There are hundreds and even thousands of chips in every single smartphone. The one that people care about the most is definitely the processor, because it directly determines how powerful your phone is and whether games can run smoothly. The Realme P4 series is designed specifically for the Indian market. Take the P4 Pro as an example: it comes with a 50MP main camera, an 8MP ultra-wide camera, a massive 7000mAh battery with 80W wired charging, a 144Hz curved display, and an ultra-slim body. Even its design bears a striking resemblance to the newly released iPhone 17 Pro series. As a mid-range phone, it performs remarkably well. If there’s one shortcoming, it would be the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4, which lacks a bit of raw power. But as mentioned earlier, Realme has equipped the device with a Pixelworks chip to make up for that final weakness.

Pixelworks X7 Gen2 Visual Processor

The X7 series of chips is probably no stranger to some users, as they have been used in models such as the OnePlus 12 and Ace 3. However, the realme P4 series is probably the cheapest model you can buy with the Pixelworks X7 Gen2. With the help of this chip, your phone can boost the frame rate of hundreds of games to as high as 144fps, and increase the resolution to 1.5K. It can also convert SDR images to HDR, allowing every player to experience an ultimate level of gaming.

So is the Pixelworks X7 Gen2 really that magical? Can it truly elevate the gaming experience of a budget phone? Real-world testing is the best evidence. This chip currently provides AI Hyper Motion, AI Hyper Clarity, and AI Always-On HDR features for Genshin Impact, so we chose it as the benchmark game to test the actual effects of each function.

AI Hyper Motion: Boost frame rate

The most important feature of the Pixelworks X7 Gen2 is AI Hyper Motion, which is the frame interpolation function. For now, you can choose to enhance the frame rate up to 144. Running Genshin Impact at 144 frames on the realme P4 Pro is no longer a difficult task for the X7 Gen2. But apart from the average frame rate, there are many other data points worth noting, such as Repeat FPS and Generated FPS.

Both of these metrics can be measured using the PerfDog testing tool. To make this possible, Pixelworks partnered with PerfDog to jointly develop the “Frame Generation” metric. This provides stronger data support for evaluating gaming performance and helps redefine the testing standard for AI frame interpolation. Simply put, the lower the Repeat FPS and the higher the Generated FPS, the better the gaming experience.

You can see that the Repeat FPS on the realme P4 Pro is very low, with a maximum of only 4fps. This indicates that the X7 Gen2 Visual Processor’s interpolation success rate is very high, meaning you can hardly feel any stuttering. But the prerequisite for achieving this effect is that your graphics quality cannot be set too high. The Snapdragon 7 Gen 4’s performance cannot generate enough frames under higher graphics settings, so when running at high graphics with very complex scenes, the interpolation function may fail.

But this is not the problem of the Pixelworks X7 Gen2—it is because the base frame rate at high graphics is insufficient, making it impossible to continue working. Simply put, the performance of the phone’s processor affects its performance. However, lowering the graphics quality allows you to break free from the 60fps limitation, and enjoying 144fps in most games is already far ahead of other phones at the same price.

Latency

True geek players would also care about latency, screen tearing, and power consumption after enabling frame interpolation. Even when comparing the gameplay in slow motion before and after frame interpolation, it’s almost impossible to notice any input delay. Screen tearing is also negligible—even in slow-motion playback, it is hard to distinguish any difference from the original picture. AI Hyper Motion certainly has almost no negative impact on gaming.

AI Hyper Motion: Optimise battery use

If you don’t want to interpolate to 144fps, only want to stabilize the frame rate to reduce power consumption and lower temperature, then you can enable the second option of AI Hyper Motion.

Here, we can compare the data before and after enabling this option, and the results are obvious. Whether it is average frame rate, stutter count, or 1% Low, the performance after enabling is significantly better than before. Power consumption does not change much, and the temperature is much lower than when it is not enabled. Because this option does not trigger interpolation, latency will certainly be lower than option one. If you are playing PVP mobile games, I would recommend enabling this option.

SDR2HDR & Resolution enhancement

Since the X7 Gen2 can perform frame interpolation for games, of course, it can also do so for videos. MEMC should be familiar to everyone, and for sports fans who often watch matches on their phones, this is great news. I don’t need to say much—just by looking at the footage, you will know which one is the better choice.

You can also enable AI Hyper Clarity and AI Always-On HDR in games. The details of character and background models will increase, and contrast will also change slightly. There are also some changes that screenshots cannot capture, such as saturation, which can be clearly seen when recording the screen with a camera.

Especially for gaming, phones equipped with this chip can break frame rate limits, achieve higher frame rates with lower power consumption, and lower temperatures.

realme launched the P4 Pro smartphone in India last week. The first sale took place on August 27 at 12 noon. The company has now confirmed a special 12-hour sale that begins today, August 29, at 12 PM and runs until midnight. Customers will get the same bank and exchange benefits during this limited-time window.

Pricing and Offers

The realme P4 Pro comes in three storage options. The 12GB RAM with 256GB storage variant is priced at ₹28,999. With a ₹3,000 bank discount and a ₹2,000 exchange bonus, the effective price is ₹23,999. The 8GB RAM with 256GB storage variant costs ₹26,999, but after offers the price comes down to ₹21,999. The base 8GB RAM with 128GB storage model is listed at ₹24,999 and is available for ₹19,999 after discounts. All models include a three-month no-cost EMI option. The phone can be bought from Flipkart, realme.com, and retail stores.

Specifications

The realme P4 Pro has a 6.8-inch OLED display with a resolution of 2800×1280 pixels, a 144Hz refresh rate, and up to 6500 nits peak brightness. The screen supports 100% DCI-P3 color gamut, up to 4608Hz high-frequency PWM dimming, full-brightness DC dimming, and is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 7i.

The phone runs on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 processor with Adreno 722 GPU. It comes with 8GB or 12GB LPDDR4X RAM and up to 256GB UFS 3.1 storage. It ships with Android 15 based realme UI 6.0.

The rear camera setup has a 50MP Sony IMX896 sensor with OIS and f/1.8 aperture, along with an 8MP ultra-wide camera with f/2.2 aperture. It supports 4K video recording at 60fps. On the front, it has a 50MP OV50D sensor with f/2.4 aperture, also capable of 4K recording.

Realme has confirmed that its next P series smartphones, the Realme P4 and P4 Pro, will launch in India on August 20, 2025. The announcement came from Realme’s Global Head of Marketing, Francis Wong, who also confirmed that the series will be sold online through Flipkart, including Flipkart Minutes.

The Flipkart microsite for the P4 Pro 5G is already live, showing key specifications. The phone runs on a dual-chip setup that combines the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 processor with the Hyper Vision AI GPU chip. Realme says this setup delivers 144 FPS gaming and Ultra HD graphics that go beyond native quality. The P4 Pro has scored more than 1,110,000 points on AnTuTu, placing it ahead of rivals using Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 and Dimensity 7400 chipsets.

The phone features a 144Hz HyperGlow 4D Curve+ display with a 1.5K resolution, HDR10+ certification, peak brightness of 6500 nits, and support for 1.07 billion colors. Realme claims the panel is 20 percent smoother than standard 120Hz displays.

Power comes from a 7000mAh Titan Battery with 80W Ultra Charging. The company says it can fully charge in 47 minutes and deliver up to 17 hours of video playback. Despite the large battery, the device remains slim and lightweight.

The design includes a flat frame and a rectangular triple-camera setup. The camera system is powered by AI, but full details have not yet been shared. The P4 Pro will be sold in Blue, Dark Green, and Light Gold.

The P4 will be available in Engine Blue, Steel Gray, and Forge Red, while the P4 Pro will also come in Midnight Ivy, Dark Oak Wood, and Birch Wood. The top 12GB+256GB variant will only be offered in Dark Oak Wood and Birch Wood. Both phones will ship with Android 15 and will receive three major OS updates and four years of security patches.

As for pricing, the Realme P4 Pro is said to cost below ₹30,000, while the regular P4 5G will start from ₹17,499.

Realme’s upcoming P-series phone just popped up on Geekbench, and it brings some predictable surprises. The Realme P4 Pro, carrying the model number RMX5116, is now confirmed to run on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 chipset. 

According to the Geekbench listing, the phone scored 1216 in the single-core test and 3533 in the multi-core test. But the benchmark listing didn’t just reveal performance. It also confirmed a few key specs. 

Geekbench scores

The P4 Pro will ship with 12GB of RAM and run Android 15 out of the box. The GPU is listed as Adreno 722, which should be good enough for casual gaming and basic graphics tasks.

If some of this sounds familiar, you’re not wrong. Based on what we’re seeing so far, the Realme P4 Pro might just be a rebadged Realme 15 Pro with a few tweaks and trims to make it feel new. However, that is just a guess on our side.

A previous report also hints at three color variants of the phone. The P4 Pro 5G could arrive in Midnight Ivy, Dark Oak Wood, and Birch Wood shades, although the top-tier model may skip the Midnight Ivy shade. As for storage options, it will be available in 8GB and 12GB of memory, and 128GB or 256GB of storage. 

There’s no official launch date yet, but word is that Realme has already begun internal testing for a release sometime this month. We will keep you in the loop as soon as we hear about it.

The Realme P4 5G is expected to arrive in three memory options: 6GB+128GB, 8GB+128GB, and 8GB+256GB. The phone will reportedly carry the model number RMX5110. Buyers will have three color choices: Engine Blue, Steel Gray, and Forge Red. This device will succeed the Snapdragon 6 Gen 4-powered Realme P3 5G, which debuted in the first half of this year.

Realme P4 Pro 5G memory and variant details

Arriving as the successor to Realme P3 Pro 5G, which debuted earlier this year, the Realme P4 Pro 5G is said to arrive in options like 8GB+128GB, 8GB+256GB, and 12GB+256GB.

Carrying the model number RMX5116, the phone is said to arrive in three color variants: Midnight Ivy, Dark Oak Wood, and Birch Wood. However, the top-end variant is expected to skip the Midnight Ivy option. Positioned in the mid-range price bracket, the P4 Pro could be priced around Rs 25,000, aligning with the launch price of its predecessor.

The source hasn’t shared any details about the other specs of the Realme P4 and P4 Pro. However, the leak states that Realme is expected to unveil the P4 series in the final days of August, with sales potentially beginning in early September.
