<p><span style="font-weight: 400">Recently, </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/10/22/realme-international-business-unit-president-madhav-sheth/"><span style="font-weight: 400">Realme’s Madhav Sheth</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400"> was interviewed by </span><a href="https://www.androidauthority.com/realme-interview-madhav-sheth-2022-3085388/"><i><span style="font-weight: 400">Android Authority</span></i></a><span style="font-weight: 400">. Upon questioning about updates, the company executive revealed that the brand will stick with its old software policy.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">In other words, </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/realme/"><span style="font-weight: 400">Realme</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400"> smartphones will continue to receive only up to two Android updates and three years of security updates. The exec backs this policy by claiming that the average lifecycle of today&#8217;s phones ranges from 24 to 26 months.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">Do note that not all devices will be blessed with two Android updates. The maximum count will be only offered for flagships and select mid-rangers. Whereas, most of the portfolio will be either limited to a single Android update or none.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">Just ahead of the </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/realme-UI-3-0"><span style="font-weight: 400">Realme UI 3.0</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400"> announcement, the company </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/10/01/realme-software-update-policy-china/"><span style="font-weight: 400">disclosed</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400"> that its handsets in China will only receive two years of maintenance updates. Back then, we expected the brand to announce a better software policy for international markets. Sadly, Realme didn’t make changes to its existing policy.</span></p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-418980 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/realme-UI-3.0-Logo-Featured-A.jpeg?x44794" alt="realme UI 3.0 Logo Featured A" width="1012" height="675" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/realme-UI-3.0-Logo-Featured-A.jpeg 1012w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/realme-UI-3.0-Logo-Featured-A-300x200.jpeg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/realme-UI-3.0-Logo-Featured-A-768x512.jpeg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/realme-UI-3.0-Logo-Featured-A-696x464.jpeg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/realme-UI-3.0-Logo-Featured-A-630x420.jpeg 630w" sizes="(max-width: 1012px) 100vw, 1012px" /></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">It is weird for Realme to stick with an outdated policy. That’s because its sister brands Oppo and Oneplus now </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/07/02/oneplus-integrate-oxygenos-coloros-three-android-updates-flagships/"><span style="font-weight: 400">provide</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400"> up to three Android updates and four years of security updates like </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/08/18/heres-the-official-list-of-samsung-galaxy-devices-eligible-for-three-generations-of-android-updates/"><span style="font-weight: 400">Samsung</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400"> and </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/05/10/vivo-promises-three-years-of-software-updates-for-select-models/"><span style="font-weight: 400">Vivo</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400">.
