I use a Redmi Note 6 Pro and still check daily if Xiaomi has pushed the new MIUI 11 update to the model. Surprisingly, users of the Redmi 4 in India have reportedly started receiving MIUI 11 update and have even shared evidence online. Apart from the fact that it is MIUI 11, there is nothing spectacular to cheer about this update.

The screenshot shared by a Redmi 4 user shows that the new update comes with the version number MIUI 11.0.2.0.NAMMIXM. It also shows the update file is 483MB large. Interestingly, this new update doesn’t bring a change in the Android version as the Redmi 4 still runs the outdated Android 7.1.2 (Nougat). It also brings along the October 2018 Android security patch that Google released more than a year ago.

EDITOR’S PICK: Xiaomi’s new 55 °C Warm up Cup is also a 10W wireless charger

The changelog shared by some users on the MIUI forum shows the MIUI 11 brings improved touch controls and refined colour usage to deliver a fresh experience. The update also carries sound effects influenced by nature. The update is also expected to enhance the user experience by offering a minimalistic design. Other features include an always-on lock screen and Dynamic Video Wallpapers.

With this price cut, the 3GB RAM model of the Redmi 4 will now cost Rs. 8,499 while the 4GB RAM model costs Rs. 10,499.

The base model of the series, which comes with 2GB RAM and 16GB internal storage has not received any price cut and will continue to be available at Rs. 6,999. The Redmi 4 series is available for purchase in India through Amazon and the company’s own online store.

The announcement regarding this price cut was made by the company through Twitter. While the company said that the new pricing will be applicable on Mi.com and Amazon India, it is not clear if the revised pricing will be applicable to offline channels or not.

Xiaomi Redmi 4 was launched in India last year to counter the offerings from rivals in the budget segment. The phone features a 5-inch HD display with 720 × 1280 pixels screen resolution and 2.5D curved glass protection on top.

Under the hood, the smartphone is powered by a 1.4GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 435 processor. The 2GB RAM model comes with 16GB of internal storage, while the 3GB RAM and 4GB RAM model packs 32GB and 64GB of internal storage respectively.

All three models come with microSD card support, which enables the user to further expand the phone’s storage capacity. Coming to the camera department, the phone has a 13-megapixel rear camera with an LED flash while on the front, it features a 5-megapixel snapper for taking selfies and video calling. The phone runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow based MIUI 8 out-of-the-box and is backed by a 4,100mAh battery.

The company began the roll out of the MIUI 9 Global Stable ROM from November. Xiaomi’s Global VP and Managing Director for India confirmed on Twitter earlier this week on the list of Xiaomi phones that are eligible to receive the MIUI 9 update. The eligible devise list reveals that even four-year old phones such as Mi 3 and Redmi 1S will be treated with the MIUI 9 update.

Recently, it was revealed that Xiaomi is the most preferred brand in India, overtaking Apple and Samsung to the top spot. That preference has reflected in the sales of the Xiaomi Redmi 4 which was launched in India recently. Xiaomi India has now revealed that the company sold over a million Redmi 4 units in just 30 days. This revelation was made by Manu Jain, Xiaomi India’s Managing Director via his Twitter handle.

If we are to trace the history of Xiaomi products in India, then it will be better understood why these sales figures are encouraging. Just a few months back, the Redmi Note 4 went up on sales and the product sales crossed 1 million units in 45 days. The number of days needed to surpass the 1 million mark has further shrunken which further shows the fast growing popularity of the Xiaomi brand.

The Xiaomi Redmi 4 is a budget smartphone which was launched in November last year but was launched in India mid-May. The model sports a 5-inch display with 1080 pixel resolution. On the other hand, the base model features a Snapdragon 435 processor and is equipped with 2GB of RAM as well as 16GB of internal storage with a price tag of Rs 6,999. A topmost 4GB + 64GB version with same SoC will go on sale by the end of June. All versions have microSD slots for expansion of the internal storage and pack a large 4,100mAh battery which is enough to ensure some extended hours of usage. You can check out our Redmi 4 Review to know more about the model that has shattered records in India.

In the first quarter of this year, Xiaomi sold 13 million smartphones and in the second quarter, the company is expected to exceed more than 20 million units.

The substantial increase in sales is not only because of the high popularity of Xiaomi Mi 6 flagship phone in the home country of China but also because of the stupendous popularity of mid-range smartphones such as Redmi Note 4, Redmi 4A and Redmi 4 in the Indian market.

Today, Kevin Wang has again claimed that the sales of Xiaomi phones in this month has been even more impressive. He has revised statement on second quarter sales. Previously, he had stated that Xiaomi may sell more than 20 million units in Q2 and his today’s Weibo post states that Xiaomi is expected to sell 23 million units in this quarter. Moreover, he has also forecasted that Xiaomi may sell 28 million smartphones in the third quarter of 2017. Here is the Weibo post:

Considering the fact that Xiaomi recorded a sale of only 13 million units in Q1, the company seems to have rebounded very well in this quarter. Xiaomi is expected to continue to impressive sales till the end of the year as it is rumored to launch couple of “start products” in the remaining half of the year. It seems that it won’t be difficult for the company to cross 80 million units sales mark by the end of 2017.

Rumors have it that Xiaomi has several smartphones lined up to release in this year. The Redmi Pro 2 is speculated as the first Snapdragon 660 chipset driven phone from the company. It is also rumored to be the cheapest smartphone with full-screen display design like Galaxy S8. Speculations also suggest that Xiaomi Mi 6 Plus may debut soon.

The Xiaomi Mi Note 3 and Mi MIX 2 are also some of the most awaited smartphones from the Chinese firm this year. Also, before the end of the year, Xiaomi is also pegged to announce the budget-friendly Redmi 5 and Redmi Note 5 smartphones in China.

Xiaomi could generate such a huge revenue through the sales of various Xiaomi devices such as Redmi 4, Redmi 4A, Redmi Note 4, Mi VR Play, Mi Air Purifier 2, Mi Router 3C and Mi Band 2. No other smartphone company has managed to achieve such a milestone in the country. The Chinese firm revealed that the Redmi 4 and Redmi 4A accounted for major sales among other Xiaomi products.

Manu Jain, the Vice President and Managing Director of Xiaomi said,” It was an extremely emotional day for all of us at the opening of our first Mi Home store. I am humbled by the unprecedented outpouring of love from all our Mi Fans who started lining up from 8 AM in the morning. I had a fun filled day with spending time with our fans, billing at the counters for our customers, entertaining people standing in queue and answering multiple queries at Mi Home. Never did I imagine that with every passing hour we were quietly creating history in the Indian retail market.”

Xiaomi has previously said that it will be opening 100 Mi Home stores across the country including major cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad and Chennai. With the launch of these offline stores, Xiaomi aims to increase the offline sales of its devices. An additional zone will be available in select Mi Home stores for experiencing more Xiaomi devices.

After becoming part of the “Make in India” program of the Indian Government, the Chinese firm launched its second manufacturing unit in the country at Andhra Pradesh. The factory that has been launched in partnership with Foxconn will make it possible for the company to manufacture 95 percent of smartphones that will be sold in the country. The company claims that the new plant is capable of producing one phone per second.

A recent survey carried out by IDC revealed that the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 was the most shipped smartphone in the first quarter of this year. With a market share of 29.3, Xiaomi now stands as the number one smartphone brand in the online market in India.

Alongside it, the company also announced the Mi Router 3C. It marks the launch of its first networking device in the country.

The Mi Router 3C is listed under Smart Devices on the official website. It is 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi router that comes with 4-high performance antennas and offers upload and download speeds of up to 300 Mbps. It promises a “wall penetrating range of” 80 meters. In order to use this modem with an internet connection, users need to have a ADSL or cable modem.

It comes with a 16 MB flash storage with dual partition system on which the firmware updates can be safely installed. It is equipped with 64 MB of RAM for smooth browsing and gaming experience. Compared to traditional routers, it offers 8 times more RAM. The rear side of the Mi Router 3C has 2 LAN ports of 10/100Mbps, 1 WAN port of 10/100 Mbps and a reset button. A maximum of 64 devices can be connected to Mi Router 3C.

The installation process of Mi Router 3C is quite simple by using a dedicated app called Mi Wi-Fi app which is available for Android and iOS devices. After turning on the router, the app will detect it. Then, users need to connect the Ethernet cable to the Mi Router 3C. The device is smart enough to import the settings to get it started.

The parental control feature allows the user to whitelist or blacklist specific IP addresses. Another feature called Guest Wi-F sharing makes it possible to create temporary password for allowing guests to connect to the web. It means users will not have to share the master password every time a guest wants to use the internet.

With Quality of Service (QoS), users can boost bandwidth for certain activities and optimize bandwidth for online gaming and video streaming. Wi-Fi Boost automatically detects bandwidth bottlenecks to boost the Wi-Fi connection by selecting the best available channel.

The Mi Router 3C is priced at Rs. 1,199 (around $19) in India. It will be available for buying from May 23 on Mi.com. It will be available on Flipkart and Amazon India from June 8. It will be also available at the new Mi Home retail storage established in Bengaluru.

The launch of the Redmi 4X should not come as a surprise to those familiar with Xiaomi. It was already obvious the Redmi 4 will get the X-treatment after the Redmi Note 4X was announced.

With the addition of this new phone, we now have a total of four Redmi 4 devices: the Redmi 4A, Redmi 4, Redmi 4X, and Redmi 4 Prime. You can call them the Fantastic Four if you wish.

All four phones are well made and are priced at less than $200. However, even though they share the same name, they differ in lots of ways. So if you are having a hard time deciding which is right for you, you should read this to the end.

Redmi 4A

Redmi 4X black

Redmi 4

Redmi 4 prime

Display: Same but Different

All the phones in the Redmi 4 line come with a 5-inch display making them perfect for one hand use. The difference lies is in their resolution. While the Redmi 4A, Redmi 4, and Redmi 4X have 720p displays, the Redmi 4 Prime has a 1080p screen. That translates into different PPIs too, 294 as against 441.

If you want your display sharp and crisp, you should look to the Redmi 4 Prime but if you don’t care much for that, the Redmi 4, 4A or 4X is fine.

Processors: Different Dragons

Xiaomi has settled for Qualcomm chips only. The Redmi 4A sports the Snapdragon 425; the Redmi 4 gets the Snapdragon 430, the Redmi 4X has the newer Snapdragon 435, and the Redmi 4 Prime uses the popular Snapdragon 625. The Redmi 4 Prime is basically the Redmi Note 4X with a smaller screen. Nothing more, nothing less. So I won’t compare its chip to the rest.

The Snapdragon 425 has a quad-core CPU clocked at 1.4GHz and an Adreno 308 GPU. The Snapdragon 430 and 435 on the other hand are octa-core chips clocked at 1.4GHz and have a more powerful Adreno 505 GPU. The advantage the Snapdragon 435 has over the Snapdragon 430 is in LTE speeds. The SD435 has Cat.7 LTE as against the SD430’s Cat. 4 LTE. That means you will get faster download speeds on the Redmi 4X.

RAM and ROM

The Xiaomi Redmi 4A and Redmi 4 ships with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage. The Redmi 4X is available in two variants: a 2GB RAM + 16GB ROM and a 3GB RAM + 32GB ROM. The Redmi 4 Prime is only available with 3GB RAM and 32GB of storage. All four devices support microSD cards of up to 128GB. If you want a larger RAM, the Redmi 4X or Redmi 4 Prime is your best option.

READ MORE: Xiaomi’s MIUI 8.2 Comes with new Ringtones: Download Here!

Cameras

The Redmi 4 line are all equipped with 13MP rear cameras and 5MP front cameras for selfies. The only difference is in the Redmi 4X which has a f/2.0 aperture for its rear camera whereas the others are f/2.2.

Battery

The Redmi 4, 4X, and 4 Prime ship with a 4100mAh battery but the Redmi 4A takes a dip down to 3120mAh. Since they are all 5-inch devices, battery life should be pretty stellar plus they all feature power efficient chips. However there might will be variations in on-screen time. The ones with the higher screen resolution may likely record less screen time than the 720p displays.

Fingerprint Scanner

Fingerprint scanners have now become a regular feature in mid-range phones. We have even seen them in some sub $100 devices but sadly, the Redmi 4A misses out on this feature. All the other 3 have fingerprint scanners at the back.

Price

Redmi 4A – ¥599 (~$87)

Redmi 4 – ¥699 (~$102)

Redmi 4X- 2GB RAM+ 16GB ROM = ¥699 (~$102); 3GB RAM + 32GB = ¥899 (~$131)

Redmi 4 Prime – ¥899 (~$131)

NB: Prices are MSRPs and not what you will get them from re-sellers.

Conclusion

Redmi 4A – cheapest of the lot but at the expense of a smaller battery and lack of a fingerprint scanner.

Redmi 4 – the fingerprint scanner and larger battery gives it an edge over the Redmi 4A. Battery life will be great too but probably won’t last as long the Redmi 4X.

Redmi 4X – has a more powerful processor in terms of LTE speeds than the Redmi 4A and Redmi 4 and also has a fingerprint scanner. The screen resolution might be the deal breaker for some. It is also the only other one with a 3GB variant.

Redmi 4 Prime – Best of everything. Compact body, higher resolution display, power efficient CPU, more powerful GPU, and larger RAM and storage. Basically the smaller version of the Redmi Note 4X in size alone.

If you do not care about the resolution, you are better off buying the 2GB RAM variant of the Redmi 4X or the Redmi 4. The Redmi 4 Prime is the one you should buy if you want to tick all the boxes. The Redmi 4A on the other hand is what you should get if you are looking for a second phone to complement that flagship in your pocket or if you want to get a gift for an older relative.

It does sport a new design similar to its sibling the Redmi Note 4 and still maintains the low price the series is known for.

However, the Redmi 4 has that annoying black border that surrounds its screen, a feature common to low-priced Chinese phones. Seems Xiaomi has heard the complaints from users and has decided to fix the issue albeit to a certain degree and quietly too.

It has been noticed that new batches of the Redmi 4 sold at the company’s official mall since January 11 now have considerably thinner black border lines. It isn’t gone completely but it is thinner and if you look at the image below, you should notice the difference quite clearly. You will also notice that the phone looks shorter, so I guess the production mould must have been changed completely.

old version vs new version (leaked image)

It’s worth adding that the new version looks a lot like the Redmi 4a, which already came with thin bezels. So, we will have to wait and see if the new version ends up looking like the one shown on the right.

The price still remains the same and you still get a 5-inch HD display, a Snapdragon 430 processor, 2GB/3GB of RAM, and 16GB/32GB of storage. There is a 13MP rear camera with PDAF and a 5MP front facing camera for selfies. And even though the Redmi 4 has a smaller display, it still has the same 4100mAh battery capacity as the bigger Redmi Note 4.

READ MORE: Xiaomi Aims to Exceed 100 billion Yuan ($14.5 billion) in Sales in 2017

So if you are out to purchase the Redmi 4, you might want to ask the seller if he/she has the new batch with the thinner border or probably just delay the purchase for a couple of weeks till they have the new batch.

The Redmi 4 is available in two versions: a 3GB RAM+32GB variant dubbed the Redmi 4 Pro, and a 2GB +16GB variant which you can call the standard variant. Both variants of the Redmi 4 have 5-inch displays with 2.5D curved glass on top.

They however differ with respect to processors and display resolution: There is a FHD screen and 2.0GHz Snapdragon 625 chip in the Pro, and a HD screen and 1.4GHz Snapdragon 430 (same as the Redmi 3s) in the standard variant. Cameras are the same: 13MP on the rear and 5MP up front; and battery capacities are no different: 4100mAh on both variants.

The Redmi 4 has dual 4G SIM slots but you’ll have to give up one if you want to use a micro SD card to expand storage. It also runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow with a MIUI 8 overlay.

Xiaomi has redesigned the Redmi 4 completely like they did with the Redmi Note 4. There is the 2.5D curve on the display we mentioned above, then the antenna lines are a lot different and appear more refined. The speakers are also no longer on the back but are now at the bottom, flanking the charging port. The camera and LED flash have also changed position. The sensor now sits above the fingerprint scanner and is flanked on the left by the LED flash in the Pro but on the right in the standard variant.

The Redmi 4 starts at ¥699 ($105) for the standard variant and ¥899 ($133) for the Pro variant and it is available in the same gold, grey, and silver colour options as its predecessors.

The company released the two devices online, via live stream, instead of the traditional fanfare associated with its phone launches. But it’s understandable, considering how busy the company has been in the past few months.

The Redmi 4A comes with a similar appearance as the Redmi 4, in a matte finish and two color options, gold and rose gold. So, despite its cheap pricing, the phone will look quite premium as compared to rivals in the market. The phone is super light as well, weighing just 131.5 grams. Another interesting highlight of the phone’s design is the super thin antenna lines, which gives it a seamless look.

The Redmi 4A is powered by the Snapdragon 425 chipset which is a quad-core chip clocked at 1.2GHz. There is a 5-inch 720p display on board. For memory, there is 2GB RAM and 16GB of expandable internal storage. At the back, the phone features a 13MP sensor with PDAF, and up front, there is a 5MP shooter. Other features include a 3120mAh battery, MIUI 8 and dual SIM dual standby.

All this for an amazing price tag of 499 Yuan, which comes to just $74. That’s a lot if specs for such a cheap device. The phone will go on sale on November 11.

Xiaomi has announced on Weibo that the successor to the Redmi 3 and it’s several siblings will be unveiled on the 4th of November, two months after an August 25 release rumour.

The Redmi 4 is expected to sport the same 5” screen size that distinguishes it from the Note series but this time it is said to be getting a Full HD resolution which means it will have a higher pixel density than all the other Redmi phones the company has released.

The phone will also get 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage as default. A Snapdragon 625 SoC will handle processing and the cameras will remain at 13MP and 5MP for the rear and front, however we can’t tell if they will be entirely different sensors or the same as the Redmi 3. The fingerprint scanner will also remain at the back.

READ MORE: Xiaomi Mi 5s Vs Xiaomi Mi 5s Plus

Xiaomi’s Redmi 4 will launch with Android 6.0 Marshmallow with a MIUI 8 overlay but it will be interesting to know the android security patch level it comes with. The Redmi 4 is expected to be priced at 699 Yuan ($103), if this turns out to be true, Xiaomi already has a winner here.

Yesterday we saw what was likely the Redmi 4A on TENAA looking like a variation of the Redmi 4. Today, renders of the long awaited Xiaomi Redmi 4 have appeared online. The images are at sync with the ones earlier spotted on TENAA months back when the Redmi 4 was certified.

The renders, leaked on Weibo by popular tipster @kjuma, also appeared along side a list of some of the details of the device’s specs and there are no different from those spotted on TENAA way back. The Redmi 4 features a 5-inch display and will be powered by a Snapdragon 625 processor along with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of built-in storage.

The device is also listed as sporting a 13MP rear camera unit with Phase focus and LED flash, along side a 5MP front-facing one. On the software end, the Xiaomi Redmi 4 will run on Android Marshmallow-based MIUI 8. The device is also listed to feature a host of network bands including LTE.

Design wise, the device seems to use very narrow bezels at the sides, with the usual oval shaped home button missing. Seems it is entirely a touchscreen affair on this one. There are capacitive keys at the sides though, for volume control and to power the device on and off. At the rear, there is a fingerprint scanner just underneath the rear camera.

This latest leak could be an indication that the Redmi 4 which was expected to launch with the Redmi Note 4 months back, would be dropping soon. If you have forgotten, the device is said to come very cheap, with a projected price tag of around 699 Yuan ($105).

It seems it’s launch is near as images have shown up on TENAA’s website.

The Redmi 4 appears to look more like a small sized Redmi Note 4, although it doesn’t seem to have that curve of the Note 4. It doesn’t seem like Xiaomi has any plans of changing the design of the capacitive buttons, so that remains the same. The speaker on the Redmi 4 has been removed from the back and will now be at the bottom flanking the charging port.

At the back, there is a fingerprint scanner below the rear camera which has the LED flash sitting on the left. The Mi logo sits a few inches from the antenna line at the base. Volume rocker and power buttons are still on the right and the SIM tray is on the left.

RELATED: Redmi Note 4 Unboxing Pictures

Specifications of the Redmi includes 3GB of RAM, 32GB of storage, and a Full HD display which a lot of people are excited about considering its 699 Yuan ($105) price tag. The processor is clocked at 1.8 GHz which some have predicted to be the Helio P10. Though some say it is the Snapdragon 625. If it does come with a Helio P10 chip, trust Xiaomi to release a version with a SD 625 chip as well and tag it as the Redmi 4 Pro.

The Redmi 4 Pro will launch with MIUI 8 based on Android 6.0.1. There is no news on release date yet, but we believe it will get an official release soon.

Before now, there has been rumors that Xiaomi will hold a news conference on August 25 where it is billed to release two new smartphones in the Redmi series. This TENAA listing comes just in time to lend some credence to the rumor, considering August 25 is by the corner. In addition, we spotted leaked images of what is likely the Redmi Note 4 with the on screen specs matching those listed on TENAA.

Xiaomi Redmi 4 TENAA

According to the TENAA listing the one suspected to be Xiaomi Redmi 4 features a 5-inch display with 1080 resolution and would be powered by a 1.8GHz processor which is to be the MediaTek Helio P10 chipset. The device is also listed as having 3GB RAM and 32GB of built-in storage . There’s also a 13MP rear camera sensor and a 5MP front camera. The suspected Redmi 4 is also listed to boot Android 6.0 Marshmallow out-of-the-box and will have a huge 4,000mAh under its hood. Quite curiously, the device is also listed to feature infrared transmission.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 TENAA

On the other hand, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 is listed as having a 5.5-inch display with a resolution of 1080p. The smartphone also said to be powered by a 2GHz processor which is suspected to be the Helio X20 chipset as against the Snapdragon 652 processor earlier rumored to be on the device. The Redmi Note 4 is listed as having two versions, one with 2GB RAM and 16GB of internal storage and a higher version with 3GB RAM and 32GB of internal storage.

RELATED: Rumor Mill: Xiaomi Redmi Note 4

In addition, the Redmi Note 4 is listed to feature a 13MP rear facing camera as well as a 5MP front facing camera.
We were also gifted leaked images of what is likely the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 on Weibo and the device looks quite stunning. Apart from the beautiful design Xiaomi is planning to offer us, we also had an on-screen peek of the specs of what is likely the 2GB RAM + 16GB ROM version of the Redmi Note 4 and they align properly with the TENAA data.

But now, latest rumor from the Chinese social networking website, Weibo states that the company is all set to announce a low-end device later this month and the phone is going to be none other than the Redmi 4.

This is not the first time we are hearing about the Redmi 4 budget device, but it’s the first time someone is claiming that the launch is going to be as soon as August. The person who leaked this info has also given a date, August 25. So, the Redmi 4 is said to be launching on Thursday, August 25.

Along with the launch date, the source also gave out probable specs of the Redmi 4. It is said that the phone may come with Snapdragon 625 chipset with a 5-inch 1080p display. Now, if you remember, a few days back, we had seen alleged pictures of the Redmi 4 and it was running an octa-core chip clocked at 2GHz. We assumed it as the Helio P10 but this source says that we may find Snapdragon 625 inside.

However, the latest rumors contradict the earlier reports which said that the Redmi 4 could feature Helio X20 deca-core chip. Looks like, we still can’t be sure of what to expect inside the upcoming budget smartphone.

RELATED: Redmi 4 Leaked with 2GHz Octa-core chip, 2GB RAM & Metal Body

Apart from leaking details about the Redmi 4, the source also said that Xiaomi could release a new flagship model in September. It most likely should be a model from the Xiaomi Mi Note 2 series which is due for an update. However, analyst Pan Jiutang is pretty sure that the Mi Note 2 is going to be announced in August itself, so it remains to be seen what this mystery device could be in September, i.e. assuming that this leak turns out to be true.

READ MORE: Analyst: Xiaomi Mi 5s and Mi Note 2 to Cost More

One possibility is that, if the Mi Note 2 is announced in August, then a special version, like the dual curved display model, probably called as the Mi Note Edge (as mentioned by earlier rumors) could be announced in September.

Of course, these are just rumors for now and we don’t know anything for sure. But considering the aggressive release strategy by Xiaomi in the past few months, we can expect to see a few more interesting devices in the next few months.

We recently saw the Redmi 3S and 3X models released in China, and now, it looks like the company is preparing the launch of the new Redmi 4 model already. Even if the release may not be very soon, at least a working Xiaomi Redmi 4 prototype has leaked online, giving us some insight on the possible specifications of the device.

The alleged Redmi 4 model comes with a metal body, quite similar to the Redmi 3. There seems to be 2.5D glass up front, but the rest of the design is familiar. The speakers are located at the bottom and the phone comes with single camera sensor at the back with fingerprint sensor just below.

As for the specs, the Redmi 4 will reportedly come with an octa-core processor clocked at 2GHz, which should most likely be the Helio P10 chipset. There will be 2GB of RAM on board and 16GB of internal storage. It’s running on MIUI 8 OS based on Android 6 Marshmallow.

If this is indeed the Redmi 4, then specs and design wise, the phone takes the budget Redmi model to a whole new level. Helio P10 powers mid-range flagships in the market today and having the same processor inside a super cheap 699 Yuan ($106) smartphone would be just plain amazing.

Let’s hope we get more details about the handset pretty soon.
