<h1><b>Redmi Launches From Last Week</b></h1>
<p>&nbsp;</p>

The K40S is a sibling to the Redmi K40 that was launched last year. The K40 was a popular device with its cumulative sales volume put at over 10 million units. The wide popularity of the K40 may have triggered the need for the CHinese tech giant to launch the K40S despite moving on to the K50 series. <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/redmi-k40s-9.jpg?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-449801" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/redmi-k40s-9.jpg?x44794" alt="Redmi K40S" width="600" height="395" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/redmi-k40s-9.jpg 600w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/redmi-k40s-9-300x198.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></a></p>
<p>While retaining the strengths of the K40, the Redmi K40S improves on the design and features with several enhancements. One aspect that got upgraded is the cooling system. The Redmi K40S utilises a 3112 square mm VC liquid-cooled heat dissipation system instead of the liquid- cooled copper tube used on the K40. The new cooling area is increased by 400%. As a result of the enhanced cooling system, the new model supports the 120-frame mode of multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) games.<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/redmi-k40s-5.jpg?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-449805" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/redmi-k40s-5.jpg?x44794" alt="Redmi K40S" width="600" height="800" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/redmi-k40s-5.jpg 600w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/redmi-k40s-5-225x300.jpg 225w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/redmi-k40s-5-315x420.jpg 315w" sizes="(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></a></p>
<p>Another aspect where the K40S is upgraded is in the charging technology. The K40 supports 67W fast charging twice more than the 33W fast charging onboard the Redmi K40. Thus, the charging time is shortened from 52 minutes to 38 minutes.<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/redmi-k40s-4.jpg?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-449806" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/redmi-k40s-4.jpg?x44794" alt="Redmi K40S" width="600" height="800" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/redmi-k40s-4.jpg 600w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/redmi-k40s-4-225x300.jpg 225w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/redmi-k40s-4-315x420.jpg 315w" sizes="(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></a></p>
<p>The Redmi K40S also features an upgraded camera system. Despite packing a Sony IMX582 48-megapixel main camera just like its predecessor, the main camera comes with optical image stabilization (OIS) which brings stability during photo and video recording while on the move. The main camera teams up with an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle and a 2-megapixel macro lens.<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/redmi-k40s-6.jpg?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-449804" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/redmi-k40s-6.jpg?x44794" alt="Redmi K40S" width="600" height="450" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/redmi-k40s-6.jpg 600w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/redmi-k40s-6-300x225.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/redmi-k40s-6-80x60.jpg 80w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/redmi-k40s-6-265x198.jpg 265w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/redmi-k40s-6-560x420.jpg 560w" sizes="(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></a></p>
<p>Finally, the Redmi K40 comes with some enhancements in its design. The device ditches the curved edge design of its predecessor for a trendy small vertical edge design, which is tougher and sharp. It comes in slightly lighter and thinner at 195 gram and 7.7 mm thickness.<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/redmi-k40s-3.jpg?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-449807" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/redmi-k40s-3.jpg?x44794" alt="Redmi K40S" width="600" height="800" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/redmi-k40s-3.jpg 600w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/redmi-k40s-3-225x300.jpg 225w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/redmi-k40s-3-315x420.jpg 315w" sizes="(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></a></p>
<p>In other aspects, the Redmi K40S is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 chipset paired with 6/8/12GB LPDDR5 memory and 128/256GB UFS 3.1 flash memory. The phone sports a 6.67-inch Samsung E4 AMOLED straight screen with an FHD+ resolution and support for a 120Hz refresh rate. It crams a 4500mAh battery under the hood.<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/redmi-k40s-2.jpg?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-449808" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/redmi-k40s-2.jpg?x44794" alt="" width="600" height="800" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/redmi-k40s-2.jpg 600w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/redmi-k40s-2-225x300.jpg 225w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/redmi-k40s-2-315x420.jpg 315w" sizes="(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></a></p>
<p>The Redmi K40S comes with a side fingerprint recognition and a 20-megapixel selfie camera. You also get Wi-Fi 6, Dolby Atmos support, X-axis linear motor, NFC, infrared remote control, and more.<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/redmi-k40s.jpg?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-449809" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/redmi-k40s.jpg?x44794" alt="" width="600" height="800" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/redmi-k40s.jpg 600w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/redmi-k40s-225x300.jpg 225w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/redmi-k40s-315x420.jpg 315w" sizes="(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></a></p>
<p>As for the price, the Redmi K40S is slightly higher than the price of the K40. It starts at 1799 yuan (~$283) for the 6+128GB variant. Others are;</p>

In September, Xiaomi unveiled the Xiaomi 11T and 11T Pro in global markets. There have been speculations that the 11T could be <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/10/15/redmi-k40s-be-rebranded-xiaomi-11t-with-120w-fast-charging/">rebranded as the Redmi K40s in China</a>. According to <em><a href="https://news.mydrivers.com/1/793/793221.htm">Mydrivers</a>, </em>Redmi General Manager revealed to Mi fans recently that there is no Redmi K40S, and the company is preparing the Redmi K50 lineup.</p>
<p>Even reliable <a href="https://www.weibo.com/6048569942/KFtzH97Ui">tipster Digital Chat Station</a> claimed that the Redmi K40S hasn’t appeared at Chinese certification sites, which indicates it will not be launching in the country. He added that the Redmi K40S would not have been as good as the company’s upcoming Snapdragon 870 powered flagships. One of the SD870 powered phones is expected to launch the Xiaomi branding, while the other one could be the last Redmi K40 series phone from the company.</p>

<p>Redmi fans in China have been waiting for a Redmi K40 series phone powered by the Snapdragon 888. It now appears that the company is unlikely to launch a K40 series handset with SD888 in the home market. The tipster claimed that the company is gearing to launch the Xiaomi 12 lineup and Redmi K50 series.</p>
<p>The <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-mi-11-5g">Xiaomi Mi 11 5G</a> was announced as the first <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/snapdragon-888">Snapdragon 888</a> powered phone in December last year. Hence, it is likely that the Xiaomi 12 may go official with the upcoming Snapdragon 8-series chip in December this year. Probably, the Redmi K50 lineup may go official around the Chinese New Year in February 2022.</p>

The purported K40s has received approval from the 3C authority of China, which indicates that its launch date could be near.</p>
<p>It is speculated that the Xiaomi phone with 20191116C model number will be debuting in China with the Redmi K40s moniker. Its 3C certification has revealed that it may ship with up to a 120W fast charger.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-419174" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/Redmi-k40s-3C.jpg?x44794" alt="Redmi k40s 3C" width="600" height="713" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/Redmi-k40s-3C.jpg 600w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/Redmi-k40s-3C-252x300.jpg 252w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/Redmi-k40s-3C-353x420.jpg 353w" sizes="(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></p>
<p>The <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-11t">Xiaomi 11T</a> carries support for 67W fast charging, whereas the 11T Pro supports 120W rapid charging. Considering that the K40s could be a rebranded version of the 11T, it was speculated to carry support for 67W fast charging. However, its 3C certification suggests that it will come with a faster 120W charger.</p>
<p>Now that the K40s has bagged 3C approval, it is likely to receive TENAA certification in the next few days. Probably, the smartphone will break cover just before the upcoming Double Eleven (Nov. 11) shopping festival in China.</p>

<p>Earlier today (7th October 2021), Wang Teng Thomas, the product manager of the Chinese smartphone maker (Via <a href="https://news.mydrivers.com/1/787/787420.htm" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"><em>MyDrivers</em></a>), revealed that the Redmi K40S series is facing issues in production. In other words, the K40S series might have its launch delayed slightly or its possible that the lineup might not be launched entirely. Although, this is just speculation as of right now, so take it with a pinch of salt.</p>
<p>As per previous reports, the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/09/29/xiaomi-11t-series-will-launch-as-the-redmi-k40s-series-in-china-in-november/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Redmi K40S will be a rebranded Xiaomi 11T series</a>, which is similar to the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/10/15/redmi-k30s-is-a-rebranded-xiaomi-mi-10t-another-evidence-appears/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">K30S being a rebranded Mi 10T</a> series last year. The K40S lineup will apparently include three different models, despite the Xiaomi 11T series only having two models. Although, every model is reportedly set to arrive with different varying charging speeds. The base model will have support for 33W fast charging, while the standard model will charge at 67W, and the high end model will support 120W fast charging.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-412400" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/Xiaomi-11T-rear-white.jpg?x44794" alt="Redmi" width="489" height="489" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/Xiaomi-11T-rear-white.jpg 750w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/Xiaomi-11T-rear-white-150x150.jpg 150w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/Xiaomi-11T-rear-white-300x300.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/Xiaomi-11T-rear-white-696x696.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/Xiaomi-11T-rear-white-420x420.jpg 420w" sizes="(max-width: 489px) 100vw, 489px" /></p>
<p>Furthermore, at least one of the models will feature a <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/mediatek-dimensity-1200/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">MediaTek Dimensity 1200</a> SoC and a <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/snapdragon-870/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Qualcomm Snapdragon 870</a> chip. Since the Xiaomi 11T series also has a model with <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/snapdragon-888/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Snapdragon 888</a> processor, we can expect to see a high end model with the same. It was also reported that the new series will be launched in time for the Double Eleven festival in November. So stay tuned for more updates.</p>

<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-412810" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/Xiaomi-11T-Series-Featured-A.jpg?x44794" alt="Xiaomi 11T Series Featured A" width="4000" height="2250" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/Xiaomi-11T-Series-Featured-A.jpg 4000w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/Xiaomi-11T-Series-Featured-A-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/Xiaomi-11T-Series-Featured-A-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/Xiaomi-11T-Series-Featured-A-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/Xiaomi-11T-Series-Featured-A-696x392.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/Xiaomi-11T-Series-Featured-A-1068x601.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/Xiaomi-11T-Series-Featured-A-747x420.jpg 747w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/Xiaomi-11T-Series-Featured-A-1920x1080.jpg 1920w" sizes="(max-width: 4000px) 100vw, 4000px" /></p>
<p>This isn&#8217;t much of a surprise considering last year&#8217;s <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-mi-10t-5g/">Mi 10T</a> was announced in China as the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-redmi-k30s/">Redmi K30S</a>, so there were already speculations the new Xiaomi 11T series will also be sold in China under the Redmi K series.</p>
<p>The Redmi K40S is said to have been sent to TENAA for certification but it won&#8217;t be the only one launching. The Chinese publication, <em><a href="https://www.ithome.com/0/578/236.htm">ITHome</a></em>, reports that there will be three models all with varying charging speeds. The base model will have support for 33W fast charging, the standard model will charge at 67W, and the high-end model will support 120W fast charging.</p>
<p>Since the Xiaomi 11T series only has two models, that means the third model with support for 33W fast charging is a different device entirely. Maybe this third model will eventually launch later as the Xiaomi 11T Lite 5G for the global market.</p>
<p>It has also been reported that one of the phones will have a <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/01/19/snapdragon-870-5g-official-details-leaked-oneplus-oppo-xiaomi-and-more-will-launch-phones-powered-by-it/">Snapdragon 870 processor</a> whereas the Xiaomi 11T has a <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/01/20/mediatek-announces-6nm-dimensity-1100-1200-5g-chipsets/">Dimensity 1200</a> processor while the Xiaomi 11T Pro is powered by the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/12/01/qualcomm-announces-snapdragon-888-mobile-platform-with-an-integrated-5g-modem/">Snapdragon 888</a>. Based on these details, Xiaomi appears to be making some changes to the series for the Chinese market which is not unusual. While it has a tradition of launching its phones under different names in different markets, there are usually some small changes between them.</p>
<p>The source adds that the Redmi K40S is reported to be released in time for the Double Eleven festival in November. So we should expect a late October or first week in November launch.</p>

Now, ahead of the official launch, information about the devices are surfacing online.</p>
<p>The <a href="https://m.weibo.cn/detail/4602688656901512">leaked screenshots</a> have revealed that one of the major differences between the Redmi K40 and Redmi K40 Pro is the chipset. While the standard model is powered by the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/01/19/snapdragon-870-5g-official-details-leaked-oneplus-oppo-xiaomi-and-more-will-launch-phones-powered-by-it/">Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 SoC</a>, the Pro variant is powered by the Snapdragon 888. Do note that we haven&#8217;t verified the authenticity of these screenshots and they may be fake as the number &#8216;4&#8217; in the model name looks a bit odd.</p>

<a href='https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/02/10/redmi-k40-sd870-chipset-leak/redmi-k40-pro-specs-leak/'><img width="540" height="1200" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/Redmi-K40-Pro-Specs-leak.jpg?x44794" class="attachment-full size-full" alt="Redmi K40 Pro Specs Leak" loading="lazy" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/Redmi-K40-Pro-Specs-leak.jpg 540w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/Redmi-K40-Pro-Specs-leak-135x300.jpg 135w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/Redmi-K40-Pro-Specs-leak-461x1024.jpg 461w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/Redmi-K40-Pro-Specs-leak-189x420.jpg 189w" sizes="(max-width: 540px) 100vw, 540px" /></a>

<p>Reports indicate that there will be a third model in this lineup which will be powered by the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/01/20/mediatek-announces-6nm-dimensity-1100-1200-5g-chipsets/">MediaTek Dimensity 1200</a> chipset, based on the 6nm process. This model is expected to be named Redmi K40S.</p>
<p>Both the models &#8212; Redmi K40 and K40 Pro features a similar type of display. There&#8217;s a 6.81-inch <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/AMOLED">AMOLED panel</a> that supports a screen resolution of 1440p. It uses the same E4 luminous material as the Mi 11 and is likely to have support for a 120Hz refresh rate.</p>
<p>In the camera department, both of them will come with a <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/108mp">108-megapixel primary sensor</a>. However, the Pro model features a 13-megapixel ultra-wide lens and a 5-megapixel telephoto lens while the standard model will come with an 8-megapixel ultra-wide sensor and a 5-megapixel telephoto lens. Both of them will have a 30MP selfie snapper upfront.</p>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/xiaomi">Xiaomi</a> has already teased that the Redmi K40 Pro will have a starting price of around 2,999 yuan (approximately $466) which means that the pricing of the Redmi K40 will be less than that and the Redmi K40S could be the cheapest among the three.</p>
