Redmi launches its first gaming laptop in China dubbed as Redmi G. It comes in three variants powered by three different chipsets. But the design and most specifications are common on all the models. It starts at 5,299 yuan ($763) and will be available starting August 17.

Redmi G Gaming Laptop Specifications

All the three models of the Redmi G gaming laptop sport a 16.1-inch FHD (1920 x 1080 pixels) LCD panel with 100% sRGB color gamut, 81% screen-to-body ratio, 178° viewing angle, brightness of 300 nits, and anti-glare coating. However, only the mid and top variant feature 144Hz refresh rate, whereas the base model comes with the standard 60Hz refresh rate.

Under the hood, they feature three different processors and two different GPUs.

Talking about common parameters, they feature identical boxy design with a 720p webcam at the chin of the display, full size backlit keyboard with 1.5mm keystroke, Hurricane Cooling 2.0 copper cooling system with dual-fan, 2 x 2W speakers, DTS:X Ultra 3D Sound, Microsoft Windows 10 Home Chinese version, and 55Whr battery.  As for memory, all the models come with 16GB ( 2 x 8GB) 2933MHz DDR4 RAM and 512GB PCIe × 4 NVMe SSD (up to 2TB).

Earlier today (13th August 2020), certain specs and features of the upcoming Redmi G Gaming laptop were officially confirmed by the company through its Weibo account, a Chinese microblogging website.

According to the post shared on the popular social media platform, the Redmi G Gaming laptop will feature Intel’s latest 10th gen Core processors and are expected to be paired with NVIDIA‘s discrete GPU offerings. Furthermore, its display will feature a high refresh rate, which is beneficial for various esports title, and measures in at 16.1 inches. The display resolution is 1080p with a 100 percent sRGB color gamut and a 144Hz refresh rate.

Under the hood, an Intel i7 10th Gen processor runs the gaming notebook with NVIDIA GPU expecting to start from the GTX 16 series to even the RTX cards as well. The official image posters also revealed that the laptops will feature improved cooling solutions thanks to its two fans that connect to its two heat pipes, with the laptop featuring a four outlet design.

Speaking of the design, the company has opted for a clean and Mecha armor-like aesthetic, with the back portion also featuring the usual ports including the charging port, am HDMI port, mini DP ports, a LAN port as well. Redmi, after splitting from its parent company Xiaomi, has expanded its product lineup from smartphones and is focused on increasing product categories. The company has already entered the laptops market with the launch of RedmiBook.

Today, the company confirmed that it will be launching its first gaming laptop and revealed that the product is named Redmi G Gaming Notebook. The image shared by the company announcing this has also revealed the laptop’s design.

From the teaser poster, it’s clearly visible that Redmi has opted for an all-black color theme for the gaming laptop, which has a matte finish. There are thin bezels on the left and right side and a slightly thicker bezel on the top, but the chin is quite thicker.

It also seems that there are cooling fans on the sides of the fuselage, giving it a traditional gaming laptop look which we have been seeing from other brands. As for the configuration, nothing related to this device is known at this time.

The Redmi G Gaming Notebook is all set to get launched in the company’s home market China on 14th August at a launch event, which will take place at 02:00 PM local time.

Redmi seems to be following the footsteps of Xiaomi, which has also launched its dedicated gaming laptop lineup. Last year, the Xiaomi Mi Gaming Laptop lineup was launched, powered by the Intel Coffe Lake processors.
