Under the hood, Qualcomm Snapdragon 778 SoC powers the device. For photography, you can find a 64 megapixel triple camera setup with an 8 megapixel ultra wide angle lens and 2 megapixel macro sensor. The front features a 32 megapixel selfie shooter.

The new wearable comes with plenty of improvements and new features, including improved software and features thought to provide a better user experience. But in 2020 the Mi Band 5 has a lot of rivals from other smartphone manufacturers. Since smart bands are currently a very important niche of the hi-tech world, we chose two of the most valid ones for a specs comparison with the new Mi Band 5. We are referring to the Honor Band 5 and the Realme Band, both among the cheapest and most functional fitness tracker you can find out there.

Design and display

When it comes to the design, it is all a matter of taste. I personally prefer the Xiaomi Mi Band 5 due to its curved shape making it more attractive, in my honest opinion. But some may prefer the Realme Band because it is more similar to a bracelet since its display looks like an extension of the strap. Mi Band 5, Honor Band 5, and Realme Band are waterproof smart bands, but Realme Band is less waterproof than its rivals.

With the Realme Band, you can go up to 1.5 meters deep without damages (and it is enough for people who want to use it in the swimming pool), while Xiaomi Mi Band 5 and Honor Band 5 can go up to 50 meters deep. Xiaomi Mi Band 5 is very elegant, but Honor Band 5 and Realme Band are more compact. Mi Band 5 is bigger because it has a wider display with a 1.1-inch diagonal. And it is also the most attractive panel due to its quality and very interesting software features allowing the users to use all of its potentialities.

Software and features

Xiaomi Mi Band 5 has the highest number of sports modes: it can monitor up to 11 different activities. On the other hand, Honor Band 5 offers 10 sports modes, but unlike the Mi Band 5, it sports a SpO2 sensor to monitor the oxygen level in the blood. Realme Band does not feature a SpO2 sensor as well. Mi Band 5 has a very accurate PPG sensor: unfortunately, we still did not test it, but we believe it is likely the most accurate since Xiaomi says it offers 50% more accuracy compared to the Mi Band 4.

The Mi Band 5 also supports animated watch face and third-party designs, which you can not get on its two opponents. Besides the SpO2 sensor (Honor Band 5 only), on these smart bands, you can find an accelerometer, a heart rate monitor, a barometer, and a gyroscope. There are variants of the Mi Band 5 and Honor Band 5 with NFC connectivity, while you do not get it with the Realme Band.

Battery

Despite they provide more features, Xiaomi Mi Band 5 and Honor Band 5 offer a longer battery life than Realme Band: up to 14 days on a single charge. Realme Band has a 9 days battery life, but it offers an important advantage: it does not need an external charger since it includes a USB-A connector which can be directly plugged to a USB-A port. On the other hand, Mi Band 5 supports magnetic charging thanks to a pin placed on the rear side: you do not even need to remove the wearable from its strap in order to charge it. But it needs a custom charger (included in the box, naturally).

Price

Xiaomi Mi Band 5 is priced $26 in the base variant without NFC and $30 in its NFC version. It just launched in the Chinese market, in which it will be available to purchase starting from June 18. We still do not know what will be the price of the Mi Band 5 for the global market. Honor Band 5 has a listing price of $28, while Realme Band is priced just €12. Unless you need the SpO2 sensor, we recommend the Xiaomi Mi Band 5. But if you want to save money and you only need essential features, Realme Band is enough since it has accurate measurements and it does not lack common features.

It comes with all the features you would expect from a smart band in 2020, yet it carries a very affordable price.

Design and display

OPPO Band comes in two versions differing from each other for their design: a Sport version which comes with a more classic look including a TPU strap, and a Fashion version with an elegant metal ring. The fashion version looks definitely gorgeous and it is my favorite one if we talk about the looks. The smart band also comes with a 2.5D curved front glass making it even more elegant. The OPPO Band is definitely the most elegant smart band of this trio, but you will find more third-party straps for the Xiaomi Mi Band 4.

Realme Band has a totally different look: it is very sportive and targeted at young people. OPPO Band is also equipped with the most advanced display. Not only it has a wider 1.1-inch panel and the AMOLED technology, but it also offers full DCI-P3 coverage. Right after, we got the OLED display of the Xiaomi Mi Band 4. OPPO Band and Xiaomi Mi Band 4 are waterproof up to 5 atm (50m), while Realme Band is waterproof up to 1.5 mm. You can use all of them while swimming.

Software and features

OPPO Band is the winner even when it comes to the features, at least on the paper. Indeed, it is the only with a SpO2 sensor that can monitor the oxygen level in the blood. It can make one measurement per second for 8 hours before going out of charge. The OPPO Band also supports more sports modes: up to 12, including swimming and a long-distance running mode to burn more calories with less fatigue.

The smart band can even alert the user once it detects heart rate irregularities and sleep problems related to blood oxygen. There is also an NFC version of the OPPO Band with the support of mobile payments through AliPay. Xiaomi Mi Band 4 has a very accurate heart rate sensor and optional NFC, but it lacks a SpO2 sensor and it supports less sport modes. Realme Band 5 supports up to 9 sport modes, but it lacks NFC and a SpO2 sensor as well. Note that while OPPO Band and Realme Band are richer in terms of activity tracking inside their own software, Xiaomi Mi Band 4 supports a more convincing companion app (Xiaomi Mi Fit).

Battery

Xiaomi Mi Band 4 has the longest battery life: it lasts up to 20 days on a single charge. The silver medal goes to the OPPO Band with 14 days, while Realme Band lasts just 9 days at max. OPPO Band and Xiaomi Mi Band 4 can be charged through a custom charger, while Realme Band does not need a charge: if you remove the strap, you can find a USB-A connector which can be plugged directly to the USB-A port of your PC, smartphone chargers, and more.

Price

OPPO Band went on sale in China with a price tag of $28/€25 in the standard sport version, $35/€31 in the Fashion version. You can actually find the Xiaomi Mi Band 4 at a similar price, while Realme Band is priced about €12. The OPPO Band wins this specs comparison because it comes with more features, awesome design, and a better display. The Realme Band takes the last place, but it costs half of the price of its two rivals. However, we believe it is better to spend something more to get something better unless you do not care about the additional features offered by the OPPO Band and the Xiaomi Mi Band 4. What would your personal choice be? You can let us know by using the comment box below this post.

The firmware v6.0 for Realme Band finally adds ‘Find Phone’, ‘Restart’ and ‘Weather’ functionalities. These three features are common on all wearables and should have been present on Realme Band since its launch. Better late than never, they are here now, however, it is a nightmare to use them

After the installation of the new firmware, the Realme Link app will allow users to enable weather on the Realme Band. Once it is set up, users will have to tap ‘seven times’ on the tracker’s capacitive button to access current weather and tap ‘two more times’ to see the report for the next two days. This is ridiculous and it is why wearables with touch input are better in terms of user experience.

Another nitpick is though the latest update brings restart option to the Realme Band, it works only when the tracker is charging (seriously?). Anyway, the update also brings improvements in UI, heart rate monitoring, data synchronization, and message display time.

Black Shark 3 3C certifications

As it can be seen in the screenshot, both KLE-A0 and MBU-A0 are 5G-ready devices. Both phones are equipped with MDY-11-EF/EB charger that supports 65W rapid charging. No other information has surfaced through the 3C listing of the KLE-A0 and MBU-A0 Black Shark 3 phones. Previously, the MBU-A0 phones was spotted at the MIIT certification body of China.

Black Shark 3 Pro Geekbench

The Geekbench 5 listing of the MBU-A0 smartphone reveals that it scored 901 points in the single-core test and 3,015 points in the multi-core test. The Android 10 OS comes preloaded on the device. The name mobius mentioned in the Geekbench listing in the motherboard field could be the codename of the smartphone. Speaking of codename, it is believed the KLE-A0B Black Shark 3 is codenamed as Klein. Coming back to MBU-A0, the phone is fueled by a Qualcomm chipset that has a base frequency of 1.80GHz. It seems to be the Snapdragon 865 mobile platform. The SoC is coupled with 8 GB of RAM.
