Earlier this year, Nubia launched the Red Magic 7 series of gaming smartphones in China. The vanilla Red Magic 7 was later released globally. Now, the company has started sending press invites for the global launch event of a new device.

It is believed that this new device is Red Magic 7 Pro and it will make its global debut on April 12.

Red Magic 7 Pro specs and features

The Red Magic 7 Pro comes with a 6.8-inch Full HD+ OLED display with a 165Hz refresh rate support. The panel also gets 100 percent DCI P3 color gamut, 10-bit color, DC dimming, and more. It also features an in-display fingerprint sensor, which supports heart rate monitoring as well.

The device is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC but paired with up to 18GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 1TB of internal storage. With virtual expansion, it can even hit 24GB of total RAM.

Additionally, the Red Magic 7 Pro comes with the Red Core 1 chipset. This is a dedicated chip that has been designed to enhance the gaming experience on its latest flagship device. For gaming, the device also offers shoulder triggers as well, which paired with the Red Core 1, offer a 500Hz touch sampling rate. This chipset will also help enhance audio on the 7 series.

To keep things cool, the device is fitted with the ICE 8.0 cooling system that includes an RGB fan that spins at 20,000 rpm. It also houses nine heat dissipation materials as well, like a large VC liquid cooling plate.

For photography, it features the same 64-megapixel triple camera setup, along with an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens and a 2-megapixel macro sensor. On the front, it sports a 16-megapixel selfie shooter under the display. It runs on a large 5,000mAh battery pack that offers 135W fast charging that enables it to charge from 0 to 100 percent in just 15 minutes.

Other features include an accelerometer, gyro, proximity, compass, USB Type C, Bluetooth 5.2, WiFi 6, dual stereo speakers, 3 microphones, and a 3.5 mm headphone jack as well.

The Red Magic Dark Knight edition was launched in China at 4,799 Yuan ($757) for the 12GB + 128GB variant.

Chinese smartphone giant Nubia has taken the lid off the Nubia Red Magic 7 smartphone for the global market. The Red Magic 7 was first unveiled in China last week alongside the Red Magic 7 Pro. However, the Red Magic 7 Pro won’t be going on sale immediately to buyers outside China. Instead, the premium Pro model will be released in the second quarter of 2022.

The global variant of the Red Magic 7 is very similar to the China model but one major difference between the variants is that the China version was released with a 120W fast charging but the global version only has support for 65W.

Apart from the charging speed, the global variant is the same as the China version. To recall, the Red Magic 7 features a 6.8-inch AMOLED screen with a 1080p resolution and 100% DCI-P3 color gamut coverage. The display also comes with support for a 165Hz refresh rate and up to 720Hz.

The device is powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC paired with a super-generous 18GB RAM. There is also 12GB RAM and 16GB RAM variants. The phone is available in 128GB and 256GB storage options.

The Nubia Red Magic 7 starts at $629 (€629, £529) for the 12GB RAM and 128GB storage version and is available in Obsidian Black. The 16GB RAM + 256GB storage version comes in a colorful Blue-Red-Purple Pulsar hue and is priced at $729 (€729, £619). Finally, the top variant with 18GB RAM and 256GB storage known as the Supernova version will retail for $799 (€799, £679). This version features a semi-transparent back.

The Red Magic 7 will go on sale globally on March 10 in several countries across the globe including the United Kingdom, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Lithuania, Croatia, Luxembourg, the Republic of Cyprus, Czechia, Netherlands, Denmark, Poland, Estonia, Portugal, Finland, Romania, France, Slovakia, Germany, Slovenia, Greece, Spain, Sweden, Ireland, Hungary, Italy, Latvia, Malta. The phone will also go on sale in Canada, the United States, Australia, Hong Kong (China SAR), Indonesia, Macau (China SAR), Philippines, Vietnam, Singapore, Israel, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Mexico, Peru, and Chile.
