Last week, Relame kickstarted Realme UI 3.0 Early Access program for Realme 8. The very same initiative is now live for the premium Realme X50 Pro 5G as well. Let’s check out how to enroll to try out the latest version of the company’s mobile operating system.

For the uninitiated, Realme UI 3.0 Early Access initiative allows select users to taste Android 12 before the software is made available for everyone. The brand has been running this program for multiple devices. One of them has also received the stable release.

Now, following the schedule, the company has started recruiting users for Realme X50 Pro. According to the official announcement post on Realme Community, applicants should be on firmware version RMX2076PUNV1B_11.C.23.

In order to registers, users need to go to Settings > Software Update > Gear Icon > Trial Version > Apply Now and submit details to finish the quiz. Candidates who get selected will receive the Android 12-based Realme UI 3.0 beta build via OTA. Whereas, others can try their luck in the next batch of recruitment.

The Realme X50 Pro 5G debuted with Realme UI based on Android 10. It was updated to Android 11-based Realme UI 2.0 at the end of 2020. Realme UI 3.0 (Android 12) will be its last major software update as the brand only promises up to two Android updates.

Realme had said that an open-beta version of Realme UI 2.0 will be available towards the end of October. Now, it has started rolling out the Realme UI 2.0 Public Beta in China. The new UI based on Android 11 is now rolling out to the users of Realme X50 Pro 5G.

The update(via ITHome) titled, “Public Beta” based on Android 11 is reportedly rolling out with a version number RMX2071_11_C.15. Now, if we look at the model number, it is RMX2071 which pertains to Realme X50 Pro 5G. Hence, we can be assured that the screenshot below is indeed a legit one. The update weighs 4.07GB and is dated November 3, 2020. You can take a look at the changelog below:

That said, the update also has improvements to the UI and its Animation. However, it also seems to have brought a few issues with it. As per the report, users have experienced slow charging, frequent frame drops/delays in the Honor of Kings game, 5G Data usage, dip in performance benchmarks, and more. Anyway, the update is sure to receive more improvements as the company tweaks it.

Realme unveiled the Realme UI 2.0 back in September. It has a lot of reminiscence to the OPPO’s ColorOS 11. While the Indian version has mentioned an “Open Beta” through application, it has rolled out a Public beta in China.

Also, apart from the X50 Pro 5G, the Realme UI 2.0 is said to reach other devices in the future. Nevertheless, Let’s wait and see if the company lives up to the promise of delivering updates on time with stability.

Recently, Pete Lau, the co-founder and CEO of OnePlus joined Oujia holdings Ltd. (OPlus) as senior vice president and chief product experience officer. With his new positions and continuing as the chief executive officer of OnePlus, he is reported to be responsible for the brand synergy between OPPO, OnePlus, and realme. Though realme clarified that Pete will play no role in the brand, OPPO patents realme X50 Pro’s design with its own branding.

There’s nothing new about this design patent, which Guangdong OPPO Mobile Telecommunications filed with the CNIPA (China National Intellectual Property Administration) on February 20 (via LetsGoDigital). Interestingly, it only got published on September 1 after approval.

For those unaware, realme X50 Pro initially debuted in India as the brand’s, as well as the country’s first 5G smartphone on February 24, four days after this phone’s design patent was filed by OPPO.

Further, this handset made its way to China in March and Europe in May. It is also available in SEA (Southeast Asia). In other words, realme X50 Pro can be bought in almost all the markets where OPPO has its presence.

Hence, though OPPO patented this phone’s design with its own branding, this will probably never see the light of the day as this very smartphone already exists in all the regions where it has its operations.

Realme confirmed today that it will be unveiling as many as 8 new products on May 25 in China. Minutes after confirming the unveil date, Realme CMO Xu Qi took to Weibo to share an image to showcase the company’s upcoming gaming-focused smartphone.

The handset shown by Xu Qi seems to be equipped with a glass rear. At the top-left corner, the smartphone features a quad camera setup. The overall design of the smartphone’s rear is almost the same as Realme X50 Pro 5G that debuted earlier this year. However, the area adjacent to the phone’s quad-camera has a slightly different appeal compared to the X50 Pro.

The right of the phone has a volume rocker and here is no side-facing fingerprint scanner which indicates that it could be coming with an in-screen fingerprint reader. The bottom edge of the phone has an external speaker, a USB-C port, a microphone, and what appears to be a SIM slot.

Xu Qi revealed that the internal codename of the device is Blade Runner. The gaming-centric handset has a model number of RMX2072, and it was recently seen at AnTuTu and 3C certification platform in China. The AnTuTu listing revealed that the phone is powered by Snapdragon 865 mobile platform, while 3C revealed that its retail package may include a 65W rapid charger.

The exact name of the above-shown smartphone is not known yet. Some have speculated that it could be the Realme X30 Pro. However, it appears to be a gaming edition of the Realme X50 Pro 5G. A trustworthy Chinese tipster has speculated that it could be Realme X50 Pro Gaming Edition.

Speculations ran high recently over the iimpending launch of three new Realme smartphones for European markets. The models touted were the Realme X50 Pro 5G, 6 Pro and Realme 5i. Well, two of the models have now been launched in Italy, signalling their debut in Europe. The models are the Realme X50 Pro 5G and Realme 6 Pro and will be available from May 18th on Realme store and Amazon.

Realme X50 Pro 5G is no doubt the star of the pack as it offers top-end specs including 5G connectivity at an affordable price point. The 5G phone sports a 6.44-inch Super AMOLED display with Full HD+ resolution and a refresh rate of 90Hz. The display is integrated with an in-display fingerprint reader.

The X50 Pro 5G is powered by the latest Snapdragon 865 chipset paired with 8 GB/12 GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 128 GB/256 GB of expandable storage. It also presents with VC Liquid Cooling to ensure smooth usage during heavy gaming.

The display on the device comes with a pill-shaped cutout for housing dual camera sensors, which includes a Sony IMX616 32-megapixel primary camera sensor with f/2.5 aperture and an 8-megapixel ultra-wide lens with 105-degree field-of-view and f/2.2 aperture.

On its part, the Realme 6 Pro is a premium mid-range device sporting a 6.6-inch IPS LCD screen. The phone has a dual punch-hole cutout which houses a 16-megapixel + 8-megapixel dual-camera setup. At the rear, there is a 64-megapixel + 12-megapixel + 8-megapixel + 2-megapixel quad-camera arrangement. The Snapdragon 720G processor fuels the device and it has a 4,300mAh battery with 30W fast charging support. The 6 Pro packs a side-mounted fingerprint reader.

Pricing & Availability

As stated earlier, the models will go on sale in Italy from May 18th. As for the prices, the Realme X50 Pro 5G will be offered in Rust Red and Moss Green colours at a base price of €599.90 for the 8GB+128 GB variant while the price will jerk up to €669.90 for the 8GB+256GB version. The topmost variant with 12GB RAM and 256 GB storage will cost €749.90.

On the other hand, the Realme 6 Pro is already available to buy on Realme’s official website but will start selling on Amazon Italia from May 18. It is currently in pre-order. As for the price, the Realme 6 Pro with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal memory is priced at €349.90. There are a few perks available on Amazon and on the official website.

The Realme 6 Pro has a 6.6-inch IPS LCD screen with a 16-megapixel + 8-megapxiel dual camera system housed inside dual punch-hole cutout. It has a 64-megapixel + 12-megapixel + 8-megapixel + 2-megapixel quad camera system. The Snapdragon 720G processor fuels the device and it has a 4,300mAh battery with 30W fast charging support. It has a side-facing fingerprint reader.

Realme 5i

The Realme 5iv has 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of built-in storage and is priced at 160 euros. Its sales are also slated to begin in mid-May.

The Realme 5i has a 6.52-inch IPS LCD display with HD+ resolution support. It has an 8-megapixel front camera and a 12-megapixel + 8-megapixel dual rear cameras. The Snapdragon 665 SoC fuels the device and it is packed with a 5,000mAh battery. It has a rear-mounted fingerprint reader.

Realme has recently rolled out a new software update for its flagship smartphone, the X50 Pro 5G. The new update brings 4K 60FPS video recording to the premium device through the April patch software update.

The new software update brings the camera upgrade alongside the new Android security patch level. As of right now, the Realme X50 Pro 5G now runs the April 2020 security patch version and features a new charging icon as well, amongst other small changes. Furthermore, the update also brought Vivid Mode to the Screen Color Mode, for the display, alongside optimizations for better network stability.

The Redmi K30 Pro is the latest flagship in town and practically the cheapest Snapdragon 865 phone at the moment. But the price is not the only thing people consider when purchasing a phone. Redmi‘s major competitor is Realme whose Realme X50 Pro 5G is also a flagship phone and one that buyers will also consider.

This post pits both devices against each other and will help you decide which one to get.

Design

Design is subjective but that doesn’t mean we cannot have opinions. Some love the pop-up selfie camera of the Redmi K30 Pro while others do not mind the pill-shaped punch hole of the Realme X50 Pro. I do not lean towards one as both are cool. However, I wish Realme used another design for the rear, so the phone stands out from its other devices. This is their top smartphone and the rear looks similar to that of its cheapest phones.

Display

The two phones have AMOLED FHD+ displays and they are high-quality E3 panels with HDR10+ certification. Redmi says their 6.67-inch screen has a peak brightness of 1200 nits while Realme’s 6.44-inch screen has a peak brightness of 1000+.

The Redmi K30 Pro’s screen misses out on the high-refresh-rate trend which means that buttery-smooth scrolling 90Hz and 120HZ displays have is missing. The Realme X50 Pro 5G, on the other hand, has a 90Hz refresh rate which is a plus for it.

Performance

Both phones are powered by the same Snapdragon 865 processor so performance should be the same, right? Not really. The base model of the Redmi K30 Pro (6GB RAM + 128GB) has LPDDR4X RAM and UFS 3.0 storage while the 8GB RAM variants have LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 storage. All the Realme X50 Pro variants have LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.0 storage.

Other than the base model of the Redmi, the phone should be faster than the Realme X50 Pro 5G with respect to app load times and general usage thanks to its faster storage.

The Redmi K30 Pro and Realme X50 Pro both have four rear cameras but of different configurations. Below are the specs of the two phones:

Reviews have revealed the Realme X50 Pro 5G isn’t the best camera phone out there. It does take decent photos but we doubt it will be able to measure up to the Sony IMX686 of the Redmi K30 Pro. Nevertheless, we won’t give a final verdict until there is a review of the Redmi flagship or a camera comparison of both phones.

Battery Capacity and Fast Charging

The Realme X50 Pro 5G has a 4200mAh battery capacity with support for 65W SuperDart Fast Charging while the Redmi K30 Pro 5G has a 4700mAh battery capacity with support for 33W fast charging.

When it comes to recharging in the shortest time possible, the Realme X50 Pro 5G is clearly the winner here as it charges from empty to full in 46 minutes according to reviews (the advertised figure is 35 minutes) while the Redmi K30 Pro 5G takes 63 minutes (advertised) to charge to full.

However, the Redmi should offer better battery life not only because it has a bigger capacity but also because it doesn’t have a high-refresh-rate display (although bigger) that consumes battery, unlike the Realme X50 Pro.

This category is somewhat a draw for both devices as you can charge one device faster while the other lasts longer on a single charge.

Other Features

The Redmi K30 Pro 5G has an audio jack, an IR blaster, and Hi-Res Audio. While the Realme X50 Pro doesn’t have an audio jack, it does have stereo speakers which the Redmi K30 Pro 5G doesn’t have. The Realme flagship also has Hi-Res Audio and Dolby Atmos.

While both phones have their own fast-charging technology, they also support Power Delivery while the Redmi K30 Pro 5G also has support for Quick Charge 4+.

Price

Redmi K30 Pro is priced as follows:

• 6GB (LPDDR4X) + 128GB – 2999 yuan (~$424)
• 8GB + 128GB – 3399 yuan (~$480)

Conclusion

The Redmi K30 Pro 5G wins hands-down based on price only. So if you are trying to spend the least amount possible on a flagship, the Redmi K30 Pro 5G is the device to get. And it does offer a lot, from support for 8K video recording to OIS in two of its cameras to a big battery. There is also an audio jack that you won’t find on a lot of flagship phones this year.

The Realme X50 Pro 5G is also an awesome choice. It has a 90Hz display, really fast charging, and stereo speakers which are pretty important features that justify the extra price you pay if you decide to choose it over the Redmi K30 Pro.

Realme had recently launched its latest premium flagship device, the Realme X50 Pro 5G. The smartphone arrived with top notch specs and features, however, the company did not launch a Master Edition. Many were curious as to why that was the case, and now we finally know for certain.

Xu Qi, the Vice President of Realme, responded to certain questions directed towards him online on Weibo, the Chinese microblogging website. The senior executive addressed the questions and said that the Master Editions of Realme smartphone require a lot of time and effort. According to his post, the Master Editions need long periods of time in terms of creative endeavors, polishing/refinement and even for research.

At the very least, it would still require the company six months of effort. This holds especially true for the handsets designed by Naoto Fukasawa. Various dots and lines can be observed in the geometric design schemes which showcase its personality as well.

The Weibo post also mentions that the Naoto Fukasawa designs every 6 months and that the company aims at releasing even “cooler” designs from different genres. Thus, it can be assumed that a Realme X50 Pro 5G Master Edition may arrive sometime in the next few months. The TENAA listing of the device reveals the smartphone’s specifications but the images of the device have not been updated. Although the phone’s name has not been mentioned, it is said to be the X50 Pro which is confirmed to launch on 12th March in China.

The Realme X50 Pro 5G launched in India last month. It will be launched in China on March 12, and according to TENAA, it may be available in a variant that is not sold in India.

The phone is available in three configurations in India – 6GB RAM + 128GB, 8GB RAM + 128GB, and 12GB RAM + 256GB. The TENAA listing shows the phone will come in three RAM versions – 6GB, 8GB, and 12GB RAM and three storage versions – 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB. Based on this, the phone may be available in 12GB RAM + 512GB.

The Realme X50 Pro 5G has a 6.44-inch Super AMOLED display with an FHD+ resolution and a punch-hole in the top left corner for two cameras. The Snapdragon 865 is the chipset inside the phone.

On the back of the phone, there is a 64MP f/1.8 primary camera, a 12MP telephoto camera with 20X hybrid zoom, an 8MP 119° ultrawide lens, and a 2MP f/2.4 portrait lens. The selfie cameras are a 32MP sensor and an 8MP 105° ultrawide angle camera.

The Realme X50 Pro also has an in-display fingerprint scanner, stereo speakers, and a 4200mAh battery with support for 65W SuperDart fast charging technology. The phone starts at INR 37,999 (~$513) and goes up to INR 44,999 (~$608).

Realme X50 Pro 5G recently got launched as the company’s first global 5G smartphone and now the phone is all set to be available in the company’s home market China. This will be the company’s second 5G phone in China, after the launch of X50 5G.

The smartphone will get launched in China on 12th March at 02:00 PM local time and will be available in two colors — Moss Green and Rust Red, same as the global variants. There are also reports about the company launching Master Edition, but to know about it, we’ll have to wait for official launch.

The smartphone comes with a 6.44-inch Super AMOLED Full HD+ display with 90Hz refresh rate. It is HDR10 complaint screen which comes integrated with an in-display fingerprint reader for added security.

Under the hood, the device is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 chipset and three options in terms of RAM —  6GB, 8GB, and 12GB as well as two internal storage choices — 128GB and 256GB.

In the camera department, there are four camera sensors stacked vertically. Thanks to several leaks and official teasers, we do not need to wait for tomorrow in order to know the main specifications of the new “affordable flagship”. It will be an AMOLED panel with a high 90 Hz refresh ratio and an in-display fingerprint reader and these are official details just like the ones listed in the design paragraph above. According to a leaked screenshot, the display will have a 20:9 aspect ratio and a Full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels. It will be a dual punch-hole display with two front cameras embedded. We still do not know the exact size of the display; Realme X50 5G is equipped with a 6.57-inch panel, but this does not mean anything.

Under the hood, Realme X50 Pro 5G will pack the most powerful Qualcomm’s chipset: we are talking about the octa-core Snapdragon 865 with a dual mode 5G modem (Snapdragon X55) supporting both sub-6 GHz frequencies and mmWave. The SoC will be paired with 12 GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 256 GB of UFS 3.0 native storage. The phone is also expected to come in more affordable configurations with less RAM and storage.

Users will find Android 10 out of the box, customized by the new Realme UI 1.0. According to leaked benchmarks, Realme X50 Pro 5G will be one of the devices with the highest performance in the whole market. On AnTuTu, the device broke every record with a total score superior to 600,000 points. However, even though Realme’s CMO Xu Qi Chase shared a screenshot with that result, AnTuTu did not confirm it. This means it might be an offline test. In a previous test, the handset scored 574,986 points.

In a promotional teaser published on the microblogging platform Weibo, the company revealed that the Realme X50 Pro 5G will come with a 64 MP quad-camera setup. The camera will feature 20x hybrid zoom support, Realme’s SAT smooth zoom technology and seamless switching between photo and video mode. The rest of the rear camera configuration is not yet confirmed.

According to rumors, the telephoto lens will come with a 13 MP resolution. On the front side, there will be a dual selfie camera including a 32 MP main sensor with UIS Max Super Video Stabilization, as confirmed on another official teaser shared on Weibo. Unfortunately, Realme did not confirm the battery capacity of the Realme X50 Pro 5G and this does not leave us optimistic about it. We expect a battery capacity superior to 4000 mAh, but it might be just slightly above that threshold. On the other hand, Realme X50 Pro 5G will be one of the fastest charging smartphones out there. It will support the new SuperDart Charge technology with a power 65W. We do not know how much time it will take for a complete charge, it will depend on the battery capacity.

Oppo Reno Ace is another device featuring a 65W fast charging technology and it brings its 4000 mAh battery from 0 to 100 percent in just 30 minutes. Blazing speeds. According to the CMO Xu Qi Chase, Realme X50 Pro 5G will ship with a 65W charger out of the box. It will be a GaN charger, so much more compact and lighter than other high speed chargers such as the one of the Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro. Since the tech show has been cancelled as a result of the novel coronavirus epidemic, the company has now revealed that the X50 Pro will be launched online. The event will be streamed live from the launch location in Madrid, Spain on February 24.

In a statement, Realme said “Since the outbreak of the novel coronavirus, realme has been concerning about the effects and working on alternatives of all possible situations, including having planned our event undertaken by our European team based in Spain without any staff from China. Keeping in light with the impact of the virus and the cancellation of MWC 2020, realme has decided to cancel the participation at MWC Barcelona 2020, accordingly”.

The statement also indicated that Realme’s VP and Chief Executive Officer of Realme India, Madhav Sheth will attend the launch. The company will also unveil its AIoT plans. Realme will soon announce the updated arrangements of realme X50 Pro 5G online launch event.

The Realme X50 Pro 5G is expected to come with Full HD+ display having a screen resolution of 2400 x 1080 pixels and 20:9 aspect ratio as well as 120Hz refresh rate. While the battery capacity is not yet known, the device is expected to come with 50W fast charging support.

After teasing that Realme will announce its 5G flagship smartphone at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain, the company has today confirmed that the Realme X50 Pro 5G flagship will be launched on 24th February.

The teaser image shared with the invite shows that the smartphone will come with a dual punch-hole cut-out for the front-facing camera and it also seems that the display will be curved towards the edges.

The company’s CMO Xu Qi Chase had recently confirmed that the Realme X50 Pro 5G will come with model number RMX2071 will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 with up to 12GB LPDDR5 RAM and up to 256GB UFS 3.0 storage. It will also come packed with the Snapdragon X55 chip for 5G network connectivity.

It has also been revealed that the phone will be running Android 10 operating system out-of-the-box with the company’s own Realme UI on top. The phone was also recently spotted on AnTuTu Benchmark, revealing scores of 574,985.

Yesterday, Realme confirmed it will be attending Mobile World Congress 2020. This will be the young smartphone maker’s first time attending one of the mobile industry’s biggest events and it plans to make a splash. One of the products it is expected to unveil is the Realme X50 Pro 5G, its first flagship phone of the year. Ahead of the launch, the company’s VP has shared a screenshot that reveals some of the phone’s key specs.

The screenshot was posted on Weibo this morning by Xu Qi Chase, the Vice President of Realme and President of Global Marketing. The screenshot confirms the device will launch as the Realme X50 Pro 5G.

The screenshot is from the about phone section of the device and it shows the device will run Realme UI version 1.0 based on Android 10. It will be powered by the Snapdragon 865 flagship processor with a Snapdragon X55 5G modem paired with it.

The Realme X50 Pro 5G will have 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 256GB of storage. The storage is most probably non-expandable but we expect there will be other configurations available. The Realme X50 Pro 5G’s model number is also revealed as RMX2071 in the image and it is shown to have dual SIM support.

There are still a lot of unknown specs such as the screen size, type and resolution; the camera configuration; and the battery capacity. Nevertheless, these details may surface before the launch which is still a few weeks away.
