It&#8217;s easy to assume here that since the upcoming chip from <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/Qualcomm">Qualcomm</a> is a flagship, phones featuring it will be flagships too &#8212; but the leakster said &#8220;both mid-to-high-end and high-end&#8221; offerings will have it under the hood.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-450878 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/xiaomi-snapdragon-8-gen-1-plus.png?x10805" alt="xiaomi snapdragon 8 gen 1 plus" width="961" height="189" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/xiaomi-snapdragon-8-gen-1-plus.png 961w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/xiaomi-snapdragon-8-gen-1-plus-300x59.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/xiaomi-snapdragon-8-gen-1-plus-768x151.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/xiaomi-snapdragon-8-gen-1-plus-696x137.png 696w" sizes="(max-width: 961px) 100vw, 961px" /></p>
<p>And if one pictures an upper mid-range device with a flagship chip, <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/Redmi">Redmi</a> devices immediately come to mind. The sub-brand is known for bringing performance-focused devices with high-end chips to the masses, so it&#8217;s likely that at least one of the said three devices will be its product. The Xiaomi MIX series could also be a contender.</p>
<p>The Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Plus is based on TSMC&#8217;s 4nm process, which many hope will address most of the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2022/03/05/snapdragon-8-gen-1-beaten-by-dimensity-8100-geekbench/">shortcomings</a> from Samsung&#8217;s process used to produce the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. It is expected to use a &#8220;1+3+4&#8221; three-cluster architecture, comprising 1x super-large Cortex X2 core, 3x large Cortex A710 cores, and 4x small Cortex A510 cores.</p>
<p>Sources say that the processor will be used in the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2022/03/23/xiaomi-12-ultra-heres-when-it-is-expected-to-launch-in-china/">Xiaomi 12 Ultra</a>, which should make the phone the new Xiaomi champion in terms of processing power, dethroning the Xiaomi 12 Pro.</p>
<p>The Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Plus is expected to be released in the second quarter of 2022 so the aforementioned trio will likely be also launched around the same time.</p>

Following a bunch of official teasers about the phones, the Redmi today revealed that they will be the first in the industry to support Bluetooth 5.3.</p>
<p>According to the company website, Bluetooth 5.3 on the Redmi K50 series will lower latency, be better optimized for gaming, lower power consumption, and have a more powerful anti-interference ability.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-large wp-image-448764 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/redmi-k50-series-bluetooth-5.3-featured-1024x619.jpg?x10805" alt="redmi k50 series bluetooth 5.3 featured" width="696" height="421" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/redmi-k50-series-bluetooth-5.3-featured-1024x619.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/redmi-k50-series-bluetooth-5.3-featured-300x181.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/redmi-k50-series-bluetooth-5.3-featured-768x465.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/redmi-k50-series-bluetooth-5.3-featured-696x421.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/redmi-k50-series-bluetooth-5.3-featured-1068x646.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/redmi-k50-series-bluetooth-5.3-featured-694x420.jpg 694w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/redmi-k50-series-bluetooth-5.3-featured.jpg 1440w" sizes="(max-width: 696px) 100vw, 696px" /></p>
<p>The Redmi K50 series already is the first to come with the MediaTek Dimensity 8100 high-end chipset so Bluetooth 5.3 is just another industry-first for it.</p>
<p>Redmi also earlier said that the Redmi K50 series &#8220;restores the beauty of the universe with the usage of a new &#8216;nano-microcrystalline process&#8217; inspired by the Olivine Meteorite,&#8221; which will be present on the back cover of the devices.</p>
<p>The Redmi K50 series comprises four models, namely Redmi K50, Redmi K50 Pro, and Redmi K50 Pro+, and the Redmi K50 Gaming Edition, with all of them being equipped with different processors &#8212; Snapdragon 870, Dimensity 8100, Dimensity 9000, and Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, respectively. From these, the Dimensity 9000 appears to be the most powerful, at least <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2022/03/10/redmi-k50-pro-antutu-score/">in terms of benchmarks</a>.</p>

<p>According to the GM, the Redmi brand&#8217;s entire lineup will undergo a complete refresh this year. Several of these products will see their newer iterations on March 17 alone, but it seems that Redmi will be keeping other major events throughout the year.</p>
<p>A teaser image shared with the announcement shows the silhouette of multiple other products along with the Redmi K50 such as a router, a TV, and a laptop.</p>

This laptop is expected to launch alongside the Redmi K50 series.</p>
<p>The <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2022/03/10/redmi-k50-pro-antutu-score/">Redmi K50 series</a> will be the most extensive flagship lineup from Redmi ever and will be powered by processors from both Qualcomm and MediaTek. From these, Xiaomi seems to have huge expectations from the Redmi K50 Gaming and has been <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2022/02/14/redmi-k50-series-rumor-roundup-specs-price-colors-more-what-to-expect/">teasing its features</a> extensively for the past week, with the latest focusing on its audio prowess.</p>
<p>With a <a href="https://weibo.com/3021514657/LfyIkkjI3#comment">post</a> on microblogging site Weibo, Redmi has talked about the concept of frequencies. While most of the music and other other &#8220;mainstream&#8221; audio is limited to the 500-2000Hz mid-frequency band, nailing higher frequencies on speakers has been asserted to be just as important. Redmi says if frequencies are higher than 2000Hz are missing, outputted audio sounds unnatural and less lively. The same holds true for lower frequency sounds as well.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="alignnone size-large wp-image-443450" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/02/redmi-k50-gaming-edition-audio-768x1024.jpg?x10805" alt="redmi k50 gaming edition audio" width="696" height="928" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/02/redmi-k50-gaming-edition-audio-768x1024.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/02/redmi-k50-gaming-edition-audio-225x300.jpg 225w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/02/redmi-k50-gaming-edition-audio-696x928.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/02/redmi-k50-gaming-edition-audio-1068x1424.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/02/redmi-k50-gaming-edition-audio-315x420.jpg 315w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/02/redmi-k50-gaming-edition-audio.jpg 1440w" sizes="(max-width: 696px) 100vw, 696px" /></p>
<p>Manufacturers thus aim to achieve an optimum &#8220;crossover&#8221; of both high-frequency and low-frequency sounds at the same time with a single speaker. But getting this right, unfortunately, is rather difficult.</p>
<p>Redmi says that the solution for this is dividing speakers into units dedicated to either higher or lower frequencies, and firing audio through them together for more balanced sound. This has been claimed to be essential across a number of gaming scenarios such as in FPS games where the ability to distinguish footsteps and gunshots is crucial.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-large wp-image-443093 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/02/Redmi-K50-Gaming-Edition-Teaser-Render-B-1024x683.jpg?x10805" alt="Redmi K50 Gaming Edition" width="696" height="464" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/02/Redmi-K50-Gaming-Edition-Teaser-Render-B-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/02/Redmi-K50-Gaming-Edition-Teaser-Render-B-300x200.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/02/Redmi-K50-Gaming-Edition-Teaser-Render-B-768x512.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/02/Redmi-K50-Gaming-Edition-Teaser-Render-B-696x464.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/02/Redmi-K50-Gaming-Edition-Teaser-Render-B-1068x712.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/02/Redmi-K50-Gaming-Edition-Teaser-Render-B-630x420.jpg 630w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/02/Redmi-K50-Gaming-Edition-Teaser-Render-B.jpg 1920w" sizes="(max-width: 696px) 100vw, 696px" /></p>
<p>The Redmi K50 Gaming Edition has been revealed to be doing just that and comes with a dual symmetrical stereo speaker setup by JBL, further enhanced by Dolby Atmos support. The special audio config is being marketed as a &#8220;breakthrough&#8221; and should result in significantly better speaker performance over last year&#8217;s Redmi K40 Gaming Edition.</p>
<p>Apart from audio, the Redmi K50 Gaming Edition has also been claimed to have achieved another breakthrough in the haptics department, coming with an enhanced version of the X-axis linear motor.</p>

<p>Further, the gaming triggers that sit on one of the longer edges of the Redmi K50 Gaming Edition were likened to the paddle-shifting mechanism on sports cars. This should provide a highly immersive experience with racing games, even though trigger buttons are traditionally used for FPS games on mobile.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-large wp-image-442643 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/02/redmi-k50-gaming-edition-inline-768x1024.jpg?x10805" alt="redmi k50 gaming edition inline" width="696" height="928" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/02/redmi-k50-gaming-edition-inline-768x1024.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/02/redmi-k50-gaming-edition-inline-225x300.jpg 225w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/02/redmi-k50-gaming-edition-inline-696x928.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/02/redmi-k50-gaming-edition-inline-1068x1424.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/02/redmi-k50-gaming-edition-inline-315x420.jpg 315w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/02/redmi-k50-gaming-edition-inline.jpg 1080w" sizes="(max-width: 696px) 100vw, 696px" /></p>
<p>And if you need any more proof about the Redmi K50 Gaming Edition being sports car-inspired, then you need to look no further than its special Mercedes AMG Petronas Edition. This variant features the iconic color scheme of Mercedes F1 cars, with a grey-colored back panel complemented by black triangular patterns around its mid-section.</p>
<p>The Redmi K50 Gaming Edition will be released on February 16 as a successor to last year&#8217;s <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/redmi-k40-game-enhanced/">Redmi K40 Gaming Edition</a>. It is equipped with Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor and has a total heat dissipation area of 4860mm² VC. Its large 4,700mAh battery can be filled up at 120W.</p>

<p>This, <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/Xiaomi">Xiaomi</a> claims, boosts decompression speeds up by 100% and copy speeds by 300%. Paired with top-of-the-line LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 storage, the Redmi K50 Gaming Edition should &#8220;challenge you to the limits of performance.&#8221;</p>
<p>The Redmi K50 Gaming Edition will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor and support VRS variable resolution rendering technology.</p>
<p>Another cool bit revealed today was that the Redmi K50 Gaming Edition comes with 5 major material upgrades for the entire thermal system to greatly improve heat dissipation efficiency. These span the design of the smartphone itself, chip thermal conduction, VC heat transfer, and graphite thermal diffusion.</p>

<p>The Redmi K50 Gaming Edition could be the first to launch from among the Redmi K50 series. The series is perhaps the most diverse yet, equipped with a range of processors including Snapdragon 870, Dimensity 8000, Dimensity 9000, and Snapdragon 8 Gen 1.</p>

<p>A Weibo user asked whether the launch will take place on 25th Feb or 28th Feb, to which Lu Weibing replied saying &#8220;not so late.&#8221;</p>
<p>This means that the &#8220;peak performer&#8221; aka the Redmi K50 Gaming Edition which is rumored to be the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2022/01/12/redmi-k50-gaming-edition-may-be-the-first-to-launch-from-its-lineup/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">first device</a> to launch in the K50 lineup is likely to be released in the 2nd or 3rd week of February.</p>
<p>Nearing the release date, the company has also begun <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2022/02/07/redmi-starts-delisting-redmi-k40-series-ahead-of-redmi-k50-series-launch/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">delisting</a> the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/Redmi-K40/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Redmi K40</a> series smartphones with the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-redmi-k40-pro/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">K40 Pro</a> being completely out of stock right now in China.</p>

<p>So far, leaks have <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2022/01/14/redmi-k50-gaming-specifications-tipped-k50-k50-pro-may-feature-a-side-facing-fingerprint-sensor/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">revealed</a> that the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/Redmi-K50-Gaming-Edition/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Redmi K50 Gaming Edition</a> will measure 162 x 76.8 x 8.45mm and weigh 210 grams. It houses a 6.67-inch display, which appears to be an OLED curved edge panel that supports a Full HD+ resolution. The screen will have Gorilla Glass Victus protection.</p>
<p>For photography, it will feature a 16-megapixel front camera and a 64-megapixel (main) + 13-megapixel + 2-megapixel triple camera unit.</p>
<p>The device will feature a <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/snapdragon-8-gen-1" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC</a> with dual VC liquid cooling which is a premium heat-dissipation system to help keep the temperatures down during intensive gaming. It is also expected to feature a 4,700mAh battery with 120W fast charging which can fill up the battery in just 17 minutes. Additionally, the device will also come equipped with gaming shoulder trigger keys and a side-mounted fingerprint scanner.</p>
<p>Redmi has already announced that the K50 series will debut in <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2022/01/05/redmi-k50-lineup-launch-timeline-key-details-officially-confirmed/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">February 2022</a>. And going by Lu Weibing’s recent Weibo post, we can expect the launch to occur in the second or third week of February.</p>

The successor <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/redmi-k50">Redmi K50</a> has already been subject to a few leaks and is touted to launch anytime soon. Now, the popular tipster <a href="https://m.weibo.cn/detail/4710632459340336" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"><em>@DigitalChatStation</em> </a>has shared its launch timelines giving us an idea of its arrival.</p>
<p>According to the tipster, the Redmi K50 series will debut next year. It is touted to arrive by the end of February in China. Reportedly, the phone will have multiple models, which is obvious considering the many variants of the Redmi K40 series. As per reports, the phone will come with four different chipsets &#8211; <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/snapdragon-8-gen-1">Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1</a>, <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/snapdragon-870">Snapdragon 870</a>,<a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/dimensity-7000"> MediaTek Dimensity 7000</a>, and<a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/dimensity-9000"> Dimensity 9000</a>.</p>

<p>Previous leaks revealed that the K50 series phones will boot<a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/miui-13"> MIUI 13</a> straight out of the box. Considering that the launch is in February it isn&#8217;t a surprise anymore since the MIUI 13 would debut this month itself. Now, it remains to be seen if it debuts with Android 12 based MIUI or Android 11 based MIUI.</p>
<p>Nonetheless, there&#8217;s still plenty of time until we see the device officially on the market. As for now, we have a few specs of the phones, thanks to the leakers and certifications. The Redmi K50 is slated to have codenames &#8211; Matisse and Rubens which may debut as two models with Matisse powering Dimensity 9000 SoC, the much-rumoured gaming model.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-403321 size-large" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/Redmi-K40-Gaming-Edition-Inverse-Scale-featured-1024x779.jpg?x10805" alt="Redmi K40 Gaming Edition Inverse Scale featured" width="1024" height="779" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/Redmi-K40-Gaming-Edition-Inverse-Scale-featured-1024x779.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/Redmi-K40-Gaming-Edition-Inverse-Scale-featured-300x228.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/Redmi-K40-Gaming-Edition-Inverse-Scale-featured-768x584.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/Redmi-K40-Gaming-Edition-Inverse-Scale-featured-80x60.jpg 80w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/Redmi-K40-Gaming-Edition-Inverse-Scale-featured-696x529.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/Redmi-K40-Gaming-Edition-Inverse-Scale-featured-1068x812.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/Redmi-K40-Gaming-Edition-Inverse-Scale-featured-552x420.jpg 552w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/Redmi-K40-Gaming-Edition-Inverse-Scale-featured.jpg 1235w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></p>
<p>The Matisse a.k.a the Dimensity 9000 powered gaming K50 phone will come with either 120Hz or 144Hz refresh rate screen. It is said to be an OLED screen that will double up as an in-display fingerprint scanner for added security. It is expected to have a 64MP quad-camera system and it may come with some cooling mechanism considering that it will be a gaming phone. This device may be called as Redmi K50 Gaming Pro model.</p>
<p>Furthermore, the phone codenamed Rubens is expected to be the Redmi K50 Gaming Standard model powering Dimensity 7000. It may have a 64MP triple camera system followed by some cooling mechanism similar to the Matisse, the Gaming Pro model.</p>
<p>The details regarding the Snapdragon 870 and Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 powered K50 models are yet to be learned. Once we learn more information on the same, we&#8217;ll update you.</p>

<p>The replies to the post mostly revolved around the upcoming Redmi K50 series and netizens expect the flagship to start at just 1,999 Yuan or around $<span class="DFlfde SwHCTb" data-precision="2" data-value="313.27376476">313 &#8211; a reasonable guess considering that Redmi has maintained that price for the Redmi K20, Redmi K30 5G, and the Redmi K40.</span></p>
<p>Lu Weibing has been hyping up the upcoming series for a while now, recently posting another similar question on Weibo about whether the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/11/27/xiaomi-president-asks-if-redmi-k50-series-needs-an-se-model/">Redmi K50 series needs an SE model</a>. Mi Fans had responded to it saying that it&#8217;s unnecessary as the lineup will already be offering 4 models.</p>

<p>The post saw some conflicting replies, but overall, the sentiments seemed to be leaning towards such a model being unnecessary since the K50 series already will be offering 4 models. Others &#8211; the more curious types &#8211; said they&#8217;ll only be able to decide upon getting some further details about the device&#8217;s config.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-large wp-image-427780 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/File_20211127-142618-944x1024.jpg?x10805" alt="" width="696" height="755" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/File_20211127-142618-944x1024.jpg 944w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/File_20211127-142618-277x300.jpg 277w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/File_20211127-142618-768x833.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/File_20211127-142618-696x755.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/File_20211127-142618-1068x1158.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/File_20211127-142618-387x420.jpg 387w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/File_20211127-142618.jpg 1080w" sizes="(max-width: 696px) 100vw, 696px" /></p>
<p>The remainder of the commentators said that the Redmi K50 SE can be a smaller model, noting that while compact phones don&#8217;t sell that well, it will be great to give an extra choice to buyers. Such a model can also come with an LCD display.</p>
<p>As to why Lu Weibing posed such a question, it could be possible that the GM is looking to compensate for the lacking of a Redmi K40S model this year. Xiaomi had last year launched a Redmi K30 followed by a Redmi K30S last year in China &#8211; a trend we didn&#8217;t see in 2021. Or it could simply be an attempt to lock horns with the freshly launched Reno7 series that does include an affordable SE model.</p>
<figure id="attachment_375541" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-375541" style="width: 696px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><img loading="lazy" class="size-large wp-image-375541" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/Redmi-k40-Pro-Review-24-1024x576.jpg?x10805" alt="Redmi k40 Pro Review 24" width="696" height="392" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/Redmi-k40-Pro-Review-24-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/Redmi-k40-Pro-Review-24-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/Redmi-k40-Pro-Review-24-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/Redmi-k40-Pro-Review-24-696x392.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/Redmi-k40-Pro-Review-24-1068x601.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/Redmi-k40-Pro-Review-24-747x420.jpg 747w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/Redmi-k40-Pro-Review-24-1920x1080.jpg 1920w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/Redmi-k40-Pro-Review-24.jpg 2048w" sizes="(max-width: 696px) 100vw, 696px" /><figcaption id="caption-attachment-375541" class="wp-caption-text">Redmi K40 Pro</figcaption></figure>
<p>Either way, it does not make much sense to add yet another model to the already-jampacked Redmi K50 series that&#8217;s comprised of four models codenamed I10, I10a, I11, I11r. Too many offerings can sometimes confuse buyers after all.</p>
<p>At present, not much is known about the K50 series, although leaks have suggested that the I10 will be equipped with Dimensity 9000 processor and the I10a model will use the Snapdragon 870 processor. The lineup will be using <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/11/23/redmi-k50-series-to-offer-4-different-processors-from-qualcomm-mtk/">four different processors from both MediaTek and Qualcomm</a>.</p>

<p>This isn&#8217;t the first time Redmi has opted for a flagship Dimensity processor for its K series though, so it doesn&#8217;t come as a surprise. Looking at the lineup&#8217;s history, the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/12/21/redmi-k30s-extreme-commemorative-edition-miui-update/">Redmi K30 Extreme Edition</a> came equipped with the Dimensity 1000 Plus, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/11/11/deal-redmi-k40-gaming-edition-now-down-to-349-on-giztop/">Redmi K40 Gaming</a> is equipped with Dimensity 1200, and the K50 series will now be equipped with Dimensity 2000.</p>
<p>Coming to the processor itself, the Dimensity 2000 is a flagship unit, which according to benchmark scores will be a direct competitor to Qualcomm&#8217;s upcoming Snapdragon 898 chip. A leak had recently shown a phenomenal <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/11/12/mediatek-dimensity-2000-sets-new-antutu-record-with-1-million-score/">AnTuTu score of over a million</a>. For comparison, its predecessor Dimensity 1200 scores around 715,000.</p>
<p>The CPU will be using the same architecture as the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/11/15/qualcomm-may-call-its-snapdragon-898-processor-something-else-entirely/">Snapdragon 898</a> and feature 1x 3.0GHz X2 super large core + 3x 2.85GHz large cores + 4x 1.8GHz small cores. It will be paired with a Mali-G710 MC10 GPU.</p>
<p>It is worth noting here that the Redmi K50 model equipped with the Dimensity 2000 will likely be a standard model. The Pro or Pro+ variant is expected to be powered by the Snapdragon 898, just like the K40 Pro+ is powered by the Snapdragon 888.</p>
<p>Also worth mentioning is that the Redmi K50 series will most likely be sold with different names outside of China. Take the Redmi K40, for example, that sells as <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/11/09/poco-f3-moonlight-silver-variant-is-the-new-kid-on-the-block/">Poco F3</a> globally and as <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/09/04/xiaomi-mi-11x-poco-f3-miui-12-5-enhanced-edition-update/">Mi 11X</a> in India.</p>

Redmi&#8217;s K series had done away with under-display fingerprint scanners in favor of side-mounted fingerprint tech despite being &#8216;flagship killer&#8217; devices.</p>
<p>Although under-display fingerprint tech is still a little off from perfection and tends to be less accurate than rear or side-mounted fingerprint scanners, it&#8217;s a fan-favorite because it&#8217;s undeniably <em>cooler</em>. It may also be more convenient. The tech is more expensive though, which is probably why <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/Redmi">Redmi</a> chose to do away with it in order to shave some of the cost of the K series.</p>
<figure id="attachment_422708" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-422708" style="width: 696px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><img loading="lazy" class="size-large wp-image-422708" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/Redmi-K50-concept-renders-819x1024.jpg?x10805" alt="Redmi K50 concept renders" width="696" height="870" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/Redmi-K50-concept-renders.jpg 819w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/Redmi-K50-concept-renders-240x300.jpg 240w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/Redmi-K50-concept-renders-768x960.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/Redmi-K50-concept-renders-696x870.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/Redmi-K50-concept-renders-336x420.jpg 336w" sizes="(max-width: 696px) 100vw, 696px" /><figcaption id="caption-attachment-422708" class="wp-caption-text">Redmi K50 concept renders (HoiINDI)</figcaption></figure>
<p>But the K series has always been Redmi&#8217;s top-of-the-line offering and keeping it barred from the tech would have been unreasonable. Redmi will thus be shipping the K50 series with under-display fingerprints next year (via <a href="https://news.mydrivers.com/1/792/792992.htm">My Drivers</a>).</p>
<p>This will not change the K50 series objective of being purely performance-oriented devices in any way though. Qualcomm&#8217;s upcoming 4nm <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/10/08/redmi-k50-pro-key-specifications-leak-reveals-snapdragon-898-108mp-camera-and-more/">Snapdragon 898</a> flagship processor will thus be featured on it, or at least on the Pro model. For comparison, the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/03/26/380127-redmi-k40-series-sales-china-1-million-23-days/">Redmi K40 series</a> (Poco F3/Mi 11X) is comprised of the Redmi K40 with the Snapdragon 870 and the Redmi K40 Pro/Pro+ with the Snapdragon 888.</p>
<p>In addition to the above, the Redmi K50 series will be equipped with 100W+ fast charging for the first time. This may be limited to the Pro/Pro+ variants though. The series will also come with 120Hz AMOLED displays, with the Pro version having a 108MP camera.</p>
<p>We expect Xiaomi to announce the new Redmi phones in December or early January 2022.</p>

The K20 was launched in May 2019 as Redmi&#8217;s first flagship model. The K30 also joined the fray in November 2019 while the K30S made its debut in 2020. Xiaomi is now working on the Redmi K50. <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/redmi-k50.jpg?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-395970" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/redmi-k50.jpg?x10805" alt="" width="1000" height="438" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/redmi-k50.jpg 1000w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/redmi-k50-300x131.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/redmi-k50-768x336.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/redmi-k50-696x305.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/redmi-k50-959x420.jpg 959w" sizes="(max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px" /></a></p>
<p>Redmi&#8217;s GM and Xiaomi vice-president Lu Weibing recently attempted to sample opinion of fans concerning the features, configuration and experience they hope to get from the next-gen Redmi K50. Apart from that, prolific tipster Digital Chat Station also disclosed that the K50 series will improve on the features of its predecessor especially in the aspect of fast charging, video/imaging, and screen quality.</p>
<p>Recall that the Redmi K40 featured support for 33W fast charging technology for the 4,520mAH battery under the hood. We may see an upgrade to either 50W or 65W. For now, there is no lead as to the features that would find their way into the K50 series. <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/redmi-k50-2.jpg?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-395971" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/redmi-k50-2.jpg?x10805" alt="" width="1000" height="599" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/redmi-k50-2.jpg 1000w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/redmi-k50-2-300x180.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/redmi-k50-2-768x460.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/redmi-k50-2-696x417.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/redmi-k50-2-701x420.jpg 701w" sizes="(max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px" /></a>The Chinese tech giant is yet to say when the model will be unveiled but going by precedence and the timing of Weibing&#8217;s post, the company might announce the model before the year runs out.</p>
<p>We expect details of the K50 series to emerge in the coming weeks. We&#8217;ll keep yu posted here on Gzmochina when that happens. But before then, spare a minute to tell us the aspect you&#8217;ll like to see Redmi upgrade on the upcoming K50 series in the comments section below.</p>
