For a while now, we have been inundated with leaks and certifications for a Realme Race flagship smartphone. Apparently, the Race moniker is a codename for the unannounced smartphone. Realme’s exec Xu Qi Chase has shared a teaser which hints at the device launching under the moniker Realme GT.

Earlier on, Chase had hinted that the Realme Race will herald the beginning of a refreshed flagship series from the brand. The exec posted a teaser on Weibo containing a Nissan GT-R scale model car. This aligns well with a TENAA listing for a Realme device with the GT branding stamped on the back panel which was spotted last week.

It is already in the open that the Realme GT will be powered by a Snapdragon 888 chipset which will make it Realme’s first model to pack Qualcomm’s latest flagship SoC. In addition, the device will feature a triple camera setup  at the back, as spotted in a couple of live photos spotted recently.

In the same light, noted tipster Digital Chat Station has disclosed that the Realme GT will  feature a flat display, in addition to a super-fast charging and a thin build.

As for pother known specifications, the Realme Race/GT is expected to cram a 5000mAh battery under the hood and will have support for 125W UltraDart flash charging. The device also likely feature support for 120Hz refresh rate and will have up to 12GB RAM and 256GB storage on the top variant.

On the camera side, the GT/ Race will have a 64MP primary camera alongside a 13MP telephoto and a 13MP ultrawide sensors. The phone will likely come with a 120Hz display, up to 12GB RAM and 256GB storage. On the software side, it will run on Realme UI 2.0 based on Android 11 OS.

Yesterday, the Realme Race smartphone (RMX2202 model number) appeared in the database of China’s TENAA authority. The listing only revealed the images of the device. A careful look at the rear shell of the Race’s back revealed the presence of “GT” branding at the bottom-right corner. Fresh information reveals that the handset could be heading to India as a Realme GT series phone.

Realme has claimed that many times in the recent past that Race is just the codename of the device and its actual product name will be revealed later. Fresh information shared by popular tipster Mukul Sharma reveals that the Realme has trademarked the “Realme GT” moniker in India.

The Realme RMX2202 was recently certified by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) recently. It is likely that this device could be arriving in the Indian market with the Realme GT name.

Realme Race specifications (Rumored)

Leaked information that appeared in December revealed that the Realme Race will be fueled by the Snapdragon 888 mobile platform and 12 GB of RAM. The device may ship with 256 GB of internal storage. It is expected to come loaded with Realme UI 2.0 based Android 11 OS.

Another leak that appeared a few days back claimed that there is a Realme Race Pro handset with a 160Hz 6.81-inch OLED screen with 3K resolution support, 12 GB of LPDDR5 RAM, up to 512 GB of storage, and a 5,000mAh battery with 125W superfast charging support. The device could be featuring a 64-megapixel + 13-megapixel + 13-megapixel triple camera system.

As soon as Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 went official in early December 2020, multiple OEMs confirmed that they will be releasing phones with this chipset. One of those companies was realme, which even shared its device’s codename (Race). Now, this handset has been certified by BIS, and hence, it could launch in India as well.

Earlier today, the realme Race with model number RMX2202 was spotted on TENAA with its images, which differ from the picture shared by GSMArena but matches with another one (pictured above).

This very phone is now listed on India’s BIS (Bureau of Indian Standards) certification bureau as well. Hence, the realme Race may go official in India after its China launch, which has been confirmed to take place after the Chinese New Year.

According to previous reports, the realme Race will come with Snapdragon 888 SoC, 12GB RAM, 256GB internal storage, 64MP primary camera, and realme UI 2.0 based on Android 11. These specs suggest this handset to be a successor to last year’s realme X50 Pro, which launched as India’s as well as the brand’s first 5G smartphone.

Additionally, last month, a well-known tipster revealed that a Pro model will accompany the upcoming realme Race smartphone. However, the so-called realme Race Pro’s model number is still unknown though its specs have been tipped.

Also, this device is yet to be certified by TENAA, let alone BIS. Hence, currently, we can only say that India has a chance of getting the standard Race model and not the Pro. But the possibility could change in the coming days.

That said, the official branding of realme Race is also a mystery. It should probably retail as a realme X series phone or something new as realme is reported to offer new devices as a replacement to the OPPO ACE series.

Leaked information that surfaced in December revealed that the RMX2202 model number belongs to the forthcoming Realme flagship phone. The RMX2202 smartphone appeared in the database of the TENAA certification platform of China today. The listing has revealed the design of the smartphone.

The front image of the Realme RMX2202 shows that it has a punch-hole positioned at the top-left corner of the display. The flagship phone could be sporting an AMOLED screen with an in-screen fingerprint reader. The cameras of the Realme RMX2202 are not clearly visible in the rear image of the device. It seems to be housing an elongated flash unit and at least three or four cameras. What’s surprising about the TENAA images of the RMX2202 is that it differs dramatically from the leaked image that was leaked by GSMArena. 

The publication had revealed that the Snapdragon 888 powered Realme Race will come with 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of built-in storage. It may feature a 64-megapixel main camera and it will boot to Android 11 OS and Realme UI 2.0. Speculations are rife that this device could be the vanilla variant and there could be a more powerful Pro variant.

Earlier today, Xu Qi who is Realme China’s President hinted through Weibo that the Realme Race may launch in the coming month.

Xu Qi mentioned in the Weibo post that the Race smartphone will be made official after the Spring Festival (Feb. 12) of China. Hence, it is likely that the Realme Race may hit the Chinese markets in the latter half of February.

While leaked information that appeared in the last month revealed details of the Realme Race smartphone, but a leak from last week also revealed the existence of the Race Pro handset. Like the Race model, its Pro sibling could be powered by the Snapdragon 888 mobile platform.

The Realme Race Pro is expected to arrive with an OLED panel of 6.8 inches. The screen is likely to offer a Quad HD+ resolution of 1440 x 3200 pixels, a 20:9 aspect ratio, and a 160Hz refresh rate. The device could be fitted with a 64-megapixel + 13-megapixel + 13-megapixel triple camera system.

Soon after the MediaTek’s Dimensity 1200 chipset announcement, realme and Redmi confirmed that it will debut a smartphone with the chipset soon. And reports say that the realme device will be known as the realme X9 Pro. Now, the supposed specs of both the X9 Pro and a new realme ‘race’ Pro have been leaked.

According to a Weibo Post by IceUniverse, the realme X9 Pro will be a smartphone with Dimensity 1200 chipset. A GSMArena report also claims the same citing its own sources.  Anyway, the device will sport a 6.4-inch OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. This will reportedly be a FHD+ display with a 2400x1080p resolution and 20:9 aspect ratio.

For cameras, the device is expected to sport a 108MP camera sensor. If this is true, then realme X9 Pro will be the first realme device to boast a 100+ MP camera. Moving on, other sensors of triple-camera layout are likely two 13MP modules(could be Telephoto, Ultra-wide).

Other tipped specs include up to 12GB DDR5 RAM, a 128/256GB storage, 4,500mAh with 65W Dart charging, and realme UI 2.0(Android 11).

While realme’s India and Europe CEO Madhav Sheth has already teased a new smartphone with the ‘Xciting’ tag, reports say that the non-pro realme X9 is soon landing in India. And for the ‘Pro’ variant, it is so far tipped to launch in Q1 of 2021.

Further, the tipster also mentioned about a realme ‘Race’ Pro variant. It’s worth noting that a ‘Race’ device(model: RMX2202) is already confirmed to launch with Snapdragon 888 chipset. Anyway, the tipster says the ‘Pro’ variant will sport a bigger 6.8-inch OLED QHD+ display with a 20:9 aspect ratio.

The resolution will hence be around 3200×1440 pixels and it will likely support up to 160Hz refresh rate. Other expected specs include up to 12GB DDR5 RAM, 128/256/512GB storage, triple-camera with 64MP and two 13MP sensors, 5,000mAh battery with 125W UltraDart Fast charging, Android 11(realme UI 2.0).

Today, the Realme executive revealed that the Realme Race will be part of a new series.

Xu Qi claimed that the Race is just a codenamed of the device, which means it will be arriving with a different moniker. OPPO unveiled the Ace2 flagship phone earlier this year. It was expected to release the Ace3 phone in the second half of the year, but it did not come true. The probable reason behind it could be that OPPO reportedly transferred the Ace line to Realme at some point after the launch of the Ace2.

Hence, it is likely that the Realme Race could be arriving in the market as an Ace series phone. While Xu Qi said that the device will be launching next year, he did not reveal a specific timeframe. A couple of Snapdragon 888 powered phones are expected to go official before China’s Spring Festival that will fall on Feb. 12. It is unclear whether the Realme Ace flagship phone will debut before the said date. In all likelihood, the Realme Ace Snapdragon 888 powered phone may debut within Q1 2021.

GSMArena had shared a leaked shot of the phone earlier this month along with a screenshot of its “About phone” page. The leak revealed that the Realme Race has a glass rear with curved edges and a circular camera module with an elongated LED flash unit it alongside it. The phone was found to be equipped with specs like SD888, 12 GB of RAM, 256 GB of storage, and Realme UI 2.0 based Android 11 OS. It was also revealed that the smartphone’s model number is RMX2022.

Following the announcement of the Snapdragon 888 mobile platform, realme has announced that it has a new smartphone in development that is codenamed “Race” and it says it will be powered by the new processor.

According to a tweet by the official realme UK account, the realme Race will be one of the first flagships powered by the new premium chipset. This means the phone should launch in January or February of next year.

If you have been following news related to realme then you should know that the codename “Race” wasn’t randomly picked. To the best of our knowledge “Race” is short for “realme Ace”. Yes, Ace. If you remember, we reported back in September that the OPPO Ace series has been ceded to realme.

Alongside the confirmation from realme, a leak has also revealed key details and an image of the phone, and it appears realme will be sticking to the design of the OPPO Ace2.

The leak which was released exclusively to GSMArena reveals that the phone will have the model number RMX2202. A screenshot of the About Phone section of the upcoming device shows that the phone will run Android 11 with realme UI 2.0 on top. It will have 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, though we expect there will be other configurations too. The image also shows that the phone has a Snapdragon 888 processor under the hood.

There is also an image of the phone’s rear and it shows that the realme Race will have four rear cameras inside a round camera housing. Flanking the sensors on the right is an LED flash. The phone has a curved glass back and the design is very similar to that of the OPPO Ace2 that launched in April.

Unfortunately, there are no details of the camera specifications. We also don’t know the screen size, its resolution, and the design. Nevertheless, we already know more about the phone than we did yesterday.

It is also important to mention that since the announcement was made by realme UK, we expect the realme Race will launch in Europe when it arrives next year. We won’t be surprised if it even launches in the Old Continent first before making its way to other markets.
