Xiaomi has launched the Redmi 15C 5G in India, expanding its lineup of affordable 5G smartphones. The device was first introduced in select European markets and is now making its way to Indian consumers.

Redmi 15C 5G Specifications

Redmi 15C 5G features a 6.9-inch HD+ Dot Drop display with 1600 x 720 resolution, a 20:9 aspect ratio, and a 120Hz refresh rate for smoother visuals. The screen reaches 660 nits typical brightness and 810 nits in HBM, staying readable outdoors. It also includes TÜV Rheinland Low Blue Light, Flicker Free, and Circadian Friendly certifications, supported by DC dimming for better eye comfort.

Under the hood, the phone is powered by the 6nm MediaTek Dimensity 6300 5G chipset and a Mali G57 MC2 GPU. It comes in 4GB, 6GB, and 8GB LPDDR4X RAM options, each paired with 128GB UFS 2.2 storage. Memory can be expanded up to 1TB via a dedicated microSD card slot, and RAM can be virtually extended up to 16GB using memory extension.

The device runs Xiaomi’s HyperOS 2 based on Android 15. Xiaomi has committed to providing 2 years of OS updates and 4 years of security patches, promising a reliable long-term software experience.

The 15C comes with a dual-camera setup on the back, led by a 50MP main sensor with an f/1.8 aperture. It supports Ultra HD mode, night mode, portrait mode, and time-lapse photography. On the front, there’s an 8MP camera housed within the notch for selfies and video calls. Both cameras support up to 1080p video recording at 30fps.

Coming to the battery life, the phone features a large 6000mAh battery, which Xiaomi claims can deliver up to 107 hours of music playback and more than 28 hours of social media browsing. The phone supports 33W fast charging, and a 33W charger is included in the box. It also features 10W wired reverse charging, allowing the device to power other gadgets on the go.

The 15C also includes IP64-rated dust and water resistance, a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. It supports dual SIM cards and a microSD card simultaneously, Bluetooth 5.4, dual-band Wi-Fi, FM radio, and a USB Type-C port.

Pricing and Availability

Pricing for the Redmi 15C 5G starts at Rs. 12,499 (~$137) for the 4GB + 128GB variant. The 6GB + 128GB model is listed at Rs. 13,999 (~$154), and the 8GB + 128GB version costs Rs. 15,499 (~$170).

The phone comes in Dusk Purple, Moonlight Blue, and Midnight Black, with sales beginning on December 11 through Amazon.in, mi.com, and Xiaomi’s offline stores.

Redmi is reportedly gearing up to launch the Redmi Note 15 series in multiple markets, including India. A new leak, courtesy of tipster Abhishek Yadav, has not only revealed its launch timeframe for the country but also its sale date. Here’s a look at the details shared by the tipster.

Redmi Note 15 series launch timeframe, sale date

According to the tipster, the Redmi Note 15 series will debut in December in India. He added that the series will be available for purchase starting Jan. 9 in the country.

While he did not go into the specifics of the Redmi Note 15 models, it is believed that the Note 15, 15 Pro and 15 Pro+ heading to the country, as well as other markets, will be slightly different from their Chinese counterparts, which debuted a couple of months ago.

Redmi 15C 5G launching this month

The leak mentions that the Redmi 15C 5G will debut later this month in India. It will arrive as an entry-level 5G phone positioned lower than the already available Redmi 15 5G. The 15C is expected to cost around Rs 12,000 in the country.

Redmi flagships to make a comeback

The tipster also claimed that Redmi will introduce a new series similar to the K-series available in China. The new lineup will focus on offering flagship performance. However, the tipster is not 100 percent sure about this leak and suggests waiting for an official announcement.

Redmi hasn’t launched a flagship phone in India after the Redmi K20 lineup, which debuted way back in 2019. While it brought back the K-series to the country with the Redmi K50i in 2022, it hasn’t launched a K-series model after that. Since Redmi is expected to announce the Note 15 series next month, an official announcement on the flagship series may only come after this launch.

REDMI is widening its budget lineup with the Redmi 15C 5G, now available across several European countries. The phone follows the 4G version that landed earlier this month, but adds faster connectivity while keeping the familiar design and big battery that made its predecessor popular.

Retail listings in Poland, France, Spain, and Hungary confirm the new model. Prices start at around €150 for 4GB RAM and 128GB storage, while the 256GB version costs a little more. That’s only a slight bump from the 4G edition, which is still selling for about €130 in some markets.

The key change here is the processor. REDMI has swapped the older Helio G81 Ultra for MediaTek’s Dimensity 6300. It’s built on a 6nm process, with two performance cores at 2.4GHz and six efficiency cores at 2.0GHz. It’s not a powerhouse, but it should run daily apps and light games better while sipping less power.

Most of the hardware is carried over. There’s still a 6.9-inch LCD screen with a 120Hz refresh rate, along with a 6,000mAh battery that supports 33W charging (though no charger is included in the box). The camera setup is modest: a 50MP main sensor on the back and an 8MP selfie shooter in the front notch.

Other details include IP64 splash protection, NFC in certain regions, a headphone jack, and a side-mounted fingerprint reader.

The Redmi 15C 5G may not feel new to anyone who’s seen the 4G model, but for buyers after a cheap 5G phone with strong battery life, it looks like another solid option in REDMI’s growing lineup.
