Redmi has officially launched its flagship smartphone, the Redmi K80 Pro, in the Chinese market, alongside the Redmi K80 and the Redmi K80 Pro Champion Edition. Let’s check out the pricing and specifications of the Pro model and its Special Edition.

Redmi K80 Pro Specifications

The Redmi K80 Pro features a 6.67-inch TCL M9 OLED 2K flat panel, offering exceptional clarity and brightness. The display supports a 3200×1440 resolution, 120Hz refresh rate (LTPS), 12-bit color depth, and a peak brightness of 3200 nits. It also incorporates Xiaomi’s Qingshan Eye Care 2.0 technology, offering full-brightness DC dimming to reduce eye strain and flicker.

The device features a dual-finish glass unibody design with ultra-narrow 1.9mm bezels, making it 21% thinner than its predecessor. It comes with Xiaomi Dragon Crystal Glass 2.0, offering 20x improved durability.

Under the hood, the device is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, built on a 3nm process, offering a 45% CPU and 44% GPU performance boost over its predecessor with improved power efficiency. It features a dedicated D1 gaming chip, LPDDR5X memory, UFS 4.0 storage, and Rage Engine 4.0 for dynamic frequency scaling. It supports ultra-resolution and ultra-frame gaming with upgraded dual-loop 3D ice-sealed cooling, ensuring smooth and consistent performance during intensive gameplay.

The device runs on Xiaomi’s HyperOS 2, which integrates the Hyper Core Kernel for enhanced performance, faster app launches, and reduced latency.

The Redmi K80 Pro features a versatile triple-camera setup, led by a 50MP primary sensor (Light Fusion 800) with OIS stabilization and a cinematic dynamic range of 13.2EV for vibrant and detailed shots. It comes with a 32MP ultra-wide camera (Samsung S5KKD1) offering a 120° field of view.

It also sports a 50MP floating telephoto lens (Samsung S5KJN5), supporting 2.5x optical zoom, 5x lossless zoom, 20x digital zoom, and macro mode for intricate close-ups. For selfies and video calls, it equips a 20MP front camera (Omnivision OV20B40), ensuring crisp and clear results.

The K80 Pro is powered by a 6000mAh battery, complemented by 120W wired fast charging and 50W wireless charging. It also sports Xiaomi’s Surge G3 fast-charging chip and equips the Surge G1 battery management system, ensuring safety and efficient performance.

The phone introduces an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, a first for the Redmi lineup, delivering enhanced accuracy and reliability. Redmi K80 Pro Champion Edition

Redmi has also launched the Redmi K80 Pro Champion Edition at the event. It features a design inspired by the Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO2, with Lamborghini branding and Y-shaped lines on the rear panel, reflecting its racing DNA. It comes with 16GB+1TB storage and equips customized accessories, including a charger, data cable, shield-shaped SIM ejector tool, protective case, and user manual. The phone also features custom themes and wallpapers to enhance its premium and exclusive appeal.

Redmi K80 Pro Champion Edition comes in exclusive dark grey and green color options and is priced at 4,999 yuan ($691).

The Redmi K80 series is expected to launch in China as soon as November. Today Weibo tipster Smart Pikachu revealed that the entire Redmi K80 series is being tested with a 2K display.

The Redmi K70 also came with a 2K (1440 x 3200) display with 4000 nits peak brightness, HDR10+ and Dolby Vision support for vibrant colors, and TUV Rheinland support for eye protection. According to the tipster, the K80 series’ display will be slightly curved similar to the mid-range Redmi Note series.

Redmi K80 series will also offer a premium Champion Edition

He also notes that the K80 series will include a co-branded model like the past. For example, the Redmi K70 Pro Champion Edition was a collaboration between Redmi and Lamborghini. So, the reported co-branded model in the Redmi K80 series could also be a Champion Edition built in collaboration with Lamborghini.

To give you an idea of what to expect, last year’s Redmi K70 Pro Champion was priced around $1200 and offered a different design than the Pro model.

According to previous rumors, the Redmi K80 series will include the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chipset. The K80 Pro will equip the upcoming Snapdragon flagship while the base model will be powered by the currently available Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC. The phone will boast a 5500 mAh battery and support 120W fast charging.

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 will be released at the Snapdragon Technology Summit 2024 in October. The upcoming flagship chipset is fabricated on TSMC’s second-generation 3nm process. Unlike the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, the 8 Gen 4 has adopted Qualcomm’s self-developed Nuvia Phoenix architecture. Compared with the ARM architecture, the Nuvia Phoenix architecture has a higher advantage in performance. This is also going to be the company’s first fully self-developed 5G SoC.
