Design

The design I love the most belongs to the Realme X50 Pro 5G. Just like the top-tier flagships, it is made with premium materials including a glass back and an aluminum frame. It has a non-invasive camera module and a punch-hole display with narrow bezels and a high screen-to-body ratio. But the Redmi K30S is at the same level, with a glass sandwich and its aluminum frame, as well as a high screen-to-body ratio. I would go for the Realme X50 Pro just because it is thinner, lighter, and more compact.

Display

If you need the most impressive display, just discard the Redmi K30S. Instead, you should definitely go for the Realme X7 Pro. It features an AMOLED panel with a 120 Hz refresh rate, and it is one of the most affordable phones with this kind of display. Unfortunately, Redmi K30S lacks an OLED panel, but it has a high 144 Hz refresh rate. Realme X50 Pro remains a device with a great panel: it sports an AMOLED display with a 90 Hz refresh rate and HDR10+ certification. Realme X7 Pro and Realme X50 Pro feature an in-display fingerprint reader, while Redmi K30S has a side-mounted biometric sensor.

Hardware/Software

Realme X50 Pro 5G has the best hardware department as it is fueled by the Snapdragon 865 mobile platform paired with up to 12 GB of RAM and UFS 3.0 native storage. Redmi K30S is powered by the Snapdragon 865 as well, but it packs just 8 GB of RAM. The RAM is paired with fast UFS 3.1 internal storage. Realme X7 Pro is powered by the Dimensity 1000+ chipset which is slightly inferior to the Snapdragon 865 (let’s say it is between the Snapdragon 855+ and the Snapdragon 865). Redmi K30S runs MIUI 12 out of the box, while Realme X7 Pro and X50 Pro 5G run Realme UI.

Camera

With the Realme X50 Pro, you can get the best camera experience. It features a 64 MP quad camera on the rear side including a 12 MP telephoto sensor, an 8 MP ultrawide camera, and a 2 MP depth sensor. Further, it sports a dual ultrawide front camera with 32 and 8 MP resolutions. The rear camera setup of the Redmi K30S is slightly more interesting than the Realme X7 Pro, but the X7 Pro has a better front camera.

Battery

With its huge 5000 mAh, Redmi K30S is the battery champion. But the 4500 mAh battery of the Realme X7 Pro is still great and it features 65W fast charging. The Realme X50 Pro 5G loses as its battery is even smaller.

Price

The Realme X50 Pro price is set at $516/€431, Realme X7 Pro starts at $380/€318, and Redmi K30S costs about $275/€330. Realme X50 Pro is the best device in this comparison, but it is more expensive. If you want to save money while still getting an OLED display and great performance, go for the Realme X7 Pro which also offers very fast charging. Otherwise, if you want a bigger battery and the Snapdragon 865, choose the Redmi K30S.

After the Double 11, the Redmi K30S is selling with original price tags such as 2,599 Yuan (~$395) for 8 GB RAM + 128 GB storage variant and 2,799 Yuan (~$425) for 8 GB RAM + 256 GB storage model. At 10 AM this morning, the Redmi K30S was made available for purchase with the increased price tags. Still, it was sold quickly. Such is the demand for the Redmi K30S.

Xiaomi’s approach has altered a bit in 2020. It skipped the Redmi Note 9 series in China, and now, the Redmi K30S is strongly hinted at as a rebadged version of Mi 10T from Europe. If we recall, Xiaomi launched the Mi 10T series in Europe last month. Later, it brought the series to India as well. Now, the company’s launch tomorrow in China will be at 2 PM local time. To affirm the hints, the company has already teased the device with a couple of pictures, and it is indeed looking like the Mi 10T.

Redmi K30S Design

First off, Xiaomi is calling it the Redmi K30S Extreme Commemorative Edition in China. The device will have a side-mounted fingerprint sensor embedded in the power button. Above that, there are volume buttons. At the bottom, we have speakers, a USB-C port, and a SIM card slot. The front has a display with a single punch-hole to the left whereas the rear has a rounded rectangle layout for cameras.

Considering its a rebadge of Mi 10T, we can expect the display and rear panel to sport Corning’s Gorilla Glass 5 protection. As for the color variants, teasers so far point to the same Cosmic Black and Lunar Silver options for China.

EDITOR’S PICK: Xiaomi Fast LCD Monitor with 24.5-inch 144Hz display launched in China

Redmi K30S Specifications(Expected)

So, the Redmi K30S Extreme Commemorative Edition will probably feature a 6.67-inch FHD+ LCD 144Hz display. Now, a Xiaomi executive had already explained why the company had to opt for LCD on the Mi 10T. To affirm it, Redmi’s Product Director Wang Teng has replied to one of the users on Weibo citing that LCD on K30S will be of top quality.

If Xiaomi were to retain the same panel from Mi 10T, it will have ΔE=0.63 and JNCD (Just Noticeable Color Difference)=0.39. Additionally, it could also have features like Adaptive Sync, MEMC, Sunlight Mode 3.0, Reading Mode 3.0, and 4096 levels of brightness adjustments. Under the hood, a recent leak on TENAA hints at Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 SoC, and Xiaomi has confirmed it already. Also, the SoC will be paired with LPDDR5 RAM, UFS 3.1 storage but variants are China is not known yet. However, we can expect at least 6GB/8GB RAM and 128GB storage.

As for the optics, the teasers on Weibo already show a 64MP sensor on the renders which is the same as Mi 10T. Hence, the device is likely to host Sony’s IMX682 64MP main lens, a 13MP ultra-wide, and a 5MP macro lens. Upfront, it will probably host a 20MP selfie shooter like the Mi 10T. We can expect other features like NFC, Bluetooth 5.1, Wi-Fi 6, Stereo speakers, 3D audio recording, IR blaster, SA/NSA 5G, 5,000mAh battery with 33W charging via USB-C, and more.

Price, Availability

In both Europe and India, the Mi 10T is already starting at €499, and ₹35,999 respectively. However, a hint by Wang Teng suggests the Redmi K30S Extreme Commemorative Edition could start at 2,598 yuan($388) in China. This will make it the Cheapest Snapdragon 865 SoC device yet, if that happens.

For Availability, Xiaomi is already hinting at 11.11 which is a famous Double Eleven sales day in China. It is nothing but Nov. 11 Singles’ Day shopping festival in the country. Hence, we can expect it to go on sale that day but let’s wait for the official word during the launch.

The company has in recent times been touted to have got the K30S in the works. Redmi’s General Manager has now posted a teaser on Weibo which confirms the company is indeed working on the Redmi K30S.

The Redmi GM posted a shot of a man sitting in a studio with the Redmi logo in a white background with a caption “Who is this?”. The President of Xiaomi’s Mobile division Zeng Xuezhong responded to the post with a comment that suggested the phone will pack a large camera sensor.

An earlier rumour tips the K30S to launch on October 27 while the phone will go on sale on November 1, according to a second rumour. If this is true, the phone is no doubt targeted at the double 11 shopping festival. However, Xiaomi is yet to officially confirm these dates. According to popular tipster Digital Chat Station, the K30S price will be lower than expected. He also hinted that it will be lower than the K30 Ultra’s.

While the K30 Ultra packs a Dimensity 1000+ chipset, the Redmi K30S is expected to be powered by a Snapdragon 865 chipset. In fact, a leak shows the phone is a rebranded Mi 10T. This has been confirmed by a listing on TENAA where the phone was recently certified.

Since the K30 Ultra starts at 2,000 yuan (~$300) for the 6GB+128 GB model, selling the K30S cheaper than that would be pretty interesting. But we doubt if the model will make it outside China since the Mi 10T which it mirrors is already available in the global market.

After the Redmi K30 Pro and K30 Pro Zoom, the upcoming K30S could be the third Snapdragon 865 mobile platform power smartphone from Xiaomi’s sub-brand. It could be housing a 6.67-inch IPS LCD display with a punch-hole design. The full HD+ resolution supporting screen may support up to 144Hz refresh rate.
