Xiaomi has just started deploying a fresh HyperOS update for two Redmi branded devices. These updates bring the latest iteration of HyperOS 2 to the Redmi 13 and Redmi Pad 2 Pro, bringing performance optimizations and system refinements. So here’s what we know.

Redmi Pad 2 Pro & Redmi 13 Get New HyperOS Patch

Following China’s National Day Golden Week of holidays, the Chinese tech giant started rolling out the latest HyperOS 3.0.17.0 update for the Xiaomi 17 Pro series. Alongside the latest flagship devices, Xiaomi also brought a new update to some Redmi devices, but this is not the latest HyperOS 3. The Redmi Pad 2 Pro and Redmi 13 got the new HyperOS 2.0.202.0 software upgrade.

So this is an incremental update that likely brings minor refinements and system optimizations. Based on the company’s official HyperOS 3 roadmap, the Redmi Pad 2 Pro and Redmi 13 are planned to get the Android 16 OS based update sometime between November and December 2025 as a part of the second wave. Meaning, this could be the last HyperOS 2 update before the brand moves these devices to the latest software iteration.

To recall, the Redmi Pad 2 Pro debuted globally with a 2.5K 120Hz display, Snapdragon 7s Gen 4, and a 12000mAh battery pack last month. Meanwhile, the budget Redmi 13 smartphone launched in India with a 6.79-inch FHD+ 120Hz display, Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 AE, and a 108MP primary camera back in July. The specs of the Redmi 13 4G were leaked nearly 1.5 months ago. Now, a new leak by 91Mobiles has revealed the official renders, pricing, and more of the device. All of this suggests that the smartphone will be launched soon. The previous generation Redmi 12 made a splash with record sales. Especially selling well in India, the Redmi 12 is now making way for the Redmi 13.

Redmi 13 Design & Price

The Redmi 13 shares a similar design language with the Redmi 12, and in fact, the two devices are expected to be largely identical. On the processor side, the Redmi 13 is expected to be powered by the Helio G88, codenamed MT6768. However, MediaTek’s newly launched Helio G91 for 2024 could also be used in the Redmi 13. Regardless of whether it’s the Helio G91 or Helio G88, both chips are nearly identical and offer no significant improvements. Therefore, the Redmi 13 is expected to perform very similarly to the Redmi 12.

In addition to the processor, the Redmi 13 also offers little improvement over the Redmi 12 in terms of display, camera, and fast charging. However, we have learned that the smartphone will come with a new 108MP camera sensor compared to the 50MP camera on the Redmi 12. This camera sensor is expected to take good photos in well-lit environments, but you shouldn’t expect much from night photos.

The Redmi 13 is rumored to come in two variants: 6GB RAM / 128GB storage and 8GB RAM / 256GB storage. The base variant is expected to be priced at €199, while the top-of-the-line Redmi 13 model is said to have a price tag of €229. We don’t have any other information at this time.

Xiaomi is working on a new HyperOS-powered phone called the Redmi 13. The device was recently spotted on various certification platforms. Now, it has surfaced on two more major platforms, which hints at its imminent launch.

Redmi 13 spotted on IMDA & EEC

The Chinese tech giant’s upcoming Redmi 13 was previously spotted on the FCC and IMEI databases. It was seen carrying the 24049RN28L model number on both platforms. But on IMDA and EEC, this smartphone surfaced with the 2404ARN45A model number. Unfortunately, the latest sightings did not reveal any other details regarding the Redmi 13 apart from this model number. But it does hint at the official announcement being right around the corner.

The IMEI listing confirmed the Redmi 13 moniker while the FCC certification confirmed the HyperOS 1.0 custom skin, which is based on Android 14. The latter also revealed that it will be powered by a 4,930mAh rated battery capacity that will likely have a 5,000mAh typical capacity. This battery supports up to 33W wired fast charging as well. Just a week ago, a fresh report confirmed some exclusive info about the Redmi 13.

Xiaomi is apparently referring to the handset with the codename “moon” and model numbers “N19A/C/E/L.” Some versions of this device will support NFC while others will ship without it. The model numbers of the different variants were also revealed, namely 2404ARN45A, 2404ARN45I, 24040RN64Y, and 24049RN28L. Based on what we know so far, the Redmi 13 might be a rebranded POCO M6, which is a budget-grade model. Although, we still have no official word about this, so take this news with a pinch of salt for now.

Xiaomi’s new Redmi 13 phone is on its way. It’s been tested by the FCC and people are excited for it. The Redmi 12 series sold really well, so there’s a lot of anticipation for the Redmi 13. Android Headlines has some exclusive info about what the Redmi 13 will be like. Are you curious about how it compares to the Redmi 12?

Redmi 13

The Redmi 13 is Xiaomi’s new affordable phone. People were hoping for some improvements, like a better chip and camera, but it seems the Redmi 13 will be pretty similar to the Redmi 12. It’s confirmed to have a MediaTek Helio G88 chip. This info comes from Xiaomi’s HyperOS, so it’s reliable.

Internally, it’s called “moon” with model numbers “N19A/C/E/L.” The Redmi 12 had the model number “M19A,” so they’re following a pattern. The Redmi 13 will be sold globally and in India.

The model numbers like “2404ARN45A” and “2404ARN45I” tell us where the phone will be sold. Some versions will have NFC, while others won’t. For example, “24040RN64Y” is for the global market with NFC, while “2404ARN45A” is without NFC. The “2404ARN45I” is for India, and “24049RN28L” is for Latin America.

Xiaomi is also releasing the POCO M6, which is basically the same as the Redmi 13. It’s confirmed by Xiaomi’s HyperOS. The POCO M6 will be available globally and in India. Both phones will run the same software and have minor differences, like design changes.

The Redmi 13 will give a similar experience to the Redmi 12. It’ll come with Android 14-based HyperOS 1.0. We don’t know the exact release date yet.

Redmi 13 visits the FCC & IMEI database

The Chinese tech giant’s upcoming smartphone was spotted on the FCC and IMEI certifications. It was seen carrying the 24049RN28L model number on both platforms, while the IMEI listing confirmed its official Redmi 13 moniker. Based on the FCC certification, the Redmi 13 will also run on the brand’s newly unveiled HyperOS 1.0 custom skin, which is based on the Android 14 OS.

Furthermore, the Redmi 13 smartphone is set to debut with the Bluetooth 5.3 standard. It is listed with a 4,930mAh rated battery capacity that will likely have a 5,000mAh typical capacity. This battery pack was certified with support for 33W wired fast charging. Unfortunately, the two certifications did not reveal any other finer details regarding this smartphone like its specifications and design. But based on its name we can expect it to be a direct successor to the Redmi 12 that launched back in 2023.

Back in December 2023, Xiaomi had also unveiled the Redmi 13C model in the Indian market. This model launched with the Dimensity 6100 SoC, 6.74-inch 90Hz HD+ display, 50MP primary camera, and more; while the Redmi 12 offered Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 (5G variant), 50MP triple cameras, and 6.79-inch 90Hz FHD+ display. So we can expect the Redmi 13 to offer similar hardware with some improvements.
