Realme has launched the realme 8, realme 8 Pro smartphones. Out of this, the ‘Pro’ variant features a 108MP camera while the non-Pro realme 8 finally gets an AMOLED display. Let’s take a look at the specs, features, and price of the devices.

Realme 8, 8 Pro Price, Availability

The realme 8, 8 Pro comes in a single 128GB storage option each. However, the variants differ in the RAM options. You can take a look at the price below:

The first sale of the realme 8, 8 Pro starts March 25 at 12 PM IST in India and will be available on Flipkart, realme.com, and stores across the country. In Europe, the realme 8 Pro is priced at  €299 (€20 off on pre-orders till March 30) for the 8GB/128GB variant and the sale starts on March 31.

Realme 8 Pro Specifications and Features

The realme 8 Pro has an AG glass on the back which has a matte finish. The device is 8.1mm thick and weighs 172 grams. It comes in standard colors- Infinite Blue, Punk Black(only for Europe), and Infinite Black. Additionally, there is a special Illuminating yellow that has fluorescent materials on the back which glows in dark situations for India.

The device features a 6.4-inch sAMOLED Samsung screen. This display supports a FHD+ resolution, 180Hz touch sampling rate, sunlight mode up to 1000 nits brightness, DC light dimming, Eye protection. Under the hood, it has Snapdragon 720G 4G chipset paired with up to 8GB RAM, 128GB storage.

For cameras, the device has a 108MP Samsung ISOCELL HM2 sensor capable of 9-in-1 pixel binning. This sensor has a 1/1.52-inch size. Other than this, the square camera layout has other sensors like 8MP ultrawide and a pair of 2MP sensors. Upfront, it has a 16MP front camera for selfies.

Camera features include Super Nightscape, In-sensor Zoom (3x zoom), 2nd-gen starry mode(astrophotography) with time-lapse video support, Tilt-shift mode(Photo & time-lapse video support), dynamic bokeh mode, dual-video, cinematic portrait. 

The front sensor also supports Ai-beauty, portrait, nightscape for selfies.

Other features include a 4,500mAh battery with 50W SuperDart charging, in-display fingerprint sensor, realme UI 2.0 based on Android 11 out of the box, Dual-SIM 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, GNSS, 3.5mm audio jack, Type-C port, Hi-Res Audio support.

Realme 8 Specifications and Features

Realme 8 features a digital design and is built on a split design and splicing process. It comes in two variants- Cyber Silver, and Cyber black. It is 7.99mm thick and weighs 177 grams. Just like the Pro, the realme also has a 6.4-inch sAMOLED FHD+ display, with a 180Hz touch sampling rate, 1000 nits peak brightness.

Under the hood, it has a MediaTek Helio G95 chipset paired with up to 8GB RAM, 128GB storage. It also has a copper liquid cooling technology for controlling thermals.

For the quad-camera, we have a 64MP primary sensor, 8MP ultrawide with 119-degree FOV, and a pair of 2MP sensors(4cm macro and monochrome).  Upfront, we have the same 16MP selfie shooter.

The camera features include AI, selfie, & Neon portrait, dynamic bokeh, dual-video, UIS max video stabilization, cinema mode, tilt-shift mode, and more.

Other features include an in-display fingerprint sensor, a 5,000mAh battery with 30W Dart Charging, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 3.5mm jack, Type-C port, realme UI 2.0 based on Android 11.

realme is bringing the realme 8 series on March 24. However, the unboxing videos of the realme 8 Pro is out several days before the launch. Let’s take a look at the in-box contents, and features of the realme 8 Pro.

Right off the bat, we see two color variants of realme 8 Pro being sent out to different reviewers. They are Infinite Black and Infinite Blue. Apart from this, the device is also said to get an Illuminating Yellow color that glows in the dark.

As you can see from the pictures above, realme does include the TPU case and a charger inside the box. This is a welcoming change considering the situation is changing nowadays and the response isn’t good for such a trend.

realme 8 Pro Design

Anyway, the realme 8 Pro also comes with a dedicated micro-SD card slot, 3.5mm audio jack, and a pre-installed screen protector.

On the right, we have power and volume buttons, SIM & micro-SD card tray to the left, Type-C and Speakers along with primary mic & 3.5mm audio jack to the bottom, and a secondary mic up top.

The rear has a big ‘DARE TO LEAP’ logo, square-shaped quad cameras and a realme branding at the bottom left. The black version has a textured finish and as per the video, the realme 8 Pro has a plastic back panel. Upfront, we have an AMOLED display with a single punch-hole to the top left.

realme has already confirmed that the device will feature a  quad-camera setup with a 108MP camera. Apart from this, the device will boot in realme UI 2.0 based on Android 11. It will also feature an in-display fingerprint sensor.

The realme UI 2.0 is said to include features like motion gestures, global theme customizations, improved dark mode & always-on display, third-party launcher support, deep-sea privacy, and more. You can check the video to see camera samples of the 108MP sensor.

We will know the other features of the realme 8 Pro as we approach the launch date.

It is also confirmed that Realme has got the Realme 8 and 8 Pro smartphones in the works. The company already shared a couple of teasers which gave us an idea of what to expect on the Realme 7 series successor. The Realme 8 Pro has now appeared on FCC’s website to shed more light on the device.

According to the FCC listing, the Realme 8 Pro 4G, listed as Realme RMX3081, will arrive with a 4500mAh battery as well as 65W fast charging suppport. Earlier on, Realme CEO Madhav Sheth had hinted that the vanilla Realme 8 will pack a bigger 5000mAh battery with 30W Dart Charge. Although the 8 Pro has a smaller battery, it features faster charging which will ensure you don’t stay out of juice for too long.

The 65W charging support shown on the FCC document is consistent with the specs for the company’s SuperDart chargers. Again, the battery configuration is similar to that of last year’s Realme 7 Pro. If we should rely on that, then the device will charge from zero to full charge in just 34 minutes while just 10 minutes charging will deliver up to 43% battery capacity.

Realme recently coonfirmed the camera specification of the Reame 8 Pro 4G and the main highlight is the 108MP Samsung HM2 1/1.52″ primary sensor from last year which will be onboard. The sensor will have support for 9-in-1 pixel binning and ISOCELL Plus. The camera is positioned to output superb images that have well-balanced overall exposure with vivid colors and sharp details in both bright and dark conditions thanks to a new Smart-ISO feature.

The smartphone is also expected to run Realme UI 2.0 out of the box which is based on Android 11 OS. It is also rumoured that the 8 Pro 4G will be powered by a Snapdragon 730G.

We still don’ know when Realme will officially unveil the 8-seires. However, we expect an announcement to that effect soon.

Realme today held the 2021 Realme Camera Innovation event and one of the big news released during the event is that the Realme 8 Pro will debut with a 108MP Samsung HM2 1/1.52″ primary sensor from last year. The sensor will have support for 9-in-1 pixel binning and ISOCELL Plus. The camera is positioned to output superb images that have well-balanced overall exposure with vivid colors and sharp details in both bright and dark conditions thanks to a new Smart-ISO feature.

The company also disclosed that the Realme 8 Pro’s camera will come with an In-sensor Zoom activated by the 3x mode. This feature can only use the 12MP sensor mapped with the zoomed part to generate an image. The camera will also bring a faster imaging process as a result of the smaller size of the 12MP photo. This will enable the device to capture eight 12MP photos in a row. The eight photos will then be inputted into the clarity enhancement algorithm which will then result in an increase in image clarity.

Realme also touts the Realme 8 Pro camera to arrive as the world’s first to bring Starry Time-lapse Video and tilt-shift time-lapse video on its smartphone. Starry time-lapse videos are achieved by shooting multiple clips via professional cameras and then synthesizing and combining these clips by a computer through video editing software.

Realme says it takes 480 seconds or 4 minutes to shoot 30 photos and then to generate one starry photo or a 30 fps time-lapse video. This means the time-lapse mode can show the perpetual changing universes at 480 times faster speed.

On the other hand, tilt-shift photography is achieved with the help of expensive tilt-shift lenses, which makes only a part of the photo appear clear and keeps all other parts out of focus to create a sense of a miniature world. The realme 8 series will be capable of capturing tilt-shift photos as well as 10x faster tilt-shift time-lapse videos with the help of realme’s new tilt-shift photography algorithm.

Finally, Realme tips the 8 series to arrive with three iconic filters – Neon Portrait, Dynamic Bokeh Portrait, and AI Color Portrait.

The company is yet to announce the launch date but the Realme 8 series should arrive in India either later this month or early next month.
