While the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-redmi-note-7-pro">Redmi Note 7 Pro</a> has been available in India since March 13, the company is yet to launch Redmi 7 in the country. Fresh information shared by Indian tipster Ishan Agarwal reveals that Redmi 7 will be launching in India soon. He also revealed that <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/xiaomi">Xiaomi</a> is prepping up to launch Redmi Y3 and Redmi 7A phones in the country.</p>
<p>According to Agarwal, Xiaomi may launch the selfie-centric Redmi Y3 phone in India in May. Before its launch, the company will be releasing the Redmi 7 handset in India. Hence, there is a possibility that the Redmi 7 may go official later this month.</p>
<p>The Chinese manufacturer is also preparing a budget smartphone with model number C3F, claims the tipster. Probably, it may debut as Redmi 7A to replace the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-redmi-6a">Redmi 6A</a> entry-level smartphone from last year.</p>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/03/21/redmi-y3-gets-wi-fi-certification-will-come-with-android-pie/">In March</a>, the Redmi Y3 smartphone (M1810F6G) had received Wi-Fi certification. It had confirmed that the phone carries support for 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi and it runs on Android 9 Pie OS. A newer report had revealed that the Redmi Y3 phone could be arriving in <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/03/27/the-redmi-y3-may-also-launch-as-the-redmi-7-pro/">some markets Redmi 7 Pro</a>. There is no information available on the specs of the phone yet. However, it is speculated that it come with a <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/12/19/xiaomi-redmi-7-pro-appears-in-live-photo-has-a-water-drop-notch/">water notched display</a> and it could be fueled by Snapdragon 660 or 632 SoC. There is no information available on the specifications of the Redmi 7A.</p>

The phone which will run Android Pie out of the box may actually go by another name in some markets. To be specific, this may be the same device that will be sold as the Redmi 7 Pro.</p>
<figure id="attachment_240637" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-240637" style="width: 690px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-240637" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/03/redmi-7-launch.jpg?x44794" alt="Redmi 7 Pro" width="690" height="1227" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/03/redmi-7-launch.jpg 690w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/03/redmi-7-launch-169x300.jpg 169w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/03/redmi-7-launch-576x1024.jpg 576w" sizes="(max-width: 690px) 100vw, 690px" /><figcaption id="caption-attachment-240637" class="wp-caption-text">Redmi Y3 may also launch as the Redmi 7 Pro</figcaption></figure>
<p>A finding carried out by <em>XDA-Developers</em> has shown that the unreleased Redmi Y3 has nearly the same model number as the Redmi 7 but its actually their codenames that shows the key info. The Redmi Y3&#8217;s model number is <strong>M1810F6G</strong> and its device codename is “<strong>onc_global</strong>”.</p>
<p>The already released <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-redmi-7/">Redmi 7</a> has multiple model numbers &#8211; <strong>M1810F6LG</strong> for the global variant, <strong>M1810F6LI</strong> for the Indian variant, and there is <strong>M1810F6LH</strong> which is also a global variant. You can see they all share the first seven characters with the Redmi Y3. The codenames for all three Redmi 7 phones are “<strong>onclite</strong>”, “<strong>onclite_india</strong>”, and “<strong>onclite_global_b</strong>” respectively.</p>
<p>The “lite” in the codenames shows they are less-specced models of “<strong>onc_global</strong>”. So if “onclite” is the Redmi 7, “<strong>onc</strong>” should be the <strong>Redmi 7 Pro</strong>.</p>
<p>Let&#8217;s also not forget that last year&#8217;s <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-redmi-6-pro-2/">Redmi 6 Pro</a> is known outside China as the Android One <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-mi-a2-lite/">Mi A2 Lite</a>. Does this mean the Redmi Y3 a.k.a. Redmi 7 Pro, is also the Mi A3 Lite? Since none of the aforementioned codenames have the suffix “<strong> _sprout</strong>” which is a trait of Android One phones, one can hold the thought.</p>

<p>There are two other devices with model numbers and codenames similar to that of the Redmi Y3, one is <strong>M1810F6H</strong> (“<strong>onc_global_b</strong>”) and the other is <strong>M1810F6I</strong> (“<strong>onc_india</strong>”). There are also two others with similar model numbers but no codenames &#8211; they are <strong>M1810F6LE</strong> and <strong>M1810F6LT</strong>. There is also no info on their marketing names.</p>

Today, the smartphone has been certified by NBTC in Thailand and TKDN in Indonesia. Now that the phone has bagged approval from multiple bodies, it appears that its global launch is close at hand.</p>
<p>The NBTC and TKDN listings of the M180F6LG model number have not revealed any information on its specifications. As <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/02/08/redmi-7-launch-nears-as-it-receives-imda-certification-in-singapore/">Singapore’s IMDA</a> body had certified the M180F6LG as Redmi 7, the NBTC certification also confirms the same moniker. In the previous, the FCC body in the U.S. had also certified by the M180F6LG smartphone.</p>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/02/20/xiaomi-redmi-7-fcc-certification-reveals-key-specifications-including-variants/">Through the FCC listing</a> it was revealed that the handset could be arriving with a display of around 6.2 inches. The dimensions of the handset are 157 x 76mm. The MIUI 10 based Android OS will be available preinstalled on the handset. The FCC documents have revealed that the Redmi 7 has three modes like 3 GB RAM + 32 GB storage, 3 GB RAM + 64 GB storage and 4 GB RAM + 64 GB storage.</p>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/03/01/xiaomi-redmi-7-global-launch-could-be-nearing/redmi-7-tkdn/" rel="attachment wp-att-238946"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-238946" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/03/Redmi-7-TKDN.jpg?x44794" alt="" width="895" height="722" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/03/Redmi-7-TKDN.jpg 895w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/03/Redmi-7-TKDN-300x242.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/03/Redmi-7-TKDN-768x620.jpg 768w" sizes="(max-width: 895px) 100vw, 895px" /></a> <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/03/01/xiaomi-redmi-7-global-launch-could-be-nearing/redmi-7-nbtc/" rel="attachment wp-att-238945"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-238945" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/03/Redmi-7-NBTC.jpg?x44794" alt="" width="895" height="988" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/03/Redmi-7-NBTC.jpg 895w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/03/Redmi-7-NBTC-272x300.jpg 272w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/03/Redmi-7-NBTC-768x848.jpg 768w" sizes="(max-width: 895px) 100vw, 895px" /></a></p>
<p>The 3C authority of China had three model numbers of the smartphone such as <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/02/12/xiaomi-redmi-7-is-3c-certified-launch-date-could-be-near/">M180F6LE, M180F6LC and M180F6LT</a>. It also confirmed that the phone will be shipped with a 10W charger. It indicated that the phone could be packed with modest specs.</p>
<p>Redmi is yet to confirm on the existence of the Redmi 7 series. The company has recently launched the Redmi Note 7 Pro smartphone in India. In China, the handset will be announced on March 18. Probably, the Chinese manufacturer may announce the Redmi 7 by the end of this month or early next month. It could be <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/01/14/redmi-7-price-range-between-700-to-800-yuan-under-120-confirms-xiaomi-ceo/">priced between 700 and 800 Yuan</a> ($104 to $119).</p>

It is equipped with a 13-megapixel selfie camera and a dual camera setup that includes a 48-megapixel Sony IMX586 primary sensor and a 5-megapixel secondary sensor. The 64 GB and 128 GB editions of the Redmi Note 7 Pro are respectively priced at Rs. 13,999 (~$197) and Rs. 16,999 (~$239).</p>

Very soon its independent Redmi brand will be also debuting the Redmi Note 7 Pro smartphone in the home market. It appears that the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/redmi">Redmi</a> 7 series will also arrive in quick succession since it has been approved by FCC authority in the U.S.</p>
<p>The FCC authority has a Xiaomi phone with model number M180F6LG. None of the FCC documents carry the Redmi 7 moniker. However, when the same model number was <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/02/08/redmi-7-launch-nears-as-it-receives-imda-certification-in-singapore/">approved by IMDA</a> agency of Singapore earlier this month, it was revealed that it will be hitting the market as Redmi 7. Apart from being approved by FCC and IMDA authorities, the Redmi 7 has also received <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/02/12/xiaomi-redmi-7-is-3c-certified-launch-date-could-be-near/">certification from 3C authority</a> of China earlier this month.</p>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/02/20/xiaomi-redmi-7-fcc-certification-reveals-key-specifications-including-variants/redmi-7-spec-2/" rel="attachment wp-att-237382"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-237382" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/Redmi-7-spec-1.jpg?x44794" alt="" width="475" height="470" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/Redmi-7-spec-1.jpg 475w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/Redmi-7-spec-1-300x297.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 475px) 100vw, 475px" /></a> <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/02/20/xiaomi-redmi-7-fcc-certification-reveals-key-specifications-including-variants/redmi-7-miui-10/" rel="attachment wp-att-237381"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-237381" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/Redmi-7-MIUI-10.jpg?x44794" alt="" width="702" height="491" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/Redmi-7-MIUI-10.jpg 702w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/Redmi-7-MIUI-10-300x210.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 702px) 100vw, 702px" /></a></p>
<p>The 3C certification of the Redmi 7 had revealed that it carries support for 10W charging. The 3C body had approved three variants of the phone such as M180F6LE, M180F6LC and M180F6LK. Through the FCC certification, it has been revealed that the phone measures 157 x 76mm. Diagonally, it measures 167mm which suggests that it could be coming with a screen size of around 6.2 inches. The rear image of the phone that has appeared in the FCC documents shows that it features a single camera on its rear. This seems a bit strange since the predecessor <a href="https://www.gizmochhina.com/product/xiaomi-redmi-6">Redmi 6</a> phone had come with dual rear cameras.</p>
<p>The Android 9 Pie OS could be available on the device. FCC reveals that the phone features MIUI 10 user interface. It has been also found that the Redmi 7 will be arriving in three options in the international markets like 3 GB RAM + 32 GB storage, 3 GB RAM + 64 GB storage and 4 GB RAM + 64 GB storage. The other specs of the Redmi 7 are still under the wraps.</p>

</ul>
<p>Probably, Redmi may announce the Redmi 7 series with phones like Redmi 7A, Redmi 7 and Redmi 7 Pro in March or early in the second quarter of the year. <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/01/14/redmi-7-price-range-between-700-to-800-yuan-under-120-confirms-xiaomi-ceo/">In the previous month</a>, Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun had claimed that the Redmi 7 could be priced between 700 Yuan and 800 Yuan.</p>

The newly established Redmi brand will be launching smartphones including the Redmi 7 series and <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/01/10/lei-jun-confirms-redmi-is-working-on-a-2500-yuan-370-flagship-smartphone/">Snapdragon 855 powered Redmi flagship</a> phone. While there is no fresh information available on the Redmi flagship smartphone, the arrival of the Redmi 7 series seems to be drawing near since the M180F6LC/E/T models have been approved by 3C authority in China.</p>
<p>Last week, the IMDA body of Singapore had approved M1806FLG smartphone. The certification had confirmed that the smartphone <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/02/08/redmi-7-launch-nears-as-it-receives-imda-certification-in-singapore/">will be releasing in Singapore as Redmi 7</a>. The newly 3C certified M180F6LC, M180F6LE and M180F6LT devices are very similar to the M180F6LG phone in Singapore. Hence, the M180F6LC/E/T is nothing but the upcoming Redmi 7 phone.</p>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/02/12/xiaomi-redmi-7-is-3c-certified-launch-date-could-be-near/redmi-7-3c/" rel="attachment wp-att-236017"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-236017" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/Redmi-7-3C.png?x44794" alt="Redmi 7 3C" width="1100" height="219" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/Redmi-7-3C.png 1100w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/Redmi-7-3C-300x60.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/Redmi-7-3C-768x153.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/Redmi-7-3C-1024x204.png 1024w" sizes="(max-width: 1100px) 100vw, 1100px" /></a><br />
The 3C listing of the Redmi 7 reveals that the MDY-09-EK charger that will be coming along with it will support not more than 5V/2A charging. Apart from the supported charging rate of the Redmi 7, there is no information available on its other specifications. Hopefully, its entire specs may appear on TENAA in the coming weeks.</p>
<p>The Redmi 7 smartphone will be the successor of the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-redmi-6/">Redmi 6</a> phone from last year. The Chinese manufacture may release Redmi 7A as <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-redmi-6a">Redmi 6A’s</a> successor and Redmi 7 Pro as Redmi 6 Pro’s sequel. A Russian tech blogger had revealed the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/12/19/xiaomi-redmi-7-pro-appears-in-live-photo-has-a-water-drop-notch/">front design of the Redmi 7 Pro</a> through a YouTube video. The phone featured a waterdrop-style notch like the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-redmi-note-7">Redmi Note 7</a> phone. The Redmi 6 Pro from last year featured a wider notch on its display. The Redmi 6 and 6A came with displays that supported 18:9 aspect ratio. Probably, their successor may feature notched displays like the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-redmi-6-pro">Redmi 6 Pro.</a></p>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/02/08/redmi-7-launch-nears-as-it-receives-imda-certification-in-singapore/redmi-7-pro-2/" rel="attachment wp-att-235654"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-235654" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/Redmi-7-Pro.png?x44794" alt="Redmi 7 Pro" width="648" height="449" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/Redmi-7-Pro.png 648w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/Redmi-7-Pro-300x208.png 300w" sizes="(max-width: 648px) 100vw, 648px" /></a></p>

<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/01/07/redmis-48-megapixel-camera-phone-appears-in-official-video-and-press-poster/alleged-redmi-note-7-front-and-rear/" rel="attachment wp-att-230983"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-230983" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/Alleged-Redmi-Note-7-front-and-rear.png?x44794" alt="Alleged Redmi Note 7 front and rear" width="864" height="599" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/Alleged-Redmi-Note-7-front-and-rear.png 864w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/Alleged-Redmi-Note-7-front-and-rear-300x208.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/Alleged-Redmi-Note-7-front-and-rear-768x532.png 768w" sizes="(max-width: 864px) 100vw, 864px" /></a></p>
<p>All the Redmi phones that have launched so far have featured metallic chassis. However, the official video shown below reveals that it would be arriving with a glass rear. In the video, Xiaomi employees can be seen stamping on the phone. It successfully passes the torture test without any damage.</p>
<div style="width: 696px;" class="wp-video"><video class="wp-video-shortcode" id="video-230977-2" width="696" height="1236" preload="metadata" controls="controls"><source type="video/mp4" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/XmndLdbKePlwvPZgoKG7IzFYm304MuKsSZ2jvg___8.mp4?_=2" /><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/XmndLdbKePlwvPZgoKG7IzFYm304MuKsSZ2jvg___8.mp4">https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/XmndLdbKePlwvPZgoKG7IzFYm304MuKsSZ2jvg___8.mp4</a></video></div>
<p>The video reveals that the smartphone is equipped with a waterdrop notch display. The back panel of the phone has a dual camera setup and a fingerprint. It seems to be the very same phone that has <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/01/04/xiaomis-redmi-48mp-camera-phone-may-have-received-tenaa-approval/">recently received approval from TENAA</a> certification authority in China. Speaking of design, a leaked poster of the smartphone is now doing rounds on Weibo. The image has revealed the front and rear design of the phone.</p>
<p>The smartphone can be sporting a teardrop notch enabled display. The chin of the device is not visible because of the Chinese text overlaid on it. Apart from Black, the handset will be arriving in two color gradient options of blue-violet and purple-pink. Below the vertical dual camera setup, there is an LED flash and “48MP AI dual camera” text. The 48-megapixel rear camera of the phone will offer 4 times pixels than conventional smartphones. Through its TENAA listing it has been revealed that it is equipped with a 6.3-inch full HD+ display and it is packed with a 3,900mAh battery.</p>

<p>Rumors have it may debut as the first Snapdragon 675 mobile platform powered smartphone. Could it be the Redmi Note 7 phone? The Redmi Note 7 has appeared few hours ago <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/01/07/xiaomi-redmi-note-7-with-snapdragon-660-6-gb-ram-spotted-on-geekbench/">on Geekbench with Snapdragon 660 chipset</a>. The SD660 supports up to 25-megapixels camera while the Snapdragon 675 can support 48-megapixel photography. Hence, the phone that has surfaced in the video and Redmi Note 7 could be different handsets. Other rumors have claimed that the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/12/19/redmi-pro-2-leaked-posters-reveal-snapdragon-675-could-it-be-48mp-mystery-xiaomi-phone/">48-megapixel Redmi phone may debut as Redmi Pro 2</a>. The mystery will be revealed on Jan. 10 when it will be officially announced.</p>

<p><strong>Original Story:</strong></p>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/xiaomi">Xiaomi</a> is all set to spin off its Redmi sub-brand as a <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/01/03/lei-jun-explains-explains-redmi-independent-brand/">new independent brand</a> on Jan. 10 with the announcement of <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/01/03/xiaomi-redmi-48-megapixel-camera-phone-to-debut-on-january-10/">a new Redmi phone with 48-megapixel camera</a>v. Rumors are claiming that the mysterious Redmi device could be arriving in the market as Redmi Pro 2 while other reports have claimed that it could be the Redmi 7 Pro handset. Three model numbers such as M1901F7C, M1901F7E and M1901F7T have now surfaced on TENAA with preliminary specs just ahead of the Jan. 10 launch event. This suggests that the newly approved devices by TENAA could be the variants of the alleged Redmi Pro 2.</p>

<a href='https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/01/04/xiaomis-redmi-48mp-camera-phone-may-have-received-tenaa-approval/m1901f7e-tenaa/'><img width="560" height="460" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/M1901F7E-TENAA.png?x44794" class="attachment-full size-full" alt="" loading="lazy" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/M1901F7E-TENAA.png 560w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/M1901F7E-TENAA-300x246.png 300w" sizes="(max-width: 560px) 100vw, 560px" /></a>

<a href='https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/01/04/xiaomis-redmi-48mp-camera-phone-may-have-received-tenaa-approval/m1901f7t-tenaa/'><img width="557" height="456" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/M1901F7T-TENAA.png?x44794" class="attachment-full size-full" alt="M1901F7T TENAA" loading="lazy" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/M1901F7T-TENAA.png 557w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/M1901F7T-TENAA-300x246.png 300w" sizes="(max-width: 557px) 100vw, 557px" /></a>

<p>Since the M1901F7C, M1901F7E and M1901F7T devices have the same dimensions, display size and battery, they are three variants of an upcoming Xiaomi device. The handset measures 159.21 x 75.21 x 8.1mm and houses a 6.3-inch display. It is packed with a 3,900mAh battery. Xiaomi’s Redmi series of smartphones with better specs have always carried big batteries. Hence, it appears that it could be the 48-megapixel Redmi phone that is scheduled to go official in the coming week.</p>
<p>The TENAA listings of M1901F7C, M1901F7E and M1901F7T do not have their images. These TENAA listings may get updated with full specifications and images in the next few days. The aforementioned model numbers have been also <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/12/14/alleged-xiaomi-redmi-7-variants-m1901f7e-m1901f7t-and-m1901f7c-bag-3c-approval/">approved by China’s 3C authority</a> in the previous month.</p>

However, there are no details available on the others. In the previous month, TENAA had approved M1901F9T and M1901F9E models. These model numbers belong to the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/produt/xiaomi-mi-play">Xiaomi Mi Play</a> handset that went official on Dec. 24 in China. It is the first smartphone from the company that features a waterdrop notch enabled display. It is also the first phone to be fueled by MediaTek Helio P35. The other features of the Mi Play include 4 GB of RAM, 64 GB of inbuilt storage, 12-megaipxel + 2-megapixel dual camera setup, 8-megapixel selfie camera and 3,000mAh battery.</p>

The rumor mill has been speculating that it won’t be a Mi-series phone, but a new flagship phone under the Redmi brand name. Yesterday, through the Xiaomi Company Weibo account, the Chinese manufacturer confirmed that it will be announcing something new today. Today at 10 AM, the company confirmed that it will be holding a media event on Jan. 10 to announce a new Redmi phone. Also, with the launch of the new phone, Redmi will become an independent brand.</p>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/01/03/xiaomi-redmi-48-megapixel-camera-phone-to-debut-on-january-10/xiaomi-redmi-48-megapixel-camera-phone-teaser/" rel="attachment wp-att-230378"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-230378" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/Xiaomi-Redmi-48-megapixel-camera-phone-teaser.jpg?x44794" alt="" width="690" height="1227" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/Xiaomi-Redmi-48-megapixel-camera-phone-teaser.jpg 690w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/Xiaomi-Redmi-48-megapixel-camera-phone-teaser-169x300.jpg 169w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/Xiaomi-Redmi-48-megapixel-camera-phone-teaser-576x1024.jpg 576w" sizes="(max-width: 690px) 100vw, 690px" /></a></p>
<p>The shadow below the large-sized Redmi word clearly hints that the company will be unleashing a 48-megapixel camera enabled Redmi smartphone on Jan. 10. The event will be held at 2 PM (local time) on the said date in Beijing, China. The teaser image has no other details on the specifications of the upcoming 48-megapixel Redmi camera phone.</p>
<p>One important thing that can be deduced from the launch poster is the “new independent brand” text which suggests that Xiaomi is splitting the Redmi brand to make it independent like Huawei’s Honor and OPPO’s Realme. The following Weibo post also confirms that Xiaomi is indeed going to establish it as a separate brand.</p>

<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/12/19/xiaomi-redmi-7-pro-appears-in-live-photo-has-a-water-drop-notch/">In the previous month</a>, a Russian YouTuber had released a video to reveal the alleged Redmi 7 Pro in real. The video did not show the rear side of the phone, but the frontal view revealed that it will be arriving with a waterdrop notch screen. Unfortunately, no details are available on the specifications of the smartphone.</p>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-redmi-pro">Xiaomi Redmi Pro</a> from 2016 is the first Redmi phone to come with dual rear cameras. It was a better specced phone compared to the other Redmi phones that were released in the same year. Speculations are rife that the Redmi phone that is scheduled to go official on Jan. 10 could be the Redmi Pro 2 smartphone. The rumored handset is expected to succeed the original Redmi Pro phone. <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/12/19/redmi-pro-2-leaked-posters-reveal-snapdragon-675-could-it-be-48mp-mystery-xiaomi-phone/">Leaked posters</a> that have surfaced in the recent past have suggested that the Redmi Pro 2 smartphone will be fueled by 11nm Snapdragon 675 chipset.</p>
<p>Last month, the 3C authority of China had approved three Xiaomi smartphone units with model numbers <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/12/14/alleged-xiaomi-redmi-7-variants-m1901f7e-m1901f7t-and-m1901f7c-bag-3c-approval/">M1901F7E, M1901F7T and M1901F7C</a>. These could be the different variants of the forthcoming Redmi phone with 48-megapixel camera. With a week remaining for the Jan. 10 launch event, Xiaomi is very likely to release more teasers to reveal its other features.</p>

While the name of the handset is not yet confirmed, it is speculated to be a variant of the Redmi 7-series and could possibly be the Redmi 7 Pro.</p>
<p>The <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/TENAA/">TENAA</a> listing of the smartphone clearly says that the phone will come with a notched display, similar to Redmi 6 Pro. However, unlike the Redmi 6 Pro&#8217;s rectangular notch, the upcoming smartphone will sport a tiny water-drop notch, in line with the current trend.</p>
<p>Further, the listing reveals that it will come with a 5.84-inch display, which we expect to offer a Full HD+ screen resolution with 19:9 aspect ratio and some sort of screen protection on top such as Corning Gorilla Glass. The phone&#8217;s dimensions are also confirmed &#8212; 147.76×71.89×7.8mm.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-228032 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/12/Xiaomi-M1901F9T.jpg?x44794" alt="Xiaomi M1901F9T" width="579" height="507" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/12/Xiaomi-M1901F9T.jpg 579w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/12/Xiaomi-M1901F9T-300x263.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 579px) 100vw, 579px" /></p>
<p>Under the hood, the phone will be powered by a 2,900mAh battery. The phone will be powered by an Android-based <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/miui/">MIUI</a> 10, however, the specific Android version has not been revealed. Also, the phone features a dual camera setup on the back, powered by artificial intelligence. It also packs a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor for added protection.</p>
<p>The phone is speculated to be the Redmi 7 or Redmi 7 Pro given that the Redmi 6 and 6 Pro both comes with a 5.45-inch display and dimension measurement is also similar. If the M1901F9T is indeed the Redmi 7 series phone, it will be a significant improvement in terms of the screen-to-body ratio.</p>
<p>The &#8220;M19&#8221; in the phone&#8217;s model number indicates that the phone will be launched next year. This is in line with previous reports suggesting new Redmi smartphones launch in January 2019. We expect to get more information about the phone&#8217;s specifications in the coming days.</p>
<p>Notably, other smartphone models from <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/xiaomi/">Xioami</a> which have already passed the certification stage, including M1901F7C, M1901F7E, and M1901F7T, are also expected to be a part of the upcoming Redmi 7 series.</p>
<p>One of the recently certified phones from Xioami could be the one featuring 48-megapixel camera sensor. A <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/12/06/xiaomi-redmi-flagship-phone-with-48-megapixel-camera-rumored-to-launch-in-january-2019/">recent report</a> speculates that a Redmi series smartphone will pack a 48-megapixel camera sensor, which will be a part of a triple-camera setup. The phone could be powered by Qualcomm&#8217;s <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/10/23/xiaomi-snapdragon-675-smartphone/">Snapdragon 675</a> chipset.</p>

<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>The phone with a 48MP rear camera is also <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/12/10/xiaomis-48-megapixel-redmi-phone-may-feature-in-screen-camera/">reported to have a punch-hole</a> in the display to incorporate the selfie camera. Just like the Samsung Galaxy A8s and Honor View 20, this Xiaomi device will have an LCD panel provided by China-based display manufacturing company BOE.</p>
