Red Magic is known for its gaming smartphones and accessories. The brand held an event in China today where it unveiled various devices. Among them, the company announced its entry into the laptop segment with its first-ever offering called the Red Magic Gaming Laptop 16 Pro. It packs powerful specifications and features making it ideal for serious gamers. Read on to learn what the device offers out of the box. 

Red Magic Gaming Laptop 16 Pro specifications and features

The Red Magic Gaming Laptop 16 Pro boasts a series 6 aviation-grade aluminium alloy chassis. The lid of the device has a minimal design with the brand’s RGB logo. It features a customizable RGB backlit keyboard that also has a dedicated number pad. The power button doubles up as a fingerprint scanner. The back of the machine is home to a number of ports including power input, USB-C, USB-A, HDMI, and an Ethernet port. There are also USB 3.2 Gen1 and Gen2 ports on both sides. The laptop is just 13mm thin and weighs 2.4 kg.

On the display front, the Red Magic Gaming laptop features a large 16-inch display surrounded by thin bezels. It bears a 2.5K resolution, a 240Hz refresh rate, 500 nits peak brightness, and a 100 percent DCI-P3 colour gamut for an immersive visual experience. There are Harman Kardon-powered speakers with Dolby Atmos. The laptop has a 1080p IR webcam with a privacy shutter. 

Underneath the hood, the Red Magic Gaming Laptop 16 Pro houses up to 14th generation Intel Core i9 processor. It is offered in NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 and 4070 8GB GDDR6 GPU options with support for ray tracing. The machine packs up to 32GB LPDDR5x RAM and 1TB SSD storage. The laptop has a robust heat dissipation system comprising a 3D ice-sealed heat pipe and dual fans. It draws its power from an 80Wh battery unit with support for 100W fast charging. 

The Red Magic Gaming Laptop 16 Pro starts at CNY 10,999 (~$1,512) for the base 16GB + 1TB variant. Meanwhile, the 32GB + 1TB configuration carries a price tag of CNY 13,299 (~$1,828). The device is offered in Dark Knight and Glacier Silver color options.

Earlier this month, it was confirmed that Red Magic is foraying into the laptop segment. Now, the brand has officially revealed the launch date of its first-ever gaming laptop in China. It is set to debut next month. Red Magic has also shared a few teasers on its official Weibo handle confirming key details about the upcoming offering. 

Red Magic Gaming laptop launch date announced 

The Red Magic Gaming laptop is set to launch in China on July 3 at 7 pm local time. The brand teased some key details in separate Weibo posts. One of the images suggests that the laptop will come with AI features. It is seen with narrow bezels surrounding the display. 

The Red Magic Gaming laptop is confirmed to be powered by a 14th-generation Intel Core i9 processor. It will also be equipped with a NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 GPU onboard. This should ensure a powerful performance. We can also expect the laptop to be announced in another hardware configuration. Notably, the aforementioned hardware details are in line with the upcoming offering’s Geekbench listing. The database also revealed 16GB RAM. 

This is everything that Red Magic has officially revealed about its first laptop at the moment. We can expect more details in the days leading up to the launch event. 

As per the 3C certification listing, the Red Magic Gaming laptop will come with support for 280W charging made by BYD. It has also passed Bluetooth, WiFi, and CMIIT certifications. The device is expected to feature an RGB backlit logo on the lid. 

For those unaware, Red Magic already offers peripherals like gaming mouse, keyboards, and monitors. The brand recently announced the Gaming Mouse 1S and Mechanical Keyboard 1S aimed at gamers. Both come with RGB lightning and a range of features with the keyboard also having a 1.47-inch display.
