Oppo and Realme could be gearing up to launch new truly wireless earbuds soon. A fresh certification sighting has revealed that both brands are working on new wireless earbuds, which could be the Realme Buds Air 7 Pro and Oppo Enco Buds 3 Pro. So here’s what we know.

Realme Buds Air 7 Pro & Oppo Enco Buds 3 Pro Visit Bluetooth SIG

The two Chinese brands are apparently planning on launching the Realme Buds Air 7 Pro and Oppo Enco Buds 3 Pro TWS earbuds soon, as both models surfaced on the Bluetooth SIG certification (Via MySmartPrice). The Realme Buds Air 7 Pro has been spotted with the RMX2407 model number, while the Oppo Enco Buds 3 Pro was seen carrying the ETEK1 model number.

Unfortunately, this database does not reveal any finer details like the specifications, features, or design. But it does confirm that both TWS earbuds would likely launch soon. Since both companies are planning on launching new smartphones in the coming weeks, we can expect these truly wireless earbuds to be announced alongside these devices. For those unaware, the base Realme 14 model is also in the works, with the Realme P3x set to launch tomorrow.

But these earbuds are unlikely to debut so early and could be arriving for a smartphone like the Realme GT 7T. In related news, the Oppo Find N5 is launching soon with new teasers showcasing some key features. TWS earbuds are the new craze this year and it looks like brands won’t be happy with just one or two earbuds models in the market this year. Realme already has three TWS earbuds to its name but it seems to be working on a new model with an Airpods Pro-like design. The brand has patented three designs: two earbuds cases and one design for earbuds at the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).

The recently patented Realme earbuds design (first spotted by 91Mobiles) is interesting because it seems to be inspired by the Airpods Pro. So it features a similar in-ear design along with a long stem as the Apple earbuds. The other two patents are for the charging cases, one with a round design and another one with a flatter, oval design. Both the patented cases featured an LED indicator, USB-C port for charging, and a button – likely for pairing.

Realme’s current earbuds, the Realme Buds Air and Buds Air Neo feature an open design, but the Realme Buds Q that was launched last week comes with an in-ear design, similar to the Galaxy Buds. So it looks like the company wants to experiment with the in-ear design on a new model in the future.

As always, we would like to add that this is just a patent and it remains to be seen if this design would translate into a real product in the coming months.

In an official apology letter, which was released on February 11th, Realme said consumers making the final payment on February 14th will be first in line to receive Buds Air yellow version. The Shenzhen-based company is expected to resume normal production as soon as it can while ensuring the utmost protection of its employees and consumers against the coronavirus outbreak.

The true wireless earbuds market has grown quite significantly this year. Most smartphone manufacturers have announced at least one TWS earbuds in 2019 and a lot more are coming our way in the next few months. Realme also joined this party a few days back and the company is targeting the affordable segment of the market with its Realme Buds Air, which is priced competitively at Rs. 3999 (~$56). Like a lot of TWS earbuds, the Realme Buds Air takes its inspiration from the best selling Apple AirPods series. Today, we take a quick look at how closely the Buds Air resemble the AirPods 2.

I would like to start this article by saying that the Realme Buds Air is no way an AirPods clone. While it definitely takes its inspiration from the best in the industry, there are a lot of differences to set it apart from the AirPods 2. The earbuds come in three different colors which include white, black, and yellow. We’ve got the white one for review, which is the ideal color for this comparison.

Realme Buds Air vs Apple AirPods 2: Earbuds

Like every other TWS earbuds in the market, the Realme Buds Air package consists of two parts – the two earbuds (L & R) and the charging case. The earbuds come very close to mimicking the AirPods’ design but it’s not an exact clone.

The Realme Buds Air feature relatively round and large heads in comparison to the slightly smaller, oval shape of the AirPods. So despite having a similar sensor layout as the AirPods, it’s very easy to distinguish between the two based on the shapes alone. Another big differentiator for the Buds Air is the absence of the mesh at the back.

While both the earbuds feature a similarly sized stem, they have significantly different charging connectors. The AirPods feature a metal round connector at the bottom of the earbuds while the Realme Buds Air feature an open design with two connector pins at the bottom. The microphones are located at the back of the stem on both the models.

Realme Buds Air vs Apple AirPods 2: Charging Case

When it comes to the charging case, the similarities between the two earbuds end. The Realme Buds Air comes with a much more compact and rounder charging case. When you keep the two cases side by side, you can see that the AirPods 2 case is slightly longer and thinner than the Realme one. To be honest, the AirPods case looks a bit more refined than what Realme offers but that’s expected given the huge price difference.

The Realme Buds Air charging case features a pairing button on the front with an LED light. On the other hand, the AirPods 2 case features the button at the back with the text: Designed by Apple California. Similarly, the Realme case features the text: Designed by Realme on its back. But I wish Realme had implemented a better design for opening the case. The back design looks pretty cheap.

You can charge the Realme case with a USB-C port at the bottom, while the AirPods 2 case takes in a lightning connector.

While there are some similarities between the Realme Buds Air and the AirPods 2, the former can really stand up on its own as competitive TWS earbuds in its price segment (Rs. 3999 on Flipkart). We have been testing them for the past few days and our first impressions have been quite positive. Wait for our full review of the Realme Buds Air in the next couple of days.

This is the company’s first TWS earbuds in the market and we have managed to get a unit for review.

The Realme Buds Air is inspired by the Apple AirPods and that’s not necessarily a bad thing. A lot of people prefer the open ear design of the AirPods and Realme decided to stick with what has worked in the market so far. After all, the AirPods is the best selling TWS earbuds in the world right now.

The Realme Buds Air comes in a shiny and plastic-y design but that ensures that both the case and the earbuds are very light. You get three color options for the earbuds: White, Black, and a Realme Yellow shade. The yellow one will definitely stand out. But we’ve got the standard White color option, which, unsurprisingly, could be mistaken for the AirPods at first glance.

The case is square-ish and comes with just one ‘pairing’ button and an LED light above it. The LED light switches between Red and Green. It glows Red in pairing mode and Green when paired. Also, when the case is low on battery, it will glow Red. You get a USB-C port below to charge it or you can use the new-age wireless charging (up to 10W) to juice it up.

Once you pop open the case, you’ll find the two Airpod-esque earbuds, each featuring an oval speaker grill and an IR sensor for wear detection. This might be a good time to add that the earbuds feature wear detection (just like AirPods and other earbuds), so when you take out the buds from your ear, it’ll stop playing and vice versa.

The Gaming Mode on Realme Buds Air further reduces the latency by 51 percent to achieve excellent sound and picture synchronization, says that company. It further adds that when compared to competitors, it beats them hands-down with a latency of 120ms only.

Realme adds that the Buds Air comes with Smart Wear Detection and built-in distance sensor that detects wearing and removal of the buds for truly wireless and seamless experience. It also supports smart touch controls such as double tap to play/pause, triple tap to skip track, a long press to wake up Google Assistant for voice operation, etc.

Coming to the battery life, the company claims to offer 3 hours of continuous playback and up to 17 hours with the charging case. Further, Realme adds that the Buds Air also supports wireless charging and the case is designed with an ergonomic shape, a single LED indicator and a Type-C port for wired charging.

The Realme Buds Air are offered in three color options — Yellow, White, and Black. It is priced at ₹3,999 in India, which roughly converts to $56 and will go on sale from today itself through Flipkart.

We are all set to meet the first-ever TWS earbuds from realme, the Buds Air on December 17, alongside the Realme X2 model. Now, less than a week before its official release, we have got the complete specs and price leak of the upcoming earbuds. According to our source, the realme Buds Air will come with 17 hours of battery life. This should be the total battery life of the earbuds when charged with its companion case. It will come with 12mm DBB (Dynamic Bass Boost), which is larger than 11.2mm DBB drivers found on the realme Buds Wireless neckband headphones. We can also confirm that the Buds Air will support AAC codec.

The realme Buds Air comes with wear detection, so it will know when you are wearing it in your ears. The TWS earbuds will feature Bluetooth 5.0 and will come with touch controls, low latency gaming mode, as well as wireless charging. Our source also revealed that the case will come with USB-Type C port and not microUSB.

The realme Buds Air will also feature Dual Mic ENC for calling, however, don’t confuse this with active noise cancellation tech like the ones found in the AirPods Pro. It’s likely to ensure that your audio quality is better during calls.

Finally, our source confirms that the reame Buds Air will indeed be priced at Rs. 4999 (~$71), which is the same figure revealed by a leaked Flipkart listing earlier this week. The earbuds will go on sale immediately after the December 17 launch event in India.

Yesterday we reported that Realme Buds Air could feature Wireless Charging. The news came from a close source with GSMArena, but today, CEO Madhav Sheth has officially confirmed that you can charge the case using wireless charging. We haven’t got any specifications of the earbuds but this feature should explain why the Realme Buds Air could be costlier than offerings like the Redmi Airdots.

A premature listing of the earbuds on Flipkart revealed that it could start at Rs. 4,999 (~$71) at launch. In comparison, earbuds from companies like Honor (Flypods 3) and Vivo start at more than $100.

Recent reports have revealed that the retail package of the Realme Buds air will contain the earbuds, USB-C charging cable and a user manual, with up to six months warranty. Expected features of the earbuds include support for built-in voice assistant and touch controls, 12mm Bass boost driver and Bluetooth 5.0.

The brand will announce the Snapdragon 730 powered Realme X2 (earlier called as Realme XT 730G) on December 17 alongside these new earbuds in India. This is the same Realme X2 model that was announced in China back in September. The phone got a special Avocado green color earlier this month.

Realme will be holding a launch event in India on Dec. 17. The event will be used to announce the Realme X2 phone in India. The Chinese manufacturer will be also announcing the Realme Buds Air true wireless earbuds at the same event. It will be rivaling with the likes of AirPods from Apple, Galaxy Buds from Samsung and FreeBuds from Huawei. Compared to its competitors, the Realme Buds Air is expected to arrive with a cheaper price tag. GSMArena has learnt from a very reliable source that the Buds Air will carry support for wireless charging.

The publication has claimed that the Realme Buds Air will come with wireless charging out of the box. In other words, users will not to invest in a separate case like AirPods. In the image shared by the publication, the Buds Air can be seen in Black color. The Chinese firm will be also selling the Buds Air in other color option such as White and Yellow.

As far as the pricing is concerned, a premature listing of Realme Buds Air on Flipkart retailer site had revealed a pricing of Rs. 4,999. The listing has been taken down. The publication has claimed that the Buds Air will be indeed will be priced under Rs. 5,000, but the exact pricing is under the wraps. It will be made available for purchase on the launch date.

Realme has confirmed it is making its way into the wireless earbuds market on December 17 with the Realme Buds Air. The price tag of the earbuds which will be available in yellow, black, and white, has now been revealed by Flipkart.

According to screenshots of a listing that seems to have been pulled down now, the Realme Buds Air will be sold for INR 4,999 (~$71) in India. The product listing also revealed the earbuds will ship with a USB Type-C cable which means it has a USB Type-C port.

The product image shows the earbuds have a glossy finish just as the charging case. There is also an LED on the front of the case to indicate when charging.

The Realme Buds Air will connect via Bluetooth 5.0, have Google Assistant, and instant connection with your phone when you open the case. It has also been reported to have a 12mm driver.

A few days ago we reported about the official launch date of Realme’s TWS earbuds.  However, despite all the hype and marketing, we don’t even know the Realme TWS earbuds real name, at least until now. According to known tipster Mukul Sharma, the upcoming Realme TWS earbuds will simply be known as the Realme Buds Air in India.

It’s not a very appealing name, but we suppose calling them the Air Buds would be a bit too close to AirPods for many. We already know that the Realme Buds Air lift a lot from the Cupertino company in design, let’s hope the name doesn’t follow suit. The leaks also show us some technical specifications for the upcoming Realme Buds Air.
