Xiaomi launched the Redmi K60 series comprising the regular, Pro and K60E variants in China last month. The K60 and K60 Pro went on sale in the country yesterday. Today, the Xiaomi sub-brand announced the success of the first flash sale of the smartphones. The company revealed on the microblogging platform Weibo that it has sold the first batch of 3,00,000 units of the Redmi K60 phones in 5 minutes.

The sales numbers sound impressive considering that 3,00,000 units were sold in 5 minutes. This means that 100 units were purchased every second or 60,000 units were purchased every minute. Unfortunately, despite the success of the first sale, the Redmi K60 series still falls short of the sales record of its predecessor. The Redmi K50 comprising of two devices sold 3,30,000 units in the first day. This is a 10 percent decline in the first flash sale.

The Xiaomi sub-brand said that users loved new features like a 1220p screen, wireless charging, and Snapdragon 8 processors. It remains to be seen if the overall sales of the Redmi K60 series will surpass the Redmi K50 series.

As for core specifications, the Redmi K60 series feature a 6.67-inch OLED display bearing a 2K resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. The regular, Pro, and K60E come with 60MP, 50MP, and 48MP main sensors paired with an 8MP ultra-wide-angle lens, and a 2MP depth snapper. Internally, the K60 and K60 Pro are powered by Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 and Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processors respectively whereas the K60E is equipped with Dimensity 8200 SoC. All three devices pack up to 16GB LPDDR5 RAM and up to 512GB storage. The Pro model is backed by a 5,000mAh battery with support for 120W wired charging whereas the regular and K60E is fuelled by a 5,500mAh cell with 67W charging.

Redmi has finally launched the new Redmi K60 series in China. The new lineup includes the Redmi K60, Redmi K60 Pro, and Redmi K60E. In this post, we’ll stick to the standard and the pro model. Redmi K60 retail box images appear online as it allegedly enters mass production

It is no secret that Redmi is working on its next generation of high-performance devices known as the Redmi K60 series. So far, leaks and certifications have revealed that the series will have three models – Redmi K60, Redmi K60 Pro, and Redmi K60E.

Now, leaked images (via DCS) of the Redmi K60’s box have appeared online, indicating that the device is being mass-produced and the brand is stocking up ahead of the launch. Earlier, the Redmi K60 series was expected to debut by the end of the year; however, due to Xiaomi postponing the launch of the Xiaomi 13 series, the launch timeline of the Redmi K60 series has also been moved to early January.

Xiaomiui has uncovered the internal MIUI builds for the Redmi K60 series, with V14.0.2.0.TMNCNXM, V14.0.0.4.TMKCNXM, and V13.0.1.0.SMMCNXM representing the K60, K60 Pro, and K60E, respectively. It reveals that the Redmi K60 and K60 Pro will debut with MIUI 14, while the K60E will launch with MIUI 13. Xiaomi is expected to officially launch MIUI 14 at the Xiaomi 13 launch event.

The K60E has a Snapdragon 870 or Dimensity 8200 chip, according to previous leaks, whilst the K60 and K60 Pro have Snapdragon 8+ gen 1 and Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chips, respectively. The Redmi K60, according to reports, will have a 6.67-inch AMOLED 120Hz display. It could have a 5,500mAh battery with 67W fast charging. Reports suggest the company is working on the upcoming Redmi K60 series, which is expected to include at least three smartphones. Today, the vanilla Redmi K60 has received China’s 3C certification, hinting at an imminent launch. Let’s look at the details.

As initially spotted by Anvin (Twitter: @ZionsAnvin), a Redmi smartphone bearing the model number 23013RK75C has surfaced on China’s 3C certification site. This handset is believed to be the vanilla Redmi K60. The listing further suggests that this alleged handset will come with 67W fast charging support.

It is reported that the Redmi K60 series will include at least three models, such as the Redmi K60, K60 Pro, and K60 Gaming. The vanilla Redmi K60 may be powered by a Dimensity 8200 processor.

The handset is rumored to have a Sony IMX686 64-megapixel main camera and a flat AMOLED display with a punch-hole design. It may pack a 5,500mAh battery and support 67W fast charging.

On the other hand, the K60 Pro will likely feature a better chipset, an improved camera setup, and particularly fast charging technology. Whereas the K60 gaming could have an AMOLED panel offering a 2K resolution.

It seems that Redmi is finally done with the Redmi K50 series after the launch of the Redmi K50 Ultra last in August. The company has reportedly started working on the next generation of flagships called the Redmi K60 series.

And now, a new report from popular tipster DCS (via ITHome) has revealed the fast-charging capabilities of a device in the series. According to DCS, the phone will have two charging variants – 67W wired + 30W wireless, and an upgraded version of 120W wired + 30W wireless. It is not the first time that a company will launch a smartphone in two different fast-charging variants. Although it is the first time that a Redmi smartphone will offer support for fast charging, We can expect the 67W variant to have a larger battery compared to the 120W variant.

Previous leaks have mentioned that the series will feature phones with the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 and the upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipsets. The highest-end offering in the lineup will debut with a 2K display panel. It is also rumored to have a 50MP main camera sensor that is a modified version of the Sony IMX766 sensor. The series could also include an under-display fingerprint sensor as well as some impressive fast-charging technology.

With the launch of the iPhone 14 series, Apple finally brought a major change in design for its Pro series models with the new Dynamic Island notification system. But it appears that other smartphone brands might be quick to adopt a similar feature, and Redmi could be one of the first.

For those unaware, Apple’s iPhone 14 Pro series features a cutout for its Face ID tech and selfie camera. However, this also serves an additional purpose as it enables the Dynamic Island, which is also optimized to work with various apps for notifications and other input functionalities. Now, it seems like developers for Xiaomi’s MIUI are already working on introducing such a feature for the upcoming Redmi K60.

Notably, the hint arrives following a question asked by Xiaomi President Lu Weibing who said that if we “really need a Smart Island” feature on Weibo (a Chinese microblogging website). On the social media platform, a number of users responded positively for the implementation of the Dynamic Island like feature. Meanwhile, MIUI developers have already started working on such a new notification system that will allow for music controls and other notifications.

In other words, we can also safely assume that other developers for the platform could also begin work on such a feature as well. Although, keep in mind that this is still an unconfirmed report and the Redmi K60 is not officially stated to feature a Dynamic Island like notification system. As per the tipster, the series will adopt the Dimensity/Snapdragon dual platform strategy and will be launched in two chipset variants. The tipster claims that both the chipsets will be based on TSMC’s 4nm process. This means it will likely come equipped with Qualcomm’s top-notch Snapdragon 8+ Gen1 Soc and MediaTek’s Dimensity 9000+ Soc.
