The smartphone is expected to be positioned lower than the Realme V5 5G that debuted recently in China. Hence, it appears that the mysterious Realme phone could be arriving in the market as the most affordable 5G-ready smartphone.

The Dimensity 720 powered Realme V5 5G arrived in China with a starting price of 1,399 Yuan (~$201). As compared to the Realme V5, the unnamed Realme phone that the tipster is talking about has weaker specs despite featuring the same Dimensity 720 SoC. Probably, it could be priced around 1,199 Yuan (~$172).

Recent reports have revealed that Huawei is planning to unveil the Enjoy 20 5G phone in China. It is a phone with LCD panel display, 13-megapixel triple cameras, 5,000mAh battery and is rumored to be powered by Dimensity 720 chipset. The rumor mill has claimed that it could be the cheapest 5G phone from Huawei. Realme seems to be planning to rival the Enjoy 20 5G with its new Dimensity 720 powered phone.

The mysterious handset that the leakster is talking about could be the Realme RMX2200 phone that is now listed in TENAA’s database with few details on its specs. The listing has revealed that it has a 6.52-inch display and a 4,980mAh battery. The phone measures 164.4 x 76 x 8.6mm and it carries support for 5G connectivity. The listing of the phone is expected to soon get populated with its images and remaining specs.

It has an FHD+ 6.43-inch OLED panel with punch-hole design and high refresh rate support. It may come with a 32-megapixel front camera and a 64-mgeapixel quad rear camera. The phone could be fueled by Snapdragon 765G and 4.300mAh dual-cell battery with 50W / 65W fast charging support.

We are talking about the Realme V5: despite its incredibly affordable price, this handset packs amazing specifications. It is definitely a best-buy, but is it the device with the highest value for money out there? We think there is no better way to establish it than comparing it with the other affordable 5G phones in the market. And among the most affordable one, we got the Honor X10 by Huawei’s brand and the Redmi 10X by Xiaomi.
Design

Redmi 10X has a more classic and less attractive design than its rivals, but it comes with very high build quality. Indeed, it sports a glass back just like premium handsets. Further, the rear glass and the display are protected by Gorilla Glass 5 by Corning. You do not get such a great build quality with the Honor X10 and Realme V5, but they have a more attractive look: in the first case, you get a full-screen display with a pop-up front camera, while in the second case there is a punch-hole display. Make your choice depending on your tastes and needs.

Display

My favorite display belongs to the Redmi 10X and I think a lot of people would agree with me. It does not have a 90 Hz refresh rate like the Honor X10 and the Realme V5, but it is the only one with an AMOLED display and it even comes with the HDR10+ certification for better image quality. Last but not least, it has very high brightness, so it is visible under sunlight. With the Realme V5 and the Honor X10, you get an IPS display, but they have a high 90 Hz refresh rate which allows having a smoother viewing experience and better gameplay.

Specs & Software

One of the strongest points of the Redmi 10X is the hardware department: it has the most powerful chipset under the hood. We are referring to the Dimensity 820 boasting high CPU and GPU performance. The handset also packs up to 8 GB of RAM. But note that the Honor X10 is very close with its Kirin 820 5G; it does not seem a case that the two chipsets are identified by the same number. Unfortunately, the Realme V5 has an inferior Dimensity 720 SoC, so you will get inferior performances overall. Android 10 is installed out of the box in each case, with a customized user interface on top.

Camera

The most impressive camera department belongs to the Honor X10 which packs a great 40 MP main sensor for its rear camera setup. Right after, we got the Realme V5, at least on the paper. But we have to test it thoroughly in order to establish whether its camera is really valid: given that it went official today, we had no chance to do it. Redmi 10X has a similar camera department to the Realme V5, but it lacks the macro camera and it just comes with three sensors on the rear side.

Battery

The key feature of the Realme V5 is a huge 5000 mAh battery which will allow it to last a lot more than its rivals on a single charge. It even comes with a faster charging technology, with a power of 30W. Right after, we got the Redmi 10X with a 4520 mAh battery and an efficient AMOLED display.

Price

Realme V5 is priced just €183/$215 in its base variant and it wins the value for money comparison. Redmi 10X starts from €238/$280 and it offers a better display and better hardware, so it is slightly superior to its opponents overall. Honor X10 has better cameras and it sits in the middle in terms of hardware, but it starts from €271/$319.

According to the retail site, the Realme V5 will go on sale on August 3 at 14:00. That is exactly a week after it launches tomorrow.

The listing includes some key specs of the device, chief of them being the processor which is the new MediaTek Dimensity 720 5G chipset. It also includes the display size which is a 6.5-inch screen with a 1080 x 2400 resolution. As we already know, the Realme V5 has a punch hole in the top left corner of its screen.

TMall says the phone will be available in two configurations – 6GB RAM + 128GB and 8GB RAM + 128GB. There will also be three color variants – Silver, Blue, and “Light of Dawn”. Other mentioned specs are 48MP quad cameras, Android 10, and Dual-SIM support.

EDITOR’S PICK: India smartphone market declined by 48% in Q2 2020, Realme slipped to the fifth position

Also, the TMall listing says the Realme V5 has model number RMX2111. A phone with the model number has already been certified by TENAA and also had its full spec sheet publicized.

The TENAA spec sheet confirms the aforementioned specs. It also reveals the quad rear cameras are a 48MP + 8MP + 2MP + 2MP configuration while the selfie camera is a 16MP sensor. There is support for storage expansion (256GB max.) and the battery capacity is 4900mAh (~5000mAh).

The images on TENAA also show the phone has a side-mounted fingerprint scanner which should mean the screen is an LCD panel.

The price of the phone is unknown but we expect it to be pretty affordable with a starting price of under $200.

But, we have some idea about what to expect.

Realme has said that the phone will be made up of a brand new material. It seems that the device will have an AG glass back with matte-finish and will feature a larger Realme branding.

Recently, RMX2111/RMX2112 5G smartphones got certified by TENNA, which reveals that the phone will come with a 6.5-inch Full HD+ LCD display with a 20:9 aspect ratio and a punch-hole cutout from the front-facing camera. Under the hood, the device may reportedly be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 800 chipset.

The device is expected to come in variants — 6GB RAM and 8GB RAM with three internal storage options — 64GB, 128GB, and 256GB. It reportedly has a microSD card slot, allowing uses to expand the storage capacity.

EDITOR’S PICK: OPPO unveils World’s Fastest 125W Flash Wired Charging and 65W AirVOOC Wireless Charging

In the camera department, the listing reveals a quad-camera setup on the back. It consists of a 48-megapixel + 8-megapixel + 2-megapixel + 2-megapixel sensors. The smartphone will be running the Android 10 with its own Realme UI on top.

It will be powered by a 5,000mAh battery and we expect some sort of fast charging solution from the company, probably 30W fast charging. As per the listing, the phone will come in four color options — Black, Gray, Green, and Silver.

From the TENAA listing, it seems that we could see Realme launch the V5 series of smartphones and just a single phone. There could be some other variants of the Realme V5 as well, including the Pro model. To know for sure, we’ll have to wait for few more days.

Recently, the 3C authority of China approved two smartphones with model numbers RMX2121 and RMX2111 / RMX2112. The images of RMX2121 appeared at TENAA last month, but the listing is yet to be populated with its specifications. It was incorrectly speculated as the upcoming Realme V5 phone. Now that the Realme RMX2111 / RMX2112 has appeared at TENAA with full specs, it can be said that it could be the forthcoming Realme V5 phone.

The RMX2121 TENAA images suggest that it has a 6.55-inch punch-hole AMOLED display with an in-screen fingerprint sensor. The screen of the device is expected to support a high refresh rate. It is rumored to house a 4,500mAh battery and its 3C certification revealed that it may ship with a 65W fast charger.

The Realme RMX2111 / RMX2112 phone that appeared on TENAA has an LCD panel with a punch-hole design. It has a side-mounted fingerprint reader. Its 3C certification revealed that it could be coming with a 30W rapid charger. The design of the Realme RMX2111 / RMX2112 matches with the appearance of the Realme V5. Hence, the upcoming V5 phone seems to have an RMX2112 / RMX2112 model number.
