The Redmi Note 11T 5G was launched late last month in India as the successor to the Redmi Note 10T 5G, which debuted earlier this year as the first 5G-enabled Redmi Note series phone. It will be going on sale on 7th December for the first time through Amazon and Mi.com, starting at a price of ₹15,999.

But of course, the Redmi Note 11T 5G isn’t the only phone you can grab at this price range, so we’ll be pitching it up here against other offerings in the segment – the realme 8 and Redmi Note 10 Pro – to see if it’s worth your money.

Redmi Note 11T 5G specs overview

Let’s start off by taking a quick look at the specifications of the Redmi Note 11T 5G alone. The device has an FHD+ 6.6-inch IPS LCD display with a 90Hz adaptive refresh rate, 240Hz touch sampling rate, and Gorilla Glass protection. It is equipped with the MediaTek Dimensity 810 5G chipset – a decent processor capable of handling much more over your day-to-day tasks – that’s paired with up to 8GB of LPDDR4x RAM and 128GB of UFS 2.2 storage.

For photography, the Redmi Note 11T 5G has a dual-camera setup at the rear comprised of a 50-megapixel primary and an 8-megapixel ultrawide lens. Upfront, there’s a 16-megapixel camera for selfies and video calls. All of the device’s components get their juice from a 5,000mAh battery that supports 33W fast charging. Other non-essential but good-to-have stuff includes an IR blaster and an X-axis linear motor.

Redmi Note 11T 5G vs realme 8 5G

When put up against the realme 8 5G that starts at ₹15,499, the Redmi Note 11T 5G is a clear winner. It’s got a newer 50MP camera sensor that should result in better images, a noticeably more powerful processor (Dimensity 810 vs 700), stereo speakers, and much faster charging (33W vs 18W). There’s even an IP53 water resistance rating.

However, realme users continue to swear by realme UI, which is arguably less buggy and more fluid compared to Xiaomi’s MIUI. The realme 8 currently runs realme UI 2.0 while the Note 11T 5G runs MIUI 12.5, both based on Android 11. Other than this, the realme 8 5G is slimmer (8.5mm vs 8.8mm) and lighter, so that’s another plus.

Redmi Note 11T 5G vs Redmi Note 10 Pro

When put up against Redmi’s own Redmi Note 10 Pro, however, it becomes a tougher call. Both phones may sport processors that are nearly alike in terms of performance, but the Redmi Note 10 Pro misses out completely on 5G, which can be a dealbreaker for some.

The gaping hole that the lack of 5G leaves is filled in by other stuff, though. The Redmi Note 10 Pro features a much more premium design with Gorilla Glass 5 on both front and back. This is paired with a beautiful 120Hz 6.67-inch AMOLED with support HDR10+, something the Redmi Note 11T lacks. The phone’s even got a more pixel-dense 64MP shooter.

But the better specs do come at a cost – the Redmi Note 10 Pro is priced ₹2,000 higher at ₹17,999.

Conclusion

In conclusion, it all comes down to preference. The Redmi Note 11T 5G is clearly a better buy over the realme 8 judging from raw specs alone. But if you prefer a smoother software experience, the latter would be more preferable.

On the other hand, the Redmi Note 10 Pro is better in quite a few departments over the Redmi Note 11T 5G, but lacks 5G and costs more. If 5G is more important than raw specs to you, then the Redmi Note 11T will surely be a better buy over the Redmi Note 10 Pro.

Redmi Note 11T 5G specifications and features

The Redmi Note 11T 5G has a 6.6-inch IPS LCD punch-hole screen that offers a Full HD+ resolution, a 90Hz adaptive refresh rate, a 240Hz touch sampling rate, and Gorilla Glass protection. Xiaomi is not offering those rubbish 2-megapixel depth/macro cameras on the Note 11T 5G.

The device ships with 4 GB / 6 GB / 8 GB of LPDDR4x RAM and 64 GB / 128 GB of UFS 2.2 storage. It comes pre-installed with MIUI 12.5 and Android 11. For a smoother experience, while launching apps, the device comes with support for up to 3 GB of extended RAM.

The Note 11T has a 5,000mAh battery that supports 33W fast charging (in-box charger) through USB-C. For audiophiles, it offers dual stereo speakers and a 3.5mm audio jack. The other features that are packed inside the Note 11T include dual SIM support,5G, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.1, GPS, IR blaster, X-axis linear motor, and a side-facing fingerprint scanner.

The Redmi Note 11T 5G is already available in China with the Redmi Note 11 5G moniker. A rebranded version of the same device is available in global markets with the POCO M4 Pro 5G moniker. While the POCO phone has the same specs, it offers a refreshed rear design.

The Note 10T 5G was a rebranded version of the version of China’s Redmi Note 10 5G. Reports have revealed that the upcoming Note 11T 5G will be a rebadged edition of the Redmi Note 11 5G, which debuted in China in October.

Design & Display

The Redmi Note 11T 5G is expected to look identical to the Chinese Redmi Note 11 5G. It may feature a centrally aligned punch-hole display with a slightly thick chin on the front. It is expected to feature a polycarbonate back featuring a triple camera unit at the upper-left corner. The thickness of the device could be around 8.8mm and it weighs around 195 grams.

The Note 11T is likely to feature a 6.6-inch FHD+ LCD panel. It is expected to offer an adaptive refresh rate of up to 90Hz, a 240Hz touch sampling rate, and a 1500:1 contrast ratio. The Note 11T is expected to feature a side-facing fingerprint scanner.

The Note 11T 5G device is expected to arrive with up to 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage. The company has confirmed that the Note 11T will come with a virtual RAM feature. It is unclear whether the handset features a microSD card.

The device will come preinstalled with Android 11, which will be overlaid with MIUI 12.5 UI. The handset will be backed by a 5,000mAh battery that will carry support for 33W rapid charging.

Variants and price

Reports have claimed the Redmi Note 11T 5G will be arriving in India in three variant such as 6 GB RAM + 64 GB storage, 6 GB RAM + 128 GB storage, and 8 GB RAM + 128 GB storage. The official pricing of these phones is under the wraps. It is speculated that the topmost variant of the Note 11T 5G may carry a sub Rs 20,000 pricing in the country.

In China, the 6 GB RAM + 128 GB storage and 8 GB RAM + 128 GB storage editions of the Redmi Note 11 5G are priced at 1,299 Yuan (~Rs 15,290; ~$203) and 1,499 Yuan (~Rs 17,640; ~$235). The Redmi Note 11T is confirmed to carry support for 33W fast charging. This is a major upgrade considering that the predecessor Redmi Note 10T 5G only supported 18W charging.

Jain claimed that the Note 11T will be the first-ever Redmi phone with a 6nm chipset. Considering that the Redmi Note 11T could be a rebranded version of China’s Redmi Note 11 5G, it is likely to feature the 6nm Dimensity 810 chip. This chip will allow the Note 11T to rival with the Realme 8s, which features the same chipset.

Xiaomi subsidiary, Redmi India, has just announced that it has partnered up with Reliance Jio to conduct 5G trails for the upcoming Note 11T 5G smartphone. The company is testing the capabilities and performance of its 5G enabled handset in the Indian market.

As per the announcement, the test would have both brands conduct a 5G standalone lab trial, which would have the Note 11T 5G go though various scenarios to ensure it offers users an “enhanced” 5G experience. For those unaware, the upcoming Note 11T 5G is the company’s latest offering in the Indian market that will arrive with support for 7 bands including SA (n1/ n3/ n5/n8/ n28/ n40/ n78) and NSA (n1/n3/n40/n78).

For those unaware, plans for the 5G auction in India has been delayed for another six months. This arrives as brands like Jio, Airtel, and Vodafone Idea to get an extension for their trials. Xiaomi’s sub-brand Redmi will be announcing the Redmi Note 11T 5G on Nov. 30 in India. According to well-known tipster Mukul Sharma, several other Xiaomi and Redmi devices will also debut soon in the Indian market. Here are some of the expected products that are expected to arrive in the country.

The Redmi Smart Band Pro, which is an updated version of the last year’s Redmi Smart Band is likely to launch soon in India. In fact, it is being speculated that it may go official alongside the Redmi Note 11T 5G on Nov. 30. Xiaomi recently unveiled the Redmi Watch 2 Lite in global markets. Probably, this smartwatch may also debut in the country before the end of this year.

It is unclear which other Redmi devices will be launching this year. The Redmi Note 11 series, which is expected to arrive with a refreshed design and different chipset as compared to its Chinese edition, may not launch this year.

Xiaomi India is expected to announce the Xiaomi 11T and 11T Pro flagship phones in India soon. A recent report claimed that the Pro model will debut this month in India. Ishan Agrawal (via 91mobiles) has also confirmed some key specifications of the Redmi Note 10T 5G successor, and the phone appears more or less identical to the Redmi Note 11.

The Redmi Note 11T 5G will be powered by the Dimensity 810 chip from MediaTek. This octa-core processor is clocked at a max of 2.4GHz and has been fabricated using the 6nm process. The chip will be paired with up to 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 128GB of UFS 2.2 storage. The device will be available in multiple configurations, namely 6GB+64GB, 6GB+128GB, and 8GB+128GB.

As for the display, the Redmi Note 11T 5G will sport a 6.6-inch FHD+ panel with 2400×1080 resolution, 90Hz refresh rate, and 240Hz touch sampling rate. The camera setup of the device at the rear comprises a 50MP at f/1.8 aperture paired with an 8MP ultra-wide camera. Upfront, there’s a 16MP sensor. All of it is powered by a large 5,000mAh battery with 33W charging support.

There hasn’t been any indication as to what to expect with regards to the price but it’s reasonable to assume it will be in line with the Redmi Note 10T 5G’s price tag. As for color options, the Redmi Note 11T 5G will come in three color options – Matte Black, Stardust White, and Aquamarine Blue.

A few days back, we learned that the Redmi Note 11 Pro models will come to India under Xiaomi branding. Today, the same source reveals that the vanilla Redmi Note 11 will retain the Redmi branding for Xiaomi’s largest market outside its home country.

According to reliable MIUI tipster Kacper Skrzypek (@kacskrz), Xiaomi might launch the Chinese Redmi Note 11 in India as Redmi Note 11T 5G. Since this piece of information comes from MIUI code, it will be most likely true.

The strings shared by the leaker reveal that the Redmi Note 11 is codenamed evergo, while the yet-to-release POCO M4 Pro 5G bears codename evergreen. We learned about these devices back in August. On the other hand, the Redmi Note 10T 5G, which is expected to debut in India is codenamed evergoin.

As mentioned in the beginning, the Redmi Note 10 Pro and the Redmi Note 10 Pro+ are also anticipated to go official in India. These phones will be called Xiaomi 11i and Xiaomi 11i HyperCharge in the country.

This suggests that India may get different Redmi Note 11 Pro handsets. Unfortunately, no information is available regarding these devices. But we expect to learn about them in the coming days.

At present, it’s not known when the three Redmi Note 11 smartphones from China will make their way to India.
