The phone, which was launched with Android 10-based MIUI 12, may soon be getting its second Android upgrade in the form of <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/Android-12">Android 12</a>.</p>
<p>As spotted by <a href="https://xiaomiui.net/redmi-9t-android-12-update-tests-started-17400/#jp-carousel-17402">Xiaomiui</a>, build 22.4.2 based on Android 12 has begun testing internally for the global variant of the Redmi 9T. It isn&#8217;t clear if the build will be labeled MIUI 13 when it&#8217;s rolled out, although it does look quite probable.</p>
<figure id="attachment_452690" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-452690" style="width: 640px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-452690" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Redmi-9T-Android-12-internal-testing.jpg?x10805" alt="Redmi 9T Android 12 internal testing" width="640" height="248" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Redmi-9T-Android-12-internal-testing.jpg 640w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Redmi-9T-Android-12-internal-testing-300x116.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px" /><figcaption id="caption-attachment-452690" class="wp-caption-text">Via Xiaomiui</figcaption></figure>
<p>Of course, Android 12 will be the very Android version bump that the Redmi 9T will receive, but it&#8217;s not known if MIUI 13 will be the final MIUI upgrade.</p>
<p>As for when the leaked build will be officially rolled out for the Redmi 9T, well, there&#8217;s no clue as of yet. Xiaomiui expects it to be seeded after 3-4 months, which definitely isn&#8217;t the speediest we&#8217;ve seen, but considering the device was never meant to receive a second Android update in the first place, we aren&#8217;t complaining.</p>
<p>MIUI 13 isn&#8217;t a major update by any means and the number of new stuff you get with it seems to depend on the price of the device you own, for some reason. Devices like the Xiaomi Mi 11X have seen multiple new features while others like Redmi Note 10 Pro are left with barely any new items over MIUI 12.5.</p>

<p>The YouTube video posted by <em>Mobile Tech Podcast</em> has been pulled off but you can still check it out from below. The Redmi 9T is shown to have a key difference from the Poco M3 which is the rear camera configuration. While the Poco M3 packs three rear cameras, the 9T features four camera setup. The fourth lens is an 8MP ultra-wide-angle lens in addition to the 48MP primary wide-angle lens, 2MP depth sensor, and 2MP macro lens.</p>

<p>The display and other configurations are likely the same. This includes a 6.53-inch Full HD+ IPS display with a resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels. There is a waterdrop-style notch on the screen that houses an 8MP selfie camera. The device is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 662 processor paired with 4GB of RAM and 64GB/128GB of expandable storage. The device will also pack a large 6,000mAh battery.</p>

<p>There is no word yet as to when the device will be launched but the device was recently <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/12/29/redmi-9t-moniker-appears-in-nbtc-certification-global-launch-nearing/">certified in Thailand</a>. Also, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/12/30/xiaomi-launch-new-redmi-phone-malaysia-soon-redmi-9t/">Xiaomi Malaysia</a> recently instituted a contest that ends on the 7th of January 2021 that will see 10 lucky fans head home with a unit of a device suspected to be the Redmi 9T.  Thus, we believe the device will be launched pretty soon.</p>

But the company didn&#8217;t reveal the name of the unannounced smartphone. It only indicated that the phone will be a Redmi model which it dubbed Redmi XX.<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/redmi-new-phone.jpg?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-362804" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/redmi-new-phone.jpg?x10805" alt="" width="900" height="900" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/redmi-new-phone.jpg 900w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/redmi-new-phone-150x150.jpg 150w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/redmi-new-phone-300x300.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/redmi-new-phone-768x768.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/redmi-new-phone-696x696.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/redmi-new-phone-420x420.jpg 420w" sizes="(max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /></a></p>
<p>The teaser poster accompanying the contest contains a render of the device showing the rear camera. The image shows the device will pack a Quad-camera setup stacked vertically at the top left corner. The device looks like the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/11/27/redmi-note-9-series-china-teardown/">Redmi Note 9 4G</a> China version which is also similar to the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/12/05/poco-m3-vs-oppo-f17-vs-realme-7i-specs-comparison/">Poco M3</a>. Thus, there are strong speculations that this is the Redmi 9T which was<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/12/29/redmi-9t-moniker-appears-in-nbtc-certification-global-launch-nearing/"> certified in Thailand</a> recently. <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/redmi-note-9-4G-china.jpg?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-362805" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/redmi-note-9-4G-china.jpg?x10805" alt="Redmi 9T" width="768" height="532" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/redmi-note-9-4G-china.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/redmi-note-9-4G-china-300x208.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/redmi-note-9-4G-china-100x70.jpg 100w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/redmi-note-9-4G-china-218x150.jpg 218w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/redmi-note-9-4G-china-696x482.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/redmi-note-9-4G-china-606x420.jpg 606w" sizes="(max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px" /></a></p>
<div class="su-note" style="border-color:#e5e5e5;border-radius:3px;-moz-border-radius:3px;-webkit-border-radius:3px;"><div class="su-note-inner su-u-clearfix su-u-trim" style="background-color:#ffffff;border-color:#ffffff;color:#333333;border-radius:3px;-moz-border-radius:3px;-webkit-border-radius:3px;"><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/12/29/bison-2021-rugged-smartphone-to-be-launched-by-new-brand-f150/"><strong>Editor&#8217;s Pick:</strong></a> <strong><a title="The Best Smartwatches and Fitness Trackers of 2020" href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/12/29/the-best-smartwatches-and-fitness-trackers-of-2020/" rel="bookmark">The Best Smartwatches and Fitness Trackers of 2020</a></strong></div></div>
<p>To put it in perspective, the Redmi 9T is expected to feature a 6.53-inch Full HD+ IPS display and will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 662 processor paired with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of expandable storage. The device will also pack a large 6,000mAh battery.</p>
<p>The camera setup will be similar to that of the Poco M3 which includes a 48MP main camera, a 2MP macro lens, and a 2MP depth sensor. the Redmi 9T is said to have a fourth sensor which is an 8MP ultra-wide-angle camera. The design is similar to the Redmi Note 9 4G still, except that where there is an LED sensor on the Redmi Note 9 4G, there will be a sensor.</p>
<p>There is no word yet as to when the device will be launched but considering that the contest ends on the 7th of January 2021, the new phone could be revealed as early as next week. We can&#8217;t guess the price tag but since the POCO M3 starts at RM599 (~$148) for the 64GB version and RM699 (~$173) for the 128GB, we expect the Redmi 9T to be priced around that region.</p>

<p>The model number of the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-redmi-note-9-4g">Redmi Note 9 4G</a> that debuted in China last month is M2010J19SC. The teaser page on Xiaomi&#8217;s website teases the device&#8217;s power-packed battery, performance, display, camera, and more. While the device is likely a tweaked version of the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-redmi-note-9-4g/">Redmi Note 9 4G(China)</a>, tipster Ishan Agarwal shares an exclusive render of the device.</p>
<figure id="attachment_357016" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-357016" style="width: 849px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-357016" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Redmi-Note-9-4G-.jpg?x10805" alt="Redmi Note 9 4G" width="849" height="550" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Redmi-Note-9-4G-.jpg 849w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Redmi-Note-9-4G--300x194.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Redmi-Note-9-4G--768x498.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Redmi-Note-9-4G--696x451.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Redmi-Note-9-4G--648x420.jpg 648w" sizes="(max-width: 849px) 100vw, 849px" /><figcaption id="caption-attachment-357016" class="wp-caption-text">Redmi Note 9 4G</figcaption></figure>
<p>As reported by <a href="https://www.91mobiles.com/hub/redmi-9-power-camera-specs-exclusive/">91Mobiles</a>, the tipster shares a rear image of the upcoming Redmi 9 Power. Accordingly, the image shows the rear panel of the Redmi 9 Power in Blue Color. As you can see below, the rectangular camera layout is similar to the Redmi Note 9 4G that <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/11/26/redmi-note-9-5g-redmi-note-9-pro-and-note-9-4g-launched-in-china/">launched in China last month</a>.  However, it has an additional sensor, unlike the Chinese variant.</p>
<p>This is something we have already reported <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/11/28/redmi-9t-m2010j19sg-for-global-markets-could-be-a-tweaked-version-of-chinas-redmi-note-9-4g/">courtesy of FCC</a> and Google Play Console listings. Consequently, the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/Redmi-9-Power/">Redmi 9 Power</a> and other versions(<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/12/01/redmi-note-9t-bags-nbtc-certification-launch-could-be-nearing/">Redmi 9T</a>) will have an additional 2MP macro sensor replacing the &#8216;AI&#8217; logo on the Chinese variant.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-359541" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/redmi-9-power-1.jpg?x10805" alt="" width="1280" height="720" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/redmi-9-power-1.jpg 1280w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/redmi-9-power-1-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/redmi-9-power-1-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/redmi-9-power-1-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/redmi-9-power-1-696x392.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/redmi-9-power-1-1068x601.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/redmi-9-power-1-747x420.jpg 747w" sizes="(max-width: 1280px) 100vw, 1280px" /></p>
<p>Anyway, the rest of the render shows a &#8217;48MP&#8217;, &#8216;SUPER QUAD CAMERA'(instead of TRIPLE) logo. Additionally, the device&#8217;s textured rear panel, LED Flashlight placement are similar to the Chinese variant. As for the rear camera specs, the device will have a 48MP main(wide), 8MP ultra-wide, two 2MP macro and depth sensors.</p>
<h4><strong>Redmi 9 Power Specifications</strong></h4>
<p>The extra sensor aside, the Redmi 9 Power will mostly be the same as the Note 9 4G in China. It will feature a 6.53-inch IPS LCD FHD+ display, Qualcomm&#8217;s <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/snapdragon-662">Snapdragon 662 SoC</a>, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/12/01/mi-10i-redmi-9-power-storage-variants-colors-leak-india/">4GB RAM, and 64/128GB storage</a>.</p>
<p>Other specs will include an 8MP selfie shooter, 6,000mAh battery with 18W charging, <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/MIUI-12">MIUI 12</a> based on Android 10 out of the box. Also, the teaser page confirms that Redmi 9 Power will come in Orange, Black, Green colors apart from the Blue render shown above.</p>

The Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) has recently approved a Redmi phone with model number M2010J19SG. The ECC certification (spotted by popular tipster <a href="https://twitter.com/stufflistings/status/1332233799560699905"><em>Mukul Sharma</em></a>) suggests that the device could be heading to the global market soon.</p>
<p>The ECC listing of the M2010J19SG has not revealed any information on its specs. However, a <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/11/28/redmi-9t-m2010j19sg-for-global-markets-could-be-a-tweaked-version-of-chinas-redmi-note-9-4g/">recent report</a> has revealed that this model may launch as the Redmi 9T in global markets. Moreover, it is believed that this device will be arriving with a quad-camera setup instead of the triple camera system found on the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-redmi-note-9-4g">Redmi Note 9 4G</a> of China.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-357033" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Redmi-M2010J19SG-EEC-listing.png?x10805" alt="" width="900" height="402" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Redmi-M2010J19SG-EEC-listing.png 900w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Redmi-M2010J19SG-EEC-listing-300x134.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Redmi-M2010J19SG-EEC-listing-768x343.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/Redmi-M2010J19SG-EEC-listing-696x311.png 696w" sizes="(max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /></p>
<p>The Redmi 9T is reportedly coming with a 48-megapixel (main) + 8-megapixel (ultrawide) + 2-megapixel (macro) + 2-megapixel (depth) quad-camera system. In comparison, China’s Redmi Note 9 4G is equipped with a 48-megapixel (main) + 8-megapixel (ultrawide) + 2-megapixel (depth) triple camera system. It is advisable to wait for further reports to know whether the M2010J19SG will be arriving to global markets as the Redmi 9T.</p>
