LineageOS is a boon for those who are looking for a feature-rich, light-weight ROM without any bloatware. There are plenty of features it carries that are unmatchable with any other custom ROM present for the Android devices.

LineageOS 15.1 is fully stable with the devices mentioned above and is fully compatible as like of Stock ROM. Most of the vital features are running such as VoLTE and IMS without any bug. It packs all Android Oreo features, including picture-in-picture (PiP) mode, Autofill apps, notification channels/snoozing, and support for themes.

As there’s no official confirmation about the Android 8.1 Oreo update for the devices mentioned above, LineageOS 15.1 will act as a medium to embrace Android 8.1 Oreo on them. It is the best option out there to replace your stock ROM with feature enriched and simple ROM. Here is the list of devices that have been recently added to the lineages 15.1 support:

LG G2 (d800) AT&T

LG G2 (d801) T-Mobile

LG G2 (d802) International

Xiaomi Redmi 4/4X (santoni)

The listing reveals that the smartphone is powered by an unannounced MediaTek SoC. In the previous month, an unidentified Xiaomi phone called Xiaomi Cereus was also spotted with the same SoC. It seems that the Cactus could be lower variant of the Cereus phone.

According to the Geekbench listing, the Xiaomi Cactus is running on Android 8.1.0 Oreo. It is powered by MediaTek MT6765 SoC that features a quad-core processor that clocks at 2.0 GHz along with 2 GB of RAM. In single-core test, the Xiaomi Cactus has scored 802 and it has recorded a score of 2334 in the multi-core test.

There seems to be some error with the processor information of the Xiaomi Cactus as the Geekbench listing of the Xiaomi Cereus had revealed that the MT6765 chipset has 2.0 GHz octa-core processor. The Xiaomi Cereus phone has 3 GB of RAM and it is loaded with Android 8.1.0 Oreo. It could be the higher edition of the Xiaomi Cactus. As far as the unknown MediaTek chipset is concerned, some reports have claimed that the MT6765 could be the Helio P40 SoC.

The Redmi 4 series includes Redmi 4A, Redmi 4, Redmi 4 Pro and Redmi 4X. So far Xiaomi has released Redmi 5A, Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus phones in the Redmi 5 series. Last year, Xiaomi had debuted the Redmi 4X in February. An image of the Redmi 5 Plus has surfaced on Weibo. However, the image does not show the actual handset, but it looks like a closeup shot of the box package or a poster of Redmi 5 Plus.

The Redmi 5 Plus moniker suggests that it could be an advanced edition of Redmi 5. Since Xiaomi had released Redmi 4A has a lower variant of the Redmi 5, the company is likely to launch Redmi 5A also this year alongside Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus. The Redmi 5A has been allegedly spotted on TENAA’s site which suggests that the company may soon debut the Redmi 5 series in China.

There is no information available on the specifications of the Redmi 5 Plus. Like the predecessor Redmi phones, the Redmi 5 Plus is pegged to feature a 5-inch display. It is likely that the Redmi 5 will sport the same design as the upcoming Redmi Note 5.

Recent leaks have revealed that the budget phablet would be driven by MediaTek Helio P25 and it would be coming in two variants such as: 3 GB of RAM + 32 GB of storage and 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage. The handset is also expected to arrive in a Snapdragon chipset edition.

Speculations also hint that the Redmi Note 5 would be blessed with dual rear cameras that would include a 16-megapixel sensor and a 5-megapixel sensor. It is expected to house a 4,000mAh battery. Like the predecessor Redmi Note phones, the Redmi Note 5 is slated to arrive with a 5.5-inch display and it would be featuring a rear-mounted fingerprint reader. Other speculated specs of the phablet include 12-megapixel selfie snapper, MIUI 9 flavored Android 7.1 Nougat and a USB-C port.

The base model of the Redmi Note 5 is expected to arrive with a price tag of 999 Yuan (~$151). The higher model is rumored to be priced at 1,299 Yuan (~$196).

His response was the company’s Redmi 4X. Xiaomi has a reputation for building quality models that get slammed super cheap price tags. The Xiaomi Redmi 4X is no exception, coming in at 699 Yuan (~$102) for the 2GB RAM + 16GB version and going for as low as 1099 Yuan (~$159) for the 4GB + 64GB version which was introduced in April this year. But that price has taken a further dip as No. 1 Shop is offering the Redmi 4X 4GB + 64GB version at a reduced price of 979 Yuan (~$144), less than a thousand Yuan!

The Redmi 4X price cut on No. 1 Shop seems to cut across all the versions of the device as the 3GB + 32GB version is now up for 859 Yuan (~$126) instead of 899 Yuan (~$132). Also, the 2GB + 16GB version has a slightly reduced 689 Yuan (~$101) price tag as against the usual price of 699 Yuan (~$102). The offer comes with free shipping option and buyers also get the option of payment on delivery. In case you’re wondering why the price cut, Xiaomi isn’t clearing up for a Redmi 5X or something but No. 1 Shop is celebrating its 9th anniversary. The online e-commerce shop was launched in July 2008.

As a reminder, the Xiaomi Redmi 4X comes with a 5-inch 720p display with 2.5D glass on top and a smooth metal body, curved around the corners. The phone is powered by an octa-core Snapdragon 435 chipset and there is a large 4100mAh battery under the hood which should ensure at least two days of comfortable usage on a single charge. The Redmi 4X also packs a 13MP rear camera with f/2.0 aperture, 5P lens, PDAF and LED flash while there is a 5MP selfie shooter with f/2.2 aperture.

The Redmi 4X comes with a slim 8.65mm body (despite featuring a large 4100mAh battery in a compact 5-inch form factor). At the back, there is also a fingerprint sensor, which is a great addition at this price. The smartphone is available in Cherry Blossom, Champagne Gold and Matte Black colours.

The Redmi Note 4 and Redmi 4X are the two Xiaomi phones that will be landing first on the Mexican soil. In Mexico, these smartphones will be available for buying both offline and online.

According to Xiaomi’s director of product management and marketing, Donovan Sung, “Mexico is a really important market for us and acts as our starting point to reach the rest of Latin America.” In 2016, there were 44.2 million smartphone users in the country. The number of smartphones users in Mexico is increasing at a steady pace because of the competition between the smartphone brands as well as lower pricing of phones.

To make the Redmi Note 4 and Redmi 4X available in Mexico, Xiaomi has partnered with several online and offline retailers of Latin America. The offline retailing partners include Coppel, Best Buy and Sam’s Club and the online retailers are Amazon, Best Buy, Soriana, Elektra and Walmart.

As far as pricing is concerned, the Redmi Note 4 will be available by May end with a pricing of MXN 5,499 ($285). The Redmi 4X will be launching a bit later with a price tag of MXN 3,999 ($209).

Xiaomi has also debuted its MI Community LATAM in Mexico. Xiaomi en Mexico Facebook group created by Xiaomi fans has 15,000 members. The creation of the Mi Community mobile app will give an official platform to Xiaomi fans to interact with each other and participate in various activities.

Through Mi Community, Xiaomi can get in touch with its loyal fans and receive feedback and comments to improve its products and services. Becoming a part of the Mi Community will provide exclusive access to launch events and products. Xiaomi will soon launch a Mi Community app on Google Play Mexico this month. The app will be later on made available to other Latin American countries.

This isn’t the first time that Xiaomi phones will be coming to Latin and South American markets. In the past, Xiaomi has sold its smartphones in Mexico through third party partners. Xiaomi has been selling its devices in Brazil, but it downsized its operations within 12 months of beginning its operation in the country in 2016.

The launch of the Redmi 4X should not come as a surprise to those familiar with Xiaomi. It was already obvious the Redmi 4 will get the X-treatment after the Redmi Note 4X was announced.

With the addition of this new phone, we now have a total of four Redmi 4 devices: the Redmi 4A, Redmi 4, Redmi 4X, and Redmi 4 Prime. You can call them the Fantastic Four if you wish.

All four phones are well made and are priced at less than $200. However, even though they share the same name, they differ in lots of ways. So if you are having a hard time deciding which is right for you, you should read this to the end.

Redmi 4A

Redmi 4X black

Redmi 4

Redmi 4 prime

Display: Same but Different

All the phones in the Redmi 4 line come with a 5-inch display making them perfect for one hand use. The difference lies is in their resolution. While the Redmi 4A, Redmi 4, and Redmi 4X have 720p displays, the Redmi 4 Prime has a 1080p screen. That translates into different PPIs too, 294 as against 441.

If you want your display sharp and crisp, you should look to the Redmi 4 Prime but if you don’t care much for that, the Redmi 4, 4A or 4X is fine.

Processors: Different Dragons

Xiaomi has settled for Qualcomm chips only. The Redmi 4A sports the Snapdragon 425; the Redmi 4 gets the Snapdragon 430, the Redmi 4X has the newer Snapdragon 435, and the Redmi 4 Prime uses the popular Snapdragon 625. The Redmi 4 Prime is basically the Redmi Note 4X with a smaller screen. Nothing more, nothing less. So I won’t compare its chip to the rest.

The Snapdragon 425 has a quad-core CPU clocked at 1.4GHz and an Adreno 308 GPU. The Snapdragon 430 and 435 on the other hand are octa-core chips clocked at 1.4GHz and have a more powerful Adreno 505 GPU. The advantage the Snapdragon 435 has over the Snapdragon 430 is in LTE speeds. The SD435 has Cat.7 LTE as against the SD430’s Cat. 4 LTE. That means you will get faster download speeds on the Redmi 4X.

RAM and ROM

The Xiaomi Redmi 4A and Redmi 4 ships with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage. The Redmi 4X is available in two variants: a 2GB RAM + 16GB ROM and a 3GB RAM + 32GB ROM. The Redmi 4 Prime is only available with 3GB RAM and 32GB of storage. All four devices support microSD cards of up to 128GB. If you want a larger RAM, the Redmi 4X or Redmi 4 Prime is your best option.

READ MORE: Xiaomi’s MIUI 8.2 Comes with new Ringtones: Download Here!

Cameras

The Redmi 4 line are all equipped with 13MP rear cameras and 5MP front cameras for selfies. The only difference is in the Redmi 4X which has a f/2.0 aperture for its rear camera whereas the others are f/2.2.

Battery

The Redmi 4, 4X, and 4 Prime ship with a 4100mAh battery but the Redmi 4A takes a dip down to 3120mAh. Since they are all 5-inch devices, battery life should be pretty stellar plus they all feature power efficient chips. However there might will be variations in on-screen time. The ones with the higher screen resolution may likely record less screen time than the 720p displays.

Fingerprint Scanner

Fingerprint scanners have now become a regular feature in mid-range phones. We have even seen them in some sub $100 devices but sadly, the Redmi 4A misses out on this feature. All the other 3 have fingerprint scanners at the back.

Price

Redmi 4A – ¥599 (~$87)

Redmi 4 – ¥699 (~$102)

Redmi 4X- 2GB RAM+ 16GB ROM = ¥699 (~$102); 3GB RAM + 32GB = ¥899 (~$131)

Redmi 4 Prime – ¥899 (~$131)

NB: Prices are MSRPs and not what you will get them from re-sellers.

Conclusion

Redmi 4A – cheapest of the lot but at the expense of a smaller battery and lack of a fingerprint scanner.

Redmi 4 – the fingerprint scanner and larger battery gives it an edge over the Redmi 4A. Battery life will be great too but probably won’t last as long the Redmi 4X.

Redmi 4X – has a more powerful processor in terms of LTE speeds than the Redmi 4A and Redmi 4 and also has a fingerprint scanner. The screen resolution might be the deal breaker for some. It is also the only other one with a 3GB variant.

Redmi 4 Prime – Best of everything. Compact body, higher resolution display, power efficient CPU, more powerful GPU, and larger RAM and storage. Basically the smaller version of the Redmi Note 4X in size alone.

If you do not care about the resolution, you are better off buying the 2GB RAM variant of the Redmi 4X or the Redmi 4. The Redmi 4 Prime is the one you should buy if you want to tick all the boxes. The Redmi 4A on the other hand is what you should get if you are looking for a second phone to complement that flagship in your pocket or if you want to get a gift for an older relative.

The Xiaomi Redmi 4X comes with a 5-inch 720p display onboard with 2.5D glass on top and a smooth metal body, curved around the corners. The company claims that despite being a budget device, the Redmi 4X comes with flagship like design and built.

The phone is powered by an octa-core Snapdragon 435 chipset and comes in 2GB + 16GB and 3GB + 32GB memory variants. There is a large 4100mAh battery on board which will ensure at least two days of comfortable usage on a single charge. So, you do have a brand new Xiaomi phone that features a large battery, unlike the Mi 5C which comes with a small <3000 battery onboard.

RELATED: Xiaomi’s First Pinecone Chipset Is Official, Called the Surge S1

The Redmi 4X comes with a slim 8.65mm body (despite featuring a large 4000mAh battery in a compact 5-inch form factor). At the back, you get a 13MP camera as well as a fingerprint sensor, which is a great addition at this price.

The company didn’t reveal too many details about the Xiaomi Redmi 4X at the conference today, but we expect full specs details very soon.

The Redmi 4X starts at 699 Yuan (~102) for the 2GB + 16GB model and goes up to 899 Yuan (~$131) for the 3GB + 32GB version. The phone will go on sale on March in a number of color options including gold and black. So, the Redmi 4X basically competes in the same category as the Redmi 4A, but with much better specs.

In addition to the Mi 5C, the Xiaomi Redmi 4X specs, pricing, and release details seem to have leaked online via Xiaomi Mall. The Mall listing details the Redmi 4X as having a 5-inch display and packing a large 4,100mAh battery. The Redmi 4X is expected to be powered by an unspecified octa-core Snapdragon processor and would be priced at 699 Yuan ($101). The smartphone will go on sale on March 3 at 12 AM, according to the poster.

The Xiaomi Redmi 4X is said to have appeared on TENAA sometime back as MAE136, and it was certified. The TENAA listing, as usual, gifted us a few specs & renders of the device. The details revealed by the TENAA appearance included a 5-inch display with a three-stage body design at the back. There is a rear fingerprint sensor as well. Further, the TENAA listing also reveals the Redmi 4X would feature a host of network bands like TD-LTE / LTE FDD / TD-SCDMA / WCDMA / CDMA2000 / CDMA 1X / GSM standard. The device will also come with dual-SIM/dual Standby support
