<p>According to a <a href="https://www.counterpointresearch.com/philippines-smartphone-market-q3-2021/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"><em>Counterpoint Research</em></a> report, the South Korean tech giant managed to overtake <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/realme/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Realme</a> to become number one in the country in Q3 2021. During this time, the company had a market share of 23 percent, while Realme followed close behind with a market share of 22 percent. Back in Q3 2020, the Chinese smartphone brand had a market share of 23 percent while Samsung accounted for just 15 percent of the market share.</p>
<p>The report added that the company managed to retake the lead thanks to the success of its mid range smartphone offerings. This includes the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/samsung-galaxy-a12/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Galaxy A12</a> and <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/samsung-galaxy-a21s/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Galaxy A21s</a>, which were among the major contributors during this quarter. On the other hand, Realme continued to strengthen its presence in the e-commerce segment, while <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/vivo/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Vivo</a> (17 percent), <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/oppo/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Oppo</a> (15 percent), and <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/xiaomi/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Xiaomi</a> (13 percent) took rounded up the top 5 spots.</p>

<p>As per Research Analyst Tanvi Sharma, “Businesses tried to increase the pace of their digital efforts to keep up with the continued expansion of cashless payments and e-commerce. Smartphone brands offered heavy discounts and exclusive schemes in the 9.9 Super Brand Day Sale. Besides, consumers were seen rapidly moving towards 5G-enabled smartphones. E-commerce growth will continue and is expected to sustain a long-term adoption of online channels. Shopee and Lazada are among the top e-commerce platforms, grabbing most online sales.”</p>

<p>According to a <a href="https://www.counterpointresearch.com/q2-2021-philippines-smartphone-market/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"><em>Counterpoint Research</em> </a>report, the region&#8217;s smartphone market saw a strong growth in Q2 2021 owing to strong promotions amid a growth in consumer demand as the economy recovers. Furthermore, the boom in middle class has also pushed the younger demographic&#8217;s demand for smartphones. So, despite the rising <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/coronavirus/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">coronavirus</a> cases in the country, the demand still remained strong, with the local lockdowns further reinforcing the demand as well.</p>
<p>Realme lead the smartphone market in Q2 2021, with a 21 percent market share. It achieved the lead with <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/oppo/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Oppo</a> arriving a close second with a 20 percent market share. Meanwhile, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/samsung/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Samsung</a> (19 percent) and <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/vivo/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Vivo</a> (18 percent) came in third and fourth respectively, while <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/xiaomi/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Xiaomi</a> rounded up the top 5 list with a 9 percent market share. The Chinese smartphone maker managed to lead the market thanks to the strong performance of its <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/realme-8/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Realme 8 series</a> but primarily due to the popularity of its C series of smartphones.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-338657 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/Realme-Logo-Featured.jpg?x44794" alt="Realme Logo Featured" width="4000" height="2375" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/Realme-Logo-Featured.jpg 4000w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/Realme-Logo-Featured-300x178.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/Realme-Logo-Featured-768x456.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/Realme-Logo-Featured-1024x608.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/Realme-Logo-Featured-696x413.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/Realme-Logo-Featured-1068x634.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/Realme-Logo-Featured-707x420.jpg 707w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/Realme-Logo-Featured-1920x1140.jpg 1920w" sizes="(max-width: 4000px) 100vw, 4000px" /></p>
<p>Research Associate Debasish Jana added that &#8220;The Philippines smartphone market continues to grow as consumers are rapidly shifting to the smartphone. Besides OEMs promoting the smartphone ecosystem, the telecom operators are also encouraging consumers to adopt 4G and 5G, leading to more people buying smartphones to avail better connectivity. Online channels are increasingly playing a crucial role in the smartphone market growth. They became more significant during the COVID-19 restrictions when offline retail could not operate at normal capacity.&#8221;</p>

After <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/11/08/realme-2-pro-c1-launch-malaysia/">expanding operations to Malaysia</a> and Indonesia, the company is now all set to enter the Phillippines.</p>
<p>Realme could launch three smartphones in the Phillippines &#8212; Realme 2 budget smartphone, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/09/27/realme-2-pro-launched-with-6-3-inch-display-snapdragon-660-8-gb-ram-and-dual-16mp-cameras/">Realme 2 Pro</a> &#8212; the company&#8217;s costliest phone till date, and the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/09/27/realme-c1-debuts-with-entry-level-specs-for-rs-6999/">Realme C1</a> &#8212; the brand&#8217;s entry-level smartphone. The company could also launch the Realme U1 since the phone is launching in India on 28th November.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-222930 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/Realme-new-logo.jpg?x44794" alt="Realme new logo" width="1200" height="676" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/Realme-new-logo.jpg 1200w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/Realme-new-logo-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/Realme-new-logo-768x433.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/Realme-new-logo-1024x577.jpg 1024w" sizes="(max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px" /></p>
<p>The pricing and availability details for all the phones will be revealed on 29th November. For selling the smartphone, the company could partner with Lazada as it was the go-to platform when the brand launched in other countries. During the 11.11 Singles Day sale, Realme was the bestselling smartphone brand on Lazado in South Asia.</p>
<p>Realme Philippines is also launching a campaign to gather a community, called <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/realme/">Realme</a> Squad Members. The company will select a few participants who will be among the first to get hands on the new phones, to propose community activities and “to be the pioneer of the brand.”</p>
<p>Realme Philippines chief operating officer Jacky Chen, said,</p>
<blockquote><p>We have worked hard to prepare the Philippine launching of Realme Philippines, as early as now we will listen and understand the needs of Filipino consumers to provide appealing offers and campaigns. We also aim to further push the growth of e-commerce in the Philippines through our product offerings and create the same effect we did in other Southeast Asian countries.</p></blockquote>
<p>The company&#8217;s expansion to the Phillippines makes it the sixth country where the company is establishing its presence. Currently, Realme is present in India, Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Thailand.</p>
