Chinese handset maker realme launched the realme narzo 30 5G in India at the end of June. The smartphone was unveiled in a single 6GB + 128GB storage configuration. Two months later, the brand has now announced a new lower memory version of the device for a cheaper price tag.

Smartphone brand realme has introduced the realme narzo 30 5G in 4GB + 64GB variant in India. This version of the phone is priced at ₹13,999 in the region. It will be available in Racing Silver and Racing Blue color options.

The new memory variant of the handset will go on sale starting tomorrow (August 24) on realme.com, Flipkart, and other official retailers. The original 6GB + 128GB will continue to sell for the same ₹15,999 price tag.

As far as specs are concerned, the realme narzo 30 5G comes with a 6.5-inch 90Hz FHD+ display (LCD), MediaTek Dimensity 700 SoC, 48MP (wide) + 2MP (monochrome) + 2MP (macro) triple camera setup, 16MP selfie camera, 5,000mA battery with 18W fast charging support, and realme UI 2.0 based on Android 11.

Other features include dual SIM card slots, dual-band WiFi, Bluetooth 5.1, USB Type-C port, 3.5mm headphone jack, MicroSD card slot (up to 1TB), and side-mounted fingerprint sensor.

Virtual RAM on smartphones is trending lately. A bunch of recently launched phones, especially from OPPO, come with virtual RAM support. The virtual RAM feature uses the internal storage of the phone as RAM, offering flexibility and speed whenever required. The same feature has now been pushed to the last year’s flagship smartphone, the OPPO Find X2. 

Those who would have updated to the CPH2023_11.C.68 June 2021 build would be seeing this Virtual RAM feature. Interestingly, this virtual RAM can be tweaked from the settings of the device. In order to expand the RAM, you need to do the following after updating the software. 

• Go to settings
• Find RAM option, Click on the RAM option
• Select the expansion toggle and select the RAM size

With the virtual RAM expansion feature, you can expand the RAM up to 7GB. It has options to choose from 3GB, 5GB, and the maxed out 7GB RAM. Currently, the feature is only rolled out to some Find X2 devices. We can expect more phones to get this feature via a software update. 

Notably, its premium sibling, the OPPO Find X2 Pro has not yet received this feature. However, it shouldn’t be too long until we see the virtual RAM expansion options on the device. 

The upcoming OPPO Reno6 Pro 5G launching on July 14 will also be featuring virtual RAM support out of the box. As of now, it is unknown what expansion options would the device get. 

Other than this, some BBK backed phone makers have also unveiled phones with virtual RAM. Recently, the Realme Narzo 30 5G also received this feature with a dedicated RAM amount selection option.

Realme has just launched its latest Narzo 30 series in India. The lineup includes the Narzo 30 4G and the Narzo 30 5G. These smartphones have already been launched in Europe and Malaysia and has finally made their way to the Indian market.

Specs and Features

The Narzo 30 5G and 5G from the Chinese tech giant features a 6.5 inch IPS LCD panel, which has a FHD+ resolution, 405ppi pixel density, along with a high 90Hz refresh rate display, and a 180Hz touch sampling rate. The maximum brightness is 600 nits, with a 90.5 percent screen to body ratio on the front. The device measures 162.5 x 74.8 x 8.5mm in dimensions and weighs 185 grams.

Under the hood, the primary difference between the base 4G and 5G models is the SoC. The former sports a MediaTek Helio G95 processor, while the latter houses the Dimensity 700 5G chip. For memory, the Narzo 30 4G arrives with 4GB or 6GB of RAM with 64GB of 128GB of storage depending on the configuration, along with microSD card slot support for memory expansion. The Narzo 30 4G and 5G are powered by large 5,000mAh battery pack with 18W fast charging support for the 5G version and 30W fast charging for the 4G version.

For photography, both devices sports a 16 megapixel selfie shooter on the front, while the rear features a 48 megapixel triple camera setup, paired with a 2 megapixel monochrome portrait lens, and a 2 megapixel macro sensor as well. Its camera system supports features like super nightscape, panoramic view, time lapse, portrait mode, AI scene recognition, AI beauty, filters, and UIS video stabilization. Other features include, a 3.5mm headphones jack, side mounted fingerprint reader, Bluetooth 5.1, dual SIM 5G, and more.

Price and Availability

The Realme Narzo 30 4G and Narzo 30 5G will be available on the company’s official website, authorized retailers, and Flipkart, a popular Indian e-retailer. The Narzo 30 4G will start from 12,499 INR (roughly 168 US Dollars) for its 4GB + 64GB variant and 14,499 INR (roughly 195 US Dollars) for the 6GB + 128GB version.

On the other hand, the Narzo 30 5G will be available in a single 6GB + 128GB variant for 15,999 INR (roughly 215 US Dollars). It is also available in multiple color variants, including Racing Silver and Racing Blue options. The 4G variant’s first sale starts from 29th June 2021, while the 5G version will go on sale on 30th June 2021. The company is also offers a introductory offer of 500 INR off on the first sale.

Chinese handset maker realme has scheduled an event for June 24 in India. The brand has confirmed to launch realme narzo 30, realme narzo 30 5G, and realme Smart TV Full HD 32” at this conference. An accessory called realme Buds Q2 will be also debuting along with these devices. Ahead of these products’ official announcement, the price of the 5G smartphone and the TWS have been revealed by a tipster.

The realme Buds Q2 made their global debut in Pakistan in late April. They are priced at 5,999 ($38) Pakistani Rupees in the country. According to Yogesh (via realmetimes), this pair of TWS will cost similar in India. As per him, the realme Buds Q2 will be priced in India at either ₹2,899 ($39) or ₹2,899 ($40).

On the other hand, the realme narzo 30 5G will compete directly with the POCO M3 Pro 5G. Hence, it is said to retail for ₹15,990 for a single 6GB + 128GB variant. For comparison, the POCO device costs ₹13,999 and ₹15,999 for the 4GB + 64GB and 6GB + 128GB storage configurations respectively.

The upcoming realme narzo 30 5G and realme Buds Q2 do not feature anything extraordinary. The highlight of these devices is their price. The former is said to democratize 5G, whereas the latter is advertised as a democratizer of ANC (Active Noise Cancellation).

Last month, realme launched the realme narzo 30 Pro 5G as the most affordable 5G smartphone in India. Now, the company has officially confirmed to release another such cheap 5G handset. This device will be called realme narzo 30 5G.

Madhav Sheth, the CEO of realme India and realme Europe answers the questions asked by the public once every month in a YouTube video series called ‘AskMadhav’. In the recently released Episode 25 of the series, the company executive confirms the arrival of realme narzo 30.

In the latest video, Mr. Sheth reveals that the realme narzo 30 has reached the end of the testing and development phase. But due to the recent demand for 5G smartphones, the brand has decided to launch a 5G variant of this handset. He even confirms that both the models will be released together.

However, the executive does not say when these phones will go official. He merely uses the word ‘soon’. Hence, the launch could take place in a few weeks or even months from now.

Anyway, although we appreciate realme for democratizing 5G technology for the masses, the brand lags behind in the software department. The company debuted the realme narzo 30 Pro 5G with Android 10. This device is scheduled to get Android 11 beta only in Q3 2021.

Hopefully, realme improves its software support as soon as possible.
