Xiaomi has updated the Redmi K Pad tablet lineup with a new “Flowing Gold White” color option. The new variant starts at 2,999 yuan ($420) for the 12GB + 256GB model after a 100-yuan ($14) first-sale discount. Xiaomi also offers a 16GB + 512GB version at a launch price of 3,499 yuan ($490).

This new finish joins the previously released Deep Black, Misty Purple, and Spruce Green color options. The tablet maintains its 8.8-inch LCD screen with a resolution of 3008×1880, a variable 165Hz refresh rate, and peak brightness of up to 700 nits in high-brightness mode. The display supports HDR10, HDR Vivid, Dolby Vision, and comes with Gorilla Glass 5 protection.

It’s new Redmi K Pad enters the scene as the brand’s first proper flagship tablet. And while that phrase may sound a bit overplayed, this device does introduce a few notable choices that set it apart from the rest of the mid-size tablet pack.

So, what exactly makes the K Pad stand out in an already crowded space? Here are five key aspects that make it worth talking about, if not exactly exciting.

It’s the only small tablet with dual USB-C ports that make sense

Redmi is calling the K Pad its most ambitious tablet to date, and the dual USB-C ports are probably the best example of that effort. While other brands might reserve a second port for data or expansion, the K Pad treats both ports as fully functional USB 3.2 Gen1 connectors. That means 10Gbps data speeds, and more importantly, real flexibility when using it in gaming or productivity setups.

In landscape orientation, you can charge without your cable getting in the way of your grip. In portrait mode, you can now plug in your accessories like external SSDs, DACs, cooling clips, or controllers, without blocking airflow or your hands.

Even if this isn’t a device you’ll use for long working hours, having a screen that doesn’t fatigue your eyes as quickly is more than just a nice-to-have.

Cooling is overkill, and that’s a good thing

Inside, the Redmi K Pad runs on the Dimensity 9400+, a flagship MediaTek chip that prioritizes GPU-driven performance. While it’s not the only tablet with a strong SoC in this class, the way Redmi handles thermals is what makes the difference. 

The company has implemented a central SoC stacking architecture, aligning the chip with the device’s thermal center to dissipate heat evenly. That’s paired with a 12,050mm² aluminum alloy vapor chamber, and what Redmi calls Rage Engine 4.0, a system-level graphics rendering optimization that helps with frame stability. 

Redmi also claims the system can hit native 3K resolution in open-world games. So the thermal architecture does allow for longer sustained gameplay without the kind of throttling typical in other thin tablets.

This setup is further supported by a three-antenna Wi-Fi architecture, which adds an extra 5G channel for more stable connectivity in landscape mode. It’s all over-engineered in ways that mobile gamers might appreciate, especially those looking for alternatives to pricier gaming tablets.

It’s trying (hard) to bridge the gap between entertainment and productivity

You could argue that all tablets try to do this, but Redmi is throwing in a few extra tricks. On the productivity side, the K Pad supports PC-level apps like CAJ, CAD, and WPS, and has baked in a range of tools like workbench mode, remote desktop access, and a meeting toolbox. It also supports super documents — Xiaomi’s catch-all term for multi-format editing and annotation — and can essentially mimic a light desktop OS under the right conditions.

Surprisingly, it also plays relatively well with Apple’s ecosystem. The K Pad supports file transfer, photo sync, and extended display functionality when used with a Mac, which is a rare show of interoperability from a Chinese Android tablet. 

While not seamless in the way Apple’s own Continuity system works, it does give you an option to better interact with the Apple ecosystem.

Redmi K Pad, a compact gaming tablet, went official yesterday in China alongside a slew of other devices, such as the Redmi K80 Ultra, Xiaomi Pad 7S Pro, and Xiaomi Mix Flip 2. There is no certainty whether the K80 Ultra and Pad 7S Pro will hit global markets. The Mix Flip 2 is expected to launch globally, but it has not appeared on certification platforms outside of China.

Redmi K Pad receives TDRA, IMDA certifications

As seen in the screenshots shared by XpertPick, the global version of the Redmi K Pad (model number 25079RPDCG) has been approved by the UAE’s TDRA and Singapore’s IMDA certification bodies.

Unfortunately, none of these listings has revealed the final marketing name of the device. So, it remains a mystery whether the device will be called the Redmi K Pad or something else in markets outside of China. The “2507” number hints that the device may launch globally in the coming month (July).

The publication has also revealed that upcoming Xiaomi tablets with model numbers 25097RP43G, 25091RP04G, and 25099RP08G received approval from Europe’s EEC authority. Among these, the 25099RP08G tablet will be a Poco-branded offering. While their official monikers are not known yet, they are likely to break cover in September this year.

Xiaomi has introduced its first compact tablet under the Redmi brand, the Redmi K Pad, featuring an 8.8-inch display and a premium, portable design. Aimed at gamers, students, and productivity-focused users, the tablet was unveiled during the company’s Smart Ecosystem event in China, launching alongside the Mix Flip 2 and Redmi K80 Ultra.

Redmi K Pad Specifications

The Redmi K Pad features an 8.8-inch LCD panel with a 3008×1880 resolution and a 16:10 aspect ratio. The custom 3K screen supports a variable 165Hz refresh rate and a 372Hz touch sampling rate, delivering smooth visual performance for gaming and multimedia.

The panel reaches 700 nits peak brightness and includes DC dimming, HDR10, HDR Vivid, and Dolby Vision support. Xiaomi uses Real RGB pixel arrangement and Corning Gorilla Glass 5 for protection, while TÜV Rheinland triple certifications and S++ eye-care grading ensure reduced flicker and blue light emissions.

The Redmi K Pad is powered by MediaTek’s 3nm Dimensity 9400+ chipset, featuring an octa-core CPU with peak speeds of up to 3.73GHz and an Immortalis-G925 MC12 GPU. It also includes Xiaomi’s Rage Engine 4.0, which fine-tunes system-level performance and efficiency.

Huawei Pura 80 Series

Vivo T4 Ultra

Vivo positioned the T4 Ultra as a feature-rich midranger that flirts with flagship territory. The Xiaomi Pad 7S Pro will be equipped with the company’s in-house Xring O1 chipset. It will also feature a 12.5-inch LCD 3.2K 144Hz screen and a 10,160mAh battery with 120W charging. The Mix Flip 2, which is the company’s only foldable phone this year, will feature the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset.

The upcoming REDMI K Pad is already turning heads in China’s competitive tablet market, even before its official launch in June 2025. In early performance tests, the device goes toe-to-toe with two well-known gaming tablets—the Lenovo Legion Y700 (4th Gen) aka Legion Y700 (2025) and the RedMagic Gaming Tablet 3 Pro—and manages to hold its own, especially when it comes to efficiency and thermal control.

According to gameplay test results shared by Novice Evaluation on Weibo, all three tablets are equipped with top-tier chipsets: the REDMI K Pad runs on the MediaTek Dimensity 9400+, while the other two use Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite. When tested on Honor of Kings, all three devices performed nearly identically—RedMagic scored a perfect 120 FPS, while both the Legion Y700 and REDMI K Pad hit 119.9 FPS. However, there were significant differences in power consumption and temperature.

The Legion Y700 drew the most power at 9.8W, followed by the RedMagic at 6.2W. The REDMI K Pad, however, was the most efficient, consuming just 5.7W. It also ran the coolest, with surface temperatures around 42.8°C, compared to 45.3°C on the RedMagic and 45°C on the Legion.

A similar pattern appeared in Genshin Impact tests. All three tablets again managed 119.9 FPS, but the Legion used 8.5W of power, RedMagic 7.5W, and the REDMI K Pad just 6.9W. Thermal readings stayed in line too: 42.9°C for the Legion, 45.2°C for the RedMagic, and 43°C for the REDMI.

The Dimensity 9400+ chip in the REDMI K Pad is largely responsible for its impressive power efficiency. While the Legion Y700 offers an 8.8-inch LCD (900 nits HBM) and the RedMagic tablet features a 9-inch OLED (1600 nits HBM) display, both draw more power and heat than the K Pad, which sports an 8.8-inch 3K+ 165Hz LCD and a 7,500mAh battery. With its launch just around the corner, it’s shaping up to be a serious rival in a growing niche.

Redmi will announce its first gaming-focused tablet, the Redmi K Pad later this month in China. Confirmed to debut alongside the Redmi K80 Ultra, the tablet will pack high-end specs inside a compact body. Ahead of the launch, tipster Bald Panda has revealed the key specifications of the device.

The Redmi K Pad is said to feature an 8.8-inch IPS LCD screen delivering a 3K resolution of 2,880 x 1,800 pixels. It will offer a 165Hz refresh rate and a 16:10 aspect ratio, making it ideal for immersive gaming and multimedia experiences. Measuring just 6.4mm in thickness and weighing 326 grams, it promises to be a sleek yet powerful tablet.

At its core, the device will run on MediaTek’s latest Dimensity 9400+ chipset. The battery capacity stands at 7,500mAh, paired with 67W fast charging support. The tablet will come in three shades such as purple, green, and black.

The tablet was recently spotted on Geekbench with 16GB of RAM and Android 15, which is likely to have the HyperOS 2.0 skin on top.

Another source, Experience More, has revealed that the Redmi K Pad tablet could also include dual speakers, dual USB-C ports (3.0), and dual X-axis linear motors to deliver an immersive gaming experience. It is also expected to support bypass charging, which helps reduce heat during gameplay sessions.

The Redmi K Pad will arrive in multiple configurations, such as 8GB+256GB, 12GB+256GB, 12GB+512GB, 16GB+512GB, and 16GB+1TB. It will be available in Smoky Purple, Spruce Green, and Deep Black options, with an expected price tag of around 4,000 Yuan (~$560).

The Redmi K Pad is set to rival other compact tablets like the Lenovo Legion Y700 (Gen 4) and Red Magic Gaming Tablet 3 Pro. All three products are being dubbed as a worthy alternative to the iPad Mini 7 by each of these brands.

The Chinese tech giant’s upcoming tablet was just teased with the Redmi K Pad, with an 8.8-inch LCD display. This panel has a 3K resolution, a 16:10 aspect ratio, and a 165Hz refresh rate. While this isn’t particularly compact, a typical tablet usually has a larger screen. But recently, there has been a rise in tablets with display panels that are around 8 inches tall. Now, Xiaomi is the latest brand to offer such a model. The Redmi K Pad sports an 8.8-inch display on the front with noticeable bezel surrounding the screen.

Meanwhile, the rear has a single rear camera with an LED flash module. The previous teasers showcased the new tablet in a light green color option, while the latest teaser showcases this device in a light purple variant. A previous GeekBench listing showcases high end hardware, which is what makes this tablet a compact powerhouse. Under the hood, it is equipped with the MediaTek Dimensity 9400+ SoC, which is paired with 16GB of RAM. This model will also run on the Android 15 OS out of the box.

Thanks to the 3C and CMIIT certification, we also know that the Redmi K Pad will support 67W wired fast charging. An official launch date is still unclear, but a live broadcast set to be held on June 18 might reveal more details regarding the Redmi K Pad and the upcoming Redmi K80 Ultra.

Redmi has officially confirmed that the Redmi K80 Ultra and Redmi K Pad will launch in China later this month. While an exact date hasn’t been disclosed, both devices have already surfaced on the Geekbench database, revealing several key specifications.

The Redmi K Pad, listed under the model number 25079RPDCC, is powered by the same processor as the K80 Ultra, featuring a three-cluster CPU setup: four cores at 2.4GHz, three at 3.3GHz, and one at 3.73GHz. It comes with 16GB of RAM and runs Android 15 out of the box. Source code from the benchmark listing confirms the presence of the Mali-G925 Immortalis MC12 GPU, which, along with the CPU specs, points to the MediaTek Dimensity 9400+ SoC powering both devices.

The K Pad also appeared on China’s 3C and CMIIT certification databases, confirming support for 67W wired fast charging. Additional details shared by tipster Digital Chat Station include an 8.8-inch LCD display with a 3K resolution, a 165Hz customizable refresh rate, and a 16:10 aspect ratio, suggesting a strong focus on media and gaming performance.

The Redmi K80 Ultra’s Geekbench listing has revealed that it will also be equipped with the high-end Dimensity 9400+ chipset. It is also expected to feature a 7,400mAh battery paired with 120W fast charging support, positioning it as a performance-heavy flagship contender in its segment.
