I spent a good amount of time with the Realme Buds Air 7 Pro, and I must say, these earbuds surprised me for their price point of Rs 5,499. They bring a few premium touches and features that you usually don’t expect in this range, and after daily use, here’s what I experienced across design, sound, battery, and more.

Design and build

Right out of the box, the first thing that caught my attention was the charging case. Unlike the usual plastic cases you find with most earbuds in this segment, this one has an all-aluminium body. It feels solid and has a nice weight to it, which immediately gives me a premium vibe. This one does not have a pressable button that allows users to manually put the device into pairing mode.

The Glory Beige color I got is quite striking, with a leather-textured finish that makes it feel like a well-thought-out accessory, not just a functional case. It also comes in three other options: Fiery Red, Metallic Grey, and Racing Green.

The earbuds themselves are light and fit snugly in my ears without causing discomfort, even after a few hours. The IP55 rating means I didn’t have to worry much about sweat during workouts or sudden drizzles while commuting. Overall, the build felt sturdy and well-made, definitely above what I expected for this price.

Audio and call quality

Sound-wise, the Buds Air 7 Pro delivered a really balanced performance. Many mid-range earbuds tend to either overdo the bass or lose clarity in the highs, but these managed to keep all frequencies clear and distinct. The dual drivers—an 11mm woofer and 6mm tweeter—made a noticeable difference. The highs were crisp without sounding sharp, mids were full and clear, and the bass hit nicely without overpowering the rest of the sound spectrum.

I tested them with a mix of genres — from pop and rock to podcasts — and the experience was consistently good. The LHDC 5.0 support and Hi-Res certification also felt justified once I paired them with a compatible phone. The 3D Spatial Audio added a bit of immersive depth, especially while watching videos, which was a nice bonus.

Active noise cancellation was something I really wanted to test, given its promise of up to 53dB reduction. In my daily use, it did a solid job of cutting out background noise like office chatter, fans, and street sounds during my commute. It’s not quite as effective as high-end ANC earbuds, but it’s definitely a noticeable improvement over having ANC turned off. Calls were clear on both ends thanks to the six-mic system, with little to no complaints from the people I spoke to.

Connectivity and battery life

Pairing was quick and stable thanks to Bluetooth 5.4. I appreciated being able to switch seamlessly between my phone and laptop without any annoying dropouts. Dual-device connection worked smoothly, which requires activating this feature using the Realme Link app.

Battery life turned out to be practical. I easily got around 5-6 hours on a single charge, and the charging case extended this to nearly two full days of typical use. The quick charge feature came in handy more than once — a 10-minute top-up gave me enough juice for about 11 hours, which was perfect when I was rushing out.

Controls and AI features

Using the Realme Link app made interacting with the earbuds really smooth — I could customize touch controls, adjust sound profiles, and tweak ANC levels with ease. The touch controls themselves felt intuitive, so managing music, calls, and volume didn’t require any learning curve.

The AI Live Translator and Face-to-Face Translator features were interesting to explore. With the Face-to-Face Translator, once I picked my desired language from the 34 available options — including Hindi, Korean, English and more — it worked well, allowing me to converse smoothly in real time. It picked up voices clearly and synced translations quickly, which would be useful during travel or when meeting people from different cultures.

The AI Live Translator, on the other hand, still feels like it needs some fine-tuning. For example, I read out the first paragraph of this review using the Live Translator feature, and it took nearly two minutes to process what I said. The only thing it got wrong was the name of the earbuds, probably because of how I pronounce things, but the rest of the translation was spot-on. When it eventually generated the content in Hindi, it was perfectly accurate, which was impressive.

These features are available through the Realme Link app and only show up after updating the app to the latest version, so make sure you’re on the newest build if you want to try them out. Alongside these, the low-latency mode for gaming and the Swift Pair feature with Windows laptops also worked seamlessly, rounding out a really smart set of features that go beyond just audio.

Final thoughts

After using the Realme Buds Air 7 Pro for a week, I feel they offer great value for Rs 5,499. The solid build, comfortable fit, balanced sound, and effective noise cancellation make them an easy recommendation for anyone who wants quality earbuds without burning a hole in their wallet.

They’re not perfect—if you’re an audiophile or want flagship-level ANC, you might find them a bit limited—but for everyday listening, calls, and casual gaming, they deliver well beyond expectations. For me, these earbuds have become my daily go-to, and I’m impressed by how Realme managed to pack so much into this affordable package.
