Realme started offering four major Android updates to its devices last year, beginning with the Realme GT 7. Some more devices later arrived with this updated software policy, but the overall list is still too short, as Realme hasn’t expanded the new policy beyond the premium segment.

If your Realme device is on the list, you’re in luck. But millions of Realme users are getting up to three Android OS updates, while brands like Samsung offer up to six on many of their budget phones, and their high-end phones get seven OS updates.

The four Android OS update policy is very welcoming from Realme, but it really shouldn’t be limited to premium phones. Even premium mid-range phones, such as the Realme 16 Pro+, which costs up to INR 45,000, only guarantee up to three Android OS updates.

Realme really needs to up its software update policy, as its competitors are doing it aggressively. Take Motorola, for example: the brand isn’t well-reputed for software updates, but it has been greatly improving rollout speed for the last few months. Not just that, the brand now promises up to five major OS updates for many of its mid-range phones, and recently matched Google and Samsung by promising seven years of Android OS support for the Motorola Signature smartphone.

Its Chinese rivals, including Oppo and Xiaomi, are also ahead with up to five major Android OS updates. Additionally, they promise longer updates to newer mid-range phones. So, I guess Realme wouldn’t want its customers to switch to other brands just for this reason, and therefore, we’ll likely see an improved software update policy anytime soon, at least for mid-range phones.

2. OnePlus 13R

The OnePlus 13R is a premium option featuring an aluminum frame and the powerful Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, which is much faster than the Vivo V50’s 7 Gen 3 processor. It offers an LTPO 4.1 screen, Gorilla Glass 7i protection, and Ultra HDR image support.

It features an additional telephoto shooter that enables high-quality zoom shots, in addition to a primary camera and an ultrawide camera. The ultrawide camera has a lower resolution, though. 3. Oppo Reno 14

This is another excellent premium mid-range phone featuring an aluminum alloy frame, Gorilla Glass 7i protection, and an IP68 rating that ensures protection against dust and water. It has a slightly smaller screen size with a higher pixel density, resulting in sharper and crisper images. The device is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 8350 chip, faster than Vivo V50’s Snapdragon 7 Gen 3.

The Reno 14 promises two additional Android upgrades than the Vivo V50. It also featured an additional camera unit (telephoto lens) on the rear side, enabling a range of shots. It’s another solid package on the list, featuring an aluminum frame, IP68 rating, and Gorilla Glass Victus+ protection on both sides. The Exynos 2400e chipset powers the handset, which is nearly twice as fast as the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 on the Vivo V50.

The Galaxy S24 FE features a marginally smaller screen size with nearly the same pixel density but a significantly lower peak brightness. However, it leaves the Vivo V50 in the dust by offering seven years of Android upgrades. The device allows up to 8K video recording via its triple rear cameras, which also includes a telephoto unit. The battery capacity, however, is a bit disappointing, as is the charging speed (4700mAh, 25W). However, it supports wireless charging.

5. Vivo T4 Ultra

The Vivo T4 Ultra puts a tough show against the Vivo V50 while being similarly priced. It comes with the Dimensity 9300+ chipset, which is significantly faster than the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 in the V50.

The T4 Ultra also features superior overall cameras, rocking a 50MP primary shooter, an 8MP ultrawide camera, and a 50MP periscope telephoto camera. The V50 lacks a telephoto camera. The T4 Ultra, however, features lower-resolution selfie and ultrawide cameras, but overall, it has a solid camera setup.

So you only miss out on the high frequency PWM dimming. One of the biggest differences between them is in performance. Realme equips the GT 7 with a MediaTek Dimensity 9400e SoC, which is an underclocked version of the Dimensity 9400. Meanwhile, the Realme GT 7T features the Dimensity 8400 MAX chipset. The Dimensity 9400e is faster than the Dimensity 9300+ chip and offers near flagship level performance, while the Dimensity 8400 MAX is basically a processor for upper mid range devices.

Camera

Photography is another area with key differences, as the Realme GT 7 features a triple camera setup compared to the GT 7T’s dual rear cameras. Realme has officially launched the GT 7 and GT 7T smartphones in India and global markets. The two devices mark the company’s next major step in its performance-focused GT series. Both phones come equipped with large AMOLED displays, MediaTek Dimensity chipsets, and massive 7000mAh batteries. Realme also introduced a limited Dream Edition of the GT 7, developed in collaboration with the Aston Martin Formula One Team.

Realme GT 7 and GT 7T Specifications

The Realme GT 7 features a 6.78-inch AMOLED display with a 1.5K resolution (2780×1264 pixels), 120Hz refresh rate, 360Hz touch sampling rate, and up to 6000 nits peak brightness. It supports 2600Hz high-frequency PWM dimming, DC dimming, and 100% DCI-P3 color gamut. The GT 7T shares a similar 6.80-inch AMOLED panel with the same 1.5K resolution and 6000 nits peak brightness, offering ultra-narrow bezels for an immersive viewing experience.

Realme GT 7 is powered by MediaTek’s latest 4nm Dimensity 9400e processor with an Immortalis-G720 MC12 GPU. It claims an AnTuTu score of over 2.4 million and uses IceSense Graphene with a 7700mm² vapor chamber for advanced cooling. The GT 7T uses the Dimensity 8400-MAX SoC, clocked up to 3.25GHz, and also includes the same cooling setup. Both phones come equipped with LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 storage for fast memory and data access.

Both phones ship with Android 15 out of the box, layered with Realme UI 6.0. Realme promises 4 major Android OS updates and 6 years of security patches.

Coming to the optics, the Realme GT 7 sports a triple camera setup on the rear with a 50MP Sony IMX906 main sensor (OIS), an 8MP ultra-wide camera, and a 50MP 2x telephoto lens. The front has a 32MP shooter. It supports 4K 60fps Dolby Vision recording, AI glare removal, AI landscape mode, and underwater photography. The GT 7T has a 50MP Sony IMX896 main sensor with OIS, an 8MP ultra-wide camera, and the same 32MP front camera.

Both models house a large 7000mAh battery with support for 120W SuperVOOC wired fast charging. Realme claims the phones can charge from 0 to 50% in just 14-15 minutes and reach full capacity in 40 minutes. They also support bypass charging to avoid heat during gaming.

Both phones include an in-display fingerprint scanner, IR blaster, stereo speakers, USB Type-C audio, NFC, Wi-Fi 6, and Bluetooth 5.4. They are also IP66, IP68, and IP69 certified for dust, water immersion, and high-pressure water resistance.

Realme has also introduced a special GT 7 Dream Edition, designed in collaboration with the Aston Martin Aramco Formula One Team. This exclusive variant features the signature Aston Martin Racing Green finish, aerodynamic flow lines, and an engraved Silver Wings emblem. It ships in a collector’s box that includes a Silver Wing case and a racecar-inspired SIM ejector pin, targeting enthusiasts who want both performance and luxury in a single package. Meanwhile, the GT 7T also includes racing-themed designs with vegan leather options.

Pricing and Availability

The Realme GT 7 starts at Rs. 39,999 for the 8GB + 256GB model, Rs. 42,999 for 12GB + 256GB, and Rs. 46,999 for 12GB + 512GB. The GT 7 Dream Edition, with 16GB + 512GB, is priced at Rs. 49,999. Globally, the GT 7 is priced at €749.99 for 12GB + 256GB, €799.99 for 12GB + 512GB, and €899.99 for the Dream Edition.

The Realme GT 7T is priced at Rs. 34,999 for 8GB + 256GB, Rs. 37,999 for 12GB + 256GB, and Rs. 41,999 for 12GB + 512GB. In global markets, it is priced at €649.99 for 12GB + 256GB and €699.99 for 12GB + 512GB.

Both phones will be available starting May 30 via Amazon, realme.com, and retail outlets. The Dream Edition will go on sale from June 13. Pre-booking starts May 27, with launch offers including screen protection, no-cost EMIs, and discounts up to Rs. 6,000 or €100 depending on the region.

The upcoming Realme GT 7 has officially broken a Guinness World Record for the “Longest Marathon Watching Films/Movies on a Mobile Phone.” The record was set during a 24-hour movie playback session certified by a Guinness representative on May 23, 2025. The event was part of Realme’s “Endless Power Journey,” a European cruise-based promotional tour that started in Rome and was livestreamed from Shenzhen, China, beginning at 9:30 PM IST on May 22. The record was validated exactly 24 hours later.

Realme attributes this feat to the GT 7’s 7000mAh battery paired with 120W wired fast charging. The battery has received a 5-Star Battery Certification from TÜV Rheinland. On May 27, Realme will hold a global launch event to unveil the Realme GT 7 and GT 7T smartphones. Touted as the “flagship killer phones” by the brand, both models are expected to arrive as performance-focused devices with aggressive pricing across different markets. While Realme has already revealed the design of both smartphones, it has just started unveiling key specifications. Today, the brand rolled out new posters revealing the battery size and charging capabilities of the GT 7 series.

Realme GT 7 series to house 7,000mAh battery

The posters suggest that the Realme GT 7 and GT 7T will be equipped with a large 7,000mAh battery. Both devices will support 120W fast charging. However, further specifications are yet to be officially confirmed.

The Realme GT 7 and GT 7T  have also been spotted on the Geekbench benchmarking platform in recent weeks. The listings indicate that the GT 7 may debut with the upcoming Dimensity 9400e chipset, while the 7T could be powered by the Dimensity 8400.

Rethinking the GT 7’s Geekbench listing, it now seems equipped with the upcoming Dimensity 9400e, not the D9300+ as previously thought. Rumors surrounding the D9400e suggest that it will have the same CPU and GPU as the D9300+ but may offer refinements in other departments.

For charging needs, a replacement 100W SuperVOOC charger costs 149 yuan (roughly $21), and a new USB-C cable is a modest 39 yuan (around $5).

The camera system components also have reasonable replacement costs. The 50MP Sony IMX896 primary camera module with Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) is priced at 239 yuan (approximately $33). Now, the company reveals an even more interesting aspect: a new back material that is reportedly achieves 600% the thermal conductivity of a traditional glass material. The brand is calling it a “graphene fiberglass fusion”, which is reportedly an industry first.

Why this is important

Most of the performance-centric devices and flagships (at least from China) have been using larger and larger VC cooling plates that are attached to the SoC. However, the heat absorbed by the VC plate also needs to be dissipated into the environment, which makes neither the front nor the back function as a good conductor of heat. Manufacturers experimented with metal back plates, but they had their own issues. Now, given Realme’s claim regarding the 600% thermal conductivity is true, it’s going to benefit the sustained performance of the GT7. This new back plate material is also reportedly thinner, lighter, and more drop-resistant.

The GT7 is also expected to be thinner and lighter than the GT6, which measures 8.4mm in thickness and weighs 207g. The predecessor has a plastic back, so the improvement in both heat dissipation and in-hand experience will be clearly noticeable.

Realme has officially announced the launch of its upcoming flagship smartphone, the Realme GT 7. According to Realme executives, the device will be among the first to feature MediaTek’s latest Dimensity 9400+ chipset. The chip, which is set to debut on April 11, will be an overclocked version of the Dimensity 9400 that debuted in October last year.

Realme’s Vice President, Xu Qi, has highlighted the importance of 3nm technology in defining next-generation flagship performance. The Dimensity 9400+ chipset, built on TSMC’s advanced 3nm process, is expected to bring substantial improvements in power efficiency and thermal management.

The CPU configuration includes one Cortex-X925 core clocked at 3.73GHz, three Cortex-X4 cores at 3.30GHz, and four Cortex-A720 cores at 2.4GHz, making it MediaTek’s highest-frequency mobile processor to date. Benchmark results suggest that the chipset could surpass 3 million points on AnTuTu, positioning it as a top-tier performer among Android devices.

According to a tipster, the Realme GT 7 will be equipped with a 7,000mAh single-cell battery and 100W rapid charging support. It will feature a flat display and the forthcoming Dimensity 9400 Plus chipset.

DCS has further claimed that the GT 7 will be thinner and lighter than the GT 6, which is 8.4 mm thick and weighs 207 grams. The GT 6 featured a 5,800mAh battery, but its successor, despite packing a larger battery, will weigh less than its predecessor.

Speculations are rife that the Oppo Find X8S and Find X8S+ will debut on April 10 in China as the world’s first smartphones powered by the Dimensity 9400 Plus chipset. The Vivo X200S, debuting later in the same month, will also feature the same chipset.

Next in line are the iQOO Neo 9S, Redmi K80 Ultra, and OnePlus Ace 5S which are expected to feature the Dimensity 9400 Plus chipset. DCS’ leak states that Realme wants to be the first among these models to launch a D9400+ phone. Therefore, the GT 7 is expected to debut as early as April.

In November 2024, Realme unveiled the Realme GT 7 Pro, powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset. Earlier this month, an upcoming Realme phone with the model number RMX5090 was spotted in the database of the TENAA certification platform. The listing revealed that, compared to the GT 7 Pro, the RMX5090 lacks a periscope telephoto camera while retaining the same specifications as the GT 7 Pro. Furthermore, the absence of one camera results in a slightly redesigned dual-camera module on the RMX5090, replacing the triple-camera setup seen on the GT 7 Pro.

While there is no clarity about the final moniker of the Realme RMX5090, it is being dubbed the Realme GT 7. According to tipster Experience More, apart from the Neo 7 SE, Realme will also announce the Realme GT 7 by the end of February in China. While the GT 7 Pro is Realme’s first phone with an ultrasonic in-screen fingerprint sensor, the inclusion of the same is questionable on the GT 7. Likely, the brand may offer an optical-type in-screen fingerprint sensor on the GT 7 to launch it at a reduced price.

Talking about the price, the Realme GT 7 will temporarily displace the OnePlus Ace 5 Pro to become the most affordable Snapdragon 8 Elite chip-powered smartphone. To recall, the Ace 5 Pro was announced with a starting price of 3,399 Yuan (~$465) in China.

The tipster added that the upcoming Realme Neo 7 SE is basically regarded as the Neo 7 with a new chip, the Dimensity 8400-Max.
