The Redmi Note series is Xiaomi’s most popular smartphone lineup worldwide. The company is known for introducing the masses to some of the high-end features with this product lineup. For instance, the Redmi Note 7 Pro was the first budget smartphone to feature a 48MP camera. This handset along with Redmi Note 7 and Redmi Go have now reached their end of life.

According to Xiaomiui, Xiaomi has ended software support for three of its popular phones from 2019. These handsets are Redmi Note 7 (aka Redmi Note 7S), Redmi Note 7 Pro, and Redmi Go. They are officially over 3 years old now.

The Redmi Note 7 lineup was introduced with MIUI 10 based on Android 9.0 Pie. Throughout their lifetime, the phones have received two MIUI updates (MIUI 11 and MIUI 12) and a single Android update (Android 10). They currently run MIUI 12.5.

On the other hand, the Redmi Go debuted with MIUI 10 based on Android 8.1 Oreo Go Edition. Three years after its launch, the entry-level smartphone still runs on the same software. It only received security patches throughout its lifetime.

Having said that, though Xiaomi did not provide Android 11 for the Redmi Note 7 series, users can experience not only Android 11 but also Android 12 via custom ROMs. The two phones are still popular in the third-party development community. The Redmi Go also has a number of custom ROMs based on Android 10 and Android 11.

Anyway, third-party software is not recommended for everyone. If you are one of those niche audiences, you should definitely try it to breathe a new life into your aging out of support handsets.

Starting from today, smartphone will be selling at increased pricing in India. The reason behind the price hike is the increase in the GST rate from 12 percent to 18 percent. Xiaomi India has confirmed the revised pricing of its Mi and Redmi branded phones. The below mentioned phones will be available with new pricing on the official online store, e-commerce sites and retail stores soon.

Redmi Note 9 series

The Redmi Note 9 Pro Max models like 4+64, 6+128 and 8+128 launched for Rs. 14,999 (~$197) Rs. 16,999 (~$222) and Rs. 18,999 (~$249) price tags. Their new prices are Rs. 16,499 (~$216), Rs. 17,999 (~$236) and Rs. 19,999 (~$262). The Redmi Note 9 Pro variants such as 4+64 and 6+128 debuted for Rs. 12,999 (~$170) and Rs. 15,999 (~$209). They will now sell for Rs. 13,999 (~$183) and Rs. 16,999.

Redmi K20 series

The vanilla Redmi K20 editions like 6+64 and 6+128 were selling for Rs. 19,999 and Rs. 22,999 (~$301). They will now sell for Rs. 21,999 (~$288) and RS. 24,999 (~$327). The Redmi K20 Pro editions like 6+128 and 8+256 were priced at Rs. 24,999 and Rs. 27,999 (~$366). Their new prices are Rs. 26,999 (~$353) and Rs. 29,999 (~$393).

Redmi Note 8 series

The Redmi Note 8 Pro 6+64, 6+128 and 8+128 debuted for Rs. 14,999, Rs. 15,999 and Rs. 17,999. These will be available for Rs. 15,999, Rs. 16,999 and Rs. 18,999, respectively. The Redmi Note 8 models such as 4+64 and 6+128 have been available for Rs. 10,499 and Rs. 12,999. Their new prices are Rs. 10,999 (~$144) and Rs. 13,999.

Redmi 8 series

The Redmi 8A Dual 2+32 and 3+32 will be available for Rs. 6,999 (~$91) and Rs. 7,999 (~$105) instead of its regular price tags of Rs. 6,499 (~$85) and Rs. 6,999. The Redmi 8A variants like 2+32 and 2+32 previously sold for Rs. 6,199 (~$81) and 6,499. They will now be available for Rs. 6,699 and Rs. 6,999. The Redmi 8 4+64 edition will carry new price tag of Rs 8,999 (~$118) instead of its Rs. 7,999 (~$105) pricing.

Redmi Note 7 Pro, Redmi 7 and Redmi Go

There is no change in the pricing of Redmi Note 7 Pro. Hence, its 4+64, 6+64 and 6+128 variants will continue to cost Rs. 10,999, Rs. 12,999 and Rs. 13,999.

The Redmi 7A editions like 2+16 and 2+32 previously sold for Rs 5,999 and Rs. 6,199. Their increased price tags are Rs. 6,499 and Rs. 6,699 (~87). The Redmi Go will now sell for Rs. 4,999 (~$65) instead of its regular price of Rs. 4,499 (~$59).

Xiaomi Mi A3

The Xiaomi Mi A3 editions like 4+64 and 6+128 sold for Rs. 11,999 and Rs. 14,999. The pricing of its 6 GB RAM edition hasn’t changed, but the base model’s cost has increased to Rs. 12,999.

A new update is rolling out to the Redmi Go that brings May’s security patch to the device. The update already arrived on my device today and it weighs in at about 105MB.

This marks the second security update I have received since I got my hands on the phone. The Redmi Go arrived with Android 8.1 Oreo (Go edition) with January’s security patch. An update along with February’s security patch was available after setup and now it has received May’s security patch.

It appears Redmi will release security updates every three months for the device. However, there is still no news of an update to Android Pie (Go Edition).

The Redmi Go has a 5.0-inch HD display, a Snapdragon 425 processor and 1 GB of RAM. Initially, it was only available with 8GB of storage but Redmi announced a 16GB version for the Indian market yesterday. We don’t know if this new version will eventually replace the 8GB version just as the Redmi Note 7S will replace the Redmi Note 7 in India. There is also no news of the new storage variant being available outside India.

The rest of the specs are an 8MP rear camera, a 5MP selfie camera, a 3.5mm audio jack, a MicroUSB port, dual SIM slots, a dedicated MicroSD card slot, and a 3000mAh battery.

In March, Xiaomi had launched the Redmi Go as its first Android Go phone. The smartphone that came with 8 GB of RAM was introduced with a price tag of Rs. 4,499. Today, the Chinese firm has introduced a 16 GB storage version of the Redmi Go in the country with a price tag of Rs. 4,799 Yuan (~$69).

Apart from modified internal storage, the 16 GB Redmi Go features the same specs as its 8 GB variant. The new model is now available for purchase through Mi.com, Flipkart and Mi Home stores.

Xiaomi Redmi Go Specifications and Features

The polycarbonate bodied Xiaomi Redmi Go is fitted with a 5-inch display that carries support for HD resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels. It offers an aspect ratio of 16:9. The Snapdragon 435 SoC that includes a 1.4 GHz quad-core processor is present under the hood of the device along with 1 GB of RAM.

The Redmi Go now comes in 8 GB and 16 GB storage choices and its loaded with Android Oreo (Go edition). There is a microSD card slot on the device for more storage. For photography, its rear shell is equipped with an 8-megapixel camera with f/2.0 aperture and a 5-megapixel front camera with f/2.0 aperture. The smartphone lacks a fingerprint sensor. There is a 3,000mAh battery inside the phone. It includes other features like dual-SIM slots, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS and 3.5mm audio jack.

The Redmi Go is the first Android Go device from Redmi/Xiaomi. The phone launched a few months ago and has made its way to various markets. Like most Android Go phones, it has just 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage. However, there is a dedicated MicroSD card slot and support for adoptable storage.

Nevertheless, it appears Redmi may launch a new variant with more storage, according to a new teaser. Earlier today, the official Redmi Twitter account shared a teaser hinting at a new variant with more storage.

A translation of the tweet says “More space = More photos”. The tweet also uses the same hashtag #ApkiNayiDuniya as the one used when the Redmi Go was about to launch, hence the deduction that the Redmi Go will be getting a new storage variant. We are not sure what the new storage capacity will be but we presume it will likely be 16GB. We hope Redmi launches a new color variant too since the phone only comes in two colors.

The Redmi Go has a 5-inch HD display. It is powered by the Snapdragon 425 processor, supports storage expansion (up to 128GB) via a MicroSD card, has an 8MP rear camera, and a 5MP front-facing camera. There is a 3000mAh battery under the hood, a MicroUSB port, and a 3.5mm audio jack.

Hours after its event in India, Xiaomi also had an event in Lagos, Nigeria, where it announced three new phones – the Redmi Note 7, the Redmi 7 (and the Redmi Go). These three phones already launched in various regions this year but are now available in sub-Saharan Africa.

Redmi Note 7

The Redmi Note 7 launches as the first phone with a 48MP camera in Nigeria. It will be available in three variants and they will sell for the following prices:

3GB RAM + 32GB = NGN 58,000

4GB RAM + 64GB = NGN 66,900

4GB RAM + 128GB = NGN 75,500

The Redmi Note 7 has a 6.3-inch FHD+ Dot Drop Display covered in Gorilla Glass 5. There is Gorilla Glass 5 on the rear too. Xiaomi demonstrated how strong the display is by slamming it against a table repeatedly. The Snapdragon 660 is the chipset under the hood.

The 48MP rear camera is paired with a 5MP depth sensor. There is a 13MP camera in front for selfies and you get a 4,000mAh battery that supports Quick Charge 4.

The Redmi Note 7 will be sold by Jumia Nigeria, beginning on April 29. It will also be available at Slot and Pointek stores. The phone comes in Nebula Red, Space Black, and Neptune Blue.

Redmi 7

The Redmi Note 7 arrived alongside its younger brother, the Redmi 7, which also launched in India earlier today. The Redmi 7 also has a Dot Drop display but its slightly smaller at 6.2 inches and which has an HD+ resolution. The display is certified as safe by TUV Rheinland and is also covered in Gorilla Glass 5.

The Redmi 7 is powered by the Snapdragon 632, the same processor in the Moto G7 Play and Moto G7 Power. The phone will be available in the following configurations along with their respective prices:

2GB RAM + 16GB = NGN 42,000

3GB RAM + 32GB = NGN 47,500

3GB RAM + 64GB = NGN 53,500.

The Redmi 7 has dual cameras too but a 12MP primary sensor paired with a 2MP depth sensor. There is an 8MP AI selfie camera in front. The camera app has a feature called Palm Shutter which allows you to take a picture just by waving your hand in front of the screen.

Like the Redmi Note 7, it also has an IR blaster and runs MIUI 10 based on Android Pie. It has a triple card slot (dual nano + MicroSD card) and supports Dual 4G Dual VoLTE.

Redmi Go

The Redmi Go wasn’t technically announced at the event. It wasn’t even mentioned at all. However, it is already on sale in Nigeria and can be purchased on Jumia Nigeria. It is available for N22,000 naira on the online store.

A Xiaomi executive revealed that details about after sales services will be revealed next week. He also said other products in the Mi Ecosystem will be released in the coming months.

Samsung has just announced its third Android Go smartphone: the Galaxy A2 Core. It is one of the most affordable alternatives for people who search for a smooth phone under 100 bucks. But just like flagship and midrange devices, even a device in the most affordable segment of the market has a lot of rivals, especially since Google released Android Go, the Lite version of Android for entry-level devices with low-end or outdated chipsets and a low quantity of RAM. Among the most recent Android Go phones there are the best-selling Redmi Go by Xiaomi and the Nokia 1 Plus: are they better or less impressive than Samsung Galaxy A2 Core? This specs comparison will let you find out.

Design

Unimpressive design and cheap materials in each case. Samsung Galaxy A2 Core, Xiaomi Redmi Go and Nokia 1 Plus all come with a standard plastic body and pretty thick bezels around the display. The most modern and beautiful one is the Nokia 1 Plus as it comes with a taller 18:9 aspect ratio, while Samsung Galaxy A2 Core and Xiaomi Redmi Go sport 16:9 displays. On the other hand, Nokia 1 Plus has bigger dimensions, so compact phone lovers may prefer its two rivals. But my choice when it comes to the aesthetics would definitely be the Nokia 1 Plus.

Display

As they are entry-level handsets, you can not expect a good detail and a nice color reproduction on these displays. Xiaomi Redmi Go is a clear winner because it is the only one to sport an HD panel, with a resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels. The resolution of the Samsung Galaxy A2 Core and Nokia 1 Plus is below HD, so they are a bit disappointing under this point of view. But it is worth noting that Nokia 1 Plus has a bigger display, so it may be more comfortable for advanced tasks. But if you are only looking for the quality, then choose the Xiaomi Redmi Go without thinking twice.

Specs

Most of the time, when we compare the performances of Samsung midrange phones with Xiaomi phones, Xiaomi wins. But this time it is not so, as the Samsung Galaxy A2 Core is equipped with a better chipset than both the Xiaomi Redmi Go and Nokia 1 Plus. It sports the octa-core Exynos 7870, the same processor built at 14 nm that you can find on the Samsung Galaxy J7 (2018), just to give you an idea. You will not get the same performance as the J7 since there is just 1 GB of RAM, but we are talking about something definitely superior to the Snapdragon 425 and the cheap MediaTek chipset found on the Nokia 1 Plus. Nokia 1 Plus takes the second place: even though it has a better chipset than the Redmi Go, the latter comes with just 8 GB of internal storage, while Samsung Galaxy A2 Core and Nokia 1 Plus go up to 16 GB. Also note that Android Go on the Nokia 1 Plus is based on Android 9 Pie, while Redmi Go and Galaxy A2 Core are still based on Oreo.

Camera

We still did not test the cameras of these Android Go devices, but on the paper, Samsung Galaxy A2 Core seems more interesting. Despite coming with a lower resolution for the rear camera, it has a bright aperture and it may behave in a better way in low light conditions. Further, it can record 1080p video, while Nokia 1 Plus can not do it. Right after, we got the Xiaomi Redmi Go with its 8 MP rear camera.

Battery

Just looking at the specs on the paper, it is hard to understand which phone will last more on a single charge. The Samsung Galaxy A2 Core has a very efficient SoC as well as an efficient display panel with its below-HD resolution, but its battery is also smaller. On the other hand, the Nokia 1 Plus comes with Android Pie and the same resolution, but it has a bigger display and a less efficient SoC, while Xiaomi Redmi Go has a higher resolution but also a bigger battery. Only software optimization will prove who is better.

Android Go smartphones are the best way to get a decent device for a few bucks. Thanks to this Lite version of Google’s operating system, even device with outdated or extremely low-end hardware can run smooth enough to handle all the base tasks in a sufficient way. That is why it was very expectable that the new Redmi Go would have made a lot of success once in the market. But is it really the best Android Go alternative you can get in its price range or there are better ones? We will try to let you find out by comparing it with two recent Android Go devices which deserve attention: the Nokia 1 Plus by HMD Global and the Asus Zenfone Live L1.

Redmi Go vs Nokia 1 Plus vs Asus Zenfone Live L1

Design

Cheap materials are very common on affordable smartphones sold for less than €100, and these devices are not an exception. All of them come with a plastic body, with Xiaomi Redmi Go showing very thick bezels around the display due to the 16:9 aspect ratio. In terms of aesthetics, Nokia 1 Plus and Asus Zenfone Live L1 are definitely better and I would personally go for the former because it is slightly more compact than its Taiwanese rival. You can get more color choices with the latter, so make sure to check them out before deciding.

Display

If you are looking for the most detailed and satisfying display, then you should exclude the Nokia 1 Plus immediately due to its below-HD resolution. Fortunately, both Xiaomi Redmi Go and Asus Zenfone come with an HD display, but Redmi Go has an outdated 16:9 panel, while Asus Zenfone Live L1 comes with a taller 18:9 display which boasts narrower bezels. Further, the display is wider. That is why Asus Zenfone Live L1 wins the display comparison.

Specs

Asus Zenfone Live L1 is the most powerful phone here due to its higher-end memory configurations. It comes with up to 2 GB of RAM while Xiaomi Redmi Go and Nokia 1 Plus stop at just 1 GB. The internal storage goes up to 32 GB (furtherly expandable with a micro SD), while you get max 16 GB for the Nokia 1 Plus and just 8 GB for Xiaomi Redmi Go. Note that Nokia 1 Plus is the only one based on Android Pie, so it should come with better software optimization.  However, its lower-end chipset and its low amount of RAM do not push it at the same level as the Zenfone Live L1. Nokia 1 Plus has better Wi-Fi connectivity as well as a more advanced Bluetooth version.

Camera

Again, the victory goes to the Asus Zenfone Live L1. It has a rear camera with a way higher resolution and it is able to record videos in 1080p at 30 fps. Further, it has a front-facing LED flash, unlike its rivals. At the second place, we put the Xiaomi Redmi Go with its 8 MP rear snapper, nothing special but it clicks decent shots when light conditions are good. Nokia 1 Plus is a bit disappointing, especially on the video side as it can only record in 720p with its 8 MP rear camera.

Battery

Thanks to the smaller display, a very efficient SoC and a pretty nice 3000 mAh battery, Xiaomi Redmi Go provides a long battery life and it wins the battery comparison, despite it is not based on Android Pie. The second place goes to the Asus Zenfone Live L1 but not in every scenario.

Xiaomi recently made it impossible or users of MIUI China ROM to flash their phones with the Global ROM. This doesn’t stop users for flashing their MIUI ROMs in order to install third-party ROM that delivers pure Android, for those in the global market. In order to make it easy to flash the ROM Xiaomi often releases the kernel source codes of its new models soon after they become official. The Chinese tech giant has been consistent in that regard and now, the kernel sources of the Redmi Go and Redmi Note 7 has been released. The kernel sources for the Redmi Note 7 (India) codenamed Lavender and the Redmi Go device codenamed Tiare has been uploaded to GitHub.

The Redmi Note 7 was launched in India recently alongside the Redmi Note 7 Pro. The Redmi Go was announced only a couple of days back in India. The models all offer decent hardware at affordable prices. The Redmi Note 7 (India) is only different from the China version in the camera aspect. It has a 12MP sensor as its main camera instead of the 48MP sensor on the China version.

The released kernel source codes for these models will afford developers the opportunity to work on stuff like porting TWRP custom recovery for these devices. With a custom recovery, users will be able to flash different ROMs on their devices. Since developers are already building a custom TWRP recovery for the Redmi Note 7, this should help with a stable version of the custom recovery. The Redmi Note 7 Pro Kernel source is yet to be released but we expect that to be done soon.

After launching almost two months ago, the Redmi Go is now available in India. This is the first Android Go smartphone from Xiaomi/Redmi and just like other Android Go phones, its specs are entry-level.

The Redmi Go has a 5-inch 720p display with a 16:9 aspect ratio. It is powered by the Snapdragon 425 quad-core processor and is paired with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage. With a dedicated MicroSD card slot that allows you add up to 128GB of storage, you shouldn’t have to worry about running out of space.

There is a 5MP camera for selfies with AI Beautify and an 8MP camera with LED flash on the back. The camera app is said to have 13 different filters, 11 different scenes, and an HDR mode. The phone can also record videos in 1080p.

The Redmi Go runs Android Oreo (Go Edition) out of the box even though Android Pie (Go Edition) is already available. The phone comes with apps like Mail Go, YouTube Go, and Maps Go. There is also Google Assistant (Go Edition) with support for over 5 languages including Hindi.  There is a 3,000mAh battery under the hood that charges via a MicroUSB port. It also has a 3.5mm audio jack at the bottom but no IR sensor. The Redmi Go has dual SIM support but doesn’t support dual 4G. There is Bluetooth 4.2 and  2.4GHz Wi-Fi for connectivity.

The phone comes in blue and black and will sell for INR 4,499 (~$65). It will be available for purchase by 12 PM on March 22.

Xiaomi is getting set to launch a new smartphone in India on March 19. The Chinese giant has released a press invite to an event scheduled for March 19 in India. The invitation contains the texts, “‘Go’ #MiForYou” which points to the launch of Xiaomi’s first Redmi Go smartphone for the Indian market. The price of the device isn’t revealed but it carries an 80 Euros price tag in Europe. 

The Redmi Go smartphone was launched a couple of months back as Xiaomi’s first Android Go smartphone. The phone looks very much like the top-selling and cool Redmi 4A model which was one of the company’s highest -grossing smartphone till date. The back may look more like the Redmi 6A but the 6A is basically a redesigned Redmi 4A. The launch also pitches the device as the third Xiaomi phone after Mi A1 and Mi A2 and the first Redmi model to run pure Android OS.

Specs wise, the Redmi Go features a 5-inch display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. The device is powered by a 1.4GHz quad-core Snapdragon 425 processor. Xiaomi has already confirmed that it will be launching the Redmi Note 7 smartphone in India on Feb. 28. It is speculated that the company will be announcing multiple devices on the same day. A new leak reveals that the Chinese manufacturer will be launching the Redmi Note 7 Pro, Redmi Go and Mi Sports Bluetooth Headset Youth Edition in India alongside the Redmi Note 7 on Thursday.

Redmi Note 7 Price, Variants and Key Specs

The leak states that Redmi Note 7 will be available in two models in India such as 3 GB RAM + 32 GB storage and 4 GB RAM + 64 GB storage. These models could be respectively priced at 9,999 and Rs. 11,999. The Redmi Note 7 for India could be different from the same phone that was launched in China in January.

According to the leak, the Redmi Note 7 for India will be powered by Snapdragon 636. It’s the same SoC that powers the Redmi Note 6 Pro and Redmi Note 5 Pro smartphones in the country. Also, it will be equipped with f/2.2 aperture Sony IMX486 12-megapixel main sensor on the rear and a front-facing camera of OV13855 13-megapixel. Through another leak it has been revealed that it will be available in Black, Blue and Red colors in the country.

Redmi Note 7 Pro Price, Variants and Key Specs

It appears that China’s Redmi Note 7 will be releasing in India as Redmi Note 7 Pro since the leak states that the Pro variant will be equipped with Snapdragon 660, Samsung ISOCELL Bright GM1 48-megapixel primary sensor for dual rear cameras and OV13855 13-megapixel frontal camera.

The Redmi Note 7 Pro is expected to debut in two models such as 4 GB RAM + 64 GB storage and 6 GB RAM + 128 GB storage. These variants will be respectively priced at Rs. 13,999 and Rs. 16,999. Through another leak it has been known that the Redmi Note 7 Pro will be hitting India in Black, Gradient Blue and Gradient Red colors.

Redmi Go Price, Variants and Key Specs

Redmi Go Android Go Oreo phone powered by the modest Snapdragon 425 will be also debuting this Thursday in India. Its other key specs include 1 GB of RAM, 8 GB of native storage, f/2.0 aperture 8-megapixel rear camera and f/2.2 aperture 5-megapixel front camera. It is expected to be available with a price tag of Rs. 3,499 in India for the first three months.

Xiaomi is also rumored to sell the Mi Sports Bluetooth Headset Youth Edition in India with a price tag of Rs. 1,499.

It is advisable to digest the report with a grain of salt as there is no concrete evidence to support the above leak.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 Specifications

The Redmi Note 7 has a waterdrop-style notch screen of 6.3 inches which produces full HD+ resolution and 19.5:9 aspect ratio. The Snapdragon 660 chipset powers the smartphone. In China, the handset was introduced with up to 6 GB of RAM and a native storage of 64 GB. There is a microSD card slot on the device for more storage.

A vertical dual camera setup with 48-megapixel Samsung ISOCELL GM1 sensor and 5-megapixel depth sensor is fitted on the back panel of the Redmi Note 7. The front notch is equipped with 13-megapixel selfie snapper. It may receive power from a 4,000mAh battery. The phone is equipped with 18W fast charging through USB-C.

In India, the Redmi Note 7 may release in two models such as 3 GB RAM + 32 GB storage and 4 GB RAM + 64 GB storage. Previously, we reported that the newly formed sub-brand of Xiaomi — Redmi, is gearing up to launch its Redmi Note 7 as well as two other smartphones in the Indian market by the end of this quarter, i.e. March this year. The three smartphones that the company is all set to launch in India by March 2019 include Redmi Note 7, Redmi Note 7 Pro, and Redmi Go.

Recently, Xiaomi teased the India launch of Redmi Note 7 by posting an image of Xiaomi CEO and Xiaomi India MD holding the smartphone. While the launch date is not yet announced, the storage variants and color options of Redmi Note 7 and Redmi Go for the Indian market has been revealed.

According to the report coming from MSP, the Redmi Note 7 smartphone will be available in two variants at the time of launch in India — 3GB RAM with 32GB internal storage and 4GB RAM with 64GB internal storage. Currently, it’s not confirmed if the company will bring the 6GB RAM model in India. The smartphone will be offered in three color options — Black, Blue, and Red.

On the other hand, the Redmi Go smartphone, which will be the company’s first Android Go-powered device, will reportedly come with 1GB RAM and 8GB internal storage. It will be available in Black, Blue, and Red color options.

The Redmi Note 7 smartphone was first launched in China last month, which comes with a premium glass body and a massive screen-to-body ratio thanks to the waterdrop notch display. The phone features a 6.3-inch Full HD+ display with 2340 x 1080 pixels screen resolution and 19.5:9 aspect ratio. The display carries support for 450-nits brightness, 1,500:1 contrast ratio, sun legibility, and eye protection mode.

Under the hood, the device is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 octa-core chipset with 3GB/4GB/6GB RAM and 32GB/64GB internal storage. It also comes with a dedicated microSD card slot allowing users to expand the storage capacity.

The device comes with an f/1.8 aperture 48-megapixel primary sensor and a 5-megapixel secondary camera with artificial intelligence technology. On the front side, there’s a 13-megapixel camera housed in the display notch.

With an 18W fast charger, which needs to be purchased separately, the phone can be fully charged in just 1 hour and 43 minutes.

Coming to the Redmi Go smartphone, it features a 5-inch display with 1280 x 720 pixels screen resolution. Under the hood, the device is powered by a 1.4GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 chipset. Like other Android Go phones, this one too packs 1GB RAM and 8GB of internal storage but it also comes with a microSD card slot for expanding the storage capacity.

The phone’s connectivity options include dual SIM support, a 3.5mm audio jack, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth, and a MicroUSB port. It has an 8-megapixel rear camera with an LED flash and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. The device runs Android Oreo (Go Edition) and packs a 3,000mAh battery.

Recent reports have revealed Xiaomi India is planning to launch the Redmi Note 7 smartphone in India in February. Leaked information shared by an Indian publication reveals that the Redmi Note 7 will be announced in India on Feb. 12. The publication has also shared a leaked launch date poster.

The launch poster reveals that a Redmi smartphone will be announced in New Delhi, India on Feb. 12. The poster does not directly reveal the name of the device that will be unveiled in the coming month. However, the image of a notched phone suggests that the Redmi Note 7 that features a notched screen will be announced on the said date.

The Redmi Note 7 has already launched in China earlier this month. It is the first glass-bodied Redmi phone that comes with a 6.3-inch display that produces full HD+ resolution. The notched screen offers a tall aspect ratio of 19.5:9.

The Snapdragon 660 chipset is present under the hood of the device. It comes with up to 6 GB of RAM and up to 64 GB of native storage. For additional storage, it is equipped with a microSD card slot. The MIUI 10 UI based Android 9 Pie comes preinstalled on the device.

The front notch is the home for the 13-megapixel selfie snapper. The rear side of the phone features a dual camera setup that includes a 48-megapixel Samsung ISOCELL GM1 sensor and a 5-megapixel secondary sensor. A couple of days back, Xiaomi went official with its first Android Go smartphone christened Redmi Go. The phone looks very much like the top-selling and cool Redmi 4A model which was one of the company’s highest -grossing smartphone till date. That of the Philippines may just be around the corner as the model is now on pre-order in the Asian country via popular online retailer Lazada. It adopts a slightly cheaper price tag of ₱3,990.00 (around $75) and is expected to start shipping on February 5. The offer also includes a free Mi headset for the first 200 preorders.

Xiaomi took the wraps off its first Android Go smartphone today which it named Redmi Go. The phone is expected to be available in Europe and also launch in other markets.

The Redmi Go has a 5-inch 1280 x 720 display and is powered by a 1.4GHz quad-core Snapdragon processor said to be the Snapdragon 425. Like other Android Go phones, it has 1GB of RAM and 8GB of storage. There are reports of a version with 16GB of storage but we haven’t seen evidence of that yet. Nevertheless, a MicroSD card slot will let you add extra storage.

The phone has an 8MP rear camera with an LED flash and a 5MP front-facing camera. It runs Android Oreo (Go Edition) and packs a 3,000mAh battery. Other specs not mentioned in the official announcement include dual SIM support, a 3.5mm audio jack, and a MicroUSB port for charging and data transfer.

Xiaomi finally joined the Android Go club by announcing the Redmi Go for the global market. It is the most affordable last-generation phone by the Chinese company, but it is not its only device sold for less than €100. There is another super cheap Xiaomi device that people can opt for: the Redmi 6A. After the launch of the Redmi Go, a lot of potential buyers are wondering which one is worth buying, given that they share a similar price. Here, we will try to let you find out with in-depth specs comparison between the two compact and affordable handsets.

Xiaomi Redmi Go vs Xiaomi Redmi 6A

Design

Even though it is a more recent device, Xiaomi Redmi Go has a more outdated design than Xiaomi Redmi 6A. The latter comes with a taller display as well as thinner bezels, so a definitely better look on the front side. Regarding the rear sides, all depends on your tastes. Xiaomi Redmi 6A has a body that looks like metal (but it is plastic) while Xiaomi Redmi Go has a cleaner backside but it is evident that it is made of polycarbonate. They have more or less the same level of detail and similar color reproduction (just sufficient). The big difference is the size: Xiaomi Redmi 6A has a bigger and taller display, while Xiaomi Redmi Go has a smaller panel with the classic 16:9 aspect ratio. If you often use your device with one hand, then Xiaomi Redmi Go may be ideal for you, but if you want a better display for multimedia and advanced activities, then go for the Xiaomi Redmi 6A. But again, even under this point of view, differences are marginal.

Specs & Software

Xiaomi Redmi 6A has a much better hardware department than Xiaomi Redmi Go. It comes with one of the most performing quad-core chipsets, up to 3 GB of RAM and up to 32 GB of internal storage. Xiaomi Redmi Go  comes with only 1 GB of RAM. However, while Xiaomi Redmi 6A has the classic MIUI, Xiaomi Redmi Go runs Android Go, so it can deliver a similar performance in daily use. Android Go is an enlightened version of the operating system which takes less space and runs smoothly even on devices with 512 MB of RAM. So the fact that Redmi Go has just 1 GB of RAM is not a big issue. By the way, if you want to play games, then you should still go for the Xiaomi Redmi 6A.

Camera

While both Xiaomi Redmi Go and Redmi 6A have the same, sufficient front camera for selfies, what changes in the camera setup is the rear sensor. The Redmi Go has a more disappointing 8 MP sensor which cannot even record videos in 1080p, while Xiaomi Redmi 6A has a more acceptable 13 MP rear camera. Xiaomi Redmi 6A is everything but a camera phone, but its shots are not so bad when light conditions are good. So, it wins the camera comparison, even though Redmi Go has a brighter f/2.0 which is more useful with low light.

Battery

You cannot understand which device will last more from the battery capacity as both Xiaomi Redmi Go and Redmi 6A boast a 3000 mAh battery. Basing on the specs on the paper, Redmi Go should last more because it has Android Go installed, a very efficient SoC and a smaller display to manage. But in order to give a definitive verdict, we will have to test Redmi Go’s battery life and now we still cannot do it as the phone is not on sale.

Price

People wonder which device is the best to buy because, as we said at the beginning of this article, their prices are very similar. While Redmi Go costs €80/$91 in the global market, Xiaomi Redmi 6A is available for about €90/$103 in the Chinese market. Despite the presence of Android Go on the Redmi Go, I would personally spend a bit more and go for the Xiaomi Redmi 6A because it has a better camera, more RAM and more internal storage than Redmi Go.

The Redmi Go is Xiaomi‘s first Android Go smartphone which is expected to launch very soon. Last week, specs and an official render surfaced online. Xiaomi Philippines also teased the device’s arrival. More details have surfaced about the phone and its availability outside Asia.

A post from Winfuture.de has revealed that the Redmi Go will be available “right from the very beginning” in Europe which is around February. This means there wouldn’t be a gap between its launch in Asia and in Europe.

The post also says the Redmi Go sold in Europe will have support for LTE band 20. This isn’t new info as the official spec sheet already revealed the supported LTE bands and the above band was listed among.

With respect to price, the Redmi Go will have its price tag under €80 (~$90/¥616). That is significantly lesser than the Nokia 2.1 which is currently priced between €110 and €120. However, the Nokia 2.1 packs a larger screen, bigger battery capacity, and stereo front-facing speakers.

The Redmi Go will pack a 5-inch HD display, Qualcomm’s 28nm Snapdragon 425 processor, 1GB of RAM and 8GB of expandable storage. It will have an 8MP rear camera, a 5MP front-facing camera, and a 3,000mAh battery. Pre-installed on the phone is Android 8.1 Oreo (Go Edition).

Winfuture have also provided more renders of the phone (above) which will come in Black and Blue. It will have an audio jack at the top while a MicroUSB port and speaker grille are at the bottom. The Redmi Go will have two slots on the left – one for the dual SIMs and another for the MicroSD card. The images also show the phone will come with Xiaomi’s lightweight browser, Mint Browser, along with Google Chrome.

If you have been waiting for Xiaomi’s own Android Go phone, then you are in luck as it seems a launch is happening very soon. The phone already got certified in a number of markets and now it appears it is ready to launch with The Philippines being the first market to get it.

The official Facebook account for Xiaomi Philippines shared a post a few hours ago teasing the launch of a new phone. The post also has the hashtag #GoSmartDoMore.

Philippino blog Revu.com.ph got a tip that the phone is already listed on online store Lazada and the listing includes a poster with the full specs of the Redmi Go. The poster also has the tag line Go Smart, Do More which means it is the same device teased by Xiaomi on Facebook.

The Redmi Go can be said to be a redesigned Redmi 4A/Redmi 5A with a few changes and of course less RAM and storage. We are glad it doesn’t have the rear-facing speaker of both phones.

It has a 5.0-inch 1280 x 720 display with a 16:9 aspect ratio and 380 nits of brightness. There is a Snapdragon 425 processor under the hood and it is paired with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of storage. A dedicated MicroSD card slot will allow you to add up to 128GB of extra storage.

The Redmi Go has an 8MP f/2.0 camera with HDR and an LED flash on its back. The camera is positioned at the top left corner of the phone. It also has a 5MP f/2.2 front-facing camera.

There is Bluetooth 4.1, single band Wi-Fi, a MicroUSB port, and dual-SIM support. It also has support for 4G LTE bands 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 20, and 28. Availability of these bands including dual VoLTE and dual 4G will vary between markets.

The Redmi Go packs a 3,000mAh battery and will come with a 5V/1A charger in the box. Unfortunately, it runs Android 8.1 Oreo (Go Edition) and not the latest Android 9 Pie (Go Edition). It will be available in black and blue when it launches.

There is no info on price yet. The one on Lazada is just a placeholder until the phone launches.

Redmi recently launched the Redmi Note 7 budget smartphone — the company’s first device after it split from its parent company Xiaomi to work independently. The company is reportedly planning to launch two other smartphones — Redmi Note 7 Pro and Redmi Go.

The Redmi Go is expected to be the company’s first Android Go-powered smartphone. A Redmi smartphone with mode number M1903C3GG has received NBTC certification in Thailand, which confirms that the smartphone will indeed carry the Redmi Go moniker. This also indicates that the phone’s launch is not far away.

However, apart from the smartphone’s marketing name, the NBTC certification does not reveal anything related to the upcoming smartphone. The Android Go Edition smartphone had previously been certified by the EEC, IMDA, SIRIM certification agencies in Malaysia, and was also spotted on the FCC website last month.

According to the previous leaks, the smartphone could come with a 5.9-inch HD+ display with 18:9 aspect ratio. It could pack just 1GB RAM and 16GB internal storage with microSD card support. In the camera department, it is said to feature a single camera on the back and a 5MP front-facing snapper.

It will be running Android 9 Pie Go Edition out-of-the-box. For the uninitiated, the Android Go Edition is optimized specifically for entry-level smartphones with limited memory and storage space. Within the next two months, Xiaomi will be launching the Mi MIX 3 5G flagship phone and Redmi Note 7 Pro phones in China. Another rumored phone from the company is Redmi Go Android Go smartphone. Previous reports haven’t revealed any details on Redmi Go phone. Today, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China (CMIIT) has approved three Xiaomi models such as M1903F2A, M1092F1A and M1092F1T. It is speculated that these could be Redmi Go and Xiaomi Mi MIX 3 5G or Redmi Note 7 Pro.

The M190F1A and M1902F1T are variants of a single phone which could either be the Redmi Note 7 Pro or Mi MIX 3 5G or any other upcoming Xiaomi phone. The M1903F2A could be the Redmi Go smartphone because a similar model number of M1903CGCX was certified by IMDA authority of Singapore in December last year.

The above speculations are just calculated guess based on the rumored phones that Xiaomi may debut in the near future. The M1902XXX models could end up as Xiaomi Mi 9 models. Hence, it is advisable to digest the report with a grain of salt and wait for newer reports to confirm on the identities of M1903F2A, M1902F1A and M1902F1T.

The Redmi Note 7 that was unveiled in the previous week featured a waterdrop notch, Snapdragon 660 chipset, 48-megapixel Samsung ISOCELL GM1 + 5-megapixel dual camera and 4,000mAh battery. Redmi has already confirmed that the Redmi Note 7 Pro will be swapping the Samsung GM1 sensor with 48-megapixel Sony IMX586 sensor. Rumors are rife that the Redmi Note 7 Pro would be fueled by the more powerful Snapdragon 675 chipset.

Xiaomi will be holding a media event on Feb. 24, just a day ahead of Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2019. Rumors are rife that the Snapdragon 855 chipset powered Mi MIX 3 5G phone will be officially announced at the Feb. 24 press event.

Android Go is a light version of Android that has been designed to work on devices with 1GB or less of RAM. The operating system has specially designed apps that consume less data and resources. A number of manufacturers such as Samsung, Huawei, ASUS, and Alcatel have all released Android Go phones and a new report may mean Xiaomi is joining the list soon.

A Xiaomi phone with the model number M1903C3GG was seen on Singapore’s Info-communications Media Development Authority (IMDA). The same device was seen at the FCC and the EEC but it’s Singapore’s agency that reveals the phone’s marketing name is Redmi Go.

The name Redmi Go has led to assumptions that this will be Xiaomi’s first Android Go phone. The dimensions of the device revealed by the FCC hints at the Redmi Go having a 5.9-inch screen. Since it is a budget device, we expect the resolution to be at most 1440 x 720 (HD+). It is also said to have dual-SIM support, 2.4GHz Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.2. It is also expected to run Android Pie (Go Edition), have 1GB of RAM and a single camera on each side. With respect to the processor, we may see Xiaomi adopt a MediaTek or Qualcomm entry-level chipset.

The Redmi Go may be an Android Go phone but it may not run stock Android like other Android Go phones. Samsung’s Android Go phone, the Galaxy J4 Core has Samsung’s Experience UI on top, so Xiaomi may also decide to put MIUI on top. This is just speculation but it will be interesting to see if Xiaomi can pull off a low-resource version of MIUI.

The Redmi Go is bound to be cheap with a price tag less than $100. Xiaomi already has phones that run regular Android with better specs than those listed above that sell for under $100, so we expect the Redmi Go to even sell for less.
