Recently, the Redmi K60 Ultra went official in China as the most premium Redmi-branded smartphone to date. Despite featuring high-end features, the device carries a cheaper price tag than regular flagships.

This makes it a flagship-killer smartphone. Although there are several such handsets from fellow Chinese brands, the K60 Ultra offers certain features that make it unique.

For the unaware, the Redmi K Ultra lineup was never like this. The previous (first) two products in the series were merely an extension of the Redmi K family for the second half of the year.

However, this time around, the brand pulled off a winner. The latest Redmi K60 Ultra ticks almost all the boxes for being a flagship phone.

Let’s go through how this device came to be by taking a look at its predecessors as well as itself.

The series kicks off

The Redmi K30 Ultra was the first phone in the Redmi K Ultra lineup. It was announced at Xiaomi’s 10-year anniversary launch conference in August 2020.

It was a companion device for Mi 10 Ultra, the first-ever Xiaomi Ultra smartphone. It was not positioned as a premium product since it was actually cheaper than the Redmi K30 Pro.

The K30 Ultra differed from the K30 Pro in two aspects. It was powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 1000+ SoC instead of a Snapdragon 865 chip. Secondly, it had a 120Hz AMOLED display, making it the first Redmi K series handset with a high refresh rate OLED screen.

It is the only Redmi K Ultra phone with a pop-up camera since its siblings had it. Anyways, the best thing about it was its ¥1,999 (~$275) starting price. No other smartphone offered such a compelling feature set at this price.

Successor sets a trend

There was no Redmi K40 Ultra as the brand skipped a year. The successor arrived as Redmi K50 Ultra in August 2022.

Once again, the Ultra had a different chipset and display, in addition to a non-identical design. The handset featured a more powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen SoC instead of MediaTek Dimensity 8100 and Dimensity 9000 chips like vanilla and pro models, respectively.

Though the chipset was better than its siblings, we could not say the same for the display. It flaunted a 1.5K OLED screen instead of a QHD panel. But it started a revolution of affordable 1.5K display phones from the Oppo group (Oppo, Realme, and OnePlus).

As for pricing, the Redmi K50 Ultra was not affordable like the Redmi K30 Ultra. It was introduced at the same price as the Redmi K50 Pro. This way consumers had an option of either going with Qualcomm chip and lower resolution display or MediaTek SoC and higher resolution screen.

Third time’s the charm

The Redmi K60 Ultra also comes with a different design, chip, and display when compared to its siblings. In addition to these differences, it also arrives with some features that are mostly only found on proper flagships.

The device is powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 9200 Plus chip instead of the Qualcomm Snapdragon chipsets found inside its siblings. It is also Xiaomi’s first 24GB RAM smartphone.

Further, the display retains the 1.5K resolution from its predecessor compared to the QHD+ panel on K60 and K60 Pro. But this screen not only offers a faster 144Hz refresh rate but also 2,880Hz PWM frequency and 2,600 nits local peak brightness level.

Apart from the flagship-level bright display, the Redmi K60 Ultra is even IP68-rated for dust and water resistance. It is the first Redmi phone with proper ingress protection.

Finally, it is Xiaomi’s first handset to come with five years of guaranteed software support. The product is said to receive four Android updates and five years of security updates.

Regardless of all the aforementioned upgrades over its predecessors and siblings, the Redmi K60 Ultra is actually more affordable than them. It starts at just ¥2,599 (~$355).

Thus, in the third generation, the Redmi K Ultra lineup has upgraded to an almost proper flagship smartphone status despite carrying an affordable price tag.

Xiaomi sub-brand Redmi launched the Redmi K60 series in December last year. The brand is reportedly working on the K60 Ultra model. It is expected to arrive as the successor to the Redmi K50 Ultra. Last month, Digital Chat Station had leaked some key information of the K60 Ultra. Now another Weibo user Wisdom Pikachu has shared details about the upcoming smartphone. 

As per Wisdom Pikachu, the Redmi K60 Ultra will come with a 1.5K display with a 144Hz refresh rate which was also noted by DCS. The new information from the Weibo user adds that the smartphone will be powered by MediaTek’s unannounced Dimensity 9200+ processor which is expected to launch next month. The device will also reportedly support 120W fast charging. Additionally, Wisdom Pikachu states that the Redmi K60 Ultra will launch in Q3, 2022 i.e. the period between July to September. 

There is no additional information about the Redmi K60 Ultra at the moment. In other news, the Xiaomi sub-brand announced the Redmi Note 12S and Note 12 Pro 4G smartphones in Europe today. Both come with an FHD+ AMOLED display with the former having a 90Hz refresh rate and the latter maxing out at 120Hz. The latest offerings have 108MP primary and 8MP ultra-wide-angle camera sensors on the back. 

The Redmi Note 12S is powered by a Helio G96 SoC whereas the Note 12 Pro 4G is equipped with a Snapdragon 732G. Both phones are backed by a 5,000mAh cell with support for 67W fast charging.

Display

The display of the Redmi K50 Ultra is very interesting. It is one of the few devices in the market sporting a panel produced by TCL. It is an OLED display with a 1.5K resolution, which sits in the middle between Full HD+ and Quad HD+. It has a diagonal of 6.67 inches, it shows up to 68 billion colors, it has a 144 Hz refresh rate, the HDR10+ certification, and Dolby Vision, as well as an in-display fingerprint scanner. Despite this display being very nice in terms of color reproduction, the Motorola Moto X30 Pro is a valid opponent thanks to the presence of an OLED display with one billion colors, a Full HD+ resolution, a 144 Hz refresh rate, and the HDR10+ certification. The panel has a Full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels and an in-display fingerprint reader. These handsets are equipped with stereo speakers, but they do not have a 3.5 mm audio jack.

Specs & Software

One of the most important advantages of these handsets is the processor: they are fueled with the best Qualcomm chipset, the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1. It is an SoC built with a 4 nm production process sporting an octa-core architecture composed of a Cortex X2 CPU running at a max frequency of 3.19 GHz, three Cortex A710 CPUs running at 2.75 GHz, four Cortex A510 CPUs running at 1.8 GHz, and an Adreno 730 GPU. On both handsets, the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 is paired with up to 12 GB of LPDDR5 RAM and up to 512 GB of UFS 3.1 internal storage. So, on the hardware side, it is essentially a draw, the different thing is the software. The Motorola has Android 12 customized by MYUI, while the Redmi has Android 12 customized by MIUI.

Camera

The Motorola Moto X30 Pro is undoubtedly the best camera phone of the duo. It is the world’s first phone with a 200 MP main camera, it supports OIS and it has two amazing secondary cameras: a 50 MP ultrawide lens and a 12 MP telephoto lens with 2x optical zoom. Last but not least, an awesome 60 MP selfie camera. The Redmi K50 Ultra is not able to compete with this device, but it still comes with a decent camera departing: it sports a triple camera with 108 + 8 + 2 MP resolution, OIS, and a 20 MP selfie shooter.

Battery

If your goal is to get a bigger battery and a longer battery life, then you should go for the Redmi K50 Ultra without thinking twice: it has a huge 5000 mAh battery with 120W fast charging bringing it to 100 percent in just 19 minutes. The Motorola Moto X30 Pro has a smaller 4610 mAh battery and a shorter battery life but, on the other hand, it supports wireless charging with a power of 50W, as well as a 125W fast charging technology.

Price

You need at least €550 or $550 to purchase the Motorola Moto X30 Pro, while the starting price of the Redmi K50 Ultra roughly translates into €430 or $430 at the actual change. The former has better cameras and wireless charging, the latter has a bigger battery. Which one would you pick?

OnePlus 10T & Redmi K50 Ultra

3 months ago, we did a full comparison of the Realme GT Neo 3 and the Redmi K50, and they were probably the best Android phones with great value for money to buy in the first half of the year. Today, we’ll find out the best phones to buy under $500 in 2022 with a matchup, and now let’s give a passionate welcome to today’s two cowboys: the Redmi K50 Ultra and the Oneplus ACE Pro, the latter of which is available outside China as the OnePlus 10T.

Design

The design of both phones obviously comes from their flagship products, and if you have already had a Xiaomi 12 or OnePlus 10, you will definitely feel familiar. So both of them didn’t really work on their appearance design.

But if have to say something, I slightly prefer the design of the OnePlus model, which has a new texture on the back cover, providing a unique touch and greatly preventing fingerprints.

In terms of available color variants, Oneplus offers two different styles to choose from, I think most Oneplus fans will still go for the black version because it has a really cool surface texture, while Redmi offers richer options. The AMG co-branded model really looks different, but the other variants are pretty boring actually since we’ve seen enough Xiaomi 12 and 12s. As claimed, they’ll release a White variant later this year, but I think it won’t change anything.

They are very similar in size and weight, but when you hold them in your hands, you’ll immediately notice that the ACE Pro feels better in your hands and your fingers won’t snag while playing games because there is a smoother curved transition between the camera module and the back cover.

Another detail I want to point out is that OnePlus has placed the volume buttons and the power button on each side of the phone, so it is easier to achieve some operations by using a combination of buttons with one hand, such as taking a screenshot with them.

Display

The screen upgrade is a major selling point of the K50 Ultra. And they called it in a super strange way, the new 1.5K-resolution display.

This sounds really confusing and doesn’t really make sense, but actually all you need to know is that it’s a resolution a little lower than QHD but a little higher than FHD, which is not exactly an innovation for smartphone displays. Actually, we’ve seen that the Huawei P50 Pro also uses a similar resolution, but never heard of the word ‘1.5K’.

so why can’t Xiaomi just call it FHD+ Display? Make it look like the Apple Style for advertisement? Anyway, compared to the ACE Pro, the K50 Ultra looks slightly sharper when displaying small text, and it also has a higher screen brightness. so leave the strange 1.5K alone, and the K50 Ultra indeed offers a better display here no matter for indoor or outdoor uses.

But what I must say is that the higher resolution and brightness are not the most important thing, what really deserves your attention is that the K50 Ultra supports high-frequency PWM dimming, which means it can effectively avoid damaging flicker issues at low screen brightness.

The fact is that you can’t see these flickers with the naked eye, but they are real and some of you might easily feel them. so at least in terms of the screen, I can say that the K50 Ultra completely beats the ACE Pro.

Performance & Gaming

The power and efficiency of Snapdragon 8+ are undeniable, but since we’ve tested more and more phones with the Snapdragon 8+ platform, we’ve discovered that even though Qualcomm has returned to the arms of TSMC, if you want to build a phone that can play any mobile game without worry, you still have to put some effort into the thermal design.

From these gaming tests, we can see that the framerates are very close, and it is clear that current mobile games are no longer a threat to the Snapdragon 8+. The real difference lies in the phone’s temperature. perhaps due to the larger VC Vapor Chamber inside, the ACE Pro’s surface temperature during gaming is significantly lower than that of the K50 Ultra.

Now let’s go back and look at the benchmark, I was expecting they would perform closely on benchmarks. And yes they are, as you can see they both achieved very close results to each other, and other Snapdragon 8+ phones as well.

Stability

But when I ran the 3DMark Wild Life Extreme test on the K50 Ultra, the test was terminated due to overheating and the phone closed all background applications. Not just once, but three times I tried, and the K50 Ultra just couldn’t complete the test, either in balanced or performance mode with the latest software version.

This means that if there are future mobile games that require higher performance, this K50 Ultra may be easier to knock out by heated issues. Also in this hottest summer, the ACE Pro can provide a more stable experience. I don’t know if Xiaomi will be able to fix this in a future software update, but at least for today, I would vote for the ACE Pro.

Cameras

Now let’s talk about the camera, for these two budget phones we only need to focus on their main camera, trust me you really won’t use the other two lenses on both of them, especially their 2 MP macro lenses. but luckily at least their main lenses are still good.

The 108MP CMOS on the K50 Ultra looks stronger than the 50MP CMOS on the ACE Pro, but in reality, you can hardly tell which is better in terms of detail from the samples we shot here.

What’s even more embarrassing is that when you turn on full pixel mode in the K50 Ultra, you’ll find that the photos are still not as sharp as the ACE Pro, even though it has only half the pixels of the K50 Ultra. Considering that one of the longest things Apple has stuck with over the years is using Sony’s sensors, it’s probably not hard to understand such a result here.

When it comes at night, the ACE Pro takes even more impressive photos and we can see better dynamic range and colors. No one knows exactly how many IMX766 the OPPO Group purchased from Sony, but as the saying goes, what goes around comes around, and in terms of photographing, they really beat competitors at the budget level with this sensor.

Battery & Charging

The ACE Pro supports greater charging power than the K50 Ultra, and as a compromise, it has a smaller battery, but from using it these days, I found that both the performance of their battery life and charging speed are very close, with the ACE Pro being faster in the first ten minutes of charging. Considering that they don’t support wireless charging either, you really don’t need to get too tangled up in the power solution.

Conclusion

In my opinion, the ACE Pro finally wins the trophy. And at the $500 pricing, OnePlus made the better choice, with the better design, better main camera, insane cooling solution, and most importantly, up to 16GB of RAM storage for options, which makes the ACE Pro really a new flagship killer.

It can stay with you for a long time. As for the K50 Ultra, until the end of this video, I still can’t figure out why Xiaomi didn’t bring them on the 12S, no matter the 2K screen on the K50 or the 1.5K screen on this Ultra version. For the Redmi K series, they really should have spent the money on the camera and cooling solution as it should have been a flagship killer.

Recently, the Redmi K50 Ultra was launched in China with a 1.5K display supplied by Chinese screen makers TCL CSOT and Tianma. Though it is not the first smartphone to come with a display sporting this resolution, it is probably the most marketed one in recent times. According to a reliable tipster, more brands will soon use this screen resolution.

Digital Chat Station took to Weibo to reveal that the Oppo group will release smartphones featuring 1.5K flexible displays like the Redmi K50 Ultra. For the uninitiated, the group consists of Oppo, OnePlus, and Realme. Hence, we may see such phones from these brands.

The leaker suggests that the panel used by these brands will offer up to 2160Hz PWM dimming for eye protection. For comparison, the display on the Redmi K50 Ultra is limited to 1920Hz PWM dimming.

Unfortunately, that’s all the information DCS has shared so far. We can expect the Oppo group to source display panels from fellow Chinese companies like TCL CSOT, Tianma, and Visionox to boost the market share of domestic brands. We are looking forward to learning more about this development.

According to online reports, Xiaomi will be launching its 2022 flagship killer offerings, the Xiaomi 12T and Xiaomi 12T Pro as soon as next month in September. 

And last week, we saw the Xiaomi 12T and Xiaomi 12T Pro receiving electronics certifications from the FCC in the United States and Thailand’s NBTC agency. And today, the Malaysian technology news site, Amanz, reported that both devices were officially certified in the Malaysian electronics safety regulation agency (SIRIM) database.

The listings reveal the model numbers and names for the upcoming Xiaomi 12T series. The standard Xiaomi 12T holds the model number 22071212AG, whilst the Xiaomi 12T Pro sports the model number 22081212UG. And with the safety certifications for both devices officially approved, it is safe to say that the availability of the Xiaomi 12T series will include countries like Malaysia, Thailand, and possibly other surrounding Asian countries as well.

Regarding, the specifications of the Xiaomi 12T series, based on our previous reporting, the vanilla Xiaomi 12T is expected to feature MediaTek’s flagship Dimensity 8100 Ultra SoC, 8 GB of RAM, and 256 GB of built-in storage. It will come equipped with a 108-megapixel triple camera setup and is expected to carry support for 67W fast wired charging.

According to an FCC listing, the more expensive Xiaomi 12T Pro will be available with dual SIM support, standalone and non-standalone 5G capabilities, and NFC to boot. A 6.67-inch bright AMOLED FHD+ 144Hz display and an in-screen fingerprint scanner is to be present on the Xiaomi 12T Pro.

The device will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor together with LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 storage. The device’s operating system will be MIUI 13, which is based on Android 12. It is expected to include a 5,000mAh battery with the capability for 120W fast charging.

Xiaomi announced the flagship smartphone under the Redmi brand, dubbed Redmi K50 Extreme Edition, which is also known as the Redmi K50 Ultra, a few days back, and now from today, the company has officially started selling the device in China.

The Redmi K50 Extreme Edition has a starting price of 2,999 yuan and is available for purchase in three color options — Black, Silver, and Blue.

The base model with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage costs 2,999 yuan (~$445), while the 8GB RAM and 256GB storage mode is priced at 3,299 yuan (~$487) but will be available at a discounted rate of 3,099 yuan (~$457) for the first sale.

The 12GB RAM and 256GB model, priced at 3,599 yuan (~$531), has been discounted to 3,399 yuan (~$502) for the first sale. Similarly, the 12GB RAM and 512GB storage model is also discounted to 3,699 yuan (~$546) compared to the regular price of 3,999 yuan (~$590). There’s also a Champion Edition which is priced at 4,199 yuan (~$620).

The Redmi K50 Extreme Edition features a 6.67-inch OLED display with a screen resolution of 2712 x 1220 pixels and comes with support for a 120hz refresh rate, 480Hz touch sampling rate, 500nit brightness, 12bit color depth, Dolby Vision, HR10, and HDR10+.

Under the hood, the device is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 processor, coupled with up to 12GB LPDDR5 RAM and 512GB of UFS 3.1 internal storage. It also has a 3725mm² VC vapor chamber to keep the temperature in check.

In the camera department, the phone has a triple-camera setup on the back that includes a 108-megapixel Samsung S5KHM6 primary camera, an 8-megapixel Samsung S5K4H7 ultra-wide-angle lens, and a 2-megapixel Geke GC02M1 macro lens. On the front side, there’s a 20-megapixel Sony IMX596 snapper for taking selfies and video calling.

The phone runs the Android 12 operating system out-of-the-box with the company’s own MIUI 13 custom interface on top. It is powered by a 5,000mAh battery which comes with support for 120W fast charging that is claimed to charge the device in just 19 minutes.

Xiaomi’s flagship device for 2022, the Xiaomi 12S Ultra, brought ultra-premium features for an ultra-premium price of 5,999 yuan (~$890). However, not everyone is looking to spend $900 on a smartphone. And for people wanting a budget flagship, Xiaomi’s independent brand, Redmi has a new model on offer – the Redmi K50 Ultra. Like its predecessors, the phone brings flagship-grade specs at a mid-range starting price of just 2999 yuan ($445).
Given that there’s a new model in the K50 series, let’s take a quick look at how the new Redmi K50 Ultra differs from the Redmi K50 Pro model that was announced a few months back.

Design

Although the Redmi K50 Ultra was announced a few months after the K50 Pro, the basic form factor of the two devices remain the same. They measure around 8.55mm in thickness and weigh around 201 grams. Both the phones feature rounded corners with a subtle curve at the back for better grip. The texture is also similar, which is smooth and matte-like. Even the fingerprint sensor is side mounted on the two models.

However, they differ in terms of the color options available, along with subtle changes.
The Ultra model comes in black, grey, light blue colours. There’s also a special AMG edition in dark grey with green accents. On the other hand, the K50 Pro comes in green, grey, blue colours, along with a special black edition.
There are also other subtle differences between the two devices. For example, the new K50 Ultra has a narrower camera module, with the camera sensors aligned vertically. The Pro model uses a circular camera module to house all of its three sensors.

Although the two phones have similar designs, the subtle changes make the Redmi K50 Ultra feel more modern and premium, giving it a slight edge in this department. If you are a fan of Mercedes AMG Racing, then the AMG edition would be an obvious choice to buy, despite its marked up price tag.

Display

The two models have near identical displays featuring a 6.67-inch panel with 120Hz refresh rate, 480Hz touch sampling rate, Dolby Vision, and HDR10+ support. However, if you noticed, we didn’t mention the resolution in the common features. That’s because the Redmi K50 Ultra comes with a 1.5K resolution 2712 x 1220 display instead of the 2K 1440 x 3200 (WQHD+) resolution on the K50 Pro.

The drop in resolution on the higher-end Ultra model is definitely surprising but the difference shouldn’t be significant in real life. So, you can’t go wrong with either of these devices when it comes to the display department.

Specs & Software

The K50 Ultra features the fastest processor from Qualcomm’s stable in 2022, the Snapdragon 8+ Gen1 SoC. In comparison to the MediaTek Dimensity 9000 found inside the K50 Pro, the Ultra definitely gets the advantage when it comes to sheer power. We have tested out the Snapdragon 8+ Gen1 in multiple phones and we were left impressed its overall performance, including sustained gaming.
As for the memory options, both the models max out at 12GB of RAM and up to 256GB of storage. Clearly, performance shouldn’t be a major issue on both these models, especially the K50 Ultra, even for high-end gaming.
Given that these are two models from the same K series lineup, they both run on Android 12 based MIUI OS.

For the best performance, the K50 Ultra is an easy choice in this comparison.

Camera

The camera setup remains the same on both the Redmi K50 Pro and the K50 Ultra models. They both feature a 108MP high-resolution primary camera with OIS, another 8MP ultra-wide angle shooter with 119˚ field of view, and a basic 2MP f/2.4 macro camera.

While the two phones have identical camera hardware, the chipsets inside will influence the final output of the pictures and videos. We have traditionally seen Snapdragon chips churn out better camera samples than its MediaTek counterparts and we expect the same to be the case with the K50 Ultra. So, the Ultra model could capture better images than the Pro model. However, only a real life camera comparison would reveal the true performance of their cameras.

Battery

Both phones come with 120W fast charging technology with 5000mAh battery capacity. Given their fast charging speeds and relatively large batteries, you don’t have to worry about battery life. Both support QC3+ / PD2.0 / PD3.0 fast charging protocols.

Unfortunately, given their affordable status, both the Redmi devices don’t support Wireless Charging.

Price

The newly announced Redmi K50 Ultra starts at 2999 yuan ($445) in China but is already available via retailers like Giztop. On the other hand, the Redmi K50 Pro can be bought globally via sites like Giztop and Aliexpress for around $500.

The Redmi K50 Ultra is placed a level higher than the Pro model, so if you want the best performance and features, it makes sense to go for the new Ultra model. On the other hand, the Redmi K50 Pro is still a pretty good purchase if you can get it for under $500 globally. It comes with an efficient yet powerful Dimensity 9000 chipset with 2K resolution display and a similar camera setup.

But if you are getting the Ultra for a few dollars more, it makes complete sense to get the newer model with Qualcomm’s most powerful chipset.

After teasing for days, Xiaomi has officially launched the Redmi K50 Ultra in China. The latest smartphone in the Redmi K50 series looks somewhat similar to the Xiaomi 12/12S lineup. Also, it comes with some interesting specs. Let’s take a look at all of its features along with pricing and availability.

Redmi K50 Ultra Specifications

The Redmi K50 Ultra flaunts a 6.7-inch centered punch-hole 12-bit OLED display supplied by China’s TCL CSOT and Tianma. This panel offers a resolution of 2712 x 1220 pixels, 446 PPI, 120Hz refresh rate, and 1920Hz PWM dimming.

The screen supports Dolby Vision, DCI-P3 color gamut, HDR10+, and Adaptive HDR. The SGS low fatigue-certified display also has a hardware-level low blue light mode.

Further, the phone is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 chipset paired with LPPDR5 RAM, UFS 3.1 storage, and VC liquid cooling system. It boots MIUI 13 based on Android 12.

The device houses a triple camera system on its rear consisting of an OIS-assisted 108MP Samsung ISOCELL HM6 primary sensor, an 8MP ultra-wide unit, and a 2MP macro snapper. On the front, it has a 20MP selfie camera.

Other features include dual SIM, 5G, WiFi 6, dual-band GNSS, NFC, IP53 rating, Dolby Atmos-supported dual stereo speakers, an x-axis linear vibration motor, and an in-screen fingerprint sensor.

Redmi has been teasing the arrival of the Redmi K50 Extreme Edition for the past few days in China. Today, the brand released an official confirmation through its Weibo handle that it will be unveiled tomorrow (Aug. 11) in China. Once announced, the device is likely to be promoted as the Redmi K50 Ultra.

Redmi has already confirmed that the RedmI K50 Ultra will come equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 chipset. The official poster teases the camera module of the phone. Previous leaks had claimed that the device would feature a 200-megapixel main camera. However, a recent leak revealed that the Redmi K50 Ultra will have a 108-megapixel Samsung ISOCELL HM6 primary camera. It is said to come with an 8-megapixel ultra-wide camera with 8 megapixels and a 2-megapixel macro camera.

The OnePlus Ace Pro is now scheduled to go official on August 9. The event will begin at 7 PM CST and can be live-streamed on Weibo and other popular Chinese video streaming platforms.

The handset will come with a 6.7-inch 120Hz AMOLED display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 chipset, 50MP (wide) + 8MP (ultra-wide) + 2MP (macro) triple camera setup, no alert slider, 4,800mAh battery, 150W fast wired charging support, and more.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4

Samsung has confirmed to debut its next-gen Galaxy Z Fold series foldable phone (Galaxy Z Fold 4) on August 10. The conference will be live-streamed on YouTube starting from 9 AM ET. The event can be also experienced in the metaverse (Samsung 837x).

Samsung may drop the Z branding for its foldables. Hence, the device could be simply called Galaxy Fold 4.

According to leaks and rumors, it will be shorted but wider and thicker than its predecessor. It will arrive with a single hinge and a new rear camera layout. Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4

The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 will be announced alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 4 on August 10. It could go official as Galaxy Flip 4 without the Z branding.

The handset is said to be almost identical to its predecessor with some minor changes. It will be slightly smaller but thicker as well. Further, the hinge will be thinner and the crease will be a little less noticeable.

Motorola Moto G62 5G

The Motorola Moto G62 5G went official in western markets in June. It has been now confirmed to launch in India on August 11 at 12 PM. This model will come with a different chipset.

The Indian variant of Moto G62 5G will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 695 SoC instead of a Snapdragon 480 Plus SoC. Other than this, it will have the same specs as the original version.

The Moto Edge X30 Pro is expected to release as Motorola Edge 30 Ultra outside mainland China.

Motorola Moto S30 Pro

The Motorola Moto S30 Pro will be also announced alongside the Razr 2022 and the Moto Edge X30 Pro at the August 11 event in China. This upper mid-range smartphone is said to be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 Plus chip.

Reports say that it will arrive with a 6.55-inch FHD+ curved OLED display, 50MP triple camera setup, 4,270mAh battery, and 68.2W fast wired charging support. It is expected to launch as Motorola Edge 30 Fusion in international markets.

Realme 9i 5G

The Realme 9i 5G has been confirmed to launch in India on August 18. The device will be announced in a live stream, which is scheduled to begin at 11:30 AM IST.

The handset will be powered by a MediaTek 810 chipset. It will come with a triple camera system and a flat frame. Finally, it is teased to cost under ₹15,000.

Unfortunately, that’s all the information available about this phone as of now.

Vivo V25 Pro

The Vivo V25 Pro is tipped to launch in India on August 15 and will go on sale from August 25. As of writing this article, the company had also officially started teasing the arrival of the smartphone.

The Redmi K50 Extreme Edition launch date will be confirmed soon for China. Ahead of the launch, the rumor mill is working hard to reveal details of the smartphone. A new leak from Panda is Bald has revealed the screen resolution of the K50 Extreme Edition. The device has also been seen on Geekbench, which shows some of its other specs. In all likelihood, Redmi may market it as the Redmi K50 Ultra after launch.

Previous reports have revealed that the Redmi K50 Extreme Edition will be equipped with a 6.7-inch AMOLED display. A recent leak revealed that it would be the first K50 series phone to have an under-display fingerprint scanner. Today’s leak reveals that its display will support 2712 x 1220 pixels resolution.

Previous leaks had claimed that the Redmi K50 Extreme Edition would be Xiaomi’s first phone with a 200-megapixel camera. However, the tipster has further revealed that the smartphone will not have a 200-megapixel lens but a 108-megapixel Samsung ISOCELL HM6 primary camera. It will be assisted by an 8-megapixel ultra-wide camera and a 2-megapixel macro / depth assist lens.

The Redmi K50 Extreme Edition is already confirmed to feature the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset. Its TENAA listing is yet to be populated with its entire specifications. However, preliminary details available on TENAA reveal that it will arrive in 8 GB RAM + 128 GB storage and 12 GB RAM + 256 GB storage variants.

The K50 Extreme Edition will pack a 5,000mAh battery with 120W fast charging support. For selfies, it will feature a 20-megapixel front-facing camera. The phone will come preloaded with MIUI 13 based Android 12 OS. It is expected to be released with the Xiaomi 12T Pro moniker in the global market.

The Redmi K50 Extreme Edition is said to be the Redmi device with model number 22081212C, which has appeared in the databases of CMIIT, 3C, TENAA, and AnTuTu in recent days. It will be the first Redmi phone powered by the Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 chipset. Previously, the device was called by other names, like the Redmi K50s Pro or the Redmi K50 Ultra.

The Redmi K30 Ultra was advertised as the Redmi K30S Commemorative Edition in 2020. Hence, it is likely that the K50 Extreme Edition could be called the Redmi K50 Ultra. On AnTuTu, the device was spotted with an impressive benchmarking score of 1,120,691.

Rumors surrounding the device have claimed that it may house a 6.7-inch AMOLED display with a centrally positioned punch-hole. It may deliver an FHD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. It will be offered in 8 GB RAM + 128 GB storage and 12 GB RAM + 256 GB storage configurations. The phone could get its power from a 5,000mAh battery, which may support 120W fast charging.

The smartphone will boot into the MIUI 13-based Android 12 operating system. For selfies, it will have a 20-megapixel front camera. The rear camera setup of the device will feature a 200-megapixel main camera, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide lens, and a 2-megapixel macro camera.

Redmi is reportedly working on the launch of the Redmi K50s and K50s Pro flagship phones. These devices are expected to launch this month in China. Some reports have claimed that the Pro model could be called the Redmi K50 Ultra. The K50s Pro / K50 Ultra with a 22081212C model number was seen on CMIIT, 3C, and TENAA certification platforms in the previous month. Now, the same device has appeared on AnTuTu benchmarks with a 1,120,691 score.

The Redmi K50s Pro scored 261,363 in the CPU test, 489,064 in the GPU test, 193,133 points in the memory test, and 177,131 points in the UX test. Hence, the device has managed to achieve a total score of 1,120,691 points on the benchmarking platform.

The listing reveals that the device is powered by the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset and runs on the Android 12 OS. Being a flagship device, it is expected to feature LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 storage.

Redmi K50s Pro specifications (rumored)

The Redmi K50s Pro will feature a 6.7-inch AMOLED display with a punch-hole design. It offers an FHD+ resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, and HDR10+ support. It will also feature an in-screen fingerprint scanner. The K50s Pro will feature the SD8+G1 chip.

As per the TENAA listing, the device will come in two variants, such as 8 GB RAM + 128 GB storage and 12 GB RAM + 256 GB storage. It is likely to house a 5,000mAh battery, which will carry support for 120W fast charging.

The K50s Pro will have a 20-megapixel selfie camera. Its rear panel will have a 200-megapixel primary camera, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide lens, and a 2-megapixel macro camera. It will come with MIUI 13 based on the Android 12 OS.

Earlier this year, Redmi debuted its Redmi K50 series in China. The series consists of the Redmi K50G which comes powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip, the Redmi K50 Pro, and the vanilla K50. Now, it appears that the brand is getting ready to add another device to this lineup as a recent report suggested that a more powerful Redmi flagship is in the works.

The device dubbed the Redmi K50 Ultra was previously tipped to work on Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 platform, which is much more efficient while being more powerful thanks to TSMC’s 4nm node. Now, a new report by Weibo tipster Digital Chat Station has revealed that the smartphone will feature a Full HD+ OLED display paired with 120Hz and DC dimming. It will be a flat screen with narrow bezels going around it, and the display will feature a single punch hole in the top center.

Other than that, the Redmi K50 Ultra is said to come with a 50-megapixel primary camera, which will likely be a better sensor than the 108-megapixel Samsung ISOCELL HM2 sensor featured in the Redmi K50 Pro. The device will draw juice from a large 4800-5000mAh battery with support for 120W fast charging.

Redmi is scheduled to announce its highly anticipated Redmi K50 series this Thursday, March 17 in China. Earlier this week, the company had revealed the stunning design of one of its Redmi K50 series devices with a redesigned camera island and in a matte black design, which the company calls “Feather Black”.

However, smartphones normally don’t come with only one colour option, and there are more colour options to be announced at the launch event. However, new information leaked online seems to indicate that the Redmi K50 will be coming in 4 colours in total: Black, Blue, Gold and White.

The news comes from tech enthusiast, Mayank Kumar on Twitter, which had revealed the 3 upcoming colour options via a Tweet. 

The Redmi K50 series in Gold is a refreshing look in the Android space as very few 2022 Android flagships are sporting a rich gold colourway. The only other device that comes to mind is the Golden Huawei P50 Series which was launched last year.

The Redmi K50 series in Blue looks similar to the Matte Light Blue of its more expensive cousin, the Xiaomi 12.

The Redmi K50 series in White shares a resemblance with last year’s Redmi K40/Poco F3/Mi 11X series with the Arctic White matte finish. 

However, do take the leaks of the other 3 colours with a grain of salt as these leaked renders share an uncanny likeness to the official reveal of the Feather Black colourway of the Redmi K50 by Redmi themselves.

Looks are not the only deciding factor when buying a smartphone, and Redmi knows that dearly as the company is speccing out the Redmi K50 with industry-leading performance with its MediaTek Dimensity 8100 and 9000 processors under the hood. 

Official Antutu Benchmarks have already shown that one of the unannounced Redmi K50 series devices equipped with the Dimensity 9000 has officially crossed the 1 million score threshold, beating out the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 and Exynos 2200.
