Last year, Redmi unveiled the Redmi K Pad as a performance-focused compact tablet. Today, the brand held a launch event in China to unveil multiple devices, including the Redmi K90 Max and the Redmi K Pad 2. Like the previous model, the new tablet keeps a compact form factor, but it arrives with notable upgrades across performance, display, and battery.

Redmi K Pad 2 specifications and features

The Redmi K Pad 2 features an 8.8-inch 3K LCD display with a resolution of 3008 x 1880 pixels and a 165Hz refresh rate. The panel supports Dolby Vision, HDR, and offers up to 1100 nits brightness in high brightness mode, along with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection. Its 16:10 aspect ratio and high pixel density aim to deliver a sharp and smooth viewing experience, especially for gaming and media consumption.

Powering the tablet is the MediaTek Dimensity 9500 chipset, built on an advanced process and paired with LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.1 storage. It also includes a Mali-G1 Ultra GPU and MediaTek NPU 990 for AI-related tasks. The device runs on Android 16 with HyperOS 3.0, focusing on better optimisation and cross-device connectivity. Redmi has also included dual X-axis linear motors and dual stereo speakers tuned for immersive audio output.

In terms of optics, the Redmi K Pad 2 carries a 13-megapixel rear camera and an 8-megapixel front-facing sensor for video calls and basic photography. The tablet houses a large 9100mAh battery with support for 67W fast charging and 22.5W reverse charging.

The K Pad 2 also features dual USB-C ports, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, and a side-mounted fingerprint scanner. The tablet has a slim profile of 6.62mm and weighs 345 grams.

Redmi K Pad 2 price and availability

The Redmi K Pad 2 has arrived in China with a starting price of 3,399 Yuan (~$440) for the 8GB+256GB variant. Its 12GB+256GB and 16GB+512GB version are priced at 3,799 Yuan (~$560) and 4,799 Yuan (~$710), respectively. The tablet comes in colour options such as Space Silver, Electric Purple, and Deep Black.

The previous Redmi K Pad remained exclusive to China, but it was introduced globally as the Xiaomi Pad Mini. A similar strategy could be followed this time, with expectations that the Redmi K Pad 2 may arrive in international markets as the Xiaomi Pad Mini 2.

The Redmi K Pad 2 is one of the products Xiaomi will unveil at its launch event on April 21. While the company has already teased the tablet’s design and some key features, a new leak from tipster Digital Chat Station fills in more of the technical details.

Redmi K Pad 2 Specifications

The tipster confirms that the Redmi K Pad 2 is built around an 8.8-inch LCD display with a 3K resolution and a 165Hz refresh rate. It also retains the 16:10 aspect ratio of its predecessor.

Powering the tablet is MediaTek’s Dimensity 9500 chipset, which should bring a noticeable boost in performance over the previous generation. To manage heat, Redmi is reportedly including a large 15,300mm² vapor chamber cooling system.

The K Pad 2 is said to pack a 9,100mAh battery paired with 67W fast charging. Audio and haptics include dual symmetrical speakers tuned by Bose, along with dual X-axis motors designed to improve vibration feedback.

Design-wise, Xiaomi has already confirmed a metal unibody build, with color options including Deep Black, Spotlight Purple, and Space Silver. It all looks fairly minimal. There’s also a fingerprint sensor built into the power button, for biometrics.

The 8.8-inch panel is also confirmed to have 1100 nits of peak brightness.  And on the gaming side, Redmi is claiming support for 165fps gameplay in select titles, along with a 540Hz touch sampling rate. 

The tablet is also using a centered chip layout, which is meant to help with heat distribution during longer sessions. 

As for pricing, Redmi hasn’t confirmed anything yet. However, given the specs, you can expect the tablet to sit in a premium range.

Apart from the K Pad 2, Redmi will unveil the Redmi K90 Max smartphone and Redmi Buds 8.

REDMI has started teasing a new tablet, the K Pad 2, and it’s clearly going after performance-focused users. The company is calling it a “performance flagship,” which sounds like typical marketing, but some of the early details suggest it’s at least trying to stand out a bit, especially on the gaming side.

At the center of it is the Dimensity 9500, paired with a 15300mm² vapor chamber cooling system. REDMI is also using a centered chip layout, which is meant to help with heat distribution during longer sessions. In theory, that should mean more stable performance without throttling too quickly.

The display is another key part. It’s an 8.8-inch panel with a 165Hz refresh rate and 1100 nits of peak brightness. REDMI says it’s tuned specifically for gaming, though we’ll have to see how much of that actually makes a difference in real use. Battery capacity sits at 9100mAh, which should be enough for extended use, especially given the size of the device.

The tablet itself sticks to a fairly premium look, with a metal unibody and a few color options, including purple, silver, and black. Nothing too surprising, but it looks clean.

On the gaming side, REDMI is claiming support for 165fps gameplay in select titles, along with a 540Hz touch sampling rate. There’s also a high-frequency gyroscope, which should help with responsiveness in fast-paced games.

For audio, the tablet includes dual full-range drivers housed in a 2.0cc “super-large” sound cavity, designed to deliver fuller bass, clearer treble, and richer detail. It’s marketed as the first tablet tuned by Sound by Bose.

The K Pad 2 is set to launch on April 21, 2026, alongside the Redmi K90 Max and the Redmi Book Pro 2026.

According to a tipster, the upcoming Redmi notebooks will be powered by the Intel Core Ultra X7 358H CPU, paired with 32GB of RAM and 1TB of storage. They will be available in 14-inch and 16-inch screen size options.

While the official monikers are not known yet, these could be dubbed the Redmi Book Pro 14 (2026) and Book Pro 16 (2026). These devices are expected to succeed the 2025 Redmi Book Pro 14 and Book Pro 16, which were powered by Intel Ultra 5 225 / 7 225H processors.

As can be seen, well-known tipster Digital Chat Station can be seen talking about an upcoming high-performance tablet. While he has not specified the name of the device, it is largely believed that he could be talking about the Redmi K Pad 2.

The leak suggests that the Redmi K Pad 2 may feature a custom-made 8.8-inch LCD panel offering a 165Hz refresh rate and a 3K resolution. To recall, the Redmi K Pad also featured the same-sized screen with the same resolution and refresh rate.

The leak further states that the Redmi K Pad 2 will feature a flagship-level processor, dual X-axis motors for enhanced haptics, and improved symmetrical dual speakers with co-tuned audio.
