The Redmi Turbo 3 is the first smartphone under the brand’s new Turbo series. But this lineup has already existed for two years under the Redmi Note series.

The first-gen model was called the Redmi Note 11T Pro. It was followed by the Redmi Note 12 Turbo.

These two were the most powerful devices in their generations. Their legacy continues with the latest Redmi Turbo 3.

Additionally, the newest model is different from its predecessors in many ways. It brings upgrades in several categories. Let’s check out how it differs from its forerunners.

Redmi Turbo 3 compared with Redmi Note 12 Turbo and Redmi Note 11T Pro

Different Design

The Redmi Note 11T Pro and Redmi Note 12 Turbo resembles Redmi Note 11 Pro Plus and Redmi Note 12 Pro Plus, respectively. While the Redmi Turbo 3 looks distinct despite sharing a few design elements with the Redmi Note 13 Pro Plus.

The Redmi Turbo 3 is the slimmest and lightest of all three phones at 7.8mm and 179g, respectively. Also, the fingerprint sensor now resides underneath the display instead of on the power key.

It lacks a 3.5mm headphone jack, unlike its predecessors. Finally, it also comes in a Harry Potter Edition like the Redmi Note 12 Turbo

More Powerful Chip

The Redmi Turbo 3 is the most powerful smartphone in the lineup so far. It houses the recently unveiled Qualcomm Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 SoC paired with LPDDR5x RAM and UFS 4.0 storage.

The aforementioned silicon is supported by a 4800mm2 cooling system. It helps in maintaining thermals.

Whereas last year’s Redmi Note 12 Turbo features a Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Plus Gen 2 chip, LPDDR5 RAM, and UFS 3.1 storage. Finally, the older Redmi Note 11T Pro has the same type of RAM and storage but a less powerful MediaTek Dimensity 8100 SoC.

Better Display and Faster Charging

The Redmi Turbo 3 flaunts a 6.67-inch centered punch-hole OLED display as the Redmi Note 12 Turbo. But this new panel offers a higher resolution and brighter peak brightness level.

The screen on the latest phone arrives with a resolution of 2712 x 1220 pixels (1.5K) and a 2400 nits peak brightness level. Whereas the last-gen model is limited to 2400 x 1080 pixels (FHD+) and 1000 nits.

The Redmi Note 11T Pro is different from the two as it has an LCD panel. This display offers a 144Hz refresh rate and an FHD+ resolution (2460 x 1080 pixels).

Finally, the Redmi Turbo 3 supports 90W wired charging as opposed to 67W wired charging on the other two.

HyperOS and AI Features

The Redmi Turbo 3 is the first in the series to ship with HyperOS out of the box. It also arrives with several AI features, such as air gestures, intelligent noise suppression, magic elimination pro, and more.

On the other hand, the Redmi Note 12 Turbo recently received the HyperOS update. However, it does not offer AI features.

Lastly, the Redmi Note 11T Pro is eligible for HyperOS update and is expected to receive it shortly.

The Redmi Note 12 Turbo was released almost a year ago in China. The device goes by Poco F5 in global markets.

It continues to be one of the most powerful mid-range smartphones on the market. Before it hits a year old, Xiaomi is rolling out the first major software update for this handset.

The Redmi Note 12 Turbo is now receiving HyperOS update based on Android 14 in China. For the unaware, the device debuted with MIUI 14 based on Android 13.

The new software is currently limited to beta testers. It arrives with build number 1.0.2.0.UMRCNXM and weighs 5.5GB.

The same build should roll out to all users in the coming days if there are no major bugs. Else, the company might seed a new build with fixes. We expect the Poco F5 to also get the HyperOS update soon.

The main highlight of the Redmi Note 12 Turbo is its chipset — Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Plus Gen 2. It is the only phone other than Realme GT Neo 5 SE to use this chip. This SoC is paired with LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 storage.

The handset flaunts a 6.67-inch centered punch-hole OLED display with a resolution of 2400 x 1080 pixels (FHD+) and a 120Hz refresh rate. The panel has minimal bezels and supports Dolby Vision.

The smartphone arrives with a triple camera system comprising a 64MP primary sensor, an 8MP ultrawide unit, and a 2MP macro snapper. On the front, it has a 16MP selfie camera.

The phone not only comes with dual stereo speakers but also a 3.5mm headphone jack. Finally, it draws energy from a 5,000mAh battery and supports 67W wired charging.

AnTuTu has just revealed its top-performing flagship smartphones of August 2023 with the OnePlus Ace 2 Pro topping the list. We now bring you the top 10 best-performing mid-range smartphones of August according to AnTuTu.

Despite it being August, the Redmi Note 12 Turbo, which was introduced in March, continues to lead the mid-range AnTuTu performance rankings. It has achieved an impressive score of 1,148,376 points, just slightly ahead of the Realme GT Neo 5 SE, which sits in second place with 1,146,607 points. Notably, both of these smartphones are equipped with the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 SoC, making them the sole devices on the list featuring this processor.

Considering that these devices cross the 1 million point mark with starting prices around $250 (Note 12 Turbo) and $290 (GT Neo 5 SE), it makes customers hopeful about the future of the mid-range. Outside of China, Xiaomi sells the Redmi 12 Turbo as the Poco F5.

The third place goes to the iQOO Neo 7 SE equipped with the Dimensity 8200 chipset. It scores 949742 points, edging out the Vivo S17 Pro which is in fourth place with 944329 points. Other places in the list belong to devices like the Oppo Reno 10 Pro, Redmi Note 12T Pro, Redmi K60E, Xiaomi Civi 3, OnePlus Ace Racing, and OnePlus Ace. All of these devices are powered by the Dimensity 8200 and 8100 series chipsets.

At the moment, it appears that smartphones featuring the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 chipset hold a significant advantage over their mid-range counterparts utilizing MediaTek’s Dimensity processors. Nevertheless, there are speculations suggesting that MediaTek is in the process of developing the Dimensity 8300 chipset, which is said to incorporate a fresh Mali G52 MC6 GPU. It remains to be seen how the performance of this new chip will compare to the reigning mid-range leader, and we eagerly await the results.

Xiaomi‘s independent Redmi brand earlier in March this year added the Redmi Note 12 Turbo to the Redmi Note 12 series lineup. The premium midrange model arrived in 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB storage options. The Chinese tech giant has now announced a much more affordable option – a 128GB storage version of the Note 12 Turbo.

The new Redmi Note 12 Turbo version comes with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage and is priced at 1799 yuan ($251) making it the cheapest model available to interested buyers. Unfortunately, the new storage option is only available to Xiaomi fans in China and there is no word yet as to when it will ship to the global market.

As a reminder, the Redmi Note 12 Turbo boasts a 6.67-inch OLED screen with an FHD+ resolution. The display outputs a peak brightness of 1,000 nits, a wide 100 percent DCI-P3 color gamut, a smooth 120Hz refresh rate, and brings support for Dolby Vision and HDR10+. With its center-aligned punch-hole cutout, slimmer bezels, and an impressive 93.45 percent screen-to-body ratio, the device offers an immersive viewing experience.

The Note 12 Turbo is powered by a Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 processor. It comes equipped with up to 16GB of LPDDR5x RAM and 1TB of UFS 3.1 storage, ensuring smooth multitasking and ample storage capacity. This is probably the most fantasy co-branding phone we’ve bought. So this is the world’s first Harry Potter branded phone, the Redmi Note 12 Turbo Harry Potter edition; and we also got the Harry Potter special edition of the Redmi Buds 4. This is by far the most sincere co-branding series coming from Redmi. According to some sort of rumors, the custom series was born thanks to Xiaomi’s recruitment of the former OPPO product manager who is in charge of co-branding products. So the customization is pretty close to what we saw on OPPO Reno 6 Pro+ Detective Conan Edition and the Reno Ace Gondam edition. So now let’s check out what’s inside the wizarding world presented by Redmi.

Redmi Note 12 Turbo Harry Potter Special Edition

They did work hard on the customization from the outside to the inside. The whole packaging is really impressive at first glance. It looks like a wizarding book, or simply a non-magic book that must be inspired by another book mentioned in the Harry Potter story, called Hogwarts: A History. There’s the emblem with 4 houses’ symbol at the center and the back. Under the school’s emblem, you can see the familiar motto: Draco Dormiens Nunquam Titillandus, which, translated from Latin, means “Never tickle a sleeping dragon”. And of course, we are buying a phone, so you can see the Redmi Note 12 Turbo texture down below the emblem.

There is a lightning-bolt symbol on the red magnetic buckle, which should be the symbolic scar on Harry’s forehead. We all know that the scar is both a bane and a blessing left by the killing curse.

Open the box, there’s more detail revealed here, filled with a lot of spells with their hand movements. The Mirror of Erised is in the middle, which got cut out for showing the Redmi phone. So does it mean that the deepest, most desperate desire of our hearts is… Redmi? Well then, good job Redmi.

That’s a card pin made in the shape of the sign of platform 9 and three-quarters! It’s pretty well-made. On the back of the cover, there’s an envelope sent by Hogwarts.

I believe that every Harry Potter fan has a dream of becoming a wizard in their childhood, but on their 12^th birthday, most of them have not received a letter of admission, and that kind of shattered the fantasy. Well, I’m no exception. But now you got another chance to make it come true in another way, which is to take that acceptance letter included in this customized phone kit.

Unfortunately, the recipient is still Harry Potter. It would have been perfect if there were a specific user’s name, which could also be great for their network marketing. Anyway, it’s still worth boasting that the envelope and letter are exactly the same as the one Harry received in the movie.

Remove the panel with the mirror, now we can see the phone. The overall color is still dark red, with multiple patterns that Awaken our memories of Harry Potter, such as the Hedwig, a golden snitch in quidditch games, the sorting hat, the goblet of fire, and so on.

Take out the phone here. The biggest difference between the Harry Potter edition and the regular variant is on the back, which also features the Hogwarts school crest as the main element, while it’s also silk-screened with Harry Potter’s glasses, Quidditch, deer, and other classic elements from the movie.

If look closely at the camera module, you will find other glasses hidden here, which is quite a smart design. That’s very close to my imagination about a Harry Potter phone. Under the phone, there is a regular 67W charging suit in the lightning-bolt case, which is exactly the same as the regular variant. It would be nice if it was also redesigned.

Pull out the box at the bottom. There are quite a few stickers inside and a customized phone case with half of the Hogwarts crest and a cutout for showing the left half of the phone’s back. Put it on the phone and it looks surprisingly good. The leather-like surface also makes it feels great as well in my hands.

And there’s a unique user manual designed in a form of the Marauder’s Map, telling some basic info about the phone and Xiaomi’s service.

So that’s all you got inside the special kit. I pretty much enjoyed the whole unboxing, as a lot of classic moments of the series came into my mind. It’s like over ten years. At that time I never thought I would have a phone that was so relevant to the story.

And it was a bit disappointing when I got into the software. It gave me a little surprise when boost up the phone. A golden snitch flies across the display and lit up the phone, which has a Harry Potter theme ready. And that’s probably all about the customized software features. Neither icons nor animations got redesigned.

Redmi Buds 4 Harry Potter Special Edition Unboxing

Okay let’s do a quick unboxing of the Redmi Buds 4 Harry Potter edition. The packaging cube also has pretty decent patterns about Hogwarts School, and there’s a golden snitch on both sides.

Open it and another lightning-bolt scar appears. There is a blue-gray cable with a black sling. Take out the charging case, which is also mainly in blue-gray color with a matt finish. The logo of Harry Potter and Redmi are in a golden color. On the opposite side, another Hogwarts logo is lying there.

It’s kind of stylish, while the shape is a bit like the Redmi Buds 3 Pro. There is a golden lightning-bolt symbol on the top of each bud, which is kind of special but doesn’t really impress me.

Put the case with earbuds aside and here comes the real bragging point, Redmi offers a small unique bag for storing the charging case, which is made in leather-like material with many Harry Potter patterns. And you can see the golden snitch on the front, which make it look very wizarding-styled at first glance.

The Tianma-made display used in the Redmi Note 12 Turbo comes with top-notch specs. According to Redmi, this screen has a resolution of 2400×1080, a peak brightness of 1000nit, and support for 12-bit color depth. The panel can display 68.7 billion colors and adopts a windmill-shaped pixel array layout, which is claimed to be more energy efficient.

The display on the Redmi Note 12 Turbo boasts several impressive features, including SGS low blue light certification, support for 1920Hz high-frequency PWM dimming, and dual-mode eye protection (conventional and paper) for an effective eye-protection experience.

In addition, the display features a flagship four-narrow-edge design without a screen bracket, with the left and right bezels measuring just 1.42mm and the top bezel measuring 1.95mm. The compact design of the bottom of the screen, combined with a reduction in the bending radius and strengthened process control, enables an ultra-narrow bottom frame of just 2.22mm, resulting in an impressive screen-to-body ratio of 93.4%.

Yesterday, the Redmi Note 12 Turbo finally went official in China. It is the world’s first smartphone with the new Snapdragon 7 Plus Gen 2 chipset.

Thus, the device is the most powerful Redmi Note series phone to date. Also, it is the first in the lineup to feature 1TB storage and at the same time, the most affordable one as well.

Just a few hours after the handset’s release, the company has now revealed its initial sales performance. Let’s go through the details.

Redmi says that it took only 2.5 hours to break the sales record of 2023. The Redmi Note 12 Turbo became the best-seller across the leading three e-commerce platforms in China, namely JD, Tmall, and Pinduoduo.

Additionally, the 1TB variant of the device sold out in seconds online along with the Harry Potter Edition. Redmi’s GM Lu Weibing asks buyers to check availability at their nearby Xiaomi Homes.

As mentioned earlier, the Redmi Note 12 Turbo is the cheapest 1TB smartphone on the market right now. It carries an official price tag of just ¥2,799 (~$405). On top of that, it can be had at only ¥2,599 (~$380) as part of launch offers.

Unfortunately, the brand did not reveal the number of units sold. Previously, Xiaomi used to share those numbers but it has stopped doing it now. This is likely due to the drop in smartphone shipments these days. 

The Redmi Note 12 Turbo is expected to release as Poco F5 outside mainland China. The launch is tipped for next week, however, that may not happen.

Also, the back is made with a platinum three-dimensional structure and the artwork on the back shines.

The handset also comes with several custom accessories, including a sim card ejector tool with a 9¾ station logo, Marauder’s map instructions, a bunch of interesting stickers, and a customized case. Like every special edition smartphone, the Redmi Note 12 Turbo Harry Potter Edition also features a customized theme with wallpapers and app icons matching the wizarding world.

Competition is heating up in the mid-range smartphone space in 2023 as today, Xiaomi has finally unveiled the company’s highly anticipated Redmi Note 12 Turbo in China today to challenge the OnePlus Ace 2V. Priced competitively against the OnePlus, Xiaomi even announced in the launch event that the company is waging a price war against its competitors in China for 2023.

The announcement comes from Xiaomi Group President and Redmi brand General Manager, Lu Weibing at the launch event in China today. The translated version of the “price war declaration” by the Xiaomi Group President was that “If it’s a war you want, then let the smartphone price wars begin.” Xiaomi welcomes its competitors in China, to undercut its Redmi Note 12 Turbo with better performance at more affordable prices. The brand believes that healthy competition is needed to advance smartphone innovation in the industry.

The Redmi Note 12 Turbo and OnePlus Ace 2V are expected to be announced as the Poco F5 and OnePlus Nord 3 for global markets respectively, and the Xiaomi Group President also shared the table below highlighting their respective launch sale pricing in China.

Launched today, the Redmi Note 12 Turbo packs the latest Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 chipset from Qualcomm, on par with the flagship Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC found in the Realme GT Neo 5 and better than the MediaTek Dimensity 9000 found on the OnePlus Ace 2V. It sports up to 16 GB LPDDR5x RAM and 1 TB UFS 3.1 storage. Xiaomi sub-brand Redmi has launched a new addition in the Note 12 lineup. The latest offering is called the Redmi Note 12 Turbo. It packs some premium specifications and is the first smartphone to be powered by the recently announced Snapdragon processor. Read on to know what the device offers out of the box. 

The Redmi Note 12 Turbo sports a 6.67-inch display with a 12-bit flexible OLED panel. The new smartphone is confirmed to debut in China on March 28 with a new Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 SoC under the hood. Although the official launch is yet to happen, several teasers and leaks have already revealed a good deal about the device. Design and Display

The Redmi Note 12 Turbo is going to bring some serious hardware specs out of the box, but don’t expect it to look all that different from the other phones in the same series. Redmi will officially launch the Redmi Note 12 Turbo on March 28. The new product launch conference will witness the unveiling of the first Note series model with the largest heat sink and the largest memory configuration, as per a couple of teasers released by the company.

The first teaser shows the Redmi Note 12 Turbo is equipped with 3,725 square millimeter e-sports grade vapour chamber. Vapor chamber cooling is a thermal management technique used to transfer heat from a heat source, such as a computer processor or graphics card, to a heat sink. It utilizes a flat, sealed chamber containing a small amount of liquid that evaporates and condenses quickly. The vapor moves to cooler areas of the chamber, where it releases the absorbed heat, and then flows back to the hotter area to repeat the process. Vapor chamber cooling is efficient, quiet, and does not require any moving parts, making it a popular choice for high-performance computing applications.

A second teaser released by Redmi shows that the Note 12 Turbo will be launched with a 16GB RAM version with 1TB of storage. That is yet another first on the Redmi Note series. The highest we have seen on the series and on most flagship models is the 12GB+512GB storage combination.

As a reminder, the Redmi Note 12 Turbo has a 6.67-inch 1080 x 2400p display. It features a 5,500mAh battery and supports 5G connectivity. The display panel is AMOLED with a 120Hz refresh rate and a 20:9 ratio. It will come with Android 13 and MIUI 14 on the software side. Its GPU is the Adreno 725 and up to 256GB of storage will be available.

The Redmi Note 12 Turbo has a triple main camera setup including a 50MP wide camera. The camera module features LED flash, HDR, and Panorama views. In terms of connectivity, the Note 12 Turbo features Bluetooth 5.2, Wi-Fi, and NFC in selected markets. The device also support 67W wired charging via USB-C and will be available in several colors including black.

Upcoming Smartphones Next Week

Infinix Hot 30i

The Infinix Hot 30i is set to launch in India on March 27 at 12 PM IST. Thanks to leaks and teasers, we know a few things about this phone.

It will sport a 6.6-inch HD+ 90Hz display. The LCD panel will come with a dewdrop notch and 500 nits peak brightness level.

The device will offer a 50MP main camera and a side-mounted fingerprint sensor. It is said to cost under ₹10,000 for 8GB RAM and 128GB storage.

Redmi Note 12 Turbo

The Redmi Note 12 Turbo is scheduled to launch in China on March 28 at 7 PM GMT+8. It will go official as the world’s first Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Plus Gen 2 smartphone.

As per teasers and leaks, the handset will arrive with a 6.67-inch 120Hz OLED display with minimal bezels all around. It will be backed by a 5,000mAh battery with support for 67W wired charging.

Other expected features include a 64MP primary camera, LPDDR5 RAM, UFS 3.1 storage, dual stereo speakers, a 3.5mm headphone jack, an IR blaster, and Android 13-based MIUI 14.

Motorola Moto G13

The Motorola Moto G13 will be unveiled in India on March 29 at 12 PM IST. As the phone is already official in multiple markets, we know everything about it.

The device comes powered by a MediaTek Helio G85 SoC and boots Android 13. It sports a 6.5-inch 90Hz display and a 50MP rear camera.

It arrives with dual stereo speakers, a 3.5mm headphone jack, a dedicated MicroSD card slot, a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, a 5,000mAh battery, and an IP52 rating for splash resistance.

Meizu 20 Series

The Meizu 20 series will be announced on March 30 at 7:30 PM GMT+8. The lineup will be the brand’s first smartphones under the new ownership.

The series is expected to include two models, namely Meizu 20 and Meizu 20 Pro. They will feature a camera layout like Samsung’s and a flat frame design like the newer Apple iPhones.

These handsets will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip. Unfortunately, not much is known about them.

Redmi Note 12 4G and Redmi 12C

The Redmi Note 12 4G and Redmi 12C will debut in India on March 30 at 12 PM IST. These devices are already official in multiple markets.

The Redmi Note 12 4G is almost the same as Redmi Note 12 5G. It comes with a Snapdragon 685 chipset and a 50MP camera instead of a Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 SoC and a 48MP camera.

On the other hand, the Redmi 12C arrives with a 6.71-inch HD+ display, a MediaTek Helio G85 chip, a 50MP camera, a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor, a 5,000mAh battery, and 10W charging.

Yesterday, Redmi confirmed that the Redmi Note 12 Turbo will be unveiled on March 28 in China. It will be the first-ever phone to feature the Snapdragon 7 Plus Gen 2 chipset. The poster that was released yesterday revealed the rear design of the phone. Now, Redmi has released new promotional material about the Redmi Note 12 Turbo, providing additional details about its design.

Redmi claims that the Redmi Note 12 Turbo’s bezels are slimmer than those of the iPhone 14. The new posters indicate that the Note 12 Turbo has ultra-thin bezels on all four sides, with the side bezels measuring 1.95mm, the top bezel measuring 1.42mm, and the chin measuring 2.2mm.

Thanks to its slim bezels, the Redmi Note 12 Turbo’s OLED panel will take up 93.4% of its space. Instead of a plastic frame, the device will come equipped with a metallic frame.

The Redmi Note 12 Turbo weighs 191 grams and is just 7.9mm thin. It comes with a 5,000mAh battery and supports 67W fast charging, as confirmed through its 3C certification. According to Redmi, the smartphone will offer 1.3 days of battery life.

The phone might also have a fingerprint scanner under the screen, but this hasn’t been confirmed. The posters have also revealed that the device is equipped with a 64-megapixel triple camera setup, dual stereo speakers, a 3.5mm audio jack, and an IR blaster.

The device is expected to feature a 6.67-inch OLED FHD+ 120Hz display, a 16-megapixel front camera, and a 64-megapixel + 8-megapixel + 2-megapixel triple camera unit. It will come with up to 12 GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 512 GB of UFS 3.1 storage. It will run on MIUI 14-based Android 13 OS.

It has been confirmed to make its debut in the Chinese market on March 28 with Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 SoC under the hood. The Redmi Note 12 Turbo has been listed on Geekbench with model number 23049RAD8C. The benchmarking platform reveals the handset has managed to score 1213 points in the single-core and 3972 in the multi-core tests. The scores suggest the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2, which powers the device, will offer impressive performance for a mid-range SoC.

Qualcomm says the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 will offer substantial performance and power efficiency improvements. Its main Kryo CPU core is clocked at 2.91GHz and the whole 1+3+4 CPU architecture is claimed to deliver over a 50% jump in performance compared to the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1.

Geekbench reveals the Redmi Note 12 Turbo’s processor will be paired with 12GB RAM. The company may announce other RAM variants as well. Further, the smartphone is listed to run Android 13 OS out of the box. It will likely have Xiaomi’s custom MIUI 14 skin on top.

Xiaomi-backed Redmi has confirmed that the company will be launching its new Redmi Note 12 Turbo smartphone in its home country on 28th March.

Now, ahead of its launch next week, the Redmi Note 12 Turbo is available for reservation in China. The phone can be reserved by paying 1 yuan and when it’s purchased after the launch, the buyer will get goodies worth 198 yuan.

The teaser poster shared by the company reveals that the smartphone will feature a triple-camera setup on the back panel with a 64-megapixel primary sensor. There are volume rocker keys on the right side of the device, along with a side-mounted fingerprint sensor.

The top edge of the phone has a microphone, an IR blaster, a speaker grille, and a 3.5mm audio jack. On the bottom side, there’s a speaker grille, a USB-C port, a microphone, and a SIM slot.

Coming to the specifications, the Redmi Note 12 Turbo is expected to feature a 6.67-inch flat OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and a Full HD+ screen resolution. Under the hood, the device will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 processor, making it the world’s first smartphone to come powered by this chipset.

As for the memory configuration, it packs up to 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 256GB of UFS 3.1 internal storage. Qualcomm has launched the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 processor. It arrives as the successor to the last year’s Snapdragon 7 Gen 1. The newly announced chipset is a mid-range premium flagship processor for smartphones. It is said to pack a host of improvements over its predecessor. Read on to know more about it below. 

The Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 is based on TSMC’s 4nm process technology. It comprises a primary Cortex X2 core clocked at 2.91GHz, three Cortex A710 performance CPUs at 2.49GHz, and four energy-efficient Cortex A510 cores ticking at 1.80GHz. Qualcomm says that the CPU configuration offers a 50 percent jump in performance compared to the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1. The Adreno GPU remains unnamed and is said to offer 2x performance increase and power efficiency also increases by 13 percent in various scenarios. The latest chipset comes with an integrated X62 5G modem-RF system with support for 4G/5G Dual SIM Dual Active. It also supports WiFi-6 and Bluetooth 5.3 connectivity. 

The Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 is capable of supporting up to QHD+ resolution at 120Hz and Dolby Vision, HLG, and HDR10+ formats. It has an 18-bit triple ISP with support for a 200MP sensor and HDR video capture from two cameras simultaneously. The chipset comes with Snapdragon Elite gaming features like auto-variable refresh rate shading, volumetric rendering, and Snapdragon Sound with Qualcomm aptX for lossless music streaming. 

At the announcement, Qualcomm said that Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2-powered phones will launch from this month. Xiaomi sub-brand Redmi and Realme confirmed that they will launch two smartphones with the latest chipset. These are the Redmi Note 12 Turbo and Realme GT Neo 5 SE respectively. Both smartphones are set to launch in China later this month.

These handsets range from budget to flagship segments. Around 11 brands are said to debut new phones in the coming days.

A few of these devices have already gone official. However, they will be making their way to more markets this month.

But most of these handsets are brand-new. Some of them are even the most-anticipated releases, such as the Oppo Find X6 series and Redmi Note 12 Turbo.

With that out of the way, let’s take a look at these phones one by one.

Upcoming Smartphones in March 2023

Oppo Find N2 Flip

The Oppo Find N2 Flip was initially announced in China in December. It made its global debut in February. Now, the device is scheduled to release in India.

Oppo has confirmed that it will reveal the pricing and availability of its first clamshell foldable smartphone for India on March 13. It is not known if the product will be available for pre-order on the same day.

Some of the features of this phone include a 6.8-inch 120Hz LTPO foldable display, a 3.26-inch cover display, a MediaTek Dimensity 9000 Plus chipset, a 50MP Sony IMX890 primary camera, a 4,300mAh battery, and 44W fast wired charging support.

Poco X5

The Poco X5 was announced alongside the Poco X5 Pro for Europe in February. A month later, the device is now set to launch in India on March 14.

The vanilla X5 is the same as the Redmi Note 12 but features a Snapdragon 695 SoC instead of a Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 chip. Thus, it arrives with a 6.67-inch 120Hz AMOLED display, a 48MP main camera, a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, a 5,000mAh battery, and 33W fast charging support.

Samsung Galaxy A54 and Galaxy A34

Samsung is tipped to unveil the Galaxy A54 and Galaxy A34 on March 15. However, in India, these handsets have been officially confirmed to break cover on March 16.

Just like all Samsung smartphones, almost everything about this duo is also known ahead of their official debut. We have been hearing about them for months. Both of them will look similar to the Galaxy S23 series but will offer a different set of specs. 

The A34 will come with a 6.6-inch dewdrop-notched display, a MediaTek Dimensity 1080 chip, and a 48MP primary camera. Whereas, the A54 will arrive with a smaller 6.4-inch centered punch-hole display, an Exynos 1380 SoC, and a 50MP main camera.

iQOO Z7 Series

The iQOO Z7 is planned to launch in India on March 21. The brand has already confirmed all the key details of the device.

The Z7 will come with a Dimensity 920 chipset, an AMOLED display, an OIS-assisted 64MP primary camera, Funtouch OS 13 based on Android 13, and 44W fast charging support.

The handset is designed exclusively for India and it is tipped to cost ₹17,999 for 6GB RAM and 128GB RAM. It is also said to come in an 8GB + 128GB memory configuration and two colors (Pacific Night and Norway Blue).

The Chinese version of iQOO Z7 is also expected this month. It will be a different product altogether powered by a Snapdragon 782G chipset. It will be accompanied by iQOO Zx featuring a Snapdragon 695 SoC.

Vivo Y11 (2023)

The Vivo Y11 (2023) is tipped to launch in China by the end of March. The smartphone is also said to debut in global markets in April.

The phone is expected to arrive with a 6.5-inch FHD+ display (LCD), a MediaTek chipset, 4GB RAM, 128GB storage, a MicroSD card slot, a 3.5mm headphone jack, a 5,000mAh battery, and 18W charging support.

Redmi Note 12 Turbo and Redmi Note 12 4G

The Redmi Note 12 Turbo is expected to house the yet-be-announced Snapdragon 7 Plus Gen 1 chipset, which is said to be an underclocked version of the Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1. This phone may release by the end of March in China and later in other markets as Poco F5.

It is tipped to come with a 6.67-inch 120Hz OLED display, an in-screen fingerprint sensor, a 50MP + 8MP + 2MP triple camera system, a 5,000mAh battery, 67W charging support, and MIUI 14 based on Android 13.

On the other hand, the Redmi Note 12 4G will be identical to the 5G variant, except for the chipset, It will be powered by an overclocked Snapdragon 680 SoC instead of a Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 chip. This phone could go official this month or next.

Redmi A2 and Redmi A2 Plus

Xiaomi might launch Redmi A2 and Redmi A2 Plus by the end of March. The successors of Redmi A1 and Redmi A1 Plus are tipped to come with the almost same set of features.

The major difference is the newer models will house a MediaTek Helio G36 SoC instead of an Helio A22 SoC. They are expected to offer a 6.52-inch HD+ display, an 8MP rear camera, a 5MP front-facing camera, Android 13 Go Edition, a 5,000mAh battery, and 10W charging support.

The Redmi A2 Plus will house a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor, while the vanilla Redmi A2 won’t.

Realme GT Neo 5 SE and Realme C55

The Realme GT Neo 5 SE is the second smartphone on the list powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Plus Gen 1 chipset. It is expected to go official by the end of March.

It is said to arrive with a 6.74-inch 2K 144Hz OLED display, a 64MP (wide) + 8MP (ultra-wide) + 2MP (macro) triple camera system, a 16MP front-facing camera, Android 13-based ColorOS 13, a 5,500mAh battery, and 100W fast charging support.

Whereas, the Realme C55 was just recently released in Indonesia. It is anticipated to debut in other markets in the next few weeks. Its primary features include a MediaTek Helio G88 chip, a 6.72-inch 90Hz display (LCD), iPhone 14 Pro-like dynamic island functionality, a 64MP main camera, and 33W fast charging support.

Infinix Hot 30 Series

The Infinix Hot 30 lineup may debut before March ends. The series is said to include handsets, such as Infinix Hot 30, Infinix Hot 30i, and Infinix Hot 30 Play.

The Hot 30 and Hot 30i are expected to look identical. Thanks to a leak, we even know some specs of the latter device,

The Hot 30i is tipped to arrive with a 6.6-inch HD+ display, a MediaTek Helio G37 chip, a 50MP main camera, Android 12, a 5,000mAh battery, and 18W charging support.

Oppo Find X6 Series

The Oppo Find X6 series is anticipated to launch later this month. It is rumored to go official on March 21. As usual, the lineup is said to include two models, namely Oppo Find X6 and Oppo Find X6 Pro.

The vanilla and Pro variants are tipped to house a MediaTek Dimensity 9200 SoC and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC, respectively. Both phones are said to come with triple 50MP cameras and a 32MP selfie camera. The main sensor on the Pro version will measure 1 inch in size.

The duo is rumored to be backed by a 5,000mAh battery. The Pro version will carry support for 100W wired charging and 50W wireless charging, whereas the vanilla model will be limited to 80W wired charging.

Huawei P60 Series

The Huawei P60 family of premium smartphones may break cover by the end of March. It is expected to go official on March 23.

The lineup is tipped to include three handsets, such as Huawei P60, Huawei P60 Pro, and Huawei P60 Ultra. They are said to feature cameras powered by the company’s in-house XMAGE imaging technology.

Unfortunately, they will be limited to 4G connectivity despite housing the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset due to the US ban.

Meizu 20 Series

The Meizu 20 series may also go official before March ends. The lineup is anticipated to include two phones, such as Meizu 20 and Meizu 20 Pro. Their design will be inspired by the Galaxy S23 series.

We have been hearing about the Redmi Note 12 Turbo (aka Redmi Note 12T) since January. In the last few weeks, more details about this smartphone have emerged.

According to Xiaomiui, the software for the upcoming Redmi Note 12 Turbo is ready. The handset will ship with MIUI 14 based on Android 13. The last internal MIUI build for this phone bears firmware version V14.0.2.0.TMRCNXM.

Since the product will be making its initial debut in China, Redmi may start teasing its arrival in the coming days. As usual, the brand may disclose all the main features before the smartphone’s official announcement.

But the source has revealed that there will be three variants of Poco F5 for international markets. They are Global, EEA, and India.

According to other reports, there’s going to be a Poco F5 Pro as well. That device is nothing but a rebranded Redmi K60 featuring a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen1 chipset.

A new Poco phone that will end up as an F-series flagship phone has been spotted in the IMEI database by Xiaomiui. Last month, a device with model number 23013PC75G was spotted with the POCO F5 Pro moniker in the IMEI database. It was later seen at other certification sites such as the FCC and IMDA. The new device that has appeared in the IMEI database has the model number 23049PCD8G and the moniker “POCO F5”. The same device was spotted at IMDA certification last week.

According to the publication, the “marble” codename is associated with the 23049PCD8G device. There is a Chinese variant of the device with model number 23049RAD8C. This device is expected to launch with the Redmi Note 12 Turbo (or Note 12T) moniker in China. Reports have claimed that the device may get rebranded as the POCO X5 GT in the global market. However, it now appears that it will be rebadged as the POCO F5 and not the X5 GT globally.

According to reports, the Redmi Note 12 Turbo will be equipped with a 6.67-inch Full HD+ OLED display that offers a Full HD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. The screen will also offer an eye protection dimming feature as well as a fingerprint scanner.

Today, tipster Digital Chat Station shared some information about the device on Weibo. The original post is no longer available since DCS has modified it. However, TechGoing has published a report based on what he originally posted.

As per the report, the tipster revealed that the Redmi Note 12 Turbo has the upcoming Snapdragon 7-series chipset, which is said to be the Snapdragon 7 Gen 2 chip. He added that the device will arrive with a 6.67-inch Full HD+ OLED display with eye-protection dimming, a 5,500mAh battery that offers 67W fast charging, an IR blaster, and a linear motor.

As can be seen, the tipster has just reiterated what he shared before. However, he also added that there will not be a Pro+ version for the device.

To recall, the Redmi Note 11T and 11T Pro+ offered the same specs but differed in battery size and charging capabilities. Hence, it appears that the Redmi Note 12 Turbo will succeed the Note 11T Pro, but there will not be a Pro+ version.

The rumor is gathering momentum as specs details of a Xiaomi model said to be the expected Note 12 Turbo has been shared by prolific tipster Digital Chat Station. The tipster hinted via a Weibo post that the smartphone will be powered by a Snapdragon 7 Gen 2 chipset. The processor will pair with 12GB RAM with up to 512GB of storage.

Digital Chat Station also disclosed that it will pack a 6.67-inch OLED display with FHD+ resolution and support for a 120Hz refresh rate.
