while the 12GB version could cost 35,999 INR (roughly 433 US Dollars).

If this is true, then it is the top end smartphone in the new Realme 12 lineup. The Realme 12 Pro Max will run on the Android 14 OS based Realme UI 5.0 custom skin and sports a tall 120Hz Curved Vision Display. Meanwhile, the rear packs a 50-megapixel Sony IMX890 primary camera that supports OIS (Optical Image Stabilization) and a 64-megapixel OIS periscope portrait camera. Realme officially announced the global launch date for the Realme 12 Pro series earlier today (15th January 2024). Now, the company has also revealed the date for the Indian release of the highly anticipated smartphones. So here are all the details.

Realme 12 Pro Series India Launch Date

The Chinese smartphone maker took to X (formerly Twitter) to share an official teaser. This official image poster confirms that the Realme 12 Pro series will debut in the region on 29th January 2024. The launch is set for 12 PM IST and coincides with the smartphones’ global release as well. As of right now, the microsite on Realme’s official Indian website has gone live. The devices will also be available for purchase via Flipkart.

To recall, the Realme 12 Pro is expected to be equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 SoC and the Realme 12 Pro+ may offer Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 chipset. The series is also confirmed to arrive in a Submarine blue color variant. The smartphones are expected to house a large 5,000mAh battery pack that could offer 67W fast charging. In a recent teaser, the company revealed that the smartphone will feature an OV64B periscope telephoto shooter along with a Sony IMX890 sensor that offers OIS support.

On the front, both models will sport a tall 6.7-inch curved AMOLED display that offers Full HD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. Realme is gearing up to make an announcement in India tomorrow at 7:30 am local time. The brand is highly expected to reveal the launch date of the Realme 12 Pro series smartphones in the country. The Pro and Pro+ variants in the lineup have already bagged BIS certification. Now a new leak reveals information about the Realme 12 Pro series shared by tipster Ishan Agarwal.

Realme 12 Pro+ key details leaked

As per the report, the Realme 12 Pro+ will be powered by a Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 processor. This same chipset is found on the Redmi Note 13 Pro which is set to launch in India on January 4. The Realme 12 series will reportedly feature a circular camera module housing three sensors. The Pro+ variant will come with a 64MP OmniVision OV64B periscope telephoto unit with 3x optical zoom. On the other hand, the Pro is said to come with a 32MP Sony IMX709 telephoto unit. This model will be equipped with a Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 SoC. 

The Realme 12 Pro Series is rumored to launch in India by the end of this month or in February. It will arrive as the successor to last year’s Realme 11 Pro series. The Realme 12 Pro series is yet to launch in China. Last November, the brand confirmed that one of its upcoming number series devices will feature a periscope zoom lens. Realme India also recently teased something along the lines of a periscope camera and flagship smartphone. The Realme GT 5 Pro debuted last month in China with flagship specifications. 

It’s likely that Realme will officially reveal those mysterious details tomorrow.
