<p>As we enter the month of September, benchmarking platform AnTuTu has shared a list of top-performing smartphones over the previous month. To no one&#8217;s surprise, the list is topped by the recently launched <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/zte-nubia-red-magic-9s-pro-plus/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Red Magic 9S Pro+</a>, which features an overclocked Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, also called the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 &#8220;Leading Version&#8221;.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="800" height="800" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/09/Red-Magic-9S-Pro-Plus.png?x44794" alt="Red Magic 9S Pro Plus" class="wp-image-648315" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/09/Red-Magic-9S-Pro-Plus.png 800w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/09/Red-Magic-9S-Pro-Plus-300x300.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/09/Red-Magic-9S-Pro-Plus-150x150.png 150w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/09/Red-Magic-9S-Pro-Plus-768x768.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/09/Red-Magic-9S-Pro-Plus-696x696.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/09/Red-Magic-9S-Pro-Plus-420x420.png 420w" sizes="(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px" /></figure>

<p>The second place goes to the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2024/06/27/oneplus-ace-3-pro-officially-announced/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">OnePlus Ace 3 Pro</a> (<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2024/07/05/oneplus-ace-3-pro-review-the-imperfect-flagship-killer/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">review</a>), which is an interesting addition since it is more of a flagship killer powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip, rather than a full-fledged flagship smartphone. Even the third-place <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2024/07/11/iqoo-neo-9s-pro-plus-launched-in-china/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">iQOO Neo 9S Pro+</a> only costs around $412 (CNY 2,999), while scoring over 2.1 million points on average on AnTuTu, which makes it an attractive device for buyers looking for the most performance without breaking the bank. You can find the complete list of top-performing devices below. </p>

<p>MediaTek&#8217;s Dimensity 9300+ powered devices that were usually seen in the top three if not the first place have been significantly outperformed by their Qualcomm counterparts. The iQOO Neo 9S Pro and the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2024/07/19/redmi-k70-ultra-launch-china/3/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Redmi K70 Ultra Edition</a> powered by the Dimensity 9300+ are both relatively affordable smartphones for the performance they offer.</p>

<p>That said, MediaTek is planning to launch its next-generation Dimensity 9400 in <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2024/08/24/mediatek-prepares-early-release-for-dimensity-9400-phones-expected-in-mid-october/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">mid-October</a>, with flagship smartphones like the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/vivo-x200/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Vivo X200</a> series or <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/oppo-find-x8/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Oppo Find X8 series</a> expected to be the early adopters. As for the performance gains, the Dimensity 9400 is rumored to improve by 30% in single-core performance compared to the Dimensity 9300 and offer <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2024/08/27/mediatek-dimensity-9400-claimed-to-pack-pc-level-ray-tracing-capabilities/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">&#8220;PC-level&#8221; ray tracing</a> capabilities.</p>

<p>The <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/red-magic-9s-pro/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Red Magic 9S Pro</a> was <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2024/07/03/red-magic-9s-pro-series-launched-china/6/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">launched</a> just a couple of days ago in China and is finally on sale. The series includes two models &#8211; Red Magic 9S Pro and Red Magic 9S Pro+. The two of them only differ from each other in battery capacity and charging speed.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="578" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/66820ba2b18e393-1024x578.jpg?x44794" alt="RED MAGIC 9S Pro plus" class="wp-image-636106" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/66820ba2b18e393-1024x578.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/66820ba2b18e393-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/66820ba2b18e393-768x433.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/66820ba2b18e393-1536x866.jpg 1536w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/66820ba2b18e393-2048x1155.jpg 2048w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/66820ba2b18e393-696x393.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/66820ba2b18e393-1068x602.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/66820ba2b18e393-1920x1083.jpg 1920w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/66820ba2b18e393-745x420.jpg 745w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p>The pricing <strong>starts from 4,799 yuan</strong> (equivalent to $660) and the phone is now available in the home country. Different color variants of the two models come with slightly different price tags.</p>

<p>Starting with the Red Magic 9S Pro, the &#8216;Dark Knight&#8217; and &#8216;Day Warrior&#8217; color options are priced at 4,799 Yuan and 5,199 Yuan for the 256GB and 512GB color options respectively. On the other hand, the &#8216;Deuterium front transparent Silver Wing&#8217; and &#8216;Deuterium Front Transparent Dark Night&#8217; are priced at 4,999 Yuan and 5,399 Yuan for the same configurations.</p>

<p>Speaking of the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/red-magic-9s-pro-plus/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Red Magic 9S Pro+</a>, the &#8216;Dark Knight&#8217; and &#8216;Day Warrior&#8217; color variants are priced at 5,799 Yuan for the 16GB + 512GB configuration. The &#8216;Deuterium front transparent Silver Wing&#8217; and &#8216;Deuterium Front Transparent Dark Night&#8217; variants with the same configuration are priced at 5,999 Yuan.</p>

<p>Notably, the 24GB+1TB variant of the Red Magic 9S Pro+ is only available in the &#8216;Dark Knight&#8217; color.</p>

<p>Both the phones offer 6.8&#8243; AMOLED displays that reach a peak brightness of 1600 nits. Both the models also have the exact same dimension, which is 163.89mm x 76.35mm x 8.9mm.</p>

<h3>AI Features for Gaming</h3>

<p>The Red Magic 9S Pro series aims to improve mobile gaming with an upgraded Game Space, featuring new AI-driven capabilities. These new and improved features are packed into the REDMAGIC 9.5 operating system (based on Android 14).</p>

<p>One standout feature is Smart Navigator, which offers real-time suggestions for popular games and includes voice typing for quick questions. For those who like to customize their controls, the AI Trigger allows gamers to set personalized actions for the shoulder buttons, enabling the phone to automatically recognize and execute moves based on your playstyle.</p>

<p>Sound Recognition is another impressive addition, automatically identifying in-game sounds to aid decision-making during gameplay. REDMAGIC Moments streamlines content creation by capturing and editing screenshots and clips on the fly, even converting highlights into wallpapers for your game lobby.</p>

<p>The AI Assistant has also received a significant upgrade, now featuring voice-activated functions and a dynamic, game-themed display. Improved scene recognition leads to more accurate AI responses within games, ensuring a more seamless experience. Additionally, the REDMAGIC Cube serves as an in-game hub, offering a variety of AI tools such as photo editing, wallpaper creation, and writing assistance.</p>

<h3>Display and Camera</h3>

<p>The Red Magic 9S Pro series has a 6.8-inch Full HD+ OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and a 960Hz touch sampling rate for responsive touch controls. The display offers bright colors and clear visibility, even in bright conditions thanks to its 1600 nits of peak brightness. It also reduces eye strain during long gaming sessions.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="578" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/66824a590038e49-1024x578.jpg?x44794" alt="RED MAGIC 9S Pro series" class="wp-image-636107" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/66824a590038e49-1024x578.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/66824a590038e49-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/66824a590038e49-768x433.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/66824a590038e49-1536x866.jpg 1536w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/66824a590038e49-2048x1155.jpg 2048w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/66824a590038e49-696x393.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/66824a590038e49-1068x602.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/66824a590038e49-1920x1083.jpg 1920w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/66824a590038e49-745x420.jpg 745w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p>The phone&#8217;s camera setup includes three cameras on the back: a 50MP main sensor (Samsung GN5), a 50MP ultra-wide sensor (Samsung JN1), and a 2MP macro camera (GigaDevice GC02M1). The front camera is a 16MP under-display camera for selfies and video calls.</p>

<h3>Strong Performance</h3>

<p>The Red Magic 9S Pro &amp; Pro+ use the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 Leading Version processor (essentially an overclocked version), offering excellent power for demanding games. Both include up to 24GB of LPDDR5X RAM, which helps with smooth multitasking and fast data processing. Storage options range from 256GB to 1TB, giving plenty of space for games and media.</p>

<h3>Better Cooling</h3>

<p>To keep the phone cool during long gaming sessions, the Red Magic 9S Pro series has the ICE 13.5 cooling system. This includes a large 10182mm² single-layer vapor chamber plate, a high-speed fan spinning at 22,000 rpm, and a new cooling gel. These features help maintain performance without overheating.</p>

<h3>Battery and Charging</h3>

<p>The Red Magic 9S Pro series offers two battery options. The standard 9S Pro model has a 6500mAh battery and supports 80W fast charging, while the 9S Pro+ version comes with a 5,500mAh battery, paired with 165W fast charging.</p>

<p>The Red Magic 9S Pro is all set to debut <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2024/06/24/red-magic-9s-pro-launching-on-july-3-could-be-first-snapdragon-8-gen-3-leading-version-phone/">on July 3 in China</a>. Ahead of the launch, a <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/nubia">Nubia</a> phone with NX769S_V2A has appeared on AnTuTu. It appears that the variant that has appeared on the benchmarking platform will have the Red Magic 9S Pro+ marketing name. It is likely that the other variants of the phone may have the Red Magic 9S Pro branding. Here is a look at the details that have emerged through the AnTuTu listing of the Pro+ model.</p>

<h3><strong>Red Magic 9S Pro+ AnTuTu listing</strong></h3>

<div class="wp-block-image is-style-default"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="585" height="1024" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/Red-Magic-9S-Pro-Plus-AnTuTu-585x1024.jpg?x44794" alt="Red Magic 9S Pro Plus AnTuTu" class="wp-image-634963" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/Red-Magic-9S-Pro-Plus-AnTuTu-585x1024.jpg 585w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/Red-Magic-9S-Pro-Plus-AnTuTu-171x300.jpg 171w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/Red-Magic-9S-Pro-Plus-AnTuTu-696x1219.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/Red-Magic-9S-Pro-Plus-AnTuTu-240x420.jpg 240w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/Red-Magic-9S-Pro-Plus-AnTuTu.jpg 700w" sizes="(max-width: 585px) 100vw, 585px" /><figcaption>Red Magic 9S Pro Plus AnTuTu listing</figcaption></figure></div>

<p>The Red Magic 9S Pro+ AnTuTu listing identifies its chipset as the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. However, the brand has already confirmed that it will have <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2024/06/26/red-magic-9s-pro-snapdragon-8-gen-3-leading-version/">the overlocked Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 Leading Version chipset</a>. The chipset configuration includes 1 x 3.39GHz Cortex-X4, 3 x 2.96GHz Cortex-A720, 2 x 2.2GHz Cortex-A520, and 2 x 1.1GHz Cortex-A720 cores. In comparison, the regular Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 offers a maximum speed of 3.3GHz and slightly slower GPU performance.</p>

<p>The listing confirms that the device comes with a 120Hz display, 24 GB of LPDDR5x RAM, 1 TB of UFS 4.0 storage, and Android 14. As mentioned above, the 24GB+1TB variant may have the Pro+ branding, whereas the other variants could have the Red Magic 9S Pro name.</p>

<p>The Red Magic 9S Pro+ scored 485,3643 points in the CPU test, 979,908 points in the GPU test, 507,149 in the memory test, and 397,122 points in the UX test. Additionally, the Red Magic 9S Pro equipped with 16 GB of RAM, Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 Leading Version, and Android 14 has also been spotted at Geekbench. The device scored 2319 and 7215 in the single-core and multi-core tests of Geekbench 6, respectively.</p>

The other specs of the phone are likely to remain identical to those of the Red Magic 9 series. On July 3, Nubia will also announce <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2024/06/20/red-magic-gaming-laptop-launch-date-china/">a new gaming laptop</a>.</p>
