Lately, smartphone OEMs have been increasing the price of their handsets due to the component shortage. Some of the popular models have received multiple price hikes in the past few months. Today, the price of five more Xiaomi phones has been incremented.

Xiaomi has quietly hiked the price of the following Redmi 9 series and Redmi Note 10 series smartphones in India.

• Redmi Note 10S

This is the first-ever price hike for the  Redmi Note 10 models listed above. Whereas, the price of these Redmi 9 devices has already been increased many times in the past.

POCO C3 came up as the first POCO smartphone in the entry-level segment. At the moment, Xiaomi has a lot of last-generation entry-level handsets. There are so many devices that it is very hard for non-expert people to recognize which one is the best for their actual needs. That is the reason why we decided to publish a comparison between three entry-level phones by Xiaomi. The first is the POCO C3, while the others are Redmi phones: Redmi 9i and Redmi 9 Prime. You can find all of these devices in the Indian market at very affordable prices.

Design

While the front side is pretty much the same, POCO C3, Redmi 9i and Redmi 9 Prime have different back covers. All are built with plastic materials, but they have a different look. Given that it comes with just one camera, the Redmi 9i has a cleaner back, but the camera module of the POCO C3 remains small, even though it contains three sensors. The Redmi 9 Prime looks less elegant due to its bigger camera module including a fingerprint reader, but it has better color variants: as you can see in the render, it is available in gradient colors. Last but not least, Redmi 9 Prime has a water-repellent design.

Display

Do not expect a huge quality from these devices when it comes to the displays. Just like most of the entry-level phones, POCO C3 and Redmi 9i have a below-average HD+ resolution. But the Redmi 9 Prime has a Full HD+ panel and it is actually able to provide a higher definition, as well as a high brightness. Further, it has the Gorilla Glass 3 protection making the front panel sturdier. In each case, you get IPS panels with no astonishing color reproduction, but all of them are sufficient displays.

Specs & Software

Even when it comes to the hardware, Redmi 9 Prime wins the comparison. The reason is simple: it has a better chipset. We are talking about the Helio G80 by MediaTek, definitely superior to the Helio G35 found on the POCO C3. Further, it has more internal storage: up to 128 GB in the most expensive variant. The POCO C3 takes the silver medal with its Helio G35 paired with up to 4 GB of RAM. Redmi 9i loses with its Helio G25, but it runs MIUI 12 out of the box like the POCO C3, while Redmi 9 Prime is still based on the MIUI 11 as it is an older device.

Camera

The best camera phone of the trio is again the Redmi 9 Prime which sports a 13 MP quad camera paired with an 8 MP ultrawide sensor and a pair of sensors with 5 and 2 MP resolutions for macro and depth calculation. POCO C3 lowers the macro camera to 2 MP and lacks the ultrawide sensor, but it has the same main sensor as the Redmi 9 Prime. Even the Redmi 9i has the same 13 MP sensor, but it lacks secondary cameras. Redmi 9 Prime is also the best selfie phone thanks to an 8 MP snapper.

Battery

POCO C3, Redmi 9 Prime, and Redmi 9i all feature 5000 mAh batteries, but the Redmi 9 Prime has a shorter battery life because it has a display with a higher resolution. The battery king should be Redmi 9i because it has a display with lower brightness, but it naturally depends on the usage.

Price

Redmi 9i is priced at less than Rs. 10,000 ($130) in India, Redmi 9 Prime costs Rs. 10,299 ($140) in its base variant and POCO C3 is priced at Rs. 7,499 (appr. $103). While the POCO C3 provides the highest value for money, the Redmi 9 Prime wins this comparison thanks to its better display and cameras, as well as a stronger chipset.

But they do not share only that letter in common: these devices are all affordable phones with a very high value for money. The Redmi 9i is an entry-level handset, while Realme 7i and Honor 30i are lower-midrange devices. Is it worth spending more to get lower-midrange “i” variants or the Redmi 9i is enough for your actual needs? In this comparison, we will try to answer this question and highlight the main differences between these three handsets.

Design

If you are looking for the most modern and elegant design, we believe you should go for the Realme 7i. Unlike the Redmi 9i and the Honor 30i sporting a waterdrop notch, the Realme 7i has a display with a single punch hole making the front panel way more elegant and futuristic. But if you just need a compact phone for better one-handed use which fits better in a pocket, then choose the Honor 30i which has smaller dimensions, it is thinner and even lighter (but it has a smaller display and battery).

Display

Despite its display is actually smaller, Honor 30i wins the display comparison for two reasons: first of all, it has a higher Full HD+ resolution with 1080 x 2400 pixels. Further, it has an AMOLED panel which shows more brilliant colors. The Honor 30i is also a device offering a higher brightness level. The silver medal goes to the Realme 7i which offers a 90 Hz refresh rate, but it has an IPS display with a lower HD+ resolution. Redmi 9i loses because it comes with an IPS HD+ display, as well as a standard refresh rate.

Specs & Software

If instead of a better display quality you need higher performance, get the Realme 7i without thinking twice. It is equipped with a Snapdragon 662 SoC by Qualcomm paired with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of UFS 2.1 internal storage. With the Honor 30i and the Redmi 9i, you get max 4 GB of RAM. In each case, you have Android 10 out of the box, but the Honor 30i launched without Google services due to the U.S. ban. The Honor 30i actually offers a better chipset than the Redmi 9i: the latter still performs well for an entry-level, but Kirin 710F is superior.

Camera

Just like happens in the hardware comparison, Realme 7i wins even the camera comparison. It has a better main sensor on its rear setup (a 64 MP lens with bright f/1.8 aperture) paired with more secondary sensors, including an 8 MP ultrawide camera and a pair of 2 MP lens for macro and depth calculation. Right after, we got the Honor 30i with a 48 MP triple camera including an ultrawide sensor and a pretty nice 16 MP front camera. Redmi 9i disappoints with its 13 MP main sensor.

Battery

The Redmi 9i is the handset that should provide the longest battery life because it has a huge 5000 mAh battery and it sports a standard refresh rate. Realme 7i sports the same battery capacity, but it has a 90 Hz refresh rate and it is more energy-demanding. On the other hand, unlike the Redmi 9i, it supports fast charging.

Price

Redmi 9i is priced about €100/$118, Realme 7i costs about €180/$213, and you need about €200/$237 to grab a unit of the Honor 30i. At the moment, none of these devices is on sale in the Old Continent: you can only find them in Asia. You should go for the Redmi 9i only if you want to save money: it offers a good user experience, but it can not compete with the Realme 7i and the Honor 30i in any way. Realme 7i has a bigger battery, great design, better hardware, and better cameras than Honor 30i, while the Honor 30i has a better display and it is a lot more compact. Today, the Chinese firm has unveiled the Redmi 9i phone in the country. The Redmi 9i offers the same specs as the Redmi 9A. However, the new phone comes with more RAM and larger internal storage.

Redmi 9i specifications and features

The Redmi 9i flaunts a 6.53-inch IPS LCD panel with a waterdrop notch. It delivers an HD+ resolution of 720 x 1600 and an aspect ratio of 20:9. The smartphone is powered by the modest Helio G25 entry-level gaming-focused chipset.

The Redmi 9i ships with 4 GB of LPDDR4x RAM. It comes in two storage choices such as 64 GB and 128 GB. In the past few weeks, Xiaomi has launched Redmi 9 Prime, Redmi 9, and Redmi 9A smartphones in India. Today, the company confirmed through its Redmi India Twitter account that it will be launching the Redmi 9i phone in the country on Sept. 15.

The Redmi 9i tweet released by the company confirms that the phone will come with a waterdrop notch display and 4 GB of RAM. The handset will be available for purchase on Mi.com and Flipkart.

The landing page of the phone that is now live on mi.com has further revealed that it will arrive with big internal storage, a large battery, better cameras, and gaming capabilities.  Also, it will come preinstalled with MIUI 12.

At the end of the previous month, Pricebaba had revealed that Xiaomi will be launching the Redmi 9i phone in India. The publication that cited information acquired from tipster Ishan Agarwal will be available in variants such as 4 GB RAM + 64 GB storage and 4 GB RAM + 128 GB storage. The handset will be available in color editions such as Nature Green, Sea Blue, and Midnight Black.

According to a new report on 91mobiles, Agarwal has revealed that the Redmi 9i will be selling in India with a starting price of Rs. 7,999 (~$109).

In comparison, the Redmi 9A variants such as 2 GB RAM + 32 GB storage and 3 GB RAM + 64 GB storage are priced at Rs. 6,799 (~$92) and Rs. 7,499 (~$102), respectively.
