Realme GT2 Pro has an eco-friendly design and an interesting color palette

Realme has officially refreshed its GT series in the Indian market with the release of the Realme GT2 Pro. The smartphone comes with revamped design and has an interesting color palette.

The Realme GT2 Pro has three color variants – Paper White, Paper Green, and Steel Black. The smartphone adopts the new design language as opposed to the predecessor and has an eco-friendly textured back.

The back of the smartphone is made with the use of biopolymer material. It is claimed to be the world’s first smartphone to use this material. It replicates a paper-like look making the phone’s in-hand grip better.

As per Realme, they tested hundreds of combinations and finally carved 5612 textures based on biomaterials for the smartphone. Lastly, the design was finalized in collaboration with Realme Design Studio and the Japanese designer Naoto Fukasawa.

One interesting thing about the back design is that you can use a pencil to sketch on the phone’s back. Since it is a paper-like design, you also use an eraser to rub off the sketch. Considering the eco-friendly design and the TCO 9.0 certification, Realme plans to use this material in its future GT-series phones. One thing to note is that the Steel Black doesn’t have this paper-like finish. The Steel Black GT2 Pro is made out of AG glass material that is claimed to offer a tactile metallic feel without the weight of metal. Something different from the other two colors, and it is made for those who want a metal-like feel to their device.

Other than the back design, the phone replaces the boring triple camera array from its predecessor, where the sensors are placed vertically one by one, with a new layout where the two lenses are placed one after another and the third lens offset.

This camera positioning is similar to what we see on some new phones. For instance, the Realme 9 Pro+ has a similar camera positioning. Even the newly launched OnePlus Nord CE 2 (Review) has such a type of setup with tweaked camera positioning. On the front, the phone has a regular punch-hole display with thin bezels. Nothing fancy for the front.

After debuting the Realme GT2 Pro in the global market, the company is all set to launch it in the Indian region. The smartphone will bring the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 flagship chipset and a new design. Let’s take a look at the India launch date and the platform on which you can attend the live event.

How to watch the Realme GT2 Pro India launch event?

The Realme GT2 Pro is scheduled to launch tomorrow i.e. April 7 at 12:30 PM IST in the Indian market. It will be a digital event that will be streamed on the Realme India official Youtube channel.

The smartphone is expected to come in the premium segment and will have two variants: 8GB/128GB and 12GB/256GB. It will launch in three colors — Paper Black, Paper White, and Paper Green.

Realme GT2 Pro Specifications and Features

Realme GT2 Pro comes with a 6.7-inch LTPO 2.0 AMOLED panel with Quad-HD+ resolution and 120Hz refresh rate. It has Gorilla Glass Victus protection, HDR10+ support, and 1400 nits of peak brightness. It is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC paired with LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 internal storage.

The device boasts a triple camera array with a 50MP Sony IMX766 main lens with OIS support. It is accompanied by a 50MP ultra-wide lens, and lastly a 2MP microscope sensor. On the front, the phone has a 32MP camera for selfies and video calls.

The device packs a 5,000mAh battery with support for 65W fast charging technology. As for security, the phone has an in-display fingerprint scanner and facial recognition option. It has a stereo speaker setup and USB Type-C port, but it lacks the 3.5mm headphone jack. Lastly, the phone was launched in China with Realme UI based on the Android 12 OS.

Realme GT2 Pro gets Anatel approval in Brazil

Realme will take wraps off the Realme GT2 and GT2 Pro on February 28 in the global market. Ahead of its launch, the series has appeared on multiple global certification sites. Now, the Realme GT2 Pro has appeared on a new certification, this time on Brazil’s Anatel agency.

The Anatel certification confirms that the device with model number RMX3301 will soon go official in the Brazilian market. That being said, the phone’s sale could be soon after the release this month. The global model of the GT2 Pro is expected to have the same specs as the model launched in China.

The Realme GT2 Pro has a 6.7-inch LTPO AMOLED display with a QHD+ resolution and 120Hz refresh rate screen. It has a 32MP selfie snapper and a triple rear camera array. The setup goes by a 50MP primary lens, a 50MP ultra-wide sensor, and a 3MP microscope lens.

Under the hood, it is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC coupled with LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 internal storage. The phone packs a 5,000mAh battery and has 65W fast charging support. It has an in-display fingerprint scanner for security and boots on Android 12 OS.

The European pricing of the phone was tipped recently. The GT2 Pro is said to come at a price of EUR 789(~$885). The device is expected to arrive in Paper White, Paper Green, and Steel Black color variants.

Realme GT2 Pro launched with a 2K AMOLED screen, SD8 Gen 1, eco-friendly materials

Realme has officially announced the Realme GT2 Pro flagship smartphone equipped with several innovative features. One of the fun features is the use of environmentally friendly, bio-based materials to manufacture the rear cover. The casing is said to have been sourced from paper, soybeans, and other materials.

The use of environmentally friendly materials may have contributed to the lightweight design as the device weighs only 189g despite packing a massive 5,000mAh battery. The device comes with support for a 65W flash charge which the company claims can deliver 100% charge in just 33 minutes.

The Realme GT2 Pro features a 6.7-inch LPTO AMOLED screen with a 2K resolution of 3216 x 1440 pixels. The display is said to be a flexible panel with support for a 120Hz refresh rate, up to 1400 nits. The display has a punch-hole cut out at the top left corner of the screen housing the selfie camera. The display is protected by a layer of Corning Gorilla Glas Victus. The display has also received DisplayMate’s A+ rating. Furthermore, the screen features support for a single 1000Hz gaming control engine, O-Sync overclocking response 2.0. You also get a new generation under-display fingerprint sensor that can unlock the screen very fast and also supports heart rate detection.

The GT2 Pro is touted to be the world’s first device to pack a new generation of super-large X-axis linear motor. The device uses a revolutionary full-speed matrix antenna system as well as a Wi-Fi network enhancement system and new-gen omnidirectional NFC.

The Realme GT2 Pro is powered by the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 5G chipset. It equally adopts the diamond ice core cooling system Plus which is said to increase the heat dissipation area by 205%. The nine-layer heat dissipation structure covers 100% of the heat source bringing a conduction efficiency increase of 50%. The design also reduces the peak core temperature by 19°C. The phone has a heat dissipation area of 36761mm² which is likely the industry’s largest. It also features what is also likely the industry’s largest tempered VC liquid cooling area – 4129mm².

For interface, the Realme GT2 Pro is pre-installed with Realme UI 3.0 based on Android 12 which brings an upgrade in the UI as well as new desktop components in GT mode and a more stable and smooth AI frame stabilization technology 2.0. The device also comes with GPU heterogeneous rendering technology that helps lower power consumption.

The Realme GT2 Pro comes in 8GB RAM and 12GB RAM options. The 8GB+128GB variant is priced at ¥3699 (~$582) while the 8+256GB version comes in at ¥3999 (~$629). The 12+256GB is priced at ¥4299 (~$676) and the top-end 12+512GB will retail for ¥4799 (~$755). The device is presently up for pre-orders and will g on sale on January 7th.
